#funginktober 16 #Marasmiusoreades Sus sombreros son pequeños, de 2 a 6 cm de diámetro. Su forma evoluciona de globoso a campanulado y, por último, a plano con mamelón. Poco carnoso, liso e higrófano. La cutícula, no separable, es de color crema avellana, café con leche, con el centro más oscuro, especialmente en los ejemplares maduros. En estos también se puede aclararse su color en franjas radiales, sobre todo si están muy cargadas de agua. Su margen es liso que con el tiempo, al aplanarse el sombrero, se convierte en lobulado. A veces, con la humedad, parece estriado, pero realmente es la transparencia del sombrero que deja ver las láminas. En tiempo seco, el color del conjunto del sombrero se aclara sensiblemente. Las láminas son blanquecinas, cremas, más claras que el sombrero. Están separadas, son libres, gruesas, amplias y con numerosas lamélulas. Y su pie es largo, lleno, tenaz, cilíndrico, delgado y resistente a la torsión. Mide de 3 a 10 cm de longitud por 0,3 a 0,6 cm de diámetro. Tiene un ligero bulbo al que se le adhiere micelio con tierra. De color más oscuro que la láminas, muy parecido al del sombrero. Habitualmente es recto, pero como a menudo crecen ejemplares muy juntos, los pies se hacen algo curvos o sinuosos. Aparece en fructificaciones numerosas tanto en primavera como en otoño, en prados, praderas, jardines, céspedes, tras las primeras lluvias, formando los típicos "corros de brujas". La gran cantidad de nitratos que desprende su micelio hace que se puedan observar los corros e brujas aún cuando no estén las setas germinadas, ya que el color de la hierba es sensiblemente más oscuro. Además, este micelio se desplaza ampliando su radio, y dejando el espacio ocupado anteriormente con la hierba casi muerta debido a la gran concentración de nitratos, con lo que su color es más claro. Así pues, se observa un anillo oscuro con un interior más claro. Sin duda es una de las mejores setas para la cocina. Here There Be Fairies by ChicaD58 Didn't know it at the time, but this ring of mushrooms is called a Fairy Ring. These Fairy Ring Mushrooms were just off the trail and I had to wade through a fair amount of leaves and other things which made me worry about snakes and spiders - otherwise I might have taken time to try and get the full ring. My field guide to mushrooms says they are widely distributed in North America. The rings increase in size each year, as the mushroom's underground life support system grows outward, seeking nourishment. In the West, segments of some rings are 600 years old.
