Aunque no sea del centro-centro, porque ella es de New Jersey, a Sharon Van Etten New York le ha calado hondo, como decía aquel. Este tema es una canción de amor a una ciudad que la ha visto crecer, y que tanto ha cambiado desde su infancia gracias a la arrolladora gentrificación. Un estribillo verdaderamente pegadizo y una guitarra juguetona que aparece en la mitad del tema a modo de interludio instrumental, que aunque desaparezca al entrar la nueva estrofa, no se marcha realmente, porque seguirá martilleando en nuestra cabeza, y sobre todo una letra con sentimiento donde la autora entabla un diálogo con la adolescente que fue, ayudan a infundir nostalgia a borbotones como también lo hace su plasmación en imágenes por Maureen Towey con un videoclip que toca la fibra desde el momento en que aparece Rachel Trachtenburg interpretando a la artista en su adolescencia, e interactuando con la adulta que ahora es.

I love this video so much. I was a bit older than 17 when I first moved to New York; I was 21, but can relate to this so much. I really love the juxtaposition of her younger self standing next to her on the platform. This release is also so perfectly timed with that social media trend of first profile photo compared to the current one. I had just shared mine and was reminiscing, observing how far I’ve come since 2006, just before making the move to NY, and then this video popped up in my timeline.
