Eerie modern yukata/kimono by Furifu, depicting blooming manjushage (better known as higanbana/red spider lily) and what is described as a cute tokage (lizard).
Higanbana are linked to death imagery, because of buddhist higan equinoctial week (where Buddhist services are held and people go clean tombs), and the fact people once believed they bloomed on Sanzu river's shores.
I like to believe the little lizard could actually be a luck bringing yamori (gecko) thwarting the dark undertones - unless we agree on a more ominous imori yokai ;)?

G Fantasy, May 2024 issue. S feeds Ciel a shorn white lily and bloody red rose.
Japanese lily
Color is also important when conveying meaning with the lily (yuri). For example, white lilies represent purity, orange lilies show revenge or hatred, and a red spider lily (manjushage) symbolizes a final goodbye.
While a red rose…
Currently, the symbolism of the rose color is universal: a white rose is spiritual love, red is passion, yellow is recognition and admiration; red and white roses combined in one bouquet mean harmonious love, and a blue rose is an achievement of the impossible.
Now, take the meanings of these flowers with you.

彼岸花[Higanbana] Lycoris radiata
Yesterday, I saw Higanbana blooming along the footpath between rice paddies along a country road. It was not just one or two. The footpath became a long red belt of about one hundred meters. But, it was not the number that surprised me.
Originally, it has been cultivated as a rescue plant and planted along the paths between rice paddies to protect the rice from rodents by its toxic properties, therefore, it is not so surprising to see the overwhelming number of red flowers staining the green fields and riverbeds. This is a special case, though, they say that there are five million of them in Kinchakuda in Saitama Prefecture, which is known as one of the best-known Higanbana spots. https://kinchakuda.com/ (ja)
It has a lot of aliases, 狐花[Kitsunebana](Flower of the fox), 死人花[Shibitobana](Flower of the dead person), 曼珠沙華[Manjushage|Manjushaka](Flower blooming in the heavenly realm), etc., but the standard name is 彼岸花 and is also commonly called that because its blooming period is around 彼岸[Higan](The equinoctial week). That in this autumn is from the 19th to the 25th of this month, in other words, the flowers would normally bloom about two weeks later. I have not checked other areas, so I do not yet know if this is localized or not, but I was surprised by the earliness of the blooming this time.
The one in the photo was one of the several pale colored ones that were blooming among the deep red ones. Other colors include white, cream, pink, yellow, etc. The anime 鬼の刃[Kimetsu no yaiba](Demon Slayer), which hit the market a few years ago, seems to have a setting of 青い彼岸花[Aoi higanbana](the blue spider lily), but it does not actually exist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon_Slayer:_Kimetsu_no_Yaiba
The deep red flower turns a dusky purple as it wilts, and withers away, leaving the stem and radial flower stalks like a skeleton. I find a decadent bewitchment in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWwlgD2GgWk

Red and White Spider Lillies
Location: Kinchakuda Manjushage Park, Saitama Prefecture, Japan Timestamp: 11:58 September 27th (Kinchakuda Manjushage Festival)
On this photo shoot, I was able to enjoy a sea of red spider lilies blanketing the park grounds beneath the tree canopy. Amidst this crimson display, a few white spider lilies gracefully emerge here and there, adding a touch of contrast.
While capturing a close-up shot, I took care not to touch the spider lilies as they are toxic and can cause skin irritation upon contact.
If you visit this park with children or pets, exercise extra caution to prevent any accidental ingestion or contact with any part of the plant.
Stay safe and enjoy the beauty of nature responsibly!

Huh, no, I hadn't up until now. Neat remix of Komachi's theme though, very cute! That particular era of Touhou remixes feels like you're bound to find something new every time you dig a little deeper.

Another name for Higanbana, "Manjushage”, means a flower blooming in the heavenly world in Sanskrit. It comes from the Buddhist scripture that red flowers fall from the sky as a sign of happy things happening. In Sanskrit, it is written as Manjushage. Another name for Higanbana's Manjushage is” Poisonous flower" because it is poisonous.

