Here was Pepper, at another event Tony hasn't yet showed up when she had almost pleaded for him to do so, at least this one time. Yes, she was now running Stark Industries but his presence was also of the essence. She was not going to lie and say she did not understand him because she did. The redhead would often also get bored and wish to go home just like Tony, but him not showing up was not what bothered her the most, it was him promising to be there and not showing up. She hated broken promises. Pepper couldn't even bring herself to bother with this anymore and get angry with Tony, however when she heard Rhodey's voice behind her she let out a desperate sign and turned to him, flashing a smile that lasted only a few seconds. Even him, with such a busy schedule with the military, had showed up. Unbelievable.

HE’D SEEN THE NEWS AND HALF AN HOUR LATER he took off. Fuck the military, fuck the government, fuck everything. He wasn’t asking permission or waiting and sitting around on his ass. It was easy enough to track Rhodey or, rather, it was easy enough to track the SUIT. When he touched down in the compound, Tony was on a warpath. One that, after a few road blocks he was more than happy to remove, led him to his best friend. He doesn’t hesitate to get the man untied, looking over his injuries with F.R.I.D.A.Y. in his ear giving him the RUNDOWN.  ❝ Hey, whoa, take it easy...I’ve got you. ❞  Tony uses the first aid capabilities in his suit to quickly close one of the man’s wounds. It would do until they got him back and to a hospital.  ❝ There’s a quinjet coming, you’ll be home in no time. ❞
