The problem is that that these aren't fancy per se - it's just the manabase 😭 I didn't even factor in that a lot of the ones I have are foils/expeditions (except for the Razorverge Thickets) 😭

This seems bad

Note
Regarding snow basics not causing any balance issues - Arcum's Astrolabe had to be banned in both Modern and Legacy, as it made it too easy to have a manabase that could play any color of spell while not being vulnerable to cards like Blood Moon or Wasteland that traditionally punish "greedy" manabases.
I’m aware.

So my car is kinda fucked
I need at least 500$ as soon as possible
I'm also looking to sell several MTG cards including
Judge Promo Avacyn (250)
Foil Full Art Urborg (175)
Masterpiece Scroll Rack (110)
Masterpiece Entomb (80)
FNM Reanimate (40)
If you wanna buy a full deck, I'll be listing my Mono White angels (Has the avacyn in it, as well as a ton of foils and a fully matching set of foil basic lands for the manabase) and possibly my Jeleva, (Has the urborg and scroll rack in it, and just a ton of other shit like fetches and expropriate) Prices are somewhat flexible, but I've already taken a decent bit off.
Please contact me if u wanna buy a card, but I need to be out and walking for several hours about to get money for my car today.
My Paypal.me, if you are feeling generous
If it makes any difference, my birthday is on the 17th this month.

trying to get into cEDH deckbuilding is so frustrating because i keep finding commanders that combo out in cool and unique ways, but then realize (in this order) that:
wait, that combo costs like 4/5/6 mana, how do i get that much mana by turn 2/3?
oh right, by proxying spending literally $1000 on various Moxen, duh, why would i think i can get into a new competitive format without selling my kidney to afford a manabase, silly me
[if not running blue] ah shit, wait, even if i do get the Magical Christmas Land draw and go off on turn 2, i have no interaction and fold to 20 different common answers that everyone knows to hold onto as soon as i tell them who my commander is. why am i not picking a commander that can just run Thoracle?
[if running blue] wait, why am i jumping through all these hoops when Thoracle is faster + more consistent?
why am i even trying to build a combo around my commander when picking some random UBx commander and building around Thoracle + Consultation + tutors + counters is so much more effective?
why am i even trying to get into cEDH if every decklist is solved and most of them aren't as good as a generic wincon not even tied to a specific commander?
why am i even alive?

hey hi! i was wondering if you had any spicy tech ideas for Zoraline, Cosmos Caller. super interested in this lil bat and looking for some input! :3
I have some spicy tech, though it won't be that spicy because she's fairly open-ended. I've written at length about two of the cards I'll recommend first because I think they're excellent options in any white decks, but doubly so with Zoraline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I believe they're great ramp options for white, they also interact positively with Zoraline and each other. While Scholar can straightforwardly remove Finality counter from whatever Zoraline brings back, The Restoration of Eiganjo will remove it from itself after a couple turns when it blinks itself to transform.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... And Restoration of Eiganjo isn't the only 3 or less drop that exiles itself to transform, these two will shed their Finality counter upon transforming if brought back by Zoraline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thought we were done? Battles also exile themselves to flip. Dunno how heavy you'll go on bats, but the Holy Frazzle Canon can help a bit there, and isn't the worst removal to use at first... But Gobakhan is the true prize here. It flips with one attack from Zoraline, then can be sacced to make your board indestructible while buffing it, and then Zoraline can bring it back, and since it exiles to be cast when defeated, you can do that as many times as you want. Sadly, you can't attack the battle in the same attack you bring it back with Zoraline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, these three aren't really spicy for me, they're just great cards for any deck in the color doing graveyard stuff, but I love them so might as well mention them.
Tumblr media
I don't know how heavy you're going on bats, but bats fly, Zoraline flies, and Jackdaw Savior is already decent by itself. Assuming you got a good curve and are filling the graveyard (which I would do if I was running all these because 90% of them care about the graveyard), it's a pretty high floor, at least if there's not a ton of exile removal around in your meta.
Tumblr media
Lazotep Quarry is a criminally overlooked land (from a monthago, but still), people play High Market just to have a sac outlet in their manabase, and for now this is even cheaper than that, and then it's also reanimation in your manabase!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Generally speaking, Blink is your friend to get rid of finality counters, and there'll likely be plenty of etb triggers to reuse in the deck you'll end up with, if it focuses on Zoraline's recursion.
Of course the deck could go into a completely different direction, and focus on the bats or lifegain half of Zoraline. In that case, the payoffs are much easier to search for though, since Zoraline gains life one by one, she'll trigger repeatedly anything on life gain. Pridemates, Well of Lost Dreams, the increases by one...

My sister has shit MtG opinions.
She thinks armageddon is a perfectly acceptable, and fun for the table, card to run two of her commander (second copy is ravages of war).
It's not a "finisher" and a "combo extender" it's a stop having fun button, and when you play it the game will continue for several rounds while none of your opponents are able to do anyting as you and only you build your manabase back up from the graveyard.
I'm not saying she shouldn't run it. She can do whatever she wants forever. I'm not in her play group.
I'm saying she should recognize it for what it is rather than what she idealizes it to be. It's not a finisher: It's a prison piece.

How do you feel about Proxying whole decks or cards like the OG Duals in Commander?
i absolutely love proxies!! i have a friend who has an entire toxrill deck thats all proxies actually and i have no problem with it. i think you shouldn't proxy cards that are like way out of the power level of the group you are playing with, like i wouldnt proxy a mana crypt in my current play group cause itd feel unfair but overall proxies are a good thing for the game i think :3
as for like og duals i also think that depends on your play group, like even using fetches in my group feels kind of weird cause most of us are playing with budget manabases, so i avoid og duals like the plague lol. but overall i dont think they are unhealthy for the game as a whole, i feel like mana screw is the least fun part of the game so if you can afford to run perfect mana then more power to you!!