Hello!!! I've answered your ask about my OC lore and now I bestow the sword of loredumping upon you in return :D Obviously I'm interested in The New Age for The Zodiac Experiment (All the new designs!!! Ciara with wings and horns!!! 👀) but if you've got something else you'd like to loredump about instead, please do! Go wild :D
heyo!! I finally finished answering this ask!! took me a bit longer than I expected, but that's because I just liked rambling on and on about these guys.
I'm making a separate post for TZE: The New Age, which will hopefully come out by the end of this month! with that, here are three stories and my ocs!
The story that I wished I continued writing was called “The Lost Ones”, and it was a very indulgent self-insert story featuring me and my middle school friends in a fantasy world. The characters were the ‘champions’ of the gods, and were chosen to go on an adventure to a lost island and save the lost gods—hence the title. Each god correlated to an element: fire, earth, air, water, light, and shadow. I think the final climax is that they have to fight a huge dragon who is also secretly the seventh lost god: Thefi, god of the arcane.
This story is probably my most medieval fantasy-esque story, and it incorporates a lot of typical DND inspired archetypes and world building. I remember that a really specific piece of inspiration was a Greek mythology video game called Fenyx rising, which is where I got most of the weapon ideas from. I took specific items from this game to serve as the relics that the characters would find and use on the island.
When I started TZE, a lot of the world building made its way into TZE, such as the six major elements being fire, earth, air, water, light, and shadow, and the whole “champion of the gods” thing.
Unfortunately, my middle school friend group eventually broke up, so I stopped working on it after 15 chapters. However, I do have a picture of the character designs and I still remember the majority of the character details and plot points:
(Left to right: Little, Rainy, Krisis, Ghost, Celine, Moonie, Skye. All these names were taken from the names we went by online at the time.)
Krisis (aka me lmao) - Champion of the Fire goddess, Cyra. - I think I took a lot of inspiration from Katniss Everdeen for her character as her parents are dead, she has a younger sister to take care of, and she’s a nomadic hunter. - She has beef with Ghost because I think his parents (the king and queen) were friends with her parents but they didn’t do anything to help Krisis when her parents died. - Has a little sister, Skye. Also has a pet raven named Axis. I think the raven was magic. - She’s an archer and takes a ranged position in combat.
Little - Champion of the Earth god, Shulti. - Her nickname is meant to be a bit ironic, as she’s the tallest and strongest of the group. - She was a farmer before becoming a champion. - She serves as the tanker and used daggers at first but then progresses to an axe. She’s the front liner and takes a mainly defensive position in combat.
Rainy - Champion of the Water god, Arur. - I think the in lore reason for why they were named Rainy was that it was raining on the day they were born, which is a sign of luck in their culture, but I could be wrong. - Lived in the mountains and worked as a shepard. Had a pet arctic fox named Starlight. - Friends to enemies with Moonie. - They use a magic staff and eventually gains wrist bracers to enhance their magic skills.
Celine - Champion of the Wind goddess, Eilor. - Daughter of a governor, has a rivalry with Ghost. She’s a big bookworm, and is the most knowledgeable about the gods and about magic. - Despite this, she is unable to actually do any magic besides the most rudimentary: making potions. - She brews all kind of potions for both offensive and healing purposes. She fights by throwing her potions at the enemy and hoping they land.
Ghost - Champion of the Light goddess, Frira. - Son of the king and queen of the kingdom that I forgot to name. Has grown up privileged, but reluctant to play the part of the perfect oldest prince. - Former friends with Krisis. Current enemies with Celine. - Gains a set of mechanical wings that he eventually learns to fly with. After this, he’s nicknamed “birdie”, “bird boy”, or “little bird”. - Uses chakrams and tends to ambush his enemies. He earned the nickname Ghost by his speed and his ability to make himself unseen.
Moonie - Champion of the Shadow god, Krilt. - Grew up in the same village as Rainy but later became distant from them. - The most pessimistic and hateful towards the gods out of the group. Very nihilistic. - They get a cool skeleton horse named Bones in the middle of the story. - Uses a dagger tied to a rope as a weapon. They made it themselves. They’re the most aggressive out of the group, and take up an offensive position.
