What Could Have Been
Sebastian Sallow x f!Reader (Unspecified Hogwarts House)
Word Count: 3.4k
Content Warnings: Heavy angst. This is not a very happy fic.
Summary:
She had been in love with Sebastian Sallow for some time. And she was afraid of having something to lose. After all, she knew all too well that good things always came to an end.
Now it was their last night together. What were they willing to lose?
Also available on AO3
"I don’t know how to mend it, When this chapter ended, When all of my plans have depended on you. But at least tonight we’ll still pretend, Hold each other close like it’s not the end.” - from "Dearly Departed" by Marianas Trench
Time had passed much too quickly. It felt like yesterday that she walked into the Great Hall for the first time, head spinning with the buzzing noise of students talking. The room still sounded the same—but it was now her last time sitting there as a student.
Tomorrow morning, the last term of her seventh year would be over. She had no more classes to attend, no more essays to write, no more detentions to be served. She knew at least part of her should have been excited, but all she felt was dread. Was she the only one feeling like this? Was it because she had had so little time to enjoy her time here, compared to the rest of her classmates? She’d found that being a student at Hogwarts was much more than learning magic. It was having a home, knowing there was some place to belong. It was building friendships that felt more like family.
She knew she was being a bit silly about all of it—after all, she wouldn’t really be leaving Hogwarts. Professor Hecate had offered her an apprenticeship; she had seen the girl’s talent in fighting the Dark Arts first hand in her fifth year, and thought she would make a wonderful Defense Against the Dark Arts professor when the time came. She wouldn’t be leaving. But nearly everyone else would.
As she looked around the Great Hall, her eyes rested on each of her friends. Garreth was beginning his own line of potions—he was already doing well. Poppy was going into the Ministry, working to preserve Magical Creatures. Imelda had been accepted to fly with the Holyhead Harpies. They all had adventures to go on, lives to live freely. This was their parting of ways—would they ever be all together again?
Her throat tightened as she saw Ominis and Sebastian sitting together across the room. Of all the friends she’d miss, they were easily at the top of her list. There had been a while she truly worried their little trio wouldn’t pull through. After Soloman’s death, Ominis found being around Sebastian almost unbearable—he felt a great deal of responsibility for the man’s demise. For that time, Sebastian was pretty much completely alone. But she had stepped in. She couldn’t let him wallow in his guilt (and there were times it had nearly consumed him) and tried to pull him back off the dark path he’d started treading. While not guilty in the same way, she a semblance of what he had been feeling—when Professor Figg died, she tore herself up for months afterward, grieving and regretting. Sebastian had helped her through it. They had learned to depend on one another when they weren’t feeling strong enough on their own. They had each other—and that was enough. Sebastian swore off the Dark Arts forever, and he was finally serious. There was no way to completely rid himself of the burden of his guilt—a guilt that had come from using an Unforgivable Curse. He never wanted to feel that way again.
After some time, Ominis saw the change in Sebastian. The two began talking again—and they had pulled through. She was glad. She didn’t know what she would do without them both.
Poor Ominis was going back home with his family, now that he was done with school—at least for a little while. He was planning on buying some little cottage and leaving them as soon as possible. And Sebastian—she had to look away from him as the memories clouded her head.
It had just been a month ago. He’d sent her an urgent letter, telling her to meet in the Undercroft. When she had entered the room, he’d been pacing back and forth. This worried her. Usually, Sebastian only paced when he was concerned or thinking hard about something. But as soon as he spotted her, his face broke out into a wide grin.
“I’ve got great news!” he said, marching up to her. “I’ve finally found a solid lead for Anne’s curse!”
Her mouth dropped open. After all that time, Sebastian had never stopped looking for a cure for Anne. They were hardly on speaking terms—or more send-the-occasional-letter terms, really—but he was still looking for the cure he was sure was out there.
“A lead?” she asked. “How? What is it?”
The whole story came spilling out of his mouth, and he spoke faster than she had ever seen him do. He detailed of the letters he sent, the books he had tracked down for mere sentences of information. But it had concluded in learning of some wizard who had extensive knowledge of healing curses.
“He’s agreed to help me. He’ll have loads to show me—to teach me. I’m sure something he knows will help Anne,” Sebastian said. “I leave for America at the end of the year.”
She swore her heart shattered.
Sebastian, gone to chase after a man in America? Why would he have done anything different? He’d always done everything he could for Anne—his care for his sister was still one of his driving forces. She loved that about him.
Yes, loved. She loved Sebastian Sallow with every bit of her heart and soul. He was a troubled young man—but one who persevered through his problems with an unyielding determination. He was passionate in everything he did. He was like a fire, spreading himself far and wide with a heat and excitement that astonished her. And there were those times he calmed down enough to be a focused flame on the wick of a candle—something warm and careful, a light when the world seemed black.
She had never told him this. Just as he had never told her how he felt. But it was there—present in every word, every moment they had together. It was there in the sleepless nights they spent in the Undercroft, fending away nightmares. It was there in the brushing of hands, the whispers of “are you ok?” It was there in aching embraces when it all became too much.
She couldn’t tell him. No, she had always told herself, it was better left unspoken. Better left in the dark, where it could fade away when it had run its course.
Better left where it wasn’t something to lose.
Because that was what she was afraid of, wasn’t it? Both her and Sebastian had already lost so much. Families, friends, innocence—it had all been whisked away from them. To place hope in something—to give life to something good—well, losing it could be the end of either of them.
That didn’t mean she didn’t want it—and God, did she want it desperately. There had been times she’d written it in a letter, only to burn it in the fireplace. Times she almost closed the distance between them, breaching the invisible wall they’d put up. There were nights she had stared up at the ceiling, deciding that tomorrow, tomorrow she’d throw all caution to the wind and let herself be happy for once, dammit.
But now, she was all out of tomorrows.
Tomorrow, he left for America. Tomorrow, he was no longer hers. Tomorrow, she would be alone.
There was no guarantee she would ever see him again. She’d run through every possibility in her head—it was all she had done since he’d told her his plans a month ago. He could go and find a cure, inviting Anne to join him across the sea. Maybe he’d find work there—be an apprentice to the healer, follow in his footsteps. Maybe—and this is what she feared the most—maybe he’d find some beautiful American girl, one who Sebastian for the dashing man he so obviously was, and he’d fall in love.
