In the canon of the creative, there is perhaps no more daring, no more contestable, no more foul a word as “done”; its utterance is avoided until the last possible moment, declared with near universal undecidedness, often under duress. Yet without the prerequisite of a finish, there can be no commencement. How a conclusion unfolds, or what appearance it makes when rendered is without significance; to know we must finish is to know we must start.
