Chi-Chi Baby “From my adult perspective today, I realise that Palm Beach was basically what it had always been - the land of dreams come true …” - Jennifer Ash Ruddick, Author, ’Palm Beach Chic’. Palm Beach interiors have long reflected the travels, penchants, and whimsies of the town’s worldly inhabitants. But as real estate on this tiny barrier island becomes increasingly valuable, residents are calling upon world-class designers to help fine-tune their visions, giving rise to a fresh tropical design vernacular. Fashion designer Josie Natori, for instance, asked architect Calvin Tsao to transform a standard two-bedroom apartment into an airy retreat with rattan furniture and ethnic accessories that are perfectly suited to Palm Beach’s subtropical setting and pay tribute to her Asian heritage. These homes aren’t slavish copies of interior design magazines or decorators’ dictates but testaments to what can be achieved when inspired by the natural beauty of a unique locale and when imagination is one’s only limitation. Palm prints never go out of style dahling. See for yourself. ‘Palm Beach Chic’, by Jennifer Ash Rudick, Photography by Jessica Klewicki Glynn, Published by ‘Vendome Press’. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #words #pictures #neon #urchin #addisonmizner #mauricefatio #marionsimswyeth #architecture #interiordesign #shinysheet #palmbeach #photography #jessicaklewickiglynn #jenniferashrudick #vendomepress #palmbeachchic (at Palm Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPVI-TYlA-5/?utm_medium=tumblr

Chi-Chi Baby “People in Palm Beach care about their interiors, and houses there are a reflection of their owners’ travels and imaginations. Palm Beach is the land of dreams come true, and the houses also reflect that. There is a certain fantasy and confidence in the designs.” - Jennifer Ash Ruddick, Author, ’Palm Beach Chic’. ‘Palm Beach Chic' captures the enduring charm of newly restored seaside fantasies by Mizner, Fatio and Volk, celebrated for their Cuban coquina courtyards and soaring miradors overlooking tiled pools and arching fountains. Jennifer Ash Rudick, a long-time Palm Beach resident, leads an insider’s tour of twenty-five houses, cottages, Moorish casbahs, artists’ compounds and ‘Mad Men’-era vintage condos. Jessica Klewicki, a Palm Beach-based photographer, captures extraordinary gardens, verandas, lakeside pavilions a rustic ranch and simple pastel Bermudan houses sheltered by dense thickets of Norfolk pines and age-old banyans. It is this eclectic mix of old and new, of Spanish and Caribbean, of contemporary design and sun-faded WASP thrift, that makes Palm Beach chic. ‘Palm Beach Chic’, by Jennifer Ash Rudick, Photography by Jessica Klewicki Glynn, Published by ‘Vendome Press’. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #words #pictures #neon #urchin #addisonmizner #mauricefatio #marionsimswyeth #architecture #interiordesign #shinysheet #palmbeach #photography #jessicaklewickiglynn #jenniferashrudick #vendomepress #palmbeachchic (at Palm Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPVI36UFQNn/?utm_medium=tumblr

Chi-Chi Baby “They moved up in 1976 with ‘Cox Newspapers’ which had purchased ‘The Palm Beach Post’ and the ‘Shiny Sheet’. They recruited my father as editorial director of the ‘Post’ and thought, why don’t we offer Aggie the ‘Shiny Sheet’? Within a couple of years, it was one of Cox’s most profitable papers.” - Jennifer Ash Ruddick, Author, ’Palm Beach Chic’. Written by long-time Palm Beach resident Jennifer Ash Ruddick ‘Palm Beach Chic’ takes you on an insider’s tour of 25 extraordinary homes and gardens in and around Palm Beach including landmarks by legendary Palm Beach architects Addison Mizner, Maurice Fatio and Marion Sims Wyeth. There are also cozy cottages nestled amid tropical foliage, an exotic Moorish casbah, postmodern villas a sprawling ranch and ‘Mad Men’-era vintage condos. Ash Ruddick’s Jennifer’s lifelong fascination with houses of all kinds began with her first trip to Palm Beach when she was 12 years old. Her family was house hunting. Her mother, Agnes Ash, had just become publisher of the very social ‘Palm Beach Daily’ (a.k.a. the ‘Shiny Sheet’) the bible of high society in PB community. Aggie, as she was known, became a trusted source and was beloved by everyone worth knowing in a town where privacy is highly prized. Her father was an editorial writer for the ‘Palm Beach Post’. As a youngster, Ash Rudick was familiar with nearly every significant property on the island. And luckily for her, she also inherited the journalism gene. Let’s take a peek inside the homes of notables including Laura and Harry Slatkin, Leonard Lauder, Meg Braff, Liza Pulitzer Calhoun, Mimi McMakin, Pauline Pitt, Lars Bolander, Josie Natori, Lisa Perry, Terry Allen Kramer, Beth Rudin DeWoody and Jorge Sanchez. ’Palm Beach Chic’, by Jennifer Ash Rudick, Photography by Jessica Klewicki Glynn, Published by ‘Vendome Press’. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #words #pictures #neon #urchin #addisonmizner #mauricefatio #marionsimswyeth #architecture #interiordesign #shinysheet #palmbeach #photography #jessicaklewickiglynn #jenniferashrudick #vendomepress #palmbeachchic (at Palm Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPVIwzVFkfC/?utm_medium=tumblr