He could have asked her to come with him. It was that thought that hurt her the most. She already knew what her answer would have been—a complete and undeniable yes. She would have followed him anywhere, if he had only asked. But he didn’t.
How could he have asked that of her? To leave the home she had so recently found for some mere possibility? To leave a job that had been all but promised to her, to abandon everything she had come to know… No, no… he couldn’t ask that of her.
She still would have said yes.
She said yes that very night, after her thoughts had cleared. It wasn’t to America that he had asked her to follow—only to the Restricted Section of the library.
“For old time’s sake,” he said. He smiled down at her, his dark brown eyes enticing her.
She smiled back. It had been one of their first adventures together—might as well be their last, too. “How could I say no to an offer like that?”
And off they went. They waited together in the Great Hall until most of the other students had gone off to bed, following the rule of curfew—a rule both she and Sebastian had long since disregarded. She said goodnight to Ominis and other friends as they filed out, making them promise to send letters. She couldn’t think too hard about the goodbyes—it would break her. Instead, she focused on the Disillusionment Charm she cast on herself as she and Sebastian walked quietly through the halls. She heard Sebastian chuckle beside her. She looked over at him, only seeing a hazy blur of motion in the shadows.
“Something funny over there?” she said quietly.
“Do you remember the first time we did this? You didn’t even know the Disillusionment Charm, and yet you were ready to go barging into the library, no second thoughts about it.”
She smiled. “I was a bit brash then, wasn’t I?”
“You say that like you aren’t now.”
“Oh hush. I’m plenty brash. The difference is now I know enough to keep it from being my downfall.” She poked her head around the corner, eyes scanning for any prefects in the hall. She didn’t spot any, stepping forward. “Looks clear.”
Into the library they went, sneaking easily past the dim lights and empty tables. Scribner didn’t seem to be there. Turned in early, perhaps, to prepare for travel the next day.
At last they were marching down the familiar stairs of the Restricted Section. Even in her shortened time in Hogwarts, she was sure she came second to only Sebastian in the time any student had spent there.
Sebastian sighed in comfort, taking the charm off of him. He went to a nearby shelf, finger brushing over the spines of familiar books. “Sure am going to miss having my own private library,” he said.
“You’ll be miserable,” she told him. “I’d suggest packing enough books to keep you on your boatride over, but I doubt even an enchanted case could hold that many.”
He laughed. “I’d say you’re making fun of me for all my reading, but it’s too true to be much of a joke.”
“A proper and thorough education is nothing to make fun of, dear Sebastian.” She stood beside him, staring at the shelves. “You reckon you’ve really read every one?” “Twice over,” he said confidently.
“Then which one is your favorite?”
He thought for a moment. “It’s this way,” he said, leading her around the corner. Then he leaned down, staring hard at a lower shelf, arms crossed as he searched. Then he smiled. “Here we are!” The book he pulled out was intricately designed, with weaving patterns of gold decorating the cover. It was thick and clearly old, but well kept. “It’s a book of children’s tales. Some of them are quite gruesome, of course, and describe a bit too much of the curses and hexes in the stories, hence the being in the Restricted Section. The story I like is just fine, though.” He leafed through the pages, finally settling on a moving drawing of a maiden weeping, looking out a window.
“Seems cheery,” she commented.
“Well, it’s not for the most of it, but it ends alright. Happily ever after and all that,” he said, turning the pages. He was quiet at the moment, staring at the words the end on the last page of the story. “I think it’s the only one with a happy ending in the whole book. I don’t really remember much of the story.”
She didn’t know what to say to that. It was… too real. Too fitting. He had to be wondering the same thing she was—would either of them have a happy ending? Were they lucky enough to be the single story in a book of sorrow that ended well? If their lives leading up to this point were any indication, she was inclined to say no.
They spent a bit longer browsing books, Sebastian showing off some of the interesting spells and facts he had learned there. It was a walk down memory lane—one that she found comforting on that last night. Finally, they grew bored of already read books and parchment, and made their way back up the stairs. They had charmed themselves to fade away against the stone walls of the castle, and made their way together through them. She paused suddenly when she heard voices up ahead.
“I’ve still got to finish grading the last essays they turned in.” She recognized the voice, of course—Professor Weasley.
“That’s why I went with a practical exam for the final. Less papers to go through,” Professor Onai replied.
Sebastian grabbed her hand from behind her—they were just around the corner. It was much too bright in this corridor—the charm would do nothing to conceal them. So, she let Sebastian pull her into a classroom just beside them. Well, she thought it was a classroom until she tried to step back and found a wall directly behind her. It was a closet—barely big enough to hold them both.
Sebastian stood directly in front of her, trying to peer through the crack between the door and wall. He looked so awfully serious as he did—she couldn’t help the small laugh that bubbled up through her lips. Sebastian’s eyes widened at the sound, and his scandalized expression only made her laugh harder. He dove forward, pressing his hand over her mouth.
“Are you trying to get us caught?” he whispered. The voices of the professors had passed them by, leaving them in silence once again.
She tugged away the hand over her mouth. “What are they going to do? Expel us?”
Now it was his turn to laugh. “Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Black to do something like that.”
“It would sure allow you to be remembered here,” she said. “Sebastian Sallow, the brilliant, troublemaking boy who made it all the way to his last day before getting kicked out.”
“Don’t forget his sidekick, who got the both of them kicked out with her ridiculous laughing.”
She gasped. “Oh, I’m the sidekick, am I?”
“Well, most stories prefer to have a dashing and likable main character, and I fit that quite well, I think.”
“I think you’re forgetting which of us wields a very rare kind of ancient magic.”
He waved a hand. “Semantics.”
They were grinning at each other, light dim in the closet. She adored that mischief in his eyes. It made her feel alive. But slowly, his grin faded, face becoming more serious.
No, she thought. No, he can’t say it. I can’t let him say it.
“Do you want to go down to the boathouse?” she asked, before he had the chance to open his mouth.
He nodded. “We couldn’t dare forget to say goodbye to our dear old friend, the squid.”
She playfully shoved his shoulder before opening the door to the closet. The both of them tumbled out and soon found themselves outside, cool breeze blowing over them. The night sky was clear; the stars glimmered in the sky.
