Hi girl i love your work sm,
would you be able to do one with marc bernal and he’s really touchy with the reader and he’s just obsessed with her and has to be near her all the time
tysm xxx
For Lovers — Marc Bernal.
Pairing: Marc Bernal x Fem!Reader
Summary: Marc won’t leave you alone, you don’t really mind.
Word Count: 700+
Disclaimer/s — Just tooth-rotting fluff, uh. Freak yeah.
A/N: Thank you so much!!! I love you and I loved this request. BOOOOM SHAKALAKA. YES GAAAAWD. I’M SICK.
The night was going smoothly. You’d invited Marc over for a night in, something you two often liked to do. With him having to practice and travel, you would take whatever time with him you could get.
Lifting your head up and off his chest, you’re met with a disappointed groan. “What’s wrong now?”
“You’re moving. Why’re you moving?” He asked.
“You’re not bored?” Your tone was confused. All you guys were doing was watching movies. How was he not at all bored? “Let’s make some food?”
Food. Okay, he could eat. “Yeah, let’s do that.” And with that, he reluctantly releases his hold on you and moves to stand, his hands not wanting to be off you for long. When he helps you to your feet, his hand rests on the small of your back for whatever reason. This was your house; he didn’t necessarily need to guide you, well, anywhere.
Once you both enter your kitchen, you open your refrigerator and glance at whatever ingredients you spot first, hoping that the second you lay your eyes on something, a recommendation will pop into your mind. That’s what you always did.
Thankfully, it does! It’s simple, but it could work. “So! How does a quesadilla sound? Is that good?”
“Mhm,” Marc hums, his gaze trained on yours like he was following your every move. It makes you nervous. You know you should be used to it by now, although you don’t think you ever could be.
Taking out everything needed, you switch on the stove, your body turning to face him while you wait for it to heat up. “What’s next on our list? We could start a show and only watch it when we’re together. I have a bunch that we could start.”
The boy tilts his head. “Yeah? Tell me about them, then we can choose,” he says, leaning against the counter. Again with the eye contact. Oh… okay.
“Well—” you found yourself unable to even start under the intensity of his gaze, and you swallow. “Can you, uh, can you grab the cheese for me?”
He doesn’t answer you, but he follows through with your request. That’s when you start to speak. “Oh, wait! We can watch ‘Outer Banks’! Have you heard of it? About the treasure and all that?”
Yes, he has. You seem excited to talk about it, so he finds himself shaking his head no. Setting the cheese down next to the stove, he’s already by your side, his hand finding yours on the countertop, fingers drawing shapes. The first being a heart. Then, he flickers his gaze to yours, watching how you talk about how the show has been on your ‘must watch’ list for a year, you just never had the chance to go through with it.
“Marc? Are you even listening to me?” You laugh.
That’s when he blinks. How long have you been finished explaining? “Yeah. Yes. Let’s watch.”
“Perfect! Just give me, like, ten minutes. You can go sit down if you want. What drink would you want? Look in the fridge and let me know, ‘Kay?”
“I’ll wait. I can wait for you,” he shrugs. “Tell me more about the show. Or is that all you know?”
“That’s all I know. We can talk theories about it?”
The sound of his laugh is like music to your ears, tugging the corners of your lips into a soft smile. You don’t know why he’s laughing. “How can we talk theories if neither of us have watched it?”
Your eyebrows pull together at that, and suddenly you’re frowning. “Fine. Let’s talk predictions?”
“Let’s talk predictions. How about you start," Marc suggests. Of course, he’d want you to start. You just never really know why. Not that you were complaining or anything, though.
To him, it was just so he could hear your voice. Yes, he listened. He always listened. The fact that he could listen to you ramble on and on for probably hours and still be able to repeat and ask questions made you want to do nothing but tell him how deeply in love with him you were.
And he’d want nothing more than to do the same.
Likes, reblogs, and comments are always appreciated ^_^.

Hi, could you do prompt 147 with Marc Bernal
Jealousy and a Pout~Marc Bernal
*Pictures are from Pinterest*
enjoy this one <3
request from here
master list
players/drivers I write for
147-"I'm not jealous, it's just...you're mine"
y/n and Marc Bernal had arrived at a party of y/n's friend together, their hands intertwined as they entered the lively house.
The space was buzzing with energy, filled with laughter and upbeat music. y/n greeted her friends, and Marc, ever the observer, hung back slightly, taking in the scene.
