Queen Mary spent more time with her daughters-in-law than with her only daughter. Why?
Hi!
Not entirely true…
People often forget that Mary married an Earl from Leeds, so she spent a good deal of her life at the Harewood estate there. She wrote and coasted with Queen Mary as often as they could and they Lascelles did have a house in London that they stayed at (especially for the Season and when Mary had engagements).
Later in life once Harry died, Mary spent more and more time away from Harewood, she had an apartment in St James’ Palace and saw more of her mother then.
Essentially, they say each other more during Mary’s maiden years and then widow years as Mary would frequent London more then. During the later years they took tea together everyday at 5pm.
Hope this helps!

you can put some letter from Queen Mary to her daughter?
Hello!
I’ve attached this one that I saw during at exhibition at Harewood House to mark the 100th anniversary of Mary’s wedding to Harry. So bare in mind I only have a picture of the first page in the display case!
It was sent during Queen Mary and King George’s tour as Prince and Princess of Wales on the Ophir that took them all around the world to Australia and South Africa and the like. It was sent for Princess Mary’s fourth birthday.
“Darling Baby Mary,
I hope these lines will reach you on your birthday and that you will spend a very happy day and have lots of pretty presents given you. Do you know that Papa and Mama often wish that you and David, Bertie and little Harry were with them on this large ship and seeing…”

Princess Mary countess of harewood did she had a happy relationship With her husband Harry lascelles ?
many articles say they been in an unhappy marriage
I don't believe those articles ;/
Hello Anon! Unfortunately I don’t know much about the details of the relationship so I don’t think that I would be suitable for answering this question. People that would be great are @missmarymaywindsor and @darlinggeorgiedear
All of the information that I know is that they didn’t have the best relationship but it definitely wasn’t bad. The probably loved each other a little bit but they definitely weren’t soulmates. Henry was A LOT older than Mary, and as that wasn’t unusual for the time, it might’ve set the tones for a less happy marriage. But they ended up having 2 kids together so I don’t think that the marriage was a fail. They most likely respected eachother and found comfort in one’s presence.
Thank you for asking me questions!!!

Is it true that George V and Queen Mary didn't think about their only daughter as she was overshadowed by her male siblings?
Hi!
Not at all! In fact Mary was often thought to be her fathers favourite! And in later life she was most likely her mothers too (as they spent a great deal of time together as both were widows).
Hope this helps! ❤️

Do you think King George V would have been happier if he had daughters instead? He was very close to his daughter and his granddaughters. He obviously preferred boys to girl. It could be because he received much more love from the women in his family (mom, sisters) than his own dad and brother
Hi anon! I honestly don’t know. George had 5 sons and 1 daughter (Mary). He was known for being a strict and very cold father to his sons and favoring his daughter.
I think that George was just not a kid person. He never had any other daughter so we would never know if he wanted more or would’ve loved them all equally or as much as he loved Mary. George basically needed to have sons because he needed heirs to the throne (the throne accepted women too except sons were preferred). I think that since he had a cold father who treated him coldly, he felt like he needed to treat his kids like that. Maybe he wanted some authority and respect out of them (he did) and he thought that his sons should just be manly and like him. He loved his daughter dearly but I think that if you were to propose the idea of if he should’ve had more daughters or had more sons, we have to go back to how he was raised and change that.
Thank you for asking!

Did princess Mary had good relatiomship with her mom the queen mary of teck?
Hello! As far as I know, Mary had a very good relationship with her mother. It might not have been as strong as mother-daughter relationships these days but it was definitely a happy one! Mary was Mary’s only daughter and I think that that meant something to her, just like what Charlotte means to William these days.
Their relationship was DEFINITELY not as bad as it was with David but there might’ve been some bumps in the road because Mary was very close with her brother so his views might’ve shifted a little bit when they got older.
But other than that everything was pretty okay with them!
Thank you for asking me questions!!!

Hello!
I apologise for just seeing this!
Contrary to popular belief Mary and Harry were actually a very devoted and loving couple who adored each other.
Mary’s eldest son George noted in his biography that he never saw his parents so happy than when they were scheming together and making plans.
Mary went to pieces after Harry died, carrying round pictures of him whenever she travelled. In the first year or two after his death she was not able to be left alone for fear that she would fall apart in her grief for him. She refused to permit any changes at Harewood to any items that Harry had installed. She even had her Christmas card picture taken beneath a painting of him, similarly to how Queen Victoria did of Albert.
After conversations with officials at Harewood House I can confirm they had nicknames for each other but they have asked that these are not revealed to the wider public as they are included in private correspondence.
Because of the age gap few could comprehend that such a marriage would be happy but the two were blissful and the best of friends, sharing passions for horse-racing, gardening, arts and culture. A particular favourite pastime of theirs would be to walk the gardens together and ask the gardeners about the rhododendrons, laughing secretly together as the running joke was the many incorrect and strange pronunciations they heard of the word. She even had these flowers placed on her wreath for him with a note that said something along the lines of (I’m afraid I don’t have the book with me to check) ‘with thanks for 25 years of perfect love and companionship.’
Hope this helps! ❤️
