Not intentional at all but I just realised the sort-of parallel with his brother-- "Blind you are Morgoth Bauglir, and blind shall ever be, seeing only the dark"-- but for Manwë it is in a way inverted, only seeing the light.

I think I want to try painting Manwë as blind-- there is that quote about Manwë seeing more with Varda by his side (while she hears more with Manwë there), so physical sight theme is already there-- and of course there is "For Manwë was free from evil and could not comprehend it" -- he truly cannot understand or see evil in Melkor because he is free of it, i.e. often is blind to it.

Not some sort of nightmarish blindness, more like...shining white unseeing eyes, like the eyes of a perfectly shaped but colorless statue.