Sebastian sat at the edge of the boathouse’s dock. She quickly joined him.
“I’m going to miss this view,” Sebastian said quietly.
It really was something. The Black Lake reflected the moonlight and stars, making her feel like she was surrounded by the night sky.
She felt Sebastian’s gaze shift to her. “I’m going to miss you, you know.”
She bit her lip. “Don’t say that.”
“Why not? It’s true.”
“Just because it’s true doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt,” she said softly.
It took him several moments to respond. “I know,” he finally whispered. He reached for her hand, taking it her own. “I don’t know what I would have done all this time without you.”
His voice was soft—softer than she’d ever heard it. She was so used to his confidence, his bravado. This softness scared her. It was too close to what they shouldn’t say. It implied too much.
But she decided to let herself have that moment. They would toe the edge without coming over. They’d get close to that line, but never cross it. She leaned against his shoulder, resting her head on him.
“I’m glad I met you, Sebastian. Truly.”
She felt his body tense at the words—she knew exactly what was going through his head. How could that be the truth? How could she be glad to meet him, after all the pain he had put her through? She stayed quiet, letting the words sink in. The sincerity of them.
“I’m glad I met you, too. Even if you had to knock me on my arse to do it,” he said quietly.
She laughed a bit, relaxing into him. If she could just stay in this moment—this one where she could pretend he wasn’t leaving in a few short hours, this one where they held each other close, as if the words had been spoken, as if it was how it could be, she would.
But she knew too well that all good things had an end, and this night was just the same. She didn’t know how long they had sat in silence, staring out across the water. It felt like lifetimes. It felt like seconds. Then they stood and began walking back to the castle.
He didn’t let go of her hand. She was grateful for the comfort—she needed every once of it. He led her to her common room as they unspokenly decided to get it over with; to let the night end.
With every breath, she felt her chest tighten. She had to let it go. He had never been hers—she needed to remember that. Nothing was ending, because it had never begun.
They stood, face to face, in front of her common room door. She let go of his hand and threw her arms around him, pulling him into an embrace. His arms didn’t hesitate to hold her tight against him—like he was afraid to let go. She felt the pounding of his heart, his warm breath against her neck as he buried his face into it. All too soon, they broke apart.
She stared up at him. Ask me. Ask me to come with you.
I’d follow you. I’d say yes.
But he didn’t say anything. Instead, he took a small step backward, letting the distance come between them. It was better this way, she thought. Of course it was.
He was just about to turn to go when she spoke.
“Seb-Sebastian,” she said. Was her voice really that frantic? He turned around, facing her again. There was hope on his face—paired with dread. Her next words came out soft. “Write me, will you?”
He nodded, still staring at her.
And then Sebastian Sallow ruined it all.
He marched up to her, placing his hand on her cheek, and before she could even think, he crashed his lips into her own. Her hands came up to grip his robe, holding him there, keeping them together. It was searing and haunting, soft and horrible. It was everything she had ever dreamed of, and that made it all the more painful.
They parted. His eyes were closed as he pried her hands off of him. And then he left.
She walked into the common room, shaking. She didn’t even have time to think if the room was empty or not before she collapsed to the ground, sob tearing out of her throat.
He had done it. The idiot had done it. He had given her everything, and now she had lost it. The taste of what could have been haunted her—she knew in that moment that she would never be free. It would follow her each morning she woke up without him. It would keep her awake each night. She had gotten too close to the flame—she’d let herself burn.
She wept, trying to forget the heat of his kiss—his kiss goodbye.
A/N: ... sorry about that, folks. This was heavily inspired by the song "Dearly Departed" by Marianas Trench, hence the title and quote above. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
Thanks for reading!

La petite robe noire
salut mes ami(e)s et welcome to Reverb 2024, La petite robe noire! i've had so much fun putting together this story with my artist partner @jadedkappa. it's been such a treat to hang out with you over these past couple of months, even with our crazy décalage horaire de 9 heures !!!
pls enjoy this very silly Art School AU, featuring a Death the Kid POV (a very fun experiment for me haha), lots of shenanigans, and of course, a sprinkle of Soul/Maka. big love to @toweroftunes for betaing and to the @reverbmod team for hosting and reviving this event! check out the beginning of the story below!! <3
If there's one thing Death the Kid hates, it's chaos.
Bound to one of his kitchen barstools, he taps a foot impatiently as he stares down at his phone, the crease between his brows forming a trench of Mariana depths as yet another message lights up his notifications.
He doesn't hate group projects, in theory. In practice, however, he is forced to remember the company he keeps, his hailstorm of a cohort of classmates and the inevitable chaos they incite at every turn. He wants to rip his hair out - though he knows this would disturb both his haircut and his perfect dye job, so he refrains. Sporting an off-kilter coiffe feels like he's breaking some kind of art school law. The rule of thirds for the scalp, as it were.
Ping, ping, ping! He reaches across the kitchen island to silence the phone, fingers clenched around a lukewarm cup of coffee that is doing nothing to combat his frazzled nerves. His screen continues to betray him with a whack-a-mole assortment of pop-ups, new windows appearing faster than he can close them.
It's not even technically a group project - he'd elected to bring his friends into this, though he's the only one getting a grade. As a fashion design student, he needs to be able to 'play nice with others', as his father had so cheerfully suggested throughout his youth. Over the years, he had mostly succeeded in fine-tuning his people-averse personality to make that happen. In this particular instance, the handsome compensation he'd offered them had certainly helped to grease the wheels.
The true chaos had started with the unfortunate development of this group chat. As much as this project is his brainchild, that had not been his idea.
It'll be easier to keep in touch with people! Liz had said. We can be creative together! Patty had said. You can stay organized, Liz had added at his continued reticence and, forever beholden to the concept of organization, this argument had been compelling enough for him to cave.
The chat is decidedly disorganized. Black Star has been sending them byte after byte of explosion noises with no end in sight, for seemingly no reason at all. Liz drops Instagram makeup tutorials every ten minutes - most of which seem suspiciously targeted at her own makeup needs instead of their project, but he digresses. Patty has been sending eyeshadow swatches, which she's been practicing on everything skin-like in the house - a definition that, he'd recently discovered, can differ greatly from person to person. In entirely related news, he must now deep-clean all of his silicone muffin tins after this project is done.
