if this was turned into the movie, the opening scene would not be the same as the fic.

in fact, I picture you getting broken up with so the viewers get an insight into the relationship—plus it makes sense with the title and plot of the story.

the viewers would see you briefly grieving, heartbroken as you lounge around at home and work at the ice rink—teaching kids how to figure skate. then they’d see you opening the email, where you get the opportunity to teach nhl players.

fast forward through the travelling and title sequence on the screen—now in the taxi, listening to this song through your earbuds. the song would come to a stop as you take them out, following the fic.

there’s a big jump for music here, and at this point you’ve already met matt and introduced yourselves.

this song begins playing during that teaching montage. this song is perfectly upbeat and fun that it matches the energy of the scenes.

APPLE PIE BY LIZZY MCALPINE

the instrumental chords of this song would begin to filter in the scene as you and matt sit on the bench, opening up to one another. I think this scene is important for the relationship—especially when considering the speed of which it happens—because it shows that they are comfortable with one another practically instantly.

the lyrics of this song are just perfect for this fic.

the song would continue through the ending scene and the transition to you back at the hotel, getting unready after the long, harder day. you’re thinking about matt and how he made you feel today, and it’s the final push for you to change your lockscreen.

turning it from you and your ex to the photo matt took that day—you, him, shay and john.

HIGH BY 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER

another tiring day teaching and figure skating, and it’s extended into the evening as you head over to matt’s place to help him with the routine. which, obviously he didn’t actually need help, he just wanted to see you.

this song would begin during the second half of the scene, when you’re in his bedroom. the instrumentals would filter in the scene, quietly in the background as you look around the space. it would continue as you get into bed, and choose a movie to watch.

you don't mean to fall asleep but it just happens - showing how comfortable you've grown around mat in such a short time. mat admires you afterwards, which is one of my favourite parts of the fic.

you’ve just been overcome with relief, while still swimming with urgency to get back to your place and get ready for the routine. in the flurry of emotions, you thank matt by leaning up and kissing him in the cheek.

you don’t realize what you’ve actually done until you’re driving away. this would be the song playing over your radio.

another jump in time, and you wouldn’t hear this song until the carnival scene. I picture this song playing as you and matt are walking around, and the lyrics are heard in the background playing through one of the rides.

this is my personal favourite scene in the entire fic, I just think it’s so cute and domestic. plus matt’s subtle jealousy towards beecher in the laser tag line, pulling you into his side is just..ugh.

NO.1 PARTY ANTHEM BY ARCTIC MONKEYS

this song would bleed into the scene that plays out inside the laser tag building. matt has pushed you into the corner so you’re out of sight from the other players, and you’re both enveloped in the dark space.

there’s a lot of tension and unspoken lust between you, looking at one another and touching one another gently as you almost kiss.

this song would transition into the next scene, which isn’t in the fic, but would be in the movie (it’s only mentioned in the fic). matt would bring you to the train station, and there kind of be that unspoken feeling…a lackluster goodbye (just a hug...no kiss).

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH BY POST MALONE

you’ve just surprised matt at the game—letting him know by the picture of the arena in your texts.

as you’re waiting for him to come out of the locker room—stomach twisting with nerves and excitement—the very start of this song would play, that instrumental whistling.

as he comes out, and inevitably kisses you for the first time, those instrumentals would continue. the second part of the first kiss after the confession, the chorus of this song would play as their lips touch passionately, which feels like an explosive moment, saved for that explosive drop in the song.

S2E2 (spoilers abound)

They found Blood but not Cheese, just like the book.

Otto is being completely callous about using Jaehaerys as propaganda, Aegon II looks ready to chop his damn head off, and Alicent just fucking stands there, doing nothing. Shut your father up! Comfort your son!

At least Aegon II called out Criston for not doing his duty. Worst kingsguard commander ever.

Oh God. Not only are they going through with this heartless funeral procession, Otto wants Alicent and Helaena to follow the body. Fuck you, Otto. I hope you have the most painful GoT franchise death since Oberyn Martell.

Hug your daughter, Alicent! Fuck, she truly is a shit mother.

Oh dear fucking God, someone had Jaehaerys' head sewn back onto his body and they're making Helaena look at it this whole procession. Where's the silver shroud we've seen at every other Targ funeral?

Oh God, the carriage with the body is stuck and they're having to rock it back and forth to free it. Jaehaerys' head is going to roll a second time, I just know it.

Thank God that didn't happen, Helaena would've fainted, I'm sure.

Now Rhaenyra's getting blamed, Daemon's denying the "son for a son" thing, and there goes their marriage.

Hi, Baela! The writers are finally giving you something to do, yay!!! Now if they could just do the same for your sister.

There goes Daemon and Caraxes. All hail Ramin, the music this episode has been top-notch.

At least fucking say something to your wife, Aegon.

Servants are taking Jaehaerys' bed apart as Criston looks on all sad. Fuck you, Cole. This is on you. (And Daemon, mostly Daemon, but Criston is definitely not completely innocent in this, fuck any TG fans who say otherwise.)

Emma is also killing it this season. I hope that their next role is something other than a grieving mother, they're a little too good at it, it's heartbreaking.

Oh great, we've got the Cargyll twins' fight in the middle of Rhaenyra's bedchamber with Rhaenyra and Elinda Massey caught in the middle. I'm pretty sure this isn't how this scene goes in the book.

Oh good, nobody dies but the twins, that's in the book. (Elinda's ultimate fate isn't happy but that's still coming.)

It's about FUCKING TIME that somebody mentioned Daeron. This child has literally not existed until this moment, I swear.

"I have sinned." Alicent, Otto a self-righteous ass but he is nowhere near a priest.
