*This is a soulmate AU*

Pairing: Steve x Bucky x reader

Warnings: cursing, flirting, little implied smut,

Summary of the series: You are a close scientist friend of Bruce’s so when the team needs help from someone with her expertise, they call in the best, you! But what happens when you find the 2 people you’ve been looking for your whole life?

part-one

You woke up at 5am, got a quick shower, threw on some workout clothing and got ready. You were in the gym at 5:45 waiting for the guys to meet you there.

They arrived promptly at 6:00am right on time, though looking a little groggy, wishing they were asleep. “Tired Bucky? I guess an old guy like you does need more sleep than us youngsters.” You teased. “Not all of us can be this cheery, this early doll” he spat out grumpily. You roll your eyes with a smirk on your face. “Alright, first off is the easy bit, I only have 2 weeks to whip you two into shape for this mission, both physically and mentally, so what normally would take a year for basics, we have 2 weeks. So you both are going to do a baseline test so I can see what I can skip over, and what I need to desperately teach.” “Sounds like a plan!” Steve agrees. “First is the physical test, this probably won’t be too hard for you two but it’s still important. FRIDAY please initiate the Jungle terrain only program I made. Here put these packs on and we are going to go through this together.” FRIDAY initiated the program and you three were suddenly in a sort of virtual reality world. “Wait what are the packs for, and why are you doing it with us?” Steve questioned. “The packs are to simulate the bags we will be carrying with supplies on our journey and I’m doing it with you because I’m not going to make you do anything I wouldn’t” you responded. “Plus it’s good practice.” You shrugged.

After walking and running through the course, all 3 of you were tired, you probably a little more, after all you weren’t a super soldier. The program ended and you congratulated the two soldiers on a job well done, “well, that will make it easier for me, I just need to prep you guys for the mental part and not any endurance or strength stuff.” “Oh, doll if you want to see my endurance and strength, you should’ve just asked, I have a much better way to show you.” Bucky teased you with a wink, getting you back for this morning, now that he was wide awake. Both you and Steve laughed along with him, you could tell you would all be good friends.

The three of you decided to order pizza as you didn’t want to cook or go out anywhere. Sadly the pizza would take 20 minutes to get there. “So Y/N what exactly do the mental tests have on it?” Steve asks as you pick out a movie to watch while you eat and wait for the pizza. “ Well it has what plants and animals are poisonous, and what you can or can’t eat. It also has survival skills and Boy Scout type of things, but with a little more depth.” Bucky was about to make some snide remark but was stopped by Y/N squealing. “Look they have Y/F/M on here! And by the look on your faces you haven’t seen it so we are watching it end of discussion.” The two men chuckle and agree to watch the movie. The pizza comes and they eat it and finish the movie.

After the movie finished you three went back to training. You gave the guys a mental test, which mushrooms would kill you and which was a tasty snack, how to tell if a snake was poisonous. The tests also included important skills like making fires. The guys did decent enough but not well enough to survive Satan’s Hell. You spent the rest of the day relaxing, and told them you would begin the real training tomorrow.

You decided to make dinner for the whole team, letting the guys help was probably a bad idea. “What does this do?” “Back in my day…” “Ahhh doll the microwave is yellin’ at me again!” Eventually you had a pretty good looking lasagna with garlic bread and salad. The team came when they smelt the delicious food and were all super excited to eat it.

Dinner was full of funny stories and talks of how everyone’s day went. “So, which was harder Barnes, basic training or today’s hell ?” Natasha jokingly questioned to Bucky. “So far, basic training, but that was because today was just tests to see what we already knew.” “Which was about 60% I must say, not bad for the first day” you say letting the mens’ egos grow. “The real stuff starts tomorrow, the hard stuff.” “Well good luck with that” Bruce scoffed “ I’ve seen what kinda stuff you do on the job, I went on one once, never again.” Everyone stared in shock that Bruce of all people had gone on one before. “Care to elaborate maybe!” Tony surprised said. “It was before, you know, the incident, and I went on an easy one, as a favor to Y/N because she needed my expertise, I hated it and I will never ever go on one again.” Everyone laughed and continued on with the conversation. After dinner everyone cleaned up and went to get ready to sleep.

You hadn’t told Steve or Bucky what time to be up tomorrow so they knocked on your door to ask, when you didn’t answer they assumed the worst and wanted to check on you, so they opened the door to see. You had just gotten out of the shower so you hadn’t heard the knocks. The two men had just walked in when you walked out of the bathroom in just a towel as you’d left your clothes in the main bedroom area. They both started to apologize profusely when something caught Steve and Bucky’s eyes. Your two soul marks. They were normally out of view but with just the towel on they were in plain view. “Doll, are those your soulmate marks?” Bucky shyly questioned. “Yeah, why…….” You suspiciously questioned. “They, kinda match ours” Steve replied as they both took of their shirts and showed you their soul marks. They matched. You three were soulmates. This might make the trek and the preparation better or worse, only time will tell.

