So as well all know, Philadelphia has a decent transit system with one major gap, the Northeast of Philadelphia is completely unserved by either Trolleys or Subways. This is not intentional as a subway was planned for the Northeast, this subway is called the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway and would have been a branch line on the Broad Street Line, it would be expected to have 100k daily riders and is incredibly easy to build as Roosevelt Boulevard has a very wide median in place because it planned to always have the subway
Here is vaguely what it could look like on a map
And yes, it is incredibly long and would add a new station to the Market-Frankford Line as well

Service will be diverted to 40th & Market Streets on Monday, February 6 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. due to scheduled track work. Passengers may transfer to the Market- Frankford Line.
Effective Feb 7
My friends. I present to you the septa time paradox
#this is a regular way they phrase things too#this is actually more clear than usual because it tells me it's effective this morning#rather than leaving me wondering how to parse 'on monday the 6th'

Okay, Philly food recs. Everything is walking distance from the El (Market Frankford Line subway).
My one big center city rec that I found by chance one day: Su Xing house (1508 sansom st) is a great vegetarian Chinese restaurant. Their general tsos tofu is like eating spicy clouds. If you want the clouds without the spice get the sesame tofu). They have an extremely broad menu that ranges from fairly Americanized to authentic stuff. I remember their lunch specials being a great deal
The rest are all West Philly:
Manakeesh cafe at 4420 walnut street is a great Lebanese bakery and cafe. They do all sorts of Lebanese pastries, both sweet and savory, shawarmas, manakeesh flatbreads etc. And they’ve got a tea/coffee/smoothie/crepe bar and a small specialty grocery area. They have a great little outdoor seating area as well as a bunch of indoor seating. Great atmosphere to work in. Heads up, they do close during the daylight hours during Ramadan.
Abyssinia has amazing Ethiopian food, including plenty of great vegetarian food if that’s what you’re looking for. 229 S 45th street. A block south of manakeesh. There’s also a little bar upstairs “Upstairs at Abyssinia” that’s open in the evenings
The green line cafe is a fun lil coffee shop to work in with a few locations in the city, including several in west Philly.
LOCAL 44. 4333 spruce street. Amazing hipster brunch and it’s got a great beer selection, as well as a bottle shop next door. This is deeply important because it can be quite annoying to buy alcohol in PA.
If you want to buy craft popsicles that feel ridiculous to buy but are delicious af, the Lil Pop Shop is at 265 S 44th St
And, finally, if you want to connect with people who lived in philadelphia before 2018, talk about how tragic it is that the whole local capogiro gelato chain closed forever
Enjoy Philly!!!
Thank you so much!!! Honestly this is so thoughtful????? Like you just saw a post where i talk about moving to Philly soon and decided to give me detailed recommendations??? That’s so sweet??? Thanks!!!!

One of the great things about Philly is that it’s a pretty walkable city. The public transportation options, on the other hand, aren’t so hot. I took the regional rail to get into Center City all the time, and then the Market-Frankford line to get to the places I wanted to go in Old City and Society Hill, but I never took the Broad Street Line until a few weekends ago because I never had a compelling reason to take it before. It is super-convenient to the hotel we like to stay at, and now that they’ve finally eliminated tokens, paying for it is a breeze, so I doubt it will be my last.

service changes, frequency under Bus Revolution
SEPTA’s Bus Revolution project proposes to simplify sprawling Route G, an important connection between West Philadelphia and South Philadelphia that also provides access to the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines. Okay so I rolled again and got 19082 Upper Darby PA and I think I hit the transit jackpot, it contains the 101 and 102 trolleys, the end point of the Market-Frankford Line, and the Norristown High-speed Line, giving you easy access to Norristown and Philadelphia as well as other suburbs on the west side like Bryn Mawr, Sharon Hill or Drexel Manor. Additionally it is an urban area and has a transit accessible Hmart, 9.5/10
Okay so I decided to generate a random zip code in the US and rate the transit in it, I got 07042 which is in Montclair, NJ.
The zip code covers the southern half of Montclair and much of the historic center of the town. It is home to 3 stops on the Montclair-Boonton Line which connects the city to New York, Hoboken and Boonton. It additionally has several bus lines in the city and out to other parts of New Jersey
There is decent density and walkability around the Bay and Walnut street stops but the Watchung Avenue stop is in a rather suburban area.
Overall with 3 stops in a roughly 3k acres, it has rather good walkability and transit access, as well as an art museum, I would give Montclair a solid 7/10
Zip code was generated here