He's wading through chaos, up to the waist of his perfectly-pressed pants. He feels like a puzzle with pieces scattered every which way, and the most important ones are still lying under the table, invisible to the eye and impossible to meld with the others.
Choose a classic piece of clothing, and promote it through a printed poster and a video advertisement. This is the task he has been set, and while he's assembled a qualified team for both the poster and the ad, he's still lacking in both article and model for said piece. Without those two things, he's a sitting duck in his little chaos-pond.
At this moment, Liz walks in, surveys him in his state of many discomforts, and offers him a metaphorical hand.
"Do you want me to show you how to turn off notifications?" she says, expression deadpan.

Also also also also BC interactiion, tEll meeee your fave line from s&co
Honestly a favorite line is so hard to choose, there’s so many that live in my mind rent-free,,, hmmmm, honestly it’s harder because of aforementioned Atrocious MemoryTM
The whole “She wrote Jonk on my cup! I mean, who’s called Jonk? Oh congratulations, what are you gonna call ‘im? Jonk. Yeah! I also do love when Mariana talks to Archie in Spanish, she’s so funny (I do speak Spanish so I get to enjoy those in their full glory pff)
As for your art request;

Hello! Could you tell me more about Charlie being a heart player in your Homestuck AU? I'm really interested to see your thought process ahuu (P.S. LOVE YOUR ART IT'S ADORABLE!!! 💖💫)
Sure! I've already spoken about him HERE though consider this current ask as a deeper dive now that we know more about him.
SLIME AND THE HEART ASPECT
To define: the Heart aspect concerns itself with identity and emotional intuition, and how one views themselves. Ironically enough Heart concerns with the mind itself in contrast to its opposite the Mind that deals with rational thinking, and the persona that one consciously puts on for the world. Wwhwh which is why I like comparing q!Slime (heart-player) and q!Quackity (mind-player) so much because while they are in ways similar, their places of concern are very different.
"They simply want to understand the one thing we all are stuck with for our entire lives, i.e. our own minds." -- Hiveswap Extended Zodiac
About Slime he's a very emotionally driven person with everything he does he puts his all into it, and those motivations often originate from how he feels about the situation. Big examples being HIS love for his daughter, HIS resentment for his wife back during the trial, and while these motivations involve other people. If it weren't for any outside intervention, a lot of the decisions he makes are absolute, thinking if he were to do things like kill the other eggs out of love and sacrifice q!Mariana because he couldn't forgive what she did, not to mention send HIMSELF into eggxile because he hates himself - that these solutions were his only way out. His determination is both his strength and his flaw in the sense his thinking can be so clouded by the one emotion - and that's what makes him such a Heart-player.
"Forging an identity is extremely important to the Heart-bound, and every decision and action goes toward building a coherent narrative of their own story." - Hiveswap Extended Zodiac
A/N: these next parts as go more in depth about Slime and relationships with other people with a dash of classpect lingo in there. The answer is above you, you do not need to read anything below ToT [ more undercut ]
Other than his emotions, identity (like Heart-players do) to Slime's character is also very important when thinking about him and the problems that stem from his self-image. It is the reason why Gegg exists to Slime as this separate entity - similar to what splinters are to Dirk Strider, Gegg is a division of Slime. I've spoken about Gegg and Slime's roles in under THIS thread, an extract:
Gegg is not only a coping mechanism but the part of him that still wishes to be loved- and when he is it’s addicting but it comes at a price for his honesty (and his literal voice). When he is Gegg there is a unique way he carries himself - he’s confident, ambitious, and a little silly the kind of thing that draws everyone near and he does so because he’s new. Charlie has messed up so many times he feels like a lost cause, and becoming Gegg exists as his second shot at life crime-free. Gegg is the part of Slime that embodies his desires, and Charlie is the part that represents what he believes he needs…. Or smth like that.
SLIME AND THE HEIR CLASS
(debunk) Alternatively Slime could also be a Prince of Heart (one that destroys the self) though based on peer review on that classpect's goals, I feel pinning Slime's goal as 'destroying heart' is a little too morbid for his story. Mind, you being a Prince of Heart isn't completely a BAD thing - I just don't feel destruction of heart is neither the right message or answer for Slime's problems. Furthermore, Slime does not ghost his opposing aspect (Mind) like the prince class usually does, Slime is NOT a rational thinker -- he is moved by the heart more than anything. A/N: 'ghosting' in classpect terms means to appear as the player's opposing aspect on surface level. Eg from the surface Dirk elicits Mind characteristics when in reality he is Heart. (LOL I just learnt what this was today)
Which leads to Slime's association as an Heir of Heart instead. This is the ability to invite the manipulation of the heart, and in other words quite literally become their aspect (yknow typical Slimecicle PC behaviour).
Slime being an Heir of Heart means he is easily swayed by his emotion as it changes constantly to new situations like from the Trial, to Eggxile, to the Elections and so on. He is also very empathetic to others and it is the way that he cares about them is what influences the choices he makes based on what HE thinks is best for the situation NOT because someone else told him to.
Notes from outside sources: "An Heir of Heart would have an amazingly well developed sense of compassion and empathy, and in fact may find it hard not to empathize with even the most evil and hurtful of people." -dahniwitchoflight This part connects especially to his friendship with Quackity (both of them), that while he was suspicious of his intentions throughout the debate Slime still sympathises with Quackity because he is his friend and the history they share goes too deep to abandon (psycho4psycho solidarity). Same goes for Slime and q!Foolish during the election debates. He doesn't hold any grudges for him when he understands that his apprehension stems from fear (something Slime has felt many times before).
"ASURA: The Heir of Heart is naturally protected by their splinters. The Heir’s splinters would exist as unruly spirit-like guardians who look out for them. In times of need the Heir can make physical manifestations of their splinters" - creative-classpect I absolutely love this take on splinters and heirs! Especially with Gegg in a way he to Slime acts as a guardian Slime will turn to him on the defensive. Honestly the ideal relationship between Slime and Gegg we might not ever see u_u
"The Heir of Heart is one who inspires change in the emotions and souls of others. They cause people’s emotional state to change for the better. Bringing out good emotions and allowing people to express their inner and true selves." - classpector
Looking more into Gegg's story during the Election arc we see examples of this power through his debates. His speeches inspiring change and consolation amongst other candidate runners to rally against the Federation. Yet at the same time these speeches can evoke fear, bringing out their true nature - like Foolish trying to shoot him, ElQuackity despite being a political rival instinctually diving to protect Gegg, influence on q!BBH to push through his paranoia and support Gegg while he was still in the running thus making that care package. Gegg was able to inspire those around him, and in the long run inspire Slime to one day love and accept every part of himself.
