Your legs idly swung to and fro, dangling from a thick tree branch swarmed with mosses of all shades between vibrant green and a swampy brown. Ellinia was one of your favorite places to wander when it came to searching for quests— the air was crisp and fresh, it was never overly sunny, and the area was constantly alive, bustling with people and wildlife. Even now, a little black fox curiously sneaked along a neighboring branch to observe you, and groups of songbirds recited their music from every nook of the town.

A small smile spread across your lips as you lifted your chin high, breathing in the forest scents around you. Ellinia wasn't a bad town to just relax in, either.

The familiarity of your own name soon drew you out of your state of serenity and obliviousness. Your eyes shot open and your head whipped every direction, wondering just who would be calling your name right now. A boy with disheveled black hair stood on a platform below you, grinning with his hands on his hips. He certain stuck out like a sore thumb with his other worldly clothes, which consisted of black jeans, a thin white button up that wouldn't protect him from a green slime, and a simple red tie. A your smile grew wider and toothy at the sight of him.

"Kinesis!" You said, pushing off your branch and landing heavily with a roll. He happily approached while you brushed leaves and moss fiber off your clothes.

"Jeez, it's been a minute," Kinesis said, whistling and stretching his arms out for an embrace. "You look much more at home here than in a short skirt at Shinsoo Academy, that's for sure."

You laughed and pressed your cheek against Kinesis's chest, wrapping your arms around his torso. "Yeah. That kind of sucked. What in Maple World brings you to this side of the universe?"

"Oh, you know, the usual. Vendetta against the black mage, using my powers for good, training to save the world," Kinesis replied, shrugging. You hummed and leaned back, your hands slowly pulling away, but lingering at his wrists. Your eyes stared doeishly up at Kinesis, which he sweetly smiled to.

It almost seemed impossible that he would be standing before you, within your own world. Your mind wandered to memories from months ago, from your time on Earth— a chance friendship after you had approached a mysterious boy playing chess against himself in a coffee shop. After teaching you the basics of the game and brutally demolishing you, he had shown you all the hottest spots in Seoul as your self-proclaimed guide. Hesitantly, you allowed him to become your adventure buddy through Seoul when he wasn't in school or "practicing chess with a friend", which you quickly discovered meant honing his telekinesis, from the way he helped to decimate motes.

You couldn't deny the certain fondness you had developed for Kinesis during your time together, which had made going back to your own world particularly heartbreaking. Now that he was here and now, standing in front of you, many other thoughts raced through your head.

"Well, hey," you said. "If you ever need somebody to show you the best spots to train, let me know. It's only right that I pay you back from last time!"

Kinesis thoughtfully tilted his head and put his knuckles to his chin while the faint glowing band around his wrist spun and pulsated a little quicker. "I'll be sure to hit you up, then. Listen, I'm running an errand for Grendel right now, I was wondering if you wanted to tag along? If you're not busy, anyway. I thought it would be nice to catch up and fight together like old times, y'know?"

You eagerly nodded, hummed in agreement and excitedly bounced closer to Kinesis, knocking him slightly off balance. He slyly smiled and held your shoulders briefly to keep you still.

"Good— I'm glad to have the company. Very glad," Kinesis said.

"Me too," you laughed, quickly brushing past Kinesis before realizing you didn't even know where to go. When you glanced back, Kinesis fumbled to unroll the aged map in his hands, already donning a puzzled expression. You quietly giggled to yourself before bounding back to his side, ready to ask if he needed help with directions. Kinesis affectionately patted your hair and leaned a bit closer, angling the map towards you, causing your heart quicken. While he described where he was meant to go, you enthusiastically pointed at specific points on the map, dragging your fingertip as you spoke.

When you looked up, Kinesis coolly stared into your eyes with a small, charming smile. You quickly looked away and declared it was time to get on the trail once you realized your cheeks probably darkened by a few shades. Kinesis chuckled to himself before catching up to your side.
