Marat Assassiné is one of the most decisive pieces that dragged me in to the white rabbithole (in other -less dramatic- words into the art void). It’s a 1793 painting by Jacques-Louis David about the assassination of Marat, a radical revolutionary leader in France. He was stabbed to death while he was in his bathtub (he needed to spend a lot of time there because of a skin condition he had). . So the whole story captivated me. The characters, the Truth, the nonconformity of people when they hear what they don’t want to. The colors!!! The darkness and the light. Everything here was a calling for me to come to this underlaying world of art. . I think I was in high school, and I tried to paint Marat Assassiné. 🎨 Marat Assassiné es una de las piezas más decisivas que me arrastró hasta la madriguera del conejo blanco (en otras palabras, menoa dramáticas, en el vacío del arte). . Es una pintura de 1793 de Jacques-Louis David sobre el asesinato de Marat, un líder revolucionario radical en Francia. Fue apuñalado hasta la muerte mientras estaba en su bañera (necesitaba pasar mucho tiempo allí debido a una afección de la piel que tenía). . Y pues toda la historia me cautivó. Los personajes, la Verdad, la no conformidad de las personas cuando escuchan lo que no quieren. ¡¡¡Los colores!!! La oscuridad y la luz. Todo aquí fue un llamado para que viniera a este mundo subyacente del arte. .