DAPDUO and Psicologoier Therapy Session: An interaction I think often about being the interaction between Slime and q!Roier (Melissa) during the therapy session with Quackity and how well it represents the difference in interactions between two Heart-players (Heir and Witch) and also how well it's a juxtaposition on where these two characters are in life despite having the same aspect. [You can read about q!Roier's classpect HERE]
QUACKITY: Well maybe her (Melissa) more than anybody can understand us. SLIME: Melissa, do you ever think feel like you wanna be someone else? MELISSA: No :3 SLIME: Do you ever wish that you could ever get a fresh start? MELISSA: No ^_^ SLIME: Do you ever think you could be sexy Peter Griffin? I do... MELISSA: Nope! x]c SLIME: Do you ever feel like everyone hates you - because everyone like tells you that they hate you no matter who you try to be it's always wrong? MELISSA: Hm actually! Nope! :D
On one hand for personas such as Melissa, Roier is very attuned to them and works alongside them - whilst with Slime and Gegg it was a constant struggle to maintain control and cooperation until the very end as there were characteristics in both Gegg and Slime that Slime was struggling to accept.
SLIME: WELL MY HOUSE WAS ALREADY ROBBED. I GOT ROBBED OF A DAUGHTER. SO NOW I TRY TO FIND MEANING IN ANYWAY I CAN AND RIGHT NOW THATS FUCKING GEGG. SO IM SORRY IF IM NOT THE SON YOU WANTED ME TO BE!
SLIME: Everyone hates me. Every single person on the server I tried I tried and they all hate Gegg.
Oh shit and also:
SLIME: But... What if there's a chance Gegg really could make a friend, and that takes it away? QUACKITY: Gegg has one friend already - Quackity. SLIME: Then Gegg... Will help the friend that loves Gegg.
Evidence that as a Heir of Heart Slime's emotions can be easily swayed. This comes up again after the QSMP Dinner with ElQuackity showing the difference between the motivations between someone of Heart and someone of Mind who recognises the vulnerability of Heart.
I'm sure there's more things to unpack with that session, not just for Slime but for Quackity and Roier as well and 100% recommend watching it for yourself. Grabbed these from the QuackitytooVODS channel and the session starts at the 1:01:50 mark.
Did an analysis on Dapduo in THIS ask which while doesn't reference classpects it alludes to their dynamic as Heart and Mind.
If you made it this far: congratulations. I'm so sorry.
#ask stufff#stufff rambles#(like a lot. be careful)#slimecicle#classpect#qsmp#qsmpblr#insanely long maybe I'll draw a picture for your troubles one day my bad XP#i love qSlime a lot ok

Happy invention of the Caeser salad day and also the 4th of July. Today was a pretty good but very sweaty day. The humidity would be pretty oppressive. But I am sitting on the water downtown waiting to the fireworks now. I feel happy. I am really glad I decided to come back home to be here. It's been so fun people watching.
Camp was good too! It was just really humid. I tried my best to not focus on it but I felt gross being so damp. Which also made the bugs bother me so bad. But I tried to remain positive.
Last night after my post Callie would come back to the cabin and we would have some laughs and some conversation. Her new boy called and I tried to not be a part of the convo but I did at times and it was real silly. Also a mouse was running around the rafters and we were screaming and it was so silly.
I fell asleep pretty easy. I would get woke up a few times because I was uncomfortable and was tossing and turning. Waking up wasn't horrible when my alarm went off but I wasn't thrilled. I would take forever to get washed up and dressed. I was trying to do to many things and would keep getting off track but it was fine. And pretty soon I was walking to the art building.
It was shocking how humid it was. Walking up there I was huffing and puffing and struggling to breath the heavy air. It was not comfortable. I thought I was going to pass out. I just wanted to sit down so bad.
But I pushed through and would put my laundry bag and changes of clothes I had carried up from the cabin, in the car. And would get my yogurt and sit in the back having my little breakfast and drinking water.
Aaron would come over to get paper. We chatted about the fixing of the chicken enclosure. He had a plan. I encouraged him to get the kids involved. I hope he figured out a way to do that.
Two other people had mornings with no groups. Jamie would go help Aaron and Avery would come and hang at art and embroider. It was a nice morning.
My morning groups were great. Silver City was mainly really good but one girl was so anxious it was crazy. She kept saying that she couldn't do it, it being putting beads on string. It took me forever but I was able to get her to work with me and she finished her lizard. Everyone did.
I really enjoyed my girl groups. The second group needed way less help but they were good girls. They wanted to keep working though when their hour was up. So I told Mariana (it was her group) she could be in charge of the building and I would go to lunch.
Lunch was fine. I jokingly bullied the SSCs to give me extra tator tots. But they were all silly. I also had babies David this morning and let him sleep in my hammock for almost two hours. He isn't feeling well. I also would fix one of the other boys necklaces. I was happy to help.
After hanging out with specialty staff for a bit I would go and work on some bead lizards I was giving as gifts to some in of the new boy staff that has been so nice to me. They were playing bullying each other about how got lizards so I made them for all of them. They were impressed at how fast I did it.
While I was working on them though my day camp group came 25 minutes early! And I was just like. Take them somewhere else. He was real confused. I don't think he has a watch. They would go play Gaga. I finished my lizards and got a cup of ice from the lodge.
They would come back soon after I got back up there. And I was shocked to find that the group only had 4 kids!
They were great kids. We would be really shocked and worked on our lizards and I was able to sew because it was so chill. It was a really nice hour.
Once they left my little day camp 3s came. Sarah was with them and making lizards with them was a bit chaotic but Sarah and the YLP with her did a great job helping to make snakes ans lizards and not everyone made one but everyone left with something and it was little crazy at times but they cleaned up and soon were off.
