Time for some kris-related trivia!
(Apologies for the long post. We'll put it under a cut so you don't have to keep scrolling on mobile. lol)
As someone who's always been sexually attracted to imagining fictional characters boning each other rather than actual people, we've always been tangentially aware of the idea behind thirst art. Even if we, personally, never saw the appeal.
It makes sense in theory; you like a character enough to maybe even want to bone them and thirst art can help you fantasize about it. (At least, that's what the vast majority of people seem to enjoy it for.)
But it was never something we could ever really understand even after mulling over it a lot over the years.
And then we discovered something known as aegosexuality, or, as sexuality.fandom broadly define it:
It is a subset of asexual defined as: a disconnect between oneself and a sexual target/object of arousal; may involve sexual fantasies or arousal in response to erotica or pornography, but lacks desire to be an actual participant in the sexual activities therein.
And it all kind of clicked. Because we most definitely have NEVER wanted to have sex with someone. Romance? Great! Cuddles and hugs and hand holding? Wonderful! Sex? Not Thank You. We'll stick with self-pleasure, you wanna date us and still have sex? You'd best be poly, too.
And then Marco the Phoenix came along.
Sure, we still don't want to have sex with him- even if he was real -but the fact still remains that we get it now. We finally understand the want/need for solo thirst art. And it's all thanks to Marco.
It's honestly pretty funny to think about. Because we turned thirty earlier this year and are only Just Now discovering The Character for us.
Our one true blorbo.
Marco the Phoenix.
And now we can safely say that, while we would most definitely prefer art and fic of Marco bottoming for Ace, we'll also take solo thirst art. Because that man DESERVES to be lusted over and pampered. Not just in canon but by the fandom.
Also, the man's just sexy af. Never been sexually attracted to guys, fictional or otherwise, but Marco?
Marco is special.