AN: Chapter 2 complete!! I hope you guys like this! No it’s not the end, there are more chapters to come! Will they survive the jungle, maybe, only I know, for now……..muhahahaha

Where we left off:

They both started to apologize profusely when something caught Steve and Bucky’s eyes. Your two soul marks. They were normally out of view but with just the towel on they were in plain view. “Doll, are those your soulmate marks?” Bucky shyly questioned. “Yeah, why…….” You suspiciously questioned. “They, kinda match ours” Steve replied as they both took of their shirts and showed you their soul marks. They matched. You three were soulmates. This might make the trek and the preparation better or worse, only time will tell.

“Wow, we’ve been waiting and looking and we thought our soulmate would be dead by now, but….here you are,” Bucky said in astonishment. “Here I am” you chuckled, also surprised you had just found your soulmates, and they were both Avengers, and 100 year old guys. You snapped out of your daze and realized you were still in just a towel, “ Umm, we can talk more in a minute, but uh, I should probably get some clothes on.” You awkwardly laughed. “ Right my apologies” Steve said leaving, being ever the gentleman. “Well I mean, you could always just go ahead and change, I wouldn’t mind the show,” Bucky teased. Steve smacked Bucky on the back of the head and pulled him out of the room, shutting the door behind him, you laughed at the boys’ antics.

You collected your thoughts as you threw on an oversized tee and a pair of basketball shorts, typical pajamas for you. You then had FRIDAY tell your soulmates you were done and they could come in whenever. Almost instantly they were at your door and knocked, you told them to come on in so they did. “So why exactly did you burst into my room in the first place” you questioned. “Well, we didn’t know what time to be up tomorrow, and then when you didn’t answer the knocks we assumed the worst and needed to check on you” Steve explained. “6:00am, and uh, what are we going to do about the soulmate situation, like are we telling people or…..” Bucky and Steve softened at your question, glad that you didn’t outright reject them as your soulmates or something, the two guys sat down next to you on your bed and each grabbed one of your hands. “Doll, we’ve been waiting for you for over 70 years, we don’t want to hide it from anyone.” Bucky chuckled “if you’re okay with that of course,” he was quick to add after earning a look from Steve. “Yeah, I’m fine with that,” you smiled, “do you guys want to watch a movie, I’m not really tired after all this excitement” you offered. “I don’t know doll, we have to be up by 6:00am and according to a very beautiful dame, I need my beauty sleep since I’m so old,” Bucky teased. “ But if you were to say….move practice back to 7am then maybe we could stay,” Steve added. You shook your head and laughed, “hmmmm, alright I’ll move it back, but I get to pick the movie.”

You decided to watch Wizard of Oz, since it was one of your favorites when you were a kid. The guys had gone to put pajamas on and had come back right as you were done getting the movie ready. “Wizard of Oz? Gosh I haven’t seen this movie since before the war when Buck and I saw it in black and white in theaters!” Steve exclaimed, you hadn’t realized how old this movie was. Bucky, reminiscing, said “yeah and we never got to watch the end ‘cause you went and started a fight with that huge dude.” The two guys sat on either side of you on the bed, the bed wasn’t huge but it fit all three of you, even though you guys were fairly close to one another.

Turns out you three were tired, like really tired, but maybe it was just being in bed with your soulmates that made you fall asleep fast. And once again, Bucky couldn’t see the ending of the Wizard of Oz. Before the movie ended the three of you had fallen fast asleep. When you woke up you felt a weight around your waist, you didn’t remember falling asleep cuddled, but apparently sometime in the night you all moved to be in one huge cuddle pile. Your stirring awakened the two super soldiers, “mornin’ sweetheart, mornin’ Buck” Steve groggily said, god his morning voice was hot. “Morning Stevie, morning Buck” you cheerily said, being automatically awake in the morning as always. “Ugh go back to sleep, it’s too early for this shit” Bucky grumpily murmured. “Be careful Buck, you know Steve doesn’t like that sort of language.” You teased and Bucky groaned again. You kissed each of your soulmates on the forehead, grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to get changed.

The three of you made it down to the training area at 7:30, as Bucky refused to get out of bed without 10 minutes of cuddling with his two favorite people. You three trained for the physical side of the future mission before lunch and planned on doing the mental stuff after. You all headed into the common room for lunch. Everyone else was already in there and when you three walked in just started staring at you guys. “So, have fun last night?” Sam asks. Oh no, you didn’t think it would be this soon that you would have to tell them……

Previously…..