As the night progressed, one of y/n's friends, Carlos, started getting a bit too close for Marc’s comfort. He hovered around her, his hand lingering a bit too long on her arm, and his smile was just a bit too suggestive.
Marc remained silent, his eyes following every move from a distance. The more Carlos leaned in, the tighter Marc’s grip became on his drink, but he said nothing.
The rest of the night went by in a blur for Marc. He was unusually quiet, his usual charm and conversation absent. When the party finally died down and it was time to go home, the drive was filled with an uncomfortable silence.
y/n could feel the tension radiating from Marc, his usual relaxed demeanor replaced by a heavy discontent.
When they entered the house, y/n turned to Marc, who was staring out the window, clearly lost in thought.
“Marc, what’s going on? You’ve been so distant tonight.” she asked, worried about his silent state
He sighed deeply, finally meeting her gaze. “It’s just... that guy, Carlos. He was too close, too... familiar with you. It bothered me.” he confessed
A soft, knowing smile spread across her face. She could tell that his mood was a mix of frustration and something else—perhaps even a touch of childish jealousy. She decided to tease him gently. “You know, you were awfully pouty tonight. Were you jealous?” she teased, a small mischievous smile on her face
Marc’s frown deepened, and he looked away, trying to hide his embarrassment. “I’m not jealous... It’s just... You’re mine.” he murmured
y/n couldn’t help but chuckle at his response. His tone was serious, but his pout was undeniably endearing. She reached out and took his hand, squeezing it reassuringly. “Marc, it’s okay. I’m here with you, and I’m not going anywhere.” she said
His shoulders relaxed slightly, and a small, grateful smile began to form on his lips. She led him to the living room, where the atmosphere was warm and comforting. They settled onto the couch, drawing him close, her fingers gently brushing his hair.
As they cuddled together, the night's tension melted away, replaced by the soothing comfort of each other’s presence. She kissed him softly, her lips lingering as she whispered, “See? Everything’s fine. We’re together.”
Marc’s frown finally turned into a genuine smile as he pressed his forehead to hers. “Yeah, you’re right. I guess I just needed to hear that.”
They spent the rest of the night wrapped in each other’s arms, sharing loving kisses and quiet conversations. The earlier tension had transformed into a tender, affectionate closeness, a reminder of how deeply they cared for each other.

hey girly please can you do one with marc bernal where he’s super clingy after his injury and he just wants to be babied, tysm xxx
Generous heart — Marc bernal.
Pairing: Marc Bernal x Fem!Reader
Summary: Your boyfriend had never been a clingy person, but it seems this injury had changed him more than you thought.
Word count: 560+
Disclaimer/s: Acl injury, pain, light angst to comfort. mostly fluff though !
A/N: When do the injuries end UGHHH. Come back soon diva
Marc’s parents had been allowing you to stay over for the night more and more. Ever since his injury, they had claimed he’d been more down than usual, but whenever you came around, suddenly his spirits were lifted and he felt.. well, the closest thing to normal someone could with the injuries he’d sustained.
While sitting up in his bed, Marc uncomfortably moved around. At some points he’d wince in pain, trying to disguise his discomfort by looking to the side. Each time you’d remind him that he needed to verbally tell you if something was hurting, rather than pretending it wasn’t there.
So, you’d convinced him to just lay down, which he did, but not without pulling you down with him. A soft laugh escaped your lips as he tugged on your arm.
“Lay down with me.” He huffs, looking up at you with a forced scowl.
“Chillax, i’m going to!” You grin, slowly inching yourself from a sitting position down to a lying one. The second you were flat against his bed, he pulled you closer, using his right arm to slip under your head.
Once he was satisfied with the position, your head resting on his shoulder, he bent his head down to place a kiss to the top of your head.
You smile at the gesture before unlocking your phone and opening TikTok, scrolling mindlessly through the videos as Marc watched with you.
Thats how most of your days and nights spent together went. He would have you cuddle with him and watch whatever you had on your phone. In fact, he’d prefer you nearly laying on top of him on your phone, than you giving him space and sitting beside him.
Marc was never this.. cuddly before. You weren’t complaining, though. Just to make that clear. You loved it, in fact. But, it was new, and each time you couldn’t help but smile the whole time. You liked this part of him, the one you hadn’t seen much until recently.
“Wait!” He suddenly says, making your eyes widen and shoot up to him, “I wasn’t done with that video, scroll up.”
Letting out a long breath, you huff. “Holy shit, you scared me!”