Skye - Krisis’s younger sister (based off my actual younger sister!) - She’s the group healer, and secretly followed her older sister to the island to stay with her. - Despite being a healer, she has a hot temper and is constantly yelling at the group for getting themselves injured. - I think she dies and/or sacrifices herself near the end of the story.
~
The story that I consider to be my first ever completed story was called “The Elementals”, and it also involved elemental powers, except this time, they’re superheroes. I wrote this one when I was in sixth grade I think. It’s basically like other TV show that involves teenagers trying to live a normal life but end up saddled with an object that gives them magical powers and so they become superheroes. I think Ninjago was the main inspiration behind this story.
In this story, markings manifest on certain individuals during life-threatening situations, granting them magical powers. These powers are often volatile, so superpower users would transfer these markings into objects, which would then become known as mirokis. Mirokis would hold the superpower, and make it easier to use. In combat, they would also transform into weapons. However, this meant that a superpower user could lose their powers if they lost their miroki, and villains could use the superpowers of stolen mirokis. Eleven year old neglected to mention if only one person at a time could hold a specific type of miroki—say, that only one person could hold the light miroki until they died, or if multiple light mirokis could exist.
This story was also incredibly badly formatted, as eleven year old me apparently had no sense of what a paragraph break was, so the entire story just looked like this:
Surprisingly, eleven year old me did a good job incorporating a lot of diverse characters into the story (even if their characterization was a bit subpar).
I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of the characters, but I did like writing really long descriptions about their hair color and eyes.
Main characters:
Zia: - Blonde hair, brown eyes, tanned skin. - Holder of the light miroki. Can create orbs of light, and turn herself and others invisible. - Optimistic and brutally honest. - She kinda just actually dies??? In the story??? And then gets revived with the power of love??? I think I know where all my fucked up ideas started from now. - Dating Noah. Younger sister of Major. - Superhero name: Luma. - Weapon: slingshot.
Lynn: - Blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pale skin. - Holder of the water miroki. Can manipulate liquid water. - Sweet and indecisive. - Her family is wealthy, and she uses her superhero alter ego to escape their expectations and be free. - Dating Adara. Older sister of Eviana. - Superhero name: Tsunami. - Weapon: Sword
Adara: - Black hair, black eyes, dark skin. - Holder of the fire miroki. Can manipulate fire. - Outgoing and temperamental. - I think the angle that eleven year old me was going for with this character was that she’s a very high energy person (I think she was ADHD coded but I don’t think I did a good job conveying that) who’s able to channel all her energy into protecting others as a superhero. This might have been lost, as I wasn’t the best writer at the time. - Dating Lynn. Older sister to Phoenix. - Superhero name: Wildfire. - Weapon: Spear
Ivy: - Brown hair, green eyes, tanned skin. - Holder of the earth miroki. Can manipulate plants and earth. - Flexible and tough. - She acts like a mean girl as a civilian but it’s a front; she was once partners with the story’s main villain, but was betrayed. Ever since then, she’s put up a front to protect herself from getting hurt again. - Dating Major. - Superhero name: Forest. - Weapon: Double bladed axes
Cameron: - Blonde hair, gray eyes, tanned skin. - Holder of the wind miroki. Can manipulate wind. - Comedic and paranoid. - I think this might have been the earliest iteration of Kai (TZE Ciara’s boyfriend), as both share the same anxious tendencies and generally twitchy behavior. - Dating Ciara. - Superhero name: Storm - Weapon: Fans
Ciara (no, not that Ciara!): - Black hair, dark eyes, pale skin. - Holder of the darkness miroki. Can travel through shadows. - Blunt and unfeeling. (LMAO edgelord) - Her parents died in an accident, which is how she got her shadow powers. - She had a bit of a corruption arc and became a villain for a bit, but was saved by the power of friendship. - Dating Cameron. - Superhero name: Eclipse - Weapon: Bow and arrow
Minor characters:
Noah: - Black hair, brown eyes, dark skin. - Just a normal guy with no miroki powers. He works as the group’s technician. - Dating Zia.