Everyone else was already in there and when you three walked in just started staring at you guys. “So, have fun last night?” Sam asks. Oh no, you didn’t think it would be this soon that you would have to tell them……

Bucky and Steve started glaring and Sam for insinuating something like that, but you saw a chance and took it. “Yes actually, we did! We talked about how we should get a fourth person for the team and we decided on you Sam! So we’ll need to train of course, so that’s 10miles of rough terrain running, and….” You we’re about to go on when Sam interrupted “Wait! What? No way, not gonna happen.” You and the super soldiers burst out laughing, so did the rest of the team once they realized you were joking. Sam just stuck his tongue out at you and went to sit down. “Nah, in all seriousness, we do have some news.” Steve said, being the first of the three of you to quit laughing. “We’re soulmates,” Bucky finished! The team went around and congratulated you guys, Bruce came up last and said, “ Congrats, I knew you would find them one day Y/N,” he then turned his attention to your soulmates, “ but if you hurt her, even in the slightest bit, I will turn into the Hulk and crush you to bits, then feed you to the fish.” You thanked Bruce and reassured the now terrified super soldiers he wasn’t being serious, well hopefully anyway.

You three decided to make tacos for lunch. You did the meat while you tasked the boys to cut up the lettuce and tomatoes. “Owww!” You heard Steve scream. You quickly turned around to see that Steve had cut his finger with the knife. “Steve, hon! Let me see,” you took a look at his finger and decided it didn’t need stitches, you had Bucky go grab the first aid kit and you fixed up Steve’s finger. You’d think for a super soldier he wouldn’t have been so whiny about a cut but he was. He claimed he was to injured to finish helping with lunch, he gave you and Bucky the puppy dog eyes so you let him off the hook. You and Bucky finished lunch and made up plates for all of you. Once you had finished it was back to training…or so you thought.

Apparently the guys had formulated a plan over lunch, instead of training, they were going to take you on a date to Coney Island. “Doll, come on, we aren’t training today.” “Like hell we aren’t! I’d prefer my boyfriends to not die in the jungle when I haven’t even gotten a chance to go on a date with them!” The boys smiled like dopes. “What?” You sharply said, a little annoyed that they wanted to skip training, you couldn’t, and wouldn’t let them die. “You called us your boyfriends” Steve responded while Bucky also added, “and we are taking you on a date instead of training, no arguing.” You reluctantly agreed, saying this would be the only time.

The three of you drove to the surprise location in your convertible, since it was a nice day out, and for some reason, one they wouldn’t tell you, you guys couldn’t take Bucky’s motorcycle. “Coney Island?!?!?,” you questioned excitingly, “ I’ve always wanted to go here, but every time I’m in town it’s closed or something!” “Yeah doll, and we can ride all the rides” Bucky started, but was interrupted by Steve, “yeah, no you guys can, but last time I went on the Cyclone I vomited and that is not happening again.” Bucky rolled his eyes and whispered to you that you two would convince him. “And then we are going to win you a prize at the game booths because that’s something boyfriends do, at least in the 40s they did.” You smiled, getting more and more excited, “and then I’ll win both of you a prize because it’s the 21st century and girlfriends can win prizes for their boyfriends too.” You three went and bought your tickets and wristbands and went into the theme park.

Bucky was right, you did convince Steve to ride Cyclone again, and he did vomit, again. You guys then went to the carnival games to win prizes for each other. Bucky and Steve both saw stuffed animal bears dressed up as them and decided they needed to win you them, so that when they went on missions the bears would be there for you. Luckily for them the bears were at the shooting game, and well, Bucky was a sniper, so they had this….or not. It took Steve 4 tries to win and Bucky 3, they were both very persistent on winning, and at that point it wasn’t about the bears anymore, but their pride. They gave you the bears and you gave them each a kiss on the cheek and thanked them. Then you saw the perfect prize to win them, it was at the hanging game, where you hung from a pull up bar, and if you could do it for 2 minutes you win 2 of any prize. You went over to play and Bucky questioned you, “Doll, are you sure, this game is really hard, I couldn’t even win it back before the serum.” “Oh I’m sure, hotstuff, just you wait and see.” Steve looked amused and excited to see if you would prove Bucky wrong. You payed the man running it and he started the timer once you started hanging. You were at the final 10 seconds and both Bucky and Steve were surprised you had made it this long. All of your muscles were burning but you were determined. “10 more seconds doll! You got this!” You completed the time and dropped down gracefully. You collected the prizes and gave them to your soulmates, they thanked you and the look on their faces were so worth it.

You guys ate some food that was probably not fit for human consumption, and rode some more rides. After that you guys went back to the tower, watched movies while cuddled together and got to sleep early, you were upping the training tomorrow, with only one week till the mission. There were of course nerves in the air about the mission, you guys had just found each other and you didn’t want any of you to get hurt or die. You would all be okay, hopefully….

AN: Ahh! Hope you guys enjoyed chapter 4! Chapter 5 will be out tomorrow or Saturday, I haven’t started writing it yet but I have my plan for it.