A guilty look passes across his face, “sorry..” He says sheepishly, “just scroll up, please?”
Nodding, you scroll back to the last video. “Let me know when I can continue.” You chuckle.
“Will do.” He hums, “hey, wait.”
Groaning, you pause the video. “Yes?” You meet his gaze once again and you’re met with a smug smirk. Great.
“A kiss would do.”
Oh this little…
Rolling your eyes, you tilt your head back to grant him access to your lips. He takes the chance, using his free hand to place his thumb and index finger on your chin, tilting your head up a little further. You don’t think you’d ever get used to his kisses, they were always so gentle and meaningful and perfect…
Sighing into the kiss, your eyes flutter shut. “Anything else you need? You big baby.” You murmur against his lips, feeling the smile that forms on his.
“I am a little hungry..” He pulls away, cocking his head to the side. “Takeout?”
“Or we could get off our asses and go make some real food.” You suggest, but exit TikTok to open google. “What do you want?”
likes , comments , and reblog’s are all appreciated. lmk if you’d like to be tagged in any future marc related posts.

Hi I have seen your stories and loved them so much I wanted to ask if you could write for Marc Bernal .When his girlfriend participates in the Paris Olympics in surfing or boxing
WAVES OF VICTORY - MARC BERNAL
Winning gold with Marc being there to support you
Marc Bernal x olympian! reader
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿
The sun was barely peeking over the horizon, casting a golden hue across the sky as I stood on the shoreline of Teahupo'o, the venue for the surfing event in the Paris Olympics.
The air buzzed with anticipation, the rhythmic sound of the waves a soothing backdrop to the murmurs of the crowd.
Today was the day I had dreamed of for years – the final round of the women’s surfing competition.
I glanced over at the competitors’ area, where Caroline Marks was prepping her board. She was a fierce competitor, no doubt, but I wasn’t about to let that intimidate me.
My focus was razor-sharp, honed by years of practice, dedication, and a love for the ocean that ran deeper than any fear.
As I took a deep breath, centering myself, I felt a familiar presence beside me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, his chin resting on my shoulder.
“You’ve got this, babe,” he whispered, his voice filled with unwavering confidence. “You’re going to crush it out there.”
I turned slightly to look into his eyes, finding comfort in their warmth. “I’m so nervous,” I admitted, letting out a shaky breath.
He smiled, pressing a kiss to my temple. “Nervous? You? Come on, you’re the best out there. I’ve seen you take on waves that would send most people running. You’ve worked so hard for this moment. Trust yourself.”
I leaned into him, feeling the steady beat of his heart against my back. “You always know what to say.”
“That’s my job, isn’t it?” he teased, pulling back slightly so I could see the grin on his face. “Plus, it’s not every day my girlfriend competes in the Olympics. I get bragging rights for life.”
I chuckled, feeling some of the tension ease away. “No pressure, right?”
“None at all,” he said with a wink. “Just go out there and do what you do best. Ride those waves like they were made for you.”
The announcer’s voice boomed over the speakers, calling the competitors to the water.
My heart skipped a beat as the finality of it all set in. This was it. I was one heat away from Olympic glory.
I reached up, cupping his cheek. “Thank you. For being here. For everything.”
He leaned into my touch, his eyes softening. “Always. Now go show the world what you’re made of.”
With one last squeeze of his hand, I grabbed my board and headed towards the water, feeling the familiar rush of adrenaline course through my veins.
The waves were perfect – tall, powerful, and just challenging enough to push me to my limits. I paddled out, the cool ocean spray kissing my face as I moved into position.
Caroline was already out there, her focus as intense as ever. But I wasn’t worried about her. I was in my element, the ocean beneath me, the sky above, and everything else fading into the background.
The first set rolled in, and Caroline took off, carving through the wave with the precision and grace that had earned her a spot in the final. But I wasn’t about to let her have all the glory.
The next wave was mine, and I paddled hard, feeling the surge of power as I caught it just right.
Everything else disappeared as I rode the wave, my body moving instinctively, every muscle working in perfect harmony.
The cheers from the crowd were distant, almost muted, as I focused on the wave, the board, the ocean. It was just me and the water, dancing together in a moment of pure, unadulterated joy.
I landed my final maneuver with a flourish, the wave carrying me back to shore where the noise of the crowd rushed back in.
I could hear the announcer’s excited voice, the roar of the spectators, but all I cared about was finding him.
I spotted him immediately, running towards me with a look of pure exhilaration on his face. He was shouting something, but the words were lost in the cacophony of the moment.