My last group of the day was the younger stockade boys. It shocking how much shorter they are. But they were also good boys. They would sue all of my coins for pendants though. Oops. I will have to have them order me more. But we did that and some made bracelets. And I made Randle and Jeci learn to make bead lizards and it was fun to sit and talk with them. Merrill would join us to send it was a good time. Even if it was crazy got. Jeci would tell us how they would keep pet spiders when he grew up in the Philippines and they would fight them?? Wild.
They helped me clean up and put things away. And after I made myself a drink for the road with the last of my ice, I headed home.
There was no traffic. And I got home in a half hour. It was pretty great. My phone still isn't connecting my the car but I ordered a phone mount so that should be here soon.
When I got home I was shocked at how hot it was. Shockingly hot.
I brought my stuff inside and was very happy to see Sweetp. Crabcake was motoring around his enclosure. I would pretty quickly go outside to water all the plants and added water to the tortoise bowl. And would bring him outside for some warmth and sun. Sweetp would come out to buy it was crazy hot in the sun so I wss like. Dude stay in the shade. And he did but I did not want to be out there at all.
I would go and take a cool shower. I washed my hair and scrubbed away all the grossness I felt. And when I was done I would go hang out on the floor of the bedroom for almost an hour. Just staying cool. But eventually I would get dressed again. And got James's shorts they asked me to bring them. And headed out.
I drove to Wawa to get a sandwich. I asked James if they would like me to bring them dinner but the musuem bought them all pizza so they were good. I went and got my sandwich and was very excited about it.
I drove to the museum next. My plan was to find a parking space in the neighborhood and walk to the museum. And I was nervous but I would find a spot across from McDonald's on the street. It wasn't even a long walk.
I was really excited that my camp chair was in the back of the car when I thought I had forgotten it at home. I would grab that and a tote bag to carry my food and James's shorts and all my teddy bears to sew. And walked to the museum.
I was excited to see people. And also was excited to see all my friends. And to see how many cars we're waiting to go in.
I would go to the pedestrian entrance and joked that I had no weapons or drugs. And saw James walking across the parking lot. They were incredibly busy but I would get them for a moment. The museum is open until 9 so they had a busy busy evening.
I would help make a sign inside. But orettnsoo I moved outside to set up a spot.
I set up right in front of the dog statue. Stanley said I did a great job picking and I should have an excellent view.
The rain was coming in though. He offered to get me an umbrella and I'm so glad I took him up on that.
I ate half my sandwich while I waited for him to come back. And when he did he had two umbrellas. I would give the family next to me one of them and I'm so glad be came whe he did because the sky opened up. And everyone ran into the pavilion. But not me. I had the umbrella between my legs and was perfectly dry. I would just work on my sewing and enjoy watching the water.
It wouldn't rain for long. 20 minutes. And eventually people started coming back to their chairs. There is a lot of people here! Stanley says that the inside of the museum is also crazy packed. I hope that is making James happy.
It's almost 9 now. And James will come out soon ish and fireworks will start soon after that. And I am very excited to be down here. It's literally been years since I've seen 4th of July fireworks with my husband and I am very excited. I can already see some small ones in the distance.
I will post this after the fireworks. Tomorrow is the last day of the first session of camp! I hope it's not so hot. I love you all. Good night!!

Remember that TETOCU Roleswap AU I posted about yesterday. Well, I'm working on the next chapter on ACIT, but I've had pretty bad writers block. So this will help the writer's block down.
The 6 OCS from the Roleswap AU!
Eleanor White is the art teacher. She is generous, lovable, loyal, and a natural problem solver. She loves drawing. Sometimes Eleanor draws a picture and her daughter Rosalie adds color! Eleanor is such a kindly girl, even the jerks George and Harold think she's adorable! She is aroace, like my ACIT OC Hazel (remember her?).
Esther is Eleanor's oldest daughter. Esther knows the truth about what makes a real friend. She has zero tolerance for anything or anyone unkind or with ill intentions. She is very protective of her sisters and will stand up for them, even if it means getting violent. Sometimes, Esther struggles to keep his cool. To blow off steam, she reads books. Esther can sometimes be a bit shy, but it doesn't stop her from being a brilliant friend.
Mariana is trans, and the Middle Sister/Brother. She’s female presenting but has male genitalia. She loves tennis. She also has a soft side for cooking. When she was little, Mariana didn't know how to swim! Eleanor taught her how. Mariana's outgoing personality pairs perfectly with Esther's shy composure.
"Mikado Sannoji; awesome antagonist, amazing fangame, but I hate that guy as a person."
The youngest sister, Rosalie is so kind and sweet. The problem is, not everyone is as nice as her! As a result, she's sometimes accused of looking at the world through rose-colored lenses. Along with being a bit of a dirt, Rosalie has two left feet and can almost always be found tripping over something or falling flat on her face. She uses painting to show her emotion and feelings.
Rosalie loves anything creative and is very artsy. She played a certain visual novel once. Rosalie sometimes likes to make her friends laugh by doing a silly dance move with her trusty paintbrush.
School nurse. Clare is a college student, and not quite a teacher. She has heterochromia. She can commune with animals, both gaining information from them and using them as allies. Yes, animals include Pokémon ;) Clare is friends with Esther, Rosalie and Mariana. When asked about it, Clare says it wouldn't really matter anyway since she's not included in Eleanor's family. Her bow tie is expressive! Clare doesn't have a best friend. She likes all people equally. Yes, this includes George and Harold, the jerks no one likes. Every day, in a special notebook, Clare writes down one thing that has made her smile that day. This mostly includes adventures with the trio, but other things too.
Cy-Eleanor is Eleanor's future self, and Melvinborg's girlfriend. She and her boyfriend were involved in the same car accident. They swear that the age gap when dating is good for them! I took all of the traits that Eleanor had, and gave a contrasting trait to Cy-Eleanor. Generous? Try greedy. Loveable, loyal and a natural problem solver? Cy-Eleanor is cruel, conniving, and powerful. Aroace? Try a person who will do anything, no matter how depraved, to help her beloved cyborg, even if he doesn't want anything to do with her! She appears in season 2. And yes, the gray bits are meant to be her cyborg half.
