It's great tea though 👌, it's called Maroccan Mint and the heat of the added ginger really adds to it. Also, I get to watch Discovery Channel. Wheeler Dealers. Repair Shop. Ah, this ain't so bad.

IMAGINING BURTON: A POP-UP THOUGHT ON THE VIOLENT PHENOMENA PART 1 Half way reading TVP and I can't help myself but to think about the first pages of this book. There's a name we're familiar with: Sir Richard Francis Burton and connected it to the recent book club meeting I once attended. Burton who's able to speak in 8 different languages has once translated the 1001 Arabian nights and the famous erotic book The Perfumed Garden (TPG) by Sheikh Nefzawi, a Maroccan writer in 1866. Burton translated TPG from the French manuscript printed by Isidore Liseux in the same year. The last chapter of the manuscript was left incomplete. The reason is: the censorship - the materials abt homosexuality and pederasty. With the standard of "morality" at that particular era that chapter will have to be removed. So here: translation isn't only a matter of art (Tiff @tiffanytsao says "it's not a guide book, boo!") but can also be political and ideological (Anton @antonhur once refer it to "you're not white!"-thingies) And here: I joined a book club a while ago in which the translator of the book we're discussing said: "the book is translated from the language X (which this translator doesn't speak nor understand) to English and I translated it into Bahasa Indonesia from English, but there are flaws in the English translated version." I was aghast at this statement as I started thinking "how would one know that there are flaws in the language X to English translated version without even knowing, speaking or understanding the source language?" So, let's imagine Burton while he's translating the Perfumed Garden from Liseux's manuscript in French! I know that Burton speaks very well Arabic and French but imagine if he doesn't speak Arabic - dun understand it nor the culture and only translated TPG from French into English; would he dare saying "there's a huge flaws in Liseux's?" Doesn't it sound too haughty? Des ✨ PS: wearing my rainbow-Pippi-Longstockings pairs of socks while sipping my (herbal) tea. Life ey?! Sunsets
Whenever my sisters see a beautiful sunset, they run to me to tell me so I look out the window.

Ghosts liveblog (I started it on the mfu discord, but it'll be more appropriate here)
guess who started watching ghosts at half past 11 on Halloween. I'm afraid I'll have to put a gag into my mouth because it's too funny and I'm not supposed to holler at night
There's even a scary girl who reads ringa ringa roses. It's BRILLIANT. you see, it was a thing in both Sapphire and Steel and The Protectors, I'm having a muncle fan moment
Everyone's gangsta until an actual scary thing happens
"We'll be overrun by people! Taunting us with their lives!" hard same, Thomas. Me about to enter a social environment.
A Maroccan tea party is an awfully handy phrase
The pigeon is the devil
Simon Farnaby really be serving some looks there with his bare legs and his sock garters
So, is everyone gonna start calling Mike "daddy"?
"Divorce him, kill yourself, marry me." Stop being such a mood, Thomas
Gotta learn lyrics to I'm the Very Model of a Modern Major General
Please, I hope the Captain finds love. I ship him with James, tbh. Those legs...
To be fair, Mike is the daddy
3 episodes watched, it was thoroughly enjoyable

Travel Diary - Morocco
As you’ve probably seen, I’ve been posting some pics of my recent trip to Morocco. I thought I’d also write a bit more about what we did there. I’ll also link to my pics just to make it a bit more convenient.
We first spent a few days in Marrakesh. Marrakesh is very busy, colorful and a little bit nuts. We stayed in a beautiful riad in the old part of town (the medina). There are a million riads and they all look so pretty with beautiful mosaics and stucco. We had delicious breakfast on the rooftop terrace each morning with homemade Moroccan pancakes and of course mint tea!
The medina is a labyrinth of narrow alleys. Just walking around and exploring everything is a big part of the experience. Just be prepared to be run over by a bike, motorbike or donkey at any minute! See some pics here.
There actually aren’t that many real sights. There’s Bahia Palace - a 19th century palace with beautiful courtyards and gardens and lots beautiful intricate architectural details. El Badi Palace is older (from the 16th century) and there are basically only ruins left. But it’s still beautiful in its own way. The Saadian Tombs are another place to see beautiful mosaics and stucco - it’s so pretty! In the new part of town, there’s the Jardin Majorelle - a colorful botanical garden with a villa that was the home of Yves Saint Laurent.
After a few days in Marrakesh, we went on a 3-day round trip to the Sahara desert. We first had to pass the Atlas Mountains, which gave us some really stunning views. The landscape was a lot more diverse than I expected. We also stopped at the ancient village of Ait Benhaddou which has been used as a set for Game of Thrones and other movies. We slept in a hotel in the mountains. The next there, there were more gorges and lush valleys until we finally arrived in the Sahara desert. We made a sunset camel ride through the dunes and then spent the night in a desert camp. Quite touristy but a unique experience nevertheless! The third day was filled with driving back the almost 600km to Marrakesh.
We had another day back in Marrakesh after that. We spent that day doing a cooking class. We met up at the market square and went shopping for the ingredients together in the Souks. We then went to the a riad with a beautiful courtyard full of orange trees where some Moroccan women helped us create some of the traditional Maroccan dishes. It was a lot of fun, would highly recommend!
We ended our trip in Essaouira - a small fishertown at the Atlantic coast. It was so relaxed after the craziness of Marrakesh. We just chilled out for a bit - reading on the balcony of our pretty riad, strolling through the streets, doing some last minute shopping, walking along the beach at susnet, drinking tea of course and eating some amazing fresh seafood. A great way to end our trip!
All in all, it was a really amazing trip! We saw a lot of interesting things that made some lasting impressions.

17.07. Marrakech
When I finally arrived in Marrakech, it kinda felt surreal to finally get to see Monique again after such a long time.
She was already at our hostel, so the first thing we did was to grab some local sweets and cookies, olives too as they are served with every meal, green tea and made ourselfes cosy up on the rooftop of our hostel. 🫖
We talked for hours as we saw the sun slowly setting over the skyline of Marrakech. 🌆
Later that evening we walked trough little streets around the medina and ended up visiting the night market. It was an crazy experience as everybody tried to sell something to us. It’s pretty hard to even make a decision when there are three people surrounding you with almost same menus. We still got to eat the maroccan soup, spinach, bread and olives.
It was crazy delicious.

With the money better spent on creating great products which are ethically sourced and supporting real causes and helping real people, rather than paying membership fee's so that we can put a logo on our website.