I dropped my board and ran into his arms, the reality of what I’d just accomplished starting to sink in.
“You did it! You won!” he shouted, lifting me off the ground and spinning me around.
“I won?” I gasped, barely believing it myself.
“You freaking won!” He set me down, his hands on my shoulders as he looked at me with a mix of awe and pride. “You’re an Olympic champion, babe.”
The realization hit me like a wave, and I felt tears prickling at the corners of my eyes. “I did it… I really did it…”
He pulled me close, kissing me hard on the lips before pressing his forehead to mine. “I’m so damn proud of you. You were incredible out there.”
The official scores flashed on the screen, confirming it – I’d won the gold medal. The scoreboard confirmed it, my name shining at the top, with Caroline Marks in second place and Johanne Defay taking bronze. It was surreal.
The realization washed over me, but before I could fully bask in the moment, I turned my attention to where Caroline and Johanne were standing, both of them smiling despite not winning gold. I walked over, leaving him behind for a moment, and extended my hand to Caroline.
“You were incredible out there,” I said sincerely. “Congratulations on second place. You pushed me to my limits, and I have so much respect for you.”
Caroline smiled, shaking my hand firmly. “Thanks. You were amazing too. That last wave… wow. You deserve this.”
I then turned to Johanne, who had claimed the bronze earlier in the day.
“And Johanne, congratulations on your bronze medal. You’re an inspiration, especially here in France.”
Johanne beamed, her pride shining through. “Thank you. It’s been an incredible day. I’m so happy we all made it to the podium together.”
The three of us stood there for a moment, basking in the collective accomplishment. We had all worked so hard to get to this point, and now we were sharing the ultimate reward.
The three of us stood there for a moment, basking in the collective accomplishment.
We had all worked so hard to get to this point, and now we were sharing the ultimate reward.
As we made our way to the podium, I caught his eye in the crowd, his gaze locked on mine with a look of pure love and pride. He mouthed, “I love you,” and I felt a surge of warmth spread through me.
On the podium, with the gold medal draped around my neck and the national anthem playing, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Gratitude for the journey, for the people who supported me, and for the incredible athletes standing beside me.
Caroline stood to my right, and Johanne to my left. We all held hands as the flags were raised, united in this moment of triumph, not just for ourselves, but for the sport we loved.
As the anthem came to an end, I looked at Caroline and Johanne and said, “Here’s to many more waves, many more competitions, and many more victories. It’s an honor to stand here with you both.”
They nodded, smiles wide as we held our medals high, the crowd erupting into applause.
Stepping down from the podium, Marc was there waiting for me. He wrapped me in his arms, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
“You’re incredible, you know that?” he said softly.
“Only because I have you by my side,” I replied, smiling up at him.

Hii! Could I request something for Marc Bernal? Like, yk, I'm a book girl, and maybe just him laying with her while she reads for him?
Hii!! Thank you so much for the request. I see so little people write for Marc.
Marc Bernal x reader
Warnings: none
Type: fluff <3
summary: after marc's injury you noticed how clingy he got, to the point where he asked you to read to him
QUIET MOMENTS
After his ACL injury, Marc had been more clingy than usual. You didn’t mind it; if anything, it made you feel even closer to him. Right now, you were at his place, lying in his bed. His head rested on your chest as you absentmindedly traced patterns along his back with your fingers, completely absorbed in the quiet moment. A book sat open in your other hand, and while Marc had never been much of a reader, he knew how much you loved it. Reading was your escape, your comfort. You always carried a book wherever you went—whether it was school, the beach, or just lounging around at home. Marc respected that, even if reading wasn't his thing.
The soft sound of pages turning filled the room until Marc shifted slightly, breaking the silence. “Can you maybe read out loud?” he asked, his voice low, almost hesitant.
You glanced down at him, surprised but smiling. “You want me to read to you?"
Marc nodded, his eyes closed as he relaxed against you. “Yeah... I just want to hear your voice.”
The warmth of his request caught you off guard. You weren't used to reading out loud, especially to someone like Marc, who was typically more into sports or video games than novels. But the vulnerability in his voice melted you a little, and you found yourself turning back to the page.
You cleared your throat softly, adjusting your position slightly to get comfortable. “Alright... but don’t complain if you get bored,” you teased, running your fingers gently through his hair.
Marc chuckled softly, nuzzling closer. “I won’t. Promise.”
