wc fans will groan abt how the villains are all one-note and how we need more complex villains, but when we do get villains that are deeper than a puddle then the same people cant fathom why theyre considered villains

#mapleshade terrorizes a baby in her debut novel and murders ppl but shes grieving over her kids so its ok #and its actually bad writing that shes evil or vindictive at all and she should be like a guardian angel and stuff not evil #bc everyone knows villains do not grieve or have feelings #thistleclaw is a violent xenophobe who literally has his apprentice maim a child for no reason and abandons his son for being soft #and insults his dead wife and honestly isnt all that complex but he had one scene where he was nice to his wife #and villains cant be nice to their wives or its bad writing so that makes all of his evil moments tragic and sad and good actually #onestar was mean so he’s obviously a villain and its bad writing that he started off chill and became worse over time #echoed voice #this is mean but like. im sorry its all i can hear when thistleclaw stans insist on this
