@mandatorybedrest challenged me to do 1. don’t leave + Aecious in 3-10 sentences.  I.  I tried.  These two are so complicated that it’s really hard, but I did my best.  Warning for unrepentant angst here, though, bc I know the person who requested it is a fan.  (I couuuuuld be convinced to fix it if you want, though; just let me know.)

This is super off-brand for me omc.  Here goes.

Vicious had been awake for a damn good while, listening to Aegis shuffle around with all the grace of a child trying to sneak food from the kitchen for the first time, when the room suddenly fell quiet again.  But, he noted, Aegis hadn’t gone back to bed, instead standing by the door in silence that stretched like a spider’s web that shivered when he took a deep breath but didn’t break.

“Aegis,” Vicious grumbled, not opening his eyes, though he grew tense under the blanket, “go back t’ fuckin’ sleep.”

Another breath, this time sharper, like it had gotten caught in his throat (and Vicious couldn’t help remembering just a few hours before, the way that Aegis was open and vulnerable under him in a way that was almost shameless, completely unlike him and yet so delicious that Vicious hadn’t questioned it).  But there was nothing else to fill the space between them, no footsteps, no reaching hands, no understanding.  And wasn’t that fucking hilarious, because Vicious was pretty sure he knew it was the stupid ex-knight’s stupid guilt finally catching up to him, making him think shit like how he couldn’t be here working with his antithesis--like they were even so different anymore--or maybe how he couldn’t be around the kids--like he wasn’t young enough himself that his life could be a tragedy--for fear of ruining them like those bastards in the palace.

Vicious had fought those battles all before, and if he hadn’t won yet, he wasn’t going to.  So he swallowed down the words in his throat, from the most eloquent and cruel argument he could manage to a simple, Don’t leave, and waited until Aegis seemed to assume he was asleep again.

Click.  And then steps, disappearing like the trail of a fallen star.

I would also like to take a moment to appreciate @leperwitch for everything they do. What happened sucks for all of us, but it's been such a pleasure to help mod this blog with them for the last two years. Thanks for asking!  I am absolutely still doing these :D and I will do my best with Aegis.  I feel like you’re nudging me towards nsfw wrecking Aegis here, but my brain just wasn’t feeling smut, so please have this little mess very loosely based on your “Darling lagomorph.”

For those who don’t know me as well, please note that I have not played Tales of Crestoria, so all my knowledge of the game is secondhand through my talented friends’ stories, but I try my best.

A dying breath was supposed to be weak, Aegis had always thought.  And yet this one, in this one breathless sentence, a lifetime was undone.  Every sacrifice, every penny, every piece of his soul that he had shorn away in order to shape himself into the justice this world needed, every corner of his heart that had frozen in self-defense and chilled until it died--

It all meant nothing.

Aegis, please tell me you love me, even if it’s a lie, please, please please--

He had unmade himself, and she unmade the effigy, and nothing was now left.

i remember reading this listicle on some metal site years ago about like the most badass frontwomen in metal. it was a lot of who i expected, your angela gossows and your floor jansens, but i was really surprised when the top of the list was someone i’d never heard of? i’m pretty sure the song linked was proud to drown. my first (shallow) take was ‘what if jack off jill was like 30% more unhinged?’ i had an emusic subscription at the time and downloaded coward and then trophy and then ruiner and battle of mice and now i’m here! wishing i could go to roadburn!

The Fool: Do you have any nicknames? I do.  “Risu” is actually a nickname with a pretty complicated derivation.  It translates to “squirrel,” so I’ve been called that by some people.  And I have a nickname based on my legal name as well, but not many people use it.

The Magician: Have you ever written a poem or song about somebody else? Not typically real people.  I usually write about characters.  The last time I wrote a poem about a real person, it was me throwing vague shade a specific nurse in a hospital that nearly let me die by not taking my case seriously, and I don’t want to post that and be mean to healthcare workers right now.  

The High Priestess: What is your dream date? I can’t say I have one.  What I’d like to do for a date changes based on the person I’m with.  Whatever we do, I want it to be fun for both of us.