With that, you began to read, your voice soft but steady as the words filled the room. You could feel Marc’s breathing slow as he listened, fully content to be wrapped up in your voice, in this moment with you. His hand rested lightly on your side, fingers occasionally brushing your skin, and you wondered if maybe this was more for him than just listening to the story. Maybe it was about the comfort, the closeness, the reassurance that despite everything, you were here with him.
As you continued reading, the thought lingered in the back of your mind: how much Marc must be struggling with his injury, how it had shaken the core of his world. His identity had always been tied to his athleticism, and now he was stuck on the sidelines, uncertain about his future. You could see the way it weighed on him, even when he tried to hide it.
After a few minutes, his voice interrupted again, softer this time. “Thanks... for being here.”
You paused, looking down at him, feeling the weight of his gratitude. “You don’t have to thank me, Marc. I’m always here.”
He didn’t say anything else, but his hand squeezed yours gently, and for a while, the two of you just lay there in the quiet. Reading, breathing, being.

Panoramic House, Barcelona
Panoramic House, Barcelona Architecture, Catalan Luxury Villa, Spanish Modern Real Estate Images
Panoramic House near Barcelona
25 Jan 2021
Panoramic House
Design: ON-A Architecture studio
Locaton: Barcelona, Spain
The ON-A Architecture studio, an expert in residential architecture with over 15 years of experience, has just finished this unique single-family Panoramic House near Barcelona.
Fully oriented to the landscape, the house takes advantage of the length of the plot to locate all the dependencies oriented to the best views. On the ground floor, there is the independent kitchen and a dining room area, connecting with a large outdoor terrace where an infinity pool has been installed. On the first floor, there is a study with a terrace, two bedrooms and the main suite with an independent terrace. The house is surrounded by a perimeter garden and has independent access to the car park and entrance hall with an open staircase protected by a vertical lattice.
ON-A works not only with the architecture but with the emotion. For this reason, the orientation of this house gives a great role to the landscape, turning it into one more architectural element and creating a scenic effect. Panoramic House is a unique project that has been specifically designed for the family that inhabits it, in which the studio has applied an intelligent and sustainable construction system, and in which ad hoc materials have been used for this environment.
Panoramic House is a new construction project of a detached single-family home located in a coastal town near Barcelona, Spain. An isolated building is projected, consisting of a ground floor, a first floor and a basement. Due to the topographic inclination, it was decided to position the volume in the highest part of the terrain. The constructed area is 390sqm. The surface of the plot is covered with low vegetation, with some shrubs scattered around the perimeter of the plot.
The daytime living area is located on the ground floor, as a place to interact, relax and enjoy the free space of the terrace, pool and garden. The first floor is used as a rest and study area. The small basement is the place to protect vehicles and housing facilities.
The exterior space has been designed as an extension of the interior. A wooden platform overlooks a large swimming pool and the access area and spaces between the platform and the boundaries of the plot are covered with grass.
The vertical communication of the house consists on a one-way staircase that connects the basement, the ground floor and the first floor. Extra space has been provided for an elevator if it is needed in the future.
On the roof, the elements necessary for telecommunications installations and chimneys are placed, as well as solar collectors for the production of sanitary hot water.
All rooms have natural ventilation and lighting, guaranteeing the sunny side of the house.
The overhang has almost 5 meters from the upper floor and it had been made with a post-tensioned structure that is commonly used in bridges, creating an outdoor living-dining room space to enjoy all year. On the façade, the use of large prefabricated GRC pieces and angular geometries create a “technological look” that contrasts with the warm natural wood.
The user accesses the house from the street level, where there is a hall with a storage closet and an adapted sink. In front of the access door is the kitchen, a large space with a work area, food and laundry, which is related to the outside through the large window.
Turning to the right, there’s the access to the main space of the house: a large living room, with dining room and study-library area. All the space opens onto a large area with a porch and the outdoor pool.
The first floor can be considered an “isolated” world destined to rest. In one of the extremes, a broad study emerges. From the corridor, there is access to a single bedroom, a common bathroom, a double bedroom and the suite that has a large dressing room, bedroom, full bathroom and access to the terrace.
The Basement is mainly used for vehicles and storage. There is a garage for two vehicles, the facilities room, a storage room and a small wine cellar.
Concerning the construction system, a concrete structure is proposed that models the house from the foundations to the roof. To ensure adequate comfort, the house is fully waterproofed and insulated, covering the entire envelope with a ceramic skin.