Wren: - Black hair, brown eyes, tanned skin. - Holder of the ice miroki. Can manipulate any form of frozen water. - Cool and calculating. - He’s a jerk as a superhero, but very kind as a civilian. He uses his superhero alter ego as a way to vent out the anger he normally can’t express as a civilian. - He’s aromantic! I’m surprised that eleven year old me was even aware of this term, but it was pretty nice to see that I put this into a story. Being aro was also apparently a big part of his character, as I wrote that him being aro was what made him feel isolated from the rest of his peers. - Has a twin sister named Robin, who becomes the eventual holder of the snow miroki, but this is very briefly touched on, and is only mentioned near the end. Also has a younger brother named Christian. - Superhero name: Frostbite - Weapon: Daggers
Major: - Blonde hair, brown eyes, tanned skin. - Former holder of the sound miroki. Can sense movement through feeling the vibrations of the earth. Can also emit loud, high-pitched sounds from his mouth. - He’s partially deaf, which I think came from using Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender as an inspiration. He uses his sound powers to amplify his hearing, though only for short periods at a time. - Dating Ivy. - Superhero name: Shockwave - Weapon: IDK, his mouth??? He's never shown fighting because he retired.
Eviana: - Blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin. - Future holder of the water miroki after Lynn retires to be a college student. Can manipulate liquid water. - Essentially a carbon copy of her older sister. - Younger sister of Lynn. - Superhero name: - Weapon: Sword
Phoenix: - Black hair, brown eyes, dark skin. - Future holder of the fire miroki after Adara retires to be a college student. Can manipulate fire. - Essentially a carbon copy of her older sister. - Younger sister of Adara. - Superhero name: Ember - Weapon: Spear
Villain:
Naomi: - Black hair, black eyes, pale skin. - Holder of the shapeshifting (I think?) miroki. Can changes her appearance at will, and can also change into various animals. - Her backstory is that her father was a villain, and she felt being a villain was the only way to receive validation. - Redeemed villain by the end of the story, though her redemption was written extremely poorly and with all the skill expected of an eleven year old. - Supervillain name: Hyena
I ended up incorporating a lot of elements from this story into TZE, the most noticeable being Ciara/Eclipse. I think it’s interesting that I originally had TZE Ciara and TZE Eclipse as one person, but later split them in two. This is especially fitting because there’s meant to be a lot of parallels between TZE Ciara and TZE Eclipse, and the celestial theme continues on with both of them.
Despite its poor writing, I hold this story pretty dear to my heart, as it was the first story I ever actually completed. I actually tried to write a reboot of it some time ago, which I’ll briefly talk about:
- In this new world, mirokis are government-made and sanctioned. There are actual schools made for students who want to become heroes (think My Hero Academia). - The government is also creating lab-grown humans with genetic superpowers. Why? No idea. I think they were supposed to be used as living weapons in times of war. - Mirokis now encompass all types of superpowers, not just elemental powers. The strongest heroes are known as "The Elementals", and are all granted state of the art technology, including giant robot mechas. There are 14 elements:
Fire - Phoenix Technology - Pixel Time - Rewind Earth - Jasper Life - Dryad Water - Nixie Ice - Frostbite Light - Luma Death - Lucifer Dark - Luna Space - Nibiru Air - Tempest Electricity - Indra Arcane - Salem
- The main character, Viper, is a lab-grown human with snake attributes. The story is about her escape from her lab and her joining with the villains of this story. - The supervillains are made up of Luma (defected), Nixie (defected, renamed to Wildfire), Phoenix (defected, renamed to Tsunami), Split (miroki of cloning), Achilles (miroki of metal), and Lepus (a lab-grown child with the attributes of a rabbit). Later, another lab grown human named Pia (short for Scorpia; yes, this name was taken from She-Ra) with scorpion attributes joins them. - There's also a trio of fox-themed vigilantes named Kumiho (miroki of hypnosis), Kitsune (miroki of shapeshifting), and Huli Jing (miroki of absorption [she can temporarily take and use other miroki users' powers]). - The story was supposed to delve into societal problems such as classism, nationalism, and corrupt governments. Then I lost motivation.