#cu oc#tetocu roleswap au#Even if Melvinborg never admits he hates cy-eleanor it's a match made in horror#my ocs#gacha life 2

Mariana wears a corset? HELL YEAH, now we are talking Also if you have anything about them feel free to talk about, I just looked the tag and unless there's things missing there's little about it wich I think is a crime Be it slimeriana, insaneduo, philever, uh... Whoever you like
Mariana acting like she has been a vampire for centuries? YEAH, embrace the vampire vibes If you are going to live for centuries forced to never go out by the day you might as well enjoy the good part of it
I want you to be aware that I am a big vampire fan despite the fact that I will take every given chance to complain about the big plot hole of twilight that was made only for fanservice, vampires can't have children but sudenly they can?? and about how I can't simply find any good piece of media about them, can we get more not sexualized things about them?
Vampires are simply assexuals to me, I mean, they tecnically wouldn't be able to- I think is better to me to stop talking this will become a biology class
AND THANK YOU FANTASMINHA, I HOPE MY ART TASTED GOOD I also have no idea of what's this thing on the shirt I just like it AND YEAH, I WILL DRAW SLIMERIANA Perfect excuse to draw corsets hehe:) I think is funny at least to me that you have this vampire who just- has this whole gothic aesthetic, all emo and dark, and you have her criptid-but-somehow-human-kinda-nerd-vibes boyfriend
- Plate anon(<- don't let them start talking about twlight, will write an essay about the inconsistence of it and how it's not biologically possible to a vampire have children even if they are fictional creatures but as far as I know in twlight it's mentioned-)
VAMPIRE MARIANA MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME!! SHE IS SO SILLY AND DRESSES SO EMO!!
i have nothng about them atm BUT when i do you will see it :3c i have some drafts i think i can post.. errgh i will finish them one day i just need to brainrot more... i think i have to in order to add vampire!pac... like he's just akking to be added and who am i to deny him u-u

she's a bit crazy and her way of showing affection is a bit weird but I swear she's a 10
I tried to draw Aurora looking up and Cedric looking down but it didn't really worked. I tried to make her eyes enormously big and overwhelming on purpose - but in the end the final look looks quite normal to me. Feels like Aurora's staring into his soul (maybe she is). She literally has hearts in her eyes.
#i haven't drawn these two in so long#had this idea in my mind of her saying this to him for months and now that there's 3:00 am I got an energy boost and did it#now that it's*** i'm not rewriting that tag#cedric the sorcerer#aurora the apprentice#my art#sketchbook#sketch#fanart#sofia the first#sofia the fandom#stf#cedric the great#cedric the sensational#mariana's silly little arts

Europa: A Shallow Speculation on Theoretical Life
So I am in a mission design class this whole year, a very fun experience! We are honed in on Europa, which has led to me doing so much research specifically on Europa's surface and theorized subsurface ocean and its ability to house life.
I can make a million information posts about the process of life detection but I just want to make a silly overview of what I think life on Europa would look like if it were to exist! Just some fun speculative biology stuff, maybe with some art to come at a later date if I'm feeling inspired.
But, for today, I will just be setting some general rules!
All complex life would be aquatic or semi-aquatic at the very least, thanks to the four kilometers of ice separating the ocean from the EXTREMELY irradiated surface. I'm sure some rogue microorganisms could climb their way to the surface thanks to Europa's seismic activity, but the moon's surface is absolutely not suited to house life.
Europa's ocean is deep. When I say deep, I mean DEEP. It is estimated to be anywhere from 60 to 150 kilometers deep (40-100 miles). For context, Earth's Mariana Trench is just over 11 kilometers deep. That is just shy of 7 miles. I would be tempted to say that skin pigmentation would also be nonexistent, but radiation may lead to pigment being beneficial! I have found no sources about radiation levels within the ocean though, so this is something I am on the fence about. The pressure present at the bottom of the ocean also means that squishy anatomy would be preferred, at least at the ocean's floor!
Thanks to the 15 kilometer ice crust and a low amount of sunlight, eyes would serve little to no evolutionary purpose, at least for getting around (I will elaborate more later :D ). The primary sense Europa's critters would likely rely on is echolocation, which they would perceive as a "visual" environments kind of analogous to imaging sonar, see above! However, it would likely be much fuzzier of an image. Visual sonar is done through multiple scans over time, which would not be an efficient way to see your environment for an organism just trying to get around. They would just see vague shapes, which get more defined the closer they are. No color perception is allowed either, but it would be the best way to gather spatial information in a pitch black aquatic environment.
If reproduction is not asexual, I believe extreme sexual dimorphism would exist and also that sexual selection would primarily rely on sound. Perhaps some natural predators would learn to replicate the fuzzy appearance and mating call of its preferred prey as a way to lure in easy targets, or perhaps some species would even evolve primitive eyes and bioluminescence as a secondary sexual selection method, and as a way to weed out predators. They would not “see” the light, but rather sense it as a vibration. So, in essence, some animals may “hear”, more like feel, colors.
Now, about semi-aquatic Europan life!
I can imagine some ice-burrowing species emerging, as a sort of way to escape the chaos of an open ocean. They probably would not live too much higher than a few feet into the ice, however. They would likely have fatty bodies in order to effectively brave the cold, and thus would probably be scavengers or predators. I think the idea of some animals forming ant-like colonies within the ice surface is a fun one! Some predators adapted to traversing these burrows for easy prey would likely emerge from this as well. Unfortunately, a Europan ice ecosystem runs on the assumption that the ice which meets the ocean is the correct texture for animals to feasibly break through with the right evolutionary umph. The speculation is entertaining, though!
A lot of Europan life would probably be similar to fungi or algae on earth. This is because there is no feasible way to photosynthesize, but there are possible energy and mineral sources theorized to exist in the form of hydrothermal vents. Perhaps a colony would grow, with ‘roots' of some kind near a hydrothermal area, and “leaves” spread around to intake resources. Maybe carnivorous flora would exist in this way too! Algae type of organisms would likely just spread around hydrothermally active areas, and “photosynthesize” using the light produced by vents on the seafloor. Lots of small herbivores might feast on this algae, and become a food source for predators. A fun ecosystem!
Again, all of this speculation is just for fun :) It is not SUPER realistic, but as an enjoyer of speculative biology I like allowing my mind to wander while doing all my research for class. Perhaps I might start working on some phylogenetic trees in my free time. I may post some fun Europa science overviews and some of the graphics we are producing for our Huntsville presentation!
xoxo,
Zofia

i need to make art very soon whilst my brain is going, so many thoughts,, I will tag you when I do, I am loving your ideas!