New York Films Head to Park City for Sundance Film Festival
Nineteen films and two pilots that participated in the New York State Film Tax Credit Program will be screened next month at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Since 1985, hundreds of films launched at Sundance—one of the world’s largest film festivals—have gained critical recognition, received commercial distribution and reached global audiences eager for fresh perspectives and new voices. Films that shoot or do post-production work in New York have traditionally been well-represented at Sundance, set for Jan. 18-28 in Park City, Utah. In addition to their Sundance recognition, this year’s crop of New York films also had an impressive economic impact while they were in production and post production, spending an estimated $38 million in New York and creating an estimated 2,448 hires.
New York’s incentive program, designed to strengthen the state’s film production and post-production industries, is one of the main reasons filmmakers choose to film here. Houston King, producer of Hearts Beat Loud, which will premiere at Sundance, offered an example. "From the inception of Hearts Beat Loud, we wanted to highlight one of our favorite NYC neighborhoods - Red Hook, Brooklyn. Without New York State’s incentive we very likely would have been forced to shoot the film in another state and changed the location of our story,” King said. “The incentive was key to giving our investors comfort that shooting in NYC was the right thing for their investment and the film."

Tour de France: Daryl Impey wins ninth stage, Julian Alaphilippe still leads
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/tour-de-france-daryl-impey-wins-ninth-stage-julian-alaphilippe-still-leads/
Tour de France: Daryl Impey wins ninth stage, Julian Alaphilippe still leads
Daryl Impey is the first South African to win a stage of the Tour de France since 2007
South Africa’s Daryl Impey won stage nine of the Tour de France as Julian Alaphilippe retained his overall lead.
Impey, 34, beat Tiesj Benoot to secure his first victory in the race on the run from Saint-Etienne to Brioude.
British defending champion Geraint Thomas, who lost ground on Saturday after a crash, remains in fifth – one minute 12 seconds behind Alaphilippe.
Three-time Vuelta a Espana stage winner Alessandro de Marchi was taken to hospital after a heavy crash early on.
The 33-year-old’s CCC team said the Italian was fully conscious after the crash but had a “deep facial laceration” and was taken to hospital for X-rays.
More cycling: Van Vleuten wins Giro Rosa again
‘All the stars lined up’ for Impey
Impey was a deserving winner after forming part of a 15-man breakaway which finished over 16 minutes clear of the main peloton.
He is the first South African to win an individual stage at the Tour since Robert Hunter’s triumph in Montpellier in 2007.
The Mitchelton-Scott rider displayed all of his race craft in the defining move of the day, feigning fatigue on the final climb on the Cote de Saint-Just before powering past Benoot and Ireland’s Nicholas Roche.
After Roche was detached about eight kilometres from the finish, Impey beat Belgian rider Benoot in a sprint finish.
“I have been in quite a few breakaways and to finally nail it is a dream come true,” Impey told ITV 4. “All the stars lined up.
“I kind of found a lucky move and didn’t have to do too much to get in there. I played it smart at the end and knew I had to reach Tiesj and was glad I got there.
“The last time a South African won a stage was in 2007 so it’s been a long time between drinks but it’s a magic memory.”
All the main general classification hopefuls arrived in Brioude together after a late attack from Romain Bardet and Richie Porte was comfortably closed down by Thomas and Team Ineos.
Stage 10 takes the race from Saint-Flour to Albi. In his BBC Sport Tour de France stage-by-stage guide, Mitchelton-Scott’s Adam Yates backs Italian sprinter Elia Viviani to win the 217.5km leg.

MEETING HIS FAMILY

MASTERLIST
<><><><><><>
You smoothed your shirt nervously, glancing at your reflection one last time in the car mirror. Marc reached over, gently taking your hand and giving it a comforting squeeze. “Relax,” he said, smiling as he looked at you. “They’re going to love you.”
“I just…” you began, laughing nervously. “I want them to like me, you know? This feels like a big deal.”
Marc chuckled, brushing a stray hair from your face. “They already like you, trust me. All I do is talk about you,” he admitted, cheeks going a little pink.
The moment you stepped through the door of his parents’ home, the warmth of the place put you at ease. His family had decorated for fall, and the cozy scent of cinnamon and apples filled the air. Almost immediately, his mom appeared, a big smile lighting up her face as she hurried over to greet you.
“Oh, you’re even lovelier than Marc said!” she exclaimed, pulling you into a tight hug before you could say a word. You laughed, feeling your nerves start to melt away.