~
The story that I was consistently working on (until I got burnt out and stopped) is called “The Many Masks of Chau Huynh”, and it’s the story that I’ve put the most work in besides TZE. It also takes place in the same world as TZE.
The best way I can describe it is “crime found family”. In the world of TZE, an organization of assassins and spies known as Hunter Society operates in the shadows of the world. Those that join this prestigious society are called Hunters, and they're able to be hired out by anyone who has enough money.
The story's first part has the premise of a mob boss hiring four Hunters for a heist to steal art made by demons, with the philosophy that star spirits have wrongfully taken what doesn't belong to them. The catch here is that the mob boss is actually a genius thirteen year old, and who has basically conned four adults into becoming their new parental units.
This story has been giving me brainworms since June of last year, so it's the most developed in characterization, plot, and themes.
(Left to right: Matsurika, Seungyoon, Xiaofei, Chau, Zhihao, Manjushage, Yeonseok)
Characters:
Chau Huynh - 13 years old, they/them - Voice claim: Killua, Hunter X Hunter - The aforementioned genius mob boss. Was abandoned as an orphan and raised by a nomadic gang of demons known as the Ten Rings. There, they learned a myriad of fighting techniques that contributed to their rise in the criminal underworld. - Was originally born into a cult that was made up of angels (in TZE, angels are sentient robots and the antithesis to demons), but was discarded for being too weak. This is important later. - Has numerous alter egos, including a Hunter, a mob boss, and a fight ring participant. They plan out everything to the letter, and their numerous identities contribute to this. This is what the 'masks' in the title is referring to, as well as the term "masking" in relation to neurodivergent people. - They treat gender like playing dress up. Really has no concept of what gender is because they grew up in an environment where it wasn't important. - Alter ego #1: Mob boss named "The Celestial Sage", or "Jinzi Long". This alter ego has the most resources at her disposal and can hire hitmen, but rarely does any actual killing. Uses a specially made gun with light glyphs carved into it; this allows for the gun to produce bullets in a hidden chamber. This alter ego also exclusively uses she/her. - Alter ego #2: Hunter named "The Paper Star Hunter", or "Yin Feng". This alter ego does all of the actual killing on behalf of the Celestial Sage—who is in fact, just the same person. Uses origami paper stars with shadow glyphs written on it; this allows for the paper stars to be flexible and sharp at the same time. This alter ego also exclusively uses he/him. - (The reason why these two alter egos exist is because Chau just really likes circumventing authority and just fucking around with loopholes to cover up their tracks as much as possible.) - Alter ego #3: Fight ring participant named "The Child of Demons". They just like beating up people and getting money out of it. This is the form of themselves where they feel they can be the most free and authentic to themselves. They have fire/water/air/earth elemental tattoos on their arms, hands, and fingers. They use these tattoos to control four rope rings, which can grow into ropes that are controlled by their fingers. These are their favorite weapons. However, they also has specially made gear to prevent themselves from going overboard and using too much magical power. This alter ego uses whatever pronouns they feel like using at the time. - Their defining color is gold. - Very deprived of love. Very much needing a parental figure (or four).
Manjushage "Manju" Higashi - 27 years old, she/her - Voice claim: Maki, Jujutsu Kaisen - Hunter title: The Higanbana (Spider Lily) Hunter. Specializes solely in assassinations. Her philosophy is that when she kills, her victims should not suffer, and they should die painless deaths. - She does not discriminate between who she kills, because they're all the same to her. She also believes in separating her emotions from her killing, because they'll just get in the way. - Uses two swords in combat, and is the only one out of the group to use traditional weapons. These swords are modeled after the swords a samurai used: the tachi (long sword) and the tanto (short sword). This is symbolic of how Manju is the only one out of the group who truly recognizes the significance of taking a life. - Attended a prestigious military academy to become a soldier, but was kicked out because she was framed as responsible for a horrible accident. She is the only one out of the four adult Hunters to have elemental (electricity) powers that came from demonic tattoos instead of eating demon cores. - Her tachi sword is named Kusanagi, and was a gift from her teacher. This is the sword she mainly uses in combat. - Her tanto sword is a highly powerful sword named Shi No Hikari (literal translation: Death's Light). When she unsheathes this sword in a very specific way (by holding it over her eyes and unsheathing it), she gains the ability to see an opponent's every weakness, at the cost of entering a manic state and murdering every living thing she sees. - Her defining color is red. - Believes she only has a future as a living weapon and nothing else.
