i also thought: emma when she’s older and coming in with osc on factory day bc she looooves to look at the trophies and read all the plaques. loves the way the mtc smells. loves to watch everyone go in and out, pick up little snippets of conversation and try to guess just from a few words what each person is talking about. loves to read in a quiet corner and stay out of the way just like dad reminded her sternly a thousand times before he finally said yes (even though oscar offered. even though it’s no problem, lando, she might get a bored but as long as she doesn’t mind entertaining herself sometimes when i’m doing meetings and whatever, nobody will bat an eye.) loves when somebody stops off to ask who she is so she can say “i’m oscar’s” because it puts a pride in her chest even if it’s not true in the formal, legal sense - pride especially here, where everyone knows him and knows how good he is. not just a racing driver, one of the best. and at the end he comes back for her, ruffles her hair and grins sideways and says “should have had you do the soc med video they had me record, i think you’d be better at it” and asks if she had an okay day. and she asks about his times on the sim and says “that’s good for imola, isn’t it?” even though she’s only nine and he’s not sure when she would have had time to memorize that kind of thing. and she’s chatty all the way home, which oscar doesn’t mind when he’s all chatted out himself after hours of giving his opinion on everything, and the minute they get home she throws herself in lando’s arms and says “thank you for letting me go, i want to move in there.”
