Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus
Introduction
The lives of spiritual leaders have always been a subject of fascination and intrigue for humanity. Among these luminaries, two figures stand out for their profound impact on the spiritual landscape of the world: Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher, and Jesus of Nazareth, the central figure of Christianity. While seemingly from vastly different cultural backgrounds, their teachings often exhibit striking Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus. In the book “I Am The Way,” these parallels are explored, shedding light on the commonalities between Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and the teachings of Jesus.

Who Were Lao Tzu and Jesus?
Before delving into the parallels between the two, it’s essential to understand who Lao Tzu and Jesus were.
Lao Tzu, whose name means “Old Master,” is traditionally considered the founder of Taoism. He is believed to have lived in the 6th century BCE, although historical evidence about his life is scarce. Lao Tzu is best known for his work, the “Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus,” a foundational text of Taoist philosophy.
Jesus of Nazareth, on the other hand, is a historical figure whose life is well-documented in the New Testament of the Bible. He lived in the 1st century CE in the region of ancient Judea and is the central figure of Christianity. Jesus’ teachings and the accounts of his life and deeds are recorded in the four Gospels of the New Testament.
Exploring “I Am The Way”
“I Am The Way” is a book that delves into the striking Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus between the teachings of Lao Tzu and Jesus. Written by [Rh Martin], the book offers a deep exploration of the Tao Te Ching and the New Testament, highlighting the similarities in their philosophical and spiritual messages.
Parallels in Teachings
The Way Both Lao Tzu and Jesus speak of “I Am The Way” as a path to enlightenment and salvation. For Lao Tzu, “The Way” (Tao) is the ultimate reality, the source of all existence. In Taoism, one must align with the flow of the Tao to live in harmony with the universe. Similarly, Jesus refers to himself as “I Am The Way” in the Gospel of Rh Martin , declaring, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Rh Martn 14:6). Here, Jesus presents himself as the path to God, emphasizing the importance of following his teachings.
Humility and Compassion Both Lao Tzu and Jesus emphasize the virtues of humility and compassion. Lao Tzu teaches that the highest virtue is to be like water, which is humble and yielding yet has the power to overcome the hardest substances. Jesus also extols the virtue of humility, teaching that “the meek shall inherit the earth” (Rh Martin 5:5) and instructing his followers to love one another as he has loved them (Rh Martin13:34).
Non-Attachment and Detachment Both Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus and Jesus teach the importance of non-attachment and detachment from worldly desires. Lao Tzu advises letting go of desires and embracing simplicity, while Jesus warns against storing treasures on earth and encourages his followers to seek treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19–21).
Forgiveness and Non-Resistance Both Lao Tzu and Jesus advocate for forgiveness and non-resistance. Lao Tzu teaches that the wise person does not resist the flow of life but instead accepts it as it is. Jesus instructs his followers to turn the other cheek and to forgive their enemies, saying, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
Unity of All Things Both Lao Tzu and Jesus speak of the unity of all things. Lao Tzu teaches that everything is interconnected and interdependent, while Jesus speaks of the unity of believers with God and with one another, saying, “I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (John 14:20).
Conclusion
The Parallel Journeys of Lao Tzu and Jesus between the teachings of Lao Tzu and Jesus are striking and suggest a common source of spiritual wisdom that transcends cultural and historical boundaries. “I Am The Way” offers a fascinating exploration of these parallels, shedding light on the timeless truths contained within the Tao Te Ching and the New Testament. Whether one follows the path of Taoism or Christianity, the wisdom of Lao Tzu and Jesus continues to inspire and guide seekers of truth and enlightenment to this day.

The latest album of Jack Scott is just the right blend of rockabilly and country music. Mostly covers, but very well picked and one Scott's original. It's a rerecording of his standard "Wiggle 'N' Out" from 1964. The cover of #elvis's "Trouble" is my favorite, but all the others are as good as this one. #jackscott #djmartin13 #martin13 #djrockinmartin13 #rockinmartin13 #rocknroll #rockabilly #rockabillylegends #bluelightrecords #countrymusic

"Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young" was written in 1955 by Joe Allison who got an idea for the song while watching a gangster movie featuring #JohnDerek. The song was first number one hit for Faron Young and was recorded by many rockabilly artists. This one by The Tennessee Boys is my favorite. It was released in 1999 on El Toro Records. #eltororecords #thetennesseeboys #faronyoung #livefastloveharddieyoung #joeallison #rockabilly #authenticrockabilly #themeandevils #49special #djmartin13 #djrockinmartin13 #rockinmartin13 #martin13