Marc watched with a smile, nudging you gently as his mom stepped back, beaming. “See? I told you.”
Marc’s dad stepped forward next, offering a warm handshake, his eyes kind and twinkling. “Welcome. We’re glad to finally meet you. Marc’s kept you all to himself for too long,” he teased, giving his son a playful nudge.
Marc rolled his eyes, though you could see the fondness in his gaze as he looked around the room. You could tell right away how close he was to his family, and it made you feel even more honored to be there with him.
They led you to the dining room, where his mom had laid out an impressive spread of food, each dish more delicious-looking than the last. As you sat down, his mom leaned over to you, her voice lowering conspiratorially. “Marc told us you love pasta, so I made my special lasagna.”
Your eyes widened as you looked over at Marc, who only grinned. “Did you really tell her that?”
“Of course I did,” he replied, nudging your knee under the table. “Had to make sure you’d feel right at home.”
Throughout the meal, his family asked questions, wanting to know all about you and how the two of you met. They told stories about Marc’s childhood, too, and you loved seeing him laugh as his sister revealed every embarrassing detail.
“You should’ve seen him,” she said, grinning as she recounted how Marc had once accidentally set off the sprinkler system at school. “He swears it was a ‘science experiment gone wrong.’”
Marc groaned, covering his face as you laughed, genuinely enjoying the warmth and closeness of the family around you. At one point, you felt his hand reach for yours under the table, his thumb tracing slow circles over your skin.
After dinner, his mom insisted on showing you around, pointing out family photos on the walls. There was one of Marc as a toddler, smiling proudly in a tiny jersey, and you couldn’t resist snapping a quick picture of it. He groaned, but you could see the shy smile on his face as you did.
Eventually, you found yourselves back in the cozy living room, the evening winding down as everyone gathered around with cups of tea and slices of pie. His mom sat beside you, reaching over to squeeze your hand.
“We can see how happy you make Marc,” she said, her tone warm and sincere. “That’s all we could ever want.”
You felt a warmth rise in your chest, a deep gratitude for the kindness his family had shown you. “Thank you for having me. I… it’s been such a lovely evening,” you replied softly, meeting Marc’s gaze with a smile.
As the night came to an end and you said your goodbyes, Marc wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you close. “See?” he murmured, kissing the top of your head. “Told you they’d love you.”
You looked up at him, feeling the warmth of his embrace and the gentle way he looked at you, and you couldn’t help but smile back, knowing you’d never forget this evening with him and his family.

Rest Day Review
As riders enjoy the sea breeze on their rest day some might be nervous if it blows tomorrow. It’s been a lively opening week to the race with the weather a dominant factor and despite both the Alps and the Pyrenees in the opening week there’s little to separate the main contenders.
It hadn’t rained for months, it hasn’t rained since but it poured down during the afternoon for the opening stage in Nice. Hosting the Tour felt like inviting friends round for a BBQ, a surefire way to make it rain. The roads turned slippery and many, perhaps most, riders crashed. The injuries varied but the weather that day, that afternoon even, has had a significant impact on the race.
It’s been a frantic week, yes there was a day when nobody attacked but that was down to a particular combination of circumstances. The Tour de France is a long term contest, apart from the Giro and Vuelta there’s nothing like it across all sports, an “easy day” without attacks is still 180km ridden at 43km/h.
There’s no leading sprinter yet. Wout van Aert has two stage wins but each sprint finish has had its own particularities, the riders falling like skittles on the opening day, Caleb Ewan’s pinball wizardry in Sisteron and van Aert getting the green light to sprint in Privas and then being in the front group in Lavaur. We’ve yet to get a a clear flat sprint. If he was on another team van Aert would probably be leading the green jersey contest but for now it’s a battle between Peter Sagan and Sam Bennett with room for Bryan Coquard and Matteo Trentin and the race is all the better for it. The upcoming week will be crucial as it’s a mix of sprint stages and mid-mountains.
The mountains competition has spiced up the race but it’s more pepper than chilli so far. Benoît Cosnefroy showing his punch on the shorter climbs looks to be keeping the jersey warm for others. Team mate Nans Peters could take over and Marc Hirschi could try another raid and collect it along the way, while David Gaudu was spotted sprinting for points yesterday. But whoever wins atop the Col de la Loze wins 40 points, more than Cosnefroy has harvested in more than a week.
