ok I finished grandia 2 last night and here are the highlights

giving Mareg 2 vitality ups, decoy, and the items that negate damage under a certain amount and watching random encounters do 0 damage (which makes a certain scene later on really weird)

Tio talking about the human soul and wondering if she has one. I find the soul mana egg and equip it on her and never take it off

oh we're fighting Melfice (uses spellbinding eye) wait that does damage? I want the achievement where only Ryudo does damage (restarts fight) (finds out the first fight is unwinnable anyway)

maybe it's a hard mode thing but the body of valmar was the hardest boss by far until I found out sleep works on the tentacles and then it got manageable

shoutout to the boss designs in general they're cool I love that body horror kinda stuff

(rematches the tongue of valmar and eye of valmar) ah fuck do I have to fight all the bosses again (it skips to the heart of valmar) oh ok :)

spellbinding eye spam on the final boss babeyyy!

RIP Mareg you were so cool and that fly should've done 0 damage to you :'(

Anyway I’m trying to play Grandia II but I keep stopping for screenshots and anyways I’m

so confused

because initially Ryudo talks like he just thinks melfice is a murderer, goes through a whole struggle of realizing he’s demons

then we get to Garlan and Gatta says some shit about when melfice ‘became possessed’ like anyone fucking knew about that

And now Ryudo’s said something about going where the Horns “are” sealed (??? is it a typo??) and also he and Mareg are talking about how they’ve got to stop him from getting the power he’s looking for on Garlan and like???

what? what power?? He’s been possessed by the horns this whole time, he has the idol? Like, what do you think he’s looking for?

(though, while I’ve been typing this out, I’ve realized that the logical thing for Melfice to be seeking would be... Millenia and all the demon components she’s collected... by luring them out there...)

(But I don’t think the story ever follows all the way through on that logic and I’m just confused what Mareg and Ryudo fucking think they’re talking about)