YES ok so my Roier is. huge.
he’s got a fairly tall human half, but his spider-lower half in MASSIVE, Roier’s shed is probably the most terrifying thing ever. Cellbit starts worrying about him once he starts acting weird, only to come home to him, half peeled, with Jaiden as they’re trying to get him unstuck as quickly and carefully as possible
Leo is very spoiled, but also very smart, especially when it comes to sea life. I wanna make my Leo design very “I go to swim meets every weekend and stay up reading ocean life encyclopedias.” I’ve been tossing around ideas of hybrid Vegetta, I, again, don’t know much about him, but in a lot of things I’ve seen and read, he often gets referred to as a wizard or some type of magic user? I’m assuming that’s a reference to another server, but, hybrid wise, I’m thinking something really sleek (cat, fox, reptile) or something with a cool shape- like a lion! He does like his own space and is quite territorial, so I’ve been leaning towards that (and also that one clip of Foolish barking at Vegetta and Vegetta meowing back)
I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY ETOILES GOLDEN APPLE HEADCANON, he deserves more attention! I think it’d be funny if, when venturing with Pomme, she’s all walking in a straight path while he’s jumping around from high trees to the bushes and stuff, keeping a lookout for her (and any cool dungeons)
My BBH design is already very tall, so him trying to shield people from attacks or the sun or rain, or simply picking them up, sounds super funny. He would use his tail like those ropes that little kids hold to stay together in a line, that’s adorable aaaaa
the images you added are so cute! Its giving me so many ideas,,, Philza holding Chayanne and Tallulah but all you can see is their heads popping up from his feathers, Baghera covering Pomme and Dapper from the rain,,,
Forever has such puppy dog eyes, he’ll kneel down and tilt his ears down, maximum efficiency. Him wearing a cone of shame is amazing, full grown man can’t stop messing with his paper cuts lmaooo
Exploding slime! That actually works well with my “green with red tips” for Mike.... Slimes are so clingy! Slime and Mike totally just.. melt onto people sometimes, especially Slime, he does it on accident most of the time tho, Mike is more clean (can’t get goop in the machinery!) while Slime is more silly and relaxed, his inventory is literally hammerspace, he reaches behind himself and pulls out an entire sword, a handful of avocado toast, several flowers, etc
Mariana being one of the few humans is very interesting, especially when he’s paired with Slime, a goopy, gunky, clingy guy. I feel like he has something, maybe he’s cursed or his hybrid parts are very minimal, definitely something I wanna think about more...
I love having non-human headcanons for the qsmp members, especially for silly dumb reasons
I’m just saying, the image I just got of Roier trying to do a courtship dance for Cellbit and Cellbit not knowing wtf he’s doing bc they’re totally different animals is pretty funny
Or, I’ve had this idea for a while now, all the ones with wings gently tapping on the eggs or even each other as a sign of greeting.
Example: Bad goes to see Philza and they stand side by side and lightly touch their wings together, like a handshake almost! This could be done with tails too, that’s be cute,,,
Lmao Foolish’s love language being just straight up biting, Baghera and Quackity going into water yet somehow come out fully dry, AUGH THIS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEAAAAA
Or all the hybrids going up to people and softly head-butting them for attention, and then the eggs pick up on it and now they’ve started gently bumping into people to get their attention ahhh,,,, this is adorable,,,

my family clearly doesn't understand the gravity of the 18th and keeps giving me silly little tasks to complete even though i've got an important piece of fan art to finish :/ no i don't think we need more plums in this household, the shopping trip is unnecessary. what i think we need is for uri to get two business hours of uri-time so that she'll be able to draw the angel. what's not clicking
#personal babbling#i'm broke unemployed and my mood is in the mariana trench today#i just want some instant serotonin provided by the ability to click my silly little fan art to life

time to find some fakkin WORDS
Tagged by the fantastic @tracle0 thank you as always, hope you’re having a fantastic uhhh morning, I think, should be the time you read this (if you’re awake rn, go to bed. Go drink your silly sleepy tea and go to bed, or I’ll make a copy of TCD and make it so Andy is getting a hug every 3 paragraphs, and then force you to read it)
Anyways, gotta find beat, clasp, tremble and bloom
Beat
“I… I guess that’s true. I just… I worry.”
“Well, that’s what people who care about each other do. They worry about each other. It’s just that the things you’re worrying about for me are not realistic things. You don’t have to worry I’ll be killed by a Slicker or that I won’t be eating enough or that I’m going to go crazy from eating pollution. And the things that you could worry about happening to me are not things that you can help or prevent. Just like how I can’t prevent all the things that happen to you.”
“Well you prevented death by starvation and the possibility of going Marianas pretty well,” Tatum said, smiling and taking a small step closer.
“I mean more like keeping you from getting beat up,” Art said, rolling his eyes.
“You take care of me afterwards though. Feels like I get more out of this than you do,” Tatum said, raising an eyebrow.
Clasp
Imagine having the word “clasp” in your writing. That’s pretty cringe, trade
Tremble
Art damn near forgot to turn off the car in his haste to get inside the shelter, and he could feel his hands starting to tremble as he pulled open the glass door.
“Hello!” someone said cheerily as he walked in, making him jump. It was a woman, short and white, greying brown hair pulled back in a bun. “Are you a volunteer or are you looking to be admitted?”
“I--neither, I uh, I’m looking for someone actually. Uh, Seven? Seven…” It was only then that Art realized he didn’t even know their last name. “Seven, Seven, uh, white hair? Crutches?”
The woman suddenly looked a little uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry, we can’t give out any information on who stays here,” she said.
Art’s heart dropped, and he swallowed hard.
“Please, I just wanna know if they’re okay--”
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you anything,” she said. “It’s an issue of safety.”
Art huffed in frustration, rubbing his hands over his face. He fought the urge to snap at her, knowing she was just doing her job, and just gave a small nod in thanks before leaving the way he came.
Bloom
THAT is SPOILERS trade, how dare you
Now for the people I tag, Imma need you to find dawn, help, drag, and safe. Tagging: @baloobird @doctornineandthreequarters @polyacery @superherotiger