As for the overall classification, so far the contest is being defined by the rulebook rather than the road. Time bonuses and time maluses, to coin a phrase, are shaping the race, Alaphilippe took the race lead only to lose it because he took a bottle too late in the stage while Primož Roglič leads overall by 21 seconds because he’s taken 21 seconds on Egan Bernal in time bonuses, they’ve not actually been separated through racing yet. But if Roglič can sprint, can he handle the marathon? The repeated efforts of responding to moves, jumping for time bonuses are going to sap him and there’s two weeks to go. The pre-race preview made one suggestion that he need “only” needed to follow Egan Bernal et al because he’s capable of pipping them to the finish line for time bonuses plus he’s likely to beat his rivals in the Stage 20 time trial. But it’s a risky strategy.
Jumbo-Visma have been content to let Julian Alaphilippe and Adam Yates lead the race to spare Roglič from the daily media round yet at times it often looks like they can’t stop themselves from riding on the front. Tactically in the mountain stages they’ve been racing like they’re leading the race, deploying their train. But they’re not asphyxiating the race, they even used up Tom Dumoulin as a helper on the Peyresourde and Roglič was left to fend for himself. We’ve seen it before, the Dutch team ran out of steam in the Tour de l’Ain and the Critérium du Dauphiné. Only, to borrow from Sartre who wrote “l’enfer, c’est les autres“, things are more hellish for Roglič now because he’s got a lot of other contenders to worry about. Last month he had to watch out for Buchmann and Pinot but they’ve gone because of crash injuries. In comes Tadej Pogačar, Egan Bernal, Romain Bardet, Guillaume Martin, Mikel Landa, Nairo Quintana, Miguel Angel Lopez, Rigoberto Uràn and maybe Richie Porte.
We’re beginning to see a hierarchy but only the outlines of one. Extrapolate from Peyresourde and Quintana, Martin and Bardet are in the company of Roglič, Pogačar and Bernal as the best; extrapolate from the Marie Blanque and they’re not. Which leaves Roglič as the race leader and so far the best but only just, his lead amplified by sprint for time bonuses rather than distancing his rivals, Pogačar and Bernal will both fancy their chances but for different reasons: Pogačar seems to be able to attack when he feels like it; Bernal because he’s being attacked but soaking up the blows while not ceding a metre despite a relatively weak team. Neither Jumbo-Visma nor Ineos can control the race so the door is wide open for others. Landa will fancy his chances after a comforting ride yesterday, Quintana’s there and is suited to the Alpine stages ahead while Uràn is front group material too
A quick Coronavirus paragraph, knowing next to nothing on epidemiology it’s been something to avoid but it’s the email FAQ of the last 10 days and this blog can add context from politics in France, and look at what the Tour’s rulebook says. This viral sword of Damocles hangs over teams with the “two strikes and out” policy but one risk being mitigated is that of a false positive, according to RMC Radio riders will be tested once and if positive they’ll be subject to two more tests, this is why the tests are being conducted from Sunday to Monday and then the announcement, if it hasn’t leaked tonight, comes out on Tuesday. There are many “will the race make it to Paris?” pieces fuelled by the rising case count in France but most seem to have missed the local context. The authorities in France are committed to supporting the Tour de France and several government ministers, including the Prime Minister Jean Castex during his visit to the race on Saturday, have poured political capital into ensuring the race both starts and finishes so it’s going to take something special to derail things (for the avoidance of doubt and because restating the obvious can help online: the Tour is important but not that important, they’re not going to sacrifice the population for this). There’s a political will to pull out whatever stops are needed and the authorities will more measures if necessary, for example banning spectators, testing the peloton more often and so on. The tone, from the Prime Minister down, is about trying to shepherd the Tour to Paris, rather than seeing it as a stubborn annoyance or a public health risk. Also the race’s rulebook says there have to be 21 stages to award the overall title for the Tour de France, all the talk about racing to take the lead just in case things grind to halt the next day is supposition. Now exceptional circumstances could see this waived or rewritten but as of today the text is black-and-white and Exhibit A in why teams should plan on reaching Paris.
Paris is still far away. Looking ahead to the coming days, we’ve got two likely sprint finishes, first on the Ile de Ré and then in Poitiers, a city which is surprisingly hilly. Thursday’s long stage a hard day with a lot of climbing metres and a surprising tough late climb, the Suc-au-May, and Friday is a mouthwatering mid-mountain stage volcanoes of the Auvergne with a lot of vertical gain and a selective summit finish. Saturday sees the race visit Lyon and then it’s the Grand Colombier on Sunday, the first giant summit finish of the Tour.
