Ooh I just spiraled with Mari and Mal and I love it!!

Okay so Mal loves how open and honest Mari is. She really admires her for wearing her heart on her sleeve and, even though Mal tries to warn her about being so open sometimes, it’s only because Mal is projecting her own insecurities and wishes she could be fearless in the same way that Mari is. I imagine Mal could be a good listening ear for Mari and huge support for her as she goes through the uncertainties of pregnancy.

They’re both so passionate and, while Mal isn’t as fiery as Mari, she’s hotheaded enough that I could see them getting into some brawls at 79’s together. Like someone says one wrong word about the clones? They murder them. I could also see them getting into a fight with each other over something small because they’re both ready to die on their hills. Fives and Rex have to separate them to stop them from yelling at each other but the next morning they call each other up sobbing and apologizing and swearing that they’re besties and they’ll never fight again. Rex and Fives are both relieved and annoyed 😂

It’s official, I want them to hang out ❤️

Mal and Mari are SO similar and I think they’d make wonderful friends. Fives and Mari were always very close and naturally she’d be super protective of whoever the poor girl is that Fives has chosen to date. That means Mari would’ve wanted to meet and screen her and make sure she could look out for her friend. But honestly ? She didn’t think that she’d love Mal so much.

They get as close as her and Fives are. Same explosive, silly, dramatic, hilarious antics she has with Fives. But her and Mal can also open up to each other in a way that she just can’t with Fives. Especially when it comes to how she feels about Rex. Because who better to understand how she might feel than someone else who is in the same situation as her? She’s SO glad she has another person she can talk to about the up’s and down’s of dating a clone.

And? Mari’s outer strength is a facade. Eventually Mal learns that too because Mari comes to her about all her deepest fears. Mari can tell her about all the things she just can’t tell Rex yet. Inside Mari is terrified that something she cares about so deeply, someone she loves so much, could up and leave her at any time. And she’s happy to have someone outside the relationship who can talk her through that fear without being worried she’ll scare them away.

Their friendship would be equal parts explosive and emotional and a bond like that would be for life. Especially with Mari. AHHHH I love this friendship so much already 🥺💙💙💙