Matsurika "Matsu" Hirako - 25 years old, she/her - Voice claim: Shinobu, Demon Slayer - Hunter title: The Sokei (Jasmine) Hunter. Specializes in espionage and assassination. She starts out as the stereotypical femme fatale assassin who seduces her targets and poisons them, but I promise she gets more character development in the novel that I have yet to finish. - She only targets people that she believes are bad people, and she believes that she's doing the world a favor by getting rid of them. She's the only one of the group to hang onto some semblance of morality. She's extremely emotionally driven and is often very conflicted about her job. - She has heightened tolerance to most poisons, toxins, and venoms due to drinking a demon core potion. On a separate, completely unrelated note, she's also a functioning alcoholic. - She values her appearance the most out of the group because she considers it her most valuable weapon—in actuality, she despises her own face because she believes she looks too much like her mother. - She has a very complicated relationship with her mother. - She was born into a brothel as a bastard child and was forced to take over her mother's position when she got older. - Her defining color is green. - Wants very badly to be nothing like her mother but fears that she's only becoming more like her as her life goes on.
- Seungyoon "Seung" Kwon - 26 years old, he/him - Voice claim: Obanai, Demon Slayer - Hunter title: The Hunter of Delusion. Works as a hitman for anyone that will hire him. Known for being a whiny little bitch that doesn't listen to any of his employers, but obeys just enough that he gets paid. - Actually enjoys killing people and does it for the adrenaline thrill. The only person among the Hunters who actually likes his job wholeheartedly. - Ate the core of a mist demon, which cured his asthma but unfortunately did little else. It didn't even give him mist powers—he has to make his poison gases and mists himself. These aforementioned gases and mists cause delusions in his victims, instilling a sense of intense paranoia and fear. - He was a child genius, similar to Chau. He studied to become a doctor when he was young, but was discouraged by his mother (who was a nurse), because she believed that the two of them were too broken to be able to save anybody. - He also has a very complicated relationship with his mother. - He began to use his medical knowledge to harm others, because he believed it was easier to break people than trying to putting them back together. - Yeonseok is his life and death partner, and the only person he trusts with his whole heart. - His defining color is blue. - Scared of nothing. Legitimately scared of nothing.
Yeonseok "Yeon" Geum - 28 years old, he/him - Voice claim: Choso, Jujutsu Kaisen - Hunter title: The Hunter of Hallucination. Works as a hitman alongside Seung. Noticeably more obedient and compliant than his partner. - Doesn't enjoy killing people, but does it because he was trained as an assassin since he was young. He continues killing because he wants to return to his former glory as a prodigal assassin. - Ate the core of a smoke demon, which gives him the ability to create tangible objects out of smoke. He also has the ability to give his victims vivid hallucinations by breathing smoke directly into their mouth—Seung nicknamed this 'the kiss of death'. Unrelated to this is his chain-smoking addiction. - Similar to Manju, he was trained as a living weapon since he was young. He was born into a family of assassins and was his generation's eldest child. He was put under an immense amount of pressure to succeed. - He has the most experience and knowledge of assassination techniques besides Chau. - He might seem compliant on the surface, but he obeys nobody else but Seungyoon. - His defining color is orange. - Although he idolizes his past self, he fears that he will never be able to live up to that image of himself now that he has left his family.
Zhihao "Hao" Ying - 19 years old, she/her (MTF) - Voice claim: Maomao, Apothecary Diaries - Mob boss title: The Celestial Sage. Works as Chau's body double, and is trained in most of the same skills as Chau. - Almost robotic in her killings, like she views her victims as sub-human. - Has tattoos made from the blood of a light demon. This allows her to make constructs out of light. She is the one who designed Chau's gun. - Was first hired by Chau at the age of 17 to create forgeries for heists. - She's known Xiaofei since they were children. - She used to compete at the same fight ring that Chau currently does, which is how she and Xiaofei met Chau. - Her defining color is yellow.
