And the first design of the year is out! The Snek Earrings passed the prototype tests and are now ready for ordering! Just over 1.3" long, these spiral cobras tuck their tails through your ears, and guard you through out the day. Okay, I am starting to get noticeably better at this. Starting on a design request from a friend, a tweak of a design I used to make in metal clay, but taking it farther, making it a little more. A little something special. This image just shows me working out the basics. The details, math, staying within the production constraints, etc, will be the tricky part, and will come later. Have I said lately how much more I like CAD designing vs metal clay? Testing stones for setting before these hit the tumbler and their final hand polishing. 6mm round CZ's in the back bangle, and 5mm round genuine peridots in the drop earrings up front. On to the next design. This one I have some basic sketches for, as well as the center stone. Asscher cut cubic zirconia, 6mm. I like CZ. It's a hard, durable, affordable stone, and a high quality one (like this one) is striking set well. I'll be back in a few days with the finished setting and design (minus the stone in it) if all goes well. And since it's me in charge of Netflix tonight... Time to pick a new show! Day Two on this one. (The booleans gave me a lot of trouble, but it's moving along now. It feels slow to me right now, because I'm still learning. Still a lot of frustration, too. I've tried enough new skills to know it's all part of the process.) This one is taking even longer because the primary selection button on my mouse died, so I'm using the laptop touchpad until the replacement mouse arrives.
