Thank you to @rimas.resin.art for using our glitters to create this beautiful bee art, but more importantly for telling us the very impelling story behind it 🙏🙏❤️❤️ ・・・ As you look at this, some of you may just see a bee, but to Mancunians, this bee means a lot lot more....... . Manchester first started using the worker bee as a symbol during the Industrial Revolution since it was one of the cities leading the way for industrial change. The worker bee symbolised the hard work of every Mancunian, making the city a 'hive of activity' in the 19th century. . Then in May 2017, an ugly soul detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb as people were leaving the Manchester Arena following a concert by ‪Ariana Grande‬. . Twenty-two innocent people died and 139 were wounded, more than half of them children. . So following this bombing, the bee emblem gained popularity as a public symbol of unity against terrorism, appearing on protest banners and graffiti. Tattoo parlours began to take part in the Manchester Tattoo Appeal, in which they offered bee tattoos to raise money for the victims of the attack. This commission is going as a sweet 16th birthday present to a lovely girl, who was immensely touched by the events of that day. She was one of the lucky ones.... . . . #manchesterbee #manchesterbees #manchesterbeeart #mancbee #bee #workerbee #🐝 #manchester #ilovemanchester #prayformanchester #arianagrandemanchesterexplosion #wearemanchester #beesstillbuzz #oneloveconcert #cheshireartists#just4youonlineuk #resinart#glitter#glitterart#cheshireartist#wilmslow#cheshire#rimasresinart#abstractart_daily (at Warrington, England) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvP48jEn15o/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=66l0ieg88tvd
