Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in a double role in Mani Ratnam's upcoming film 'Ponniyin Selvan'. She was back on the set of the film in Puducherry on Wednesday where the makers were then shooting for the film. Earlier this week, the makers of the film shared a new poster and announced that the first part of 'Ponniyin Selvan' will be released next year. The story of 'Ponniyin Selvan' was originally written by Kalki and will tell the story of King Arulmozivarman of the Chola dynasty during the tenth and eleventh centuries. Mani Ratnam has been preparing for the film for the last few years. In the film, Aishwarya will be seen as the goddess Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvetterrier, and the goddess of her mute mother, Queen Mandakini.
