I had no idea what to expect with this formula going in. I live in the Pacific Northwest and spent a lot of time camping as a kid, so I know how thick and goopy tree sap can be. I assumed the texture of this serum may be similar to that. One may also believe this from the pictures that I shared. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a heavy texture. Instead it was probably a medium texture, which did an amazing job at hydrating my dry leaning skin immediately upon application. It did leave my skin feeling slightly tacky, but if you pair it with a good moisturizer, the sensation goes away.
This is a product that claims you will see a difference in your skin, 30 minutes after application. I did not see a huge difference at that time, but I did see instant hydration as soon as I applied this serum. I love that this is a fragrance free formula. The tree sap is meant to help with the appearance of pores and fine lines, plus it helps your skin barrier with all the hydration that this offers. As someone with dry leaning and overly sensitive skin, this was another product that easily won me over.

The Allure of Canadian Skincare
Canada's skincare industry has a unique appeal, largely due to the country's vast natural resources and commitment to environmental stewardship. Canadian skincare products are celebrated for their use of natural, oftentimes indigenous, ingredients that are known for their nourishing and healing properties. What sets them apart is a dedication to quality and conscious production, resulting in skincare lines that not only benefit your skin but the environment and local communities as well.
Natural Ingredients: The Core of Canadian Skincare
Canadian skincare products pride themselves on their use of natural, often organic, ingredients that are carefully sourced and extracted. Essential oils like lavender from the prairies, sea kelp from the Atlantic, and maple syrup from the forests are just a few examples of the unique, indigenous ingredients that Canadian skincare brands often infuse into their products.
These natural ingredients are known for their potent anti-aging, hydrating, and protective properties. They work in harmony with your skin's natural composition, promising results that are not only effective but also gentle and sustainable.
Sustainable Practices: A Green Approach
The vast, pristine landscapes of Canada inspire not only the ingredients in its skincare products but also a deep commitment to sustainability. Many Canadian brands have embraced eco-friendly manufacturing processes that minimize their environmental impact. From harnessing renewable energy to using biodegradable containers and supporting reforestation projects, Canadian skincare companies are at the forefront of the green beauty revolution.
Supporting Local Economy: A Win-Win Situation
By opting for Canadian-made skincare, you're not only regaling your skin with nature's goodness but also contributing to the country's economy. The support of local businesses helps create jobs, fosters economic growth, and furthers the development of the skincare industry, setting the stage for continued innovation and high-quality products.
The question for many enthusiasts isn't just how products work on their skin, but also the wider influence of their purchases. With Canadian-made skincare, the impact is tantamount to a vote for sustainable practices, transparent production processes, and support for local communities.
Popular Canadian Skincare Brands
Canada boasts a variety of skincare brands, each with its distinctive offerings. From luxurious serums to effective spot treatments, here are some of the most popular brands that have gained acclaim for their efficacy and ethical standards.

Elate Cosmetics' skin-food-grade serums and Consonant Skincare's award-winning DHE Mask are also highly sought after for their remarkable results.
Ingredients to Look For
The potency of Canadian skincare products is often attributed to the richness of their natural ingredients. These are a few to keep an eye out for:
Canadian-Grown Botanicals
Many Canadian skincare brands emphasize the use of plants and herbs that are native to the country. These local botanicals are celebrated for their resilience and ability to thrive in the harsh Canadian climate, qualities that are translated into powerful skincare benefits.
Quebec Maple Syrup
High in antioxidants, Quebec Maple Syrup helps to defend the skin against environmental stressors and signs of aging. It's a coveted ingredient in moisturizers and serums.
Prairie Borage
The calming and balancing properties of Prairie Borage make it a fantastic ingredient for those with sensitive or reactive skin. Look for Canadian serums and oils with this powerhouse plant.
Maritime Sea Kelp
The rich mineral content of Maritime Sea Kelp supports the skin's natural regeneration processes, making it a key ingredient in exfoliants and toners.
Natural Actives
Canadian skincare also champions natural active ingredients with proven benefits for skin health.
Hyaluronic Acid and Squalane
These moisturizing powerhouses are often sourced from sugarcane or olives, aligning with the clean beauty principles that are at the core of Canadian skincare.
Vitamin C
Derived from Canadian berries or fruit extracts, Vitamin C is celebrated for its brightening and antioxidant properties. It's a must-have in any skincare routine.
Blue Tansy
A natural anti-inflammatory, Blue Tansy is beneficial for calming and soothing irritated skin. Canadian brands use it in everything from cleansers to overnight treatments.
Sustainability in Skincare
'Going green' is a mantra that resonates deeply with Canadian skincare brands, and they've become trailblazers in creating efficient and environmentally-friendly beauty solutions.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
The emphasis on natural and sustainable extends to the packaging of Canadian skincare products. Many brands opt for recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable materials, ensuring that the impact of their products is minimal long after they've been used.
Ethical Sourcing and Production
Transparency is a key value in the Canadian skincare industry. Brands often highlight their ethical sourcing policies, ensuring that raw materials are obtained in a way that is fair to both the environment and the communities where they are harvested.
Supporting Green Initiatives
Beyond their own operations, many Canadian skincare brands actively support environmental causes. By purchasing products from these brands, consumers are indirectly contributing to efforts that protect Canada's natural beauty and resources.
Where to Find Canadian Skincare Products
From the bustling stalls of local markets to the expansive aisles of online portals, Canadian skincare products are now more accessible than ever.
Retailers
Specialized beauty retailers often carry a curated selection of Canadian skincare brands. Look for boutiques that focus on natural or local products, where knowledgeable staff can guide you to the best options for your skin's needs.
Online Stores
Several online platforms cater specifically to those seeking Canadian-made skincare. These sites offer the convenience of shopping from home and can be a great way to discover new brands and products.
Local Markets
Treat your skin to a day out at a local market where you can personally meet the artisans and makers behind your favorite skincare brands. Not only is this a great way to find unique products, but it also provides an opportunity to learn about the backstory and values of the brands you're supporting.
Reviews and Testimonials
The true mark of a product's value is often found in the words of those who have already tried it. Online reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations are invaluable resources for those looking to venture into Canadian skincare.
Customer Feedback
Look for customer reviews that highlight the efficacy, texture, and overall experience of using Canadian skincare products. Keep an eye out for mentions of visible improvements such as increased hydration, a clearer complexion, or reduced signs of aging.
Personal Experiences
The best recommendations often come from personal anecdotes. Whether it's a friend who swears by a certain serum or a beauty influencer who can't get enough of a local brand, personal experiences can offer insights that go beyond the product description.
In Conclusion
The benefits of Canadian-made skincare are clear. From the use of natural, indigenous ingredients to a resolute commitment to sustainability and local support, Canadian skincare products offer a holistic approach to beauty. For beauty enthusiasts, exploring this sector isn't just about adding a new cleanser or cream to their shelf – it's about engaging with a movement that values the health and vitality of both your skin and the environment.
With a growing number of brands and products to choose from, there's never been a better time to incorporate the richness of Canada's wilderness into your skincare routine.
