Gambit #4
Best chapter.
"I must gamble with the life of the woman I loved"
Following a revelation, the problems faced by Gambit in the opening scenes here are pretty good. The elixir is not all that it is cracked up to be, and everybody in town is now out to get him. The action and confrontations are engaging. It all comes to a rather tame ending, however, with some very soap opera-esque storytelling choices. Can't say it wasn't enjoyable, though.

Moon Knight III #60
A failure in every respect.
Everyone returns to New York.
A terrible issue. It doesn't work as a fitting conclusion. It doesn't even make sense as a stand-alone comic. It opens with 2 of the ugliest splash pages I've ever seen, and a ridiculous moment of action/peril. Marlene's dialogue upon seeing Marc is clunky and unnatural. Later, Marc and Frenchie face one another. They are now unrecognisable as the same characters we followed for years, thanks to the stupid changes this writer has made. "Moon Knight has helped more people than you could ever know," says Frenchie. But it's not true. The Moon Knight of this run doesn't help people at all. He spends all this time dealing with his own crazy shit. Kavanagh is delusional. There's a huge disconnect between what he thinks he's writing and what he's actually writing. Marc Spector has become a walking disaster area, with a peculiar and vague supernatural backstory. In the end, the villain unleashes a computer virus and Marc responds to this by detonating a bomb and blowing himself. He seems like a moron.
I presume/hope Kavanagh's daft reboot of the character will be retconned/forgotten?