Xiaofei "Xiao" Yang - 19 years old, he/him (FTM) - Voice claim: Xie Lian, Heaven Official's Blessing - Hunter title: The Paper Star Hunter. Works as Chau's body double, and is trained in most of the same skills as Chau. - Horribly scared of actually killing people and is the only outright coward of the whole group. - Has tattoos made from the blood of a shadow demon. This allows him to manipulate shadows. He is the one who makes Chau's paper weapons. - Was first hired by Chau at the age of 17 as a hacker and informant. - He's known Zhihao since they were children. - He used to work for Hunter Society as a manager, who would aid other Hunters and provide them with information about their targets. - His defining color is purple.
there's also three more main characters that make their appearance later, so I won't talk about them here.
and here's some moodboards that I made for them for fun:
there's a lot of symbolism with these guys that I've left out for the sake of not making this post abysmally long, but if compelled, I could talk about them more :DD
note from 10 pm tabs: wow. this took. this took a lot longer than I thought it would. forgive any mistakes made, I'm pretty tired. uh, thanks for sticking around for this long, if you're reading this. hope you enjoyed my incredibly indulgent ramblings about my ocs!!!

very sorry if this bothered you in any way but hello hello
i just need some help in getting out of an ongoing art block for several months.
if you're willing to share, what flowers do you consider most suitable for your favorite bsd characters?
there's no restrictions, up to personal preference. it can be based on flower symbolism, aesthetic, your own scenarios, or based on said character's backstory.
could you explain if it's a little complicated? so i can draw with a better guideline rather than going on pure imagination.
if i manage to post it, i'll be sure to give credit. if you're up to it.
anyway, if you liked this idea and you're comfortable with it, thank you so much. if you aren't, feel free to ignore this ask, no harm done.
have a nice day— or night? whenever you see this honestly. take care!
hi hello I'm sorry I just saw this 😭
I actually don't have many bsd characters I associate with particular flowers but I am obsessed with hanakotoba so here we go!!
Chuuya: You guessed it, camellia. It's not my fault he's always surrounded in camellias in official arts + the Japanese meaning of the flower, 'noble death' really suits him, given his personality. I also associate him with red daisies (I just feel like it) and freesia (flower language: trust and friendship!)
Dazai: Oh boy I'm about to get very annoying so bear with me. I associate Dazai with multiple flowers. First, sunflowers! I don't know if this is part of flower language but you know how sunflowers are always following the sun right? Constant inclination towards the light, just like current Dazai. Yes, he has his ups and downs, and yes, he's unsure of his own actions sometimes, but he'll never turn away from the light Odasaku pointed him towards. That's why I think sunflowers suit him. ADA Dazai is VERY dear to me.
I also associate him with daffodils for its flower meaning, rebirth and new beginnings. PM Dazai is sakura to me because of its contradictory meanings (life and death, beauty and violence).
Kunikida: Gladiolus! Because it means strength of character and moral integrity. Kunikida is also one of the few bsd characters with the strongest characteristics, in my opinion.
Kenji: Sunflower again, simply because it suits him (both flower language and aesthetic. I've seen so many art of Kenji with sunflowers and they make me so happy)
Atsushi and Kyouka: I associate both of them with daffodils, again, for it's flower meaning. Atsushi specifically with white lilies too, just because they match his aesthetic.
Fyodor: Black lilies. Because they mean beauty, mystery and death. Also the aesthetics suit him.
Yosano: Iris! They symbolize elegance, strength and admiration in Japanese and I've seen an art of Yosano standing in an iris field once and it stuck with me ever since.
Soukoku: I associate these bitches with too many flowers but I'll give you the ones I think of the most after the recent events. Manjushage or spider lilies, because they mean 'final goodbye' and asters because they mean 'I won't forget you' :)
That's all! Thank you for the ask, I loved answering this <3 I hope this helps you get rid of your arts block, even if it's just a bit.
