whenever i describe my marley i tend to describe him as "he's all heart".

and i mean that in the worst way.

my guy is a creature of emotion. he's in touch with feelings in a way ellen isn't. he's good with humans. he knows how they work. he has feelings, even before he's a ghost.

but the thing with him is that he feels things in all the bad ways. he's vain and greedy and arrogant. he has a temper, and he cycles through anger to fury to cold disregard. he wants things, wants things so badly that it makes him do bad things. he's callous and cruel, and is motivated by his own emotions. ellen might do something cruel its because she's convinced herself its logical. marley will do something cruel because its in his whim.

marley's all heart. and he ignores his own heart. he makes his chain link by link, and heartstring by heartstring.