Design Deep-Dive #5: Lands Week - The Tri-Lands
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps the most powerful mana fixing in the Unwell Kingdom comes in the form of a set of tri-lands with a unique ability!
Traditionally, lands that tap for three colors of mana always come in tapped, to compensate for the powerful options they enable. These ones offer an additional option for players who just can't wait a turn: bounce another untapped land to your hand, and the tri-land enters untapped, letting you can use the mana right away!
My hope is that this gives players some interesting decisions in play, by prompting them to evaluate the rhythm of their gameplan -- Is accessing a new color immediately worth stalling out a turn on building your manabase? Even if the answer is often "no," keen players may be rewarded for spotting the rare "yes" scenarios!
It was difficult to decide on the colors to use for this batch of lands. This set is NOT a Streets of New Capenna, built to push 3-color decks above all else. I figure players will be happy enough building 2-color decks and finding their colors supported enough to splash into a third now and then, with the chance to go wild with a 4+ color brew if stars align! Here's where I landed:
Crestfall, Unwell Capital - Esper ☀️💧💀
Shipwreck Camp - Sultai 💀🌳💧
Bran Bramble - Jund 💀🔥🌳
Cobbleston - Naya 🔥🌳☀️
Glimmer - Jeskai 💧🔥☀️
While every color and color pair are represented, these are only 5 of the 10 possible 3-color combos (frankly, between these and all the other lands, I was running out of notable locations to pull from our D&D campaign!). This means you're twice as likely to get a tri-land containing some pairs (☀️💧, 🔥☀️, 💧💀, 💀🌳, 🔥🌳) than others (☀️💀, 🌳☀️, 💧🔥, 💧🌳, 💀🔥). This is definitely something I'll keep an eye on during playtests.
Regardless, these will go a long way to getting players into the colors they want to play! I decided to print them as commons, meaning they won't take up rare slots in packs and there will be four copies of each!
Mana fixing is now looking much more reliable, but that's not all lands are designed to do...

I want to hear more about your deck
In order to do burn / dragons I'm using Dragon's approach to facilitate the dual core, with the entire thing running on a full mono-red (or red/X source) manabase. For color identity, it's actually 5 color in order to maximize my options of which dragons I can get onto the field since I'm realistically cheating them all out anyways. For the commander I'm using Morophon since he works as one of the few options of a 5 color dragon that can be cast off of all red, and enables getting out other things easier with the cost reduction.
Basically the idea is to sit back firebomb all my opponents and then when they start realizing I'm a threat it's already too late and approximately 15 dragons are about to hit the field, nearly all of which are going to facilitate more burn or other combos before i decide to hit someone for like 50+ in the air or usually finish off multiple players at once.

What format do you play?
Commander! Right now my either in-progress or completed decks are...fuck where's that toolbox. Ayula - Monogreen Bears. Because bears are the best animal ever and no I will not take feedback for this statement at this time. Kodama of the Central Tree - Monogreen Kamigawa Spirits. It's silly, not the strongest, but I love spirits. Yuriko - Dimir Ninjas. Thinking of changing this to a Sultai one with Tatsunari at its head cause Yuriko is just such a target once she enters the battlefield. Sure she cheats out easily but like I feel bad because people see her and think my deck is gonna be so much scarier than it actually is Magda - Monored Dwarves. Because dwarves are one of my favorite fantasy races <3 Heiko Yamazaki - Monored Samurai/artifacts. Yeah, I normally hate artifacts, but she's a queer samurai rebel, so of course I was gonna make a deck for her. Gyome - Golgari Food deck. It's silly, but its fun and I love it. Can't wait for the lord of the ring set to come out so I can make another food deck. Gretchen Twitchwillow - Simic Moonfolk Landfall deck. All about bouncing lands back to my hand with the moonfolk and playing extra lands. I love Moonfolk, and I wish they got more love Kotori - Azorious Vehicle Moonfolk. Look, you give me an excuse to play moonfolk and I will take that fucking excuse. Uses all the newer Kamigawa ones who cared more about vehicles/artifact creatures instead of bouncing. Rhoda & Timin - Azorius Spirit Control. All about tapping other peoples creatures and boosting Rhoda for it. Not as mean as other azorius controls, I just want to tap your stuff not stop you from doing anything whatsoever. Ranar - Azorius Spirit Blink/Foretell. I LOVE SPIRITS OKAY SUE ME AND THIS LETS ME PLAY THEM A DIFFERENT WAY. Millicent - Azorius Spirit Tokens. I will not defend myself again, spirits are the best and the other tribes, besides dwarves and moonfolk, can suck it. YOU HEAR ME DRAGONS. YOU CAN FUCKING SUCK THIS ECTOPLASMIC DICK. Miirym - Temur Dragon Tribal. LOOK. HE'S A SPIRIT, AND I MADE IT DND THEMED OKAY. Gisa & Geralf - Dimir Zombies. Not as strong as some other zombie decks cause I themed it hard around Innistrad vibes. Captain N'ghathrod - Dimir Horror Mill. I couldn't resist playing the mindflayer. And he's so much fun. Umbris, Fear Manifest - Dimir Horror Exile. Started this one before Captain to make an Ashiok themed deck cause I love their spooky dream haunting nb ass. Satsuki - Selesnya Saga. I love Sagas and really enchantments in general, and I find her fun. Anafenza - Abzan themed Abzan deck. Look, Tarkir is the greatest plane in the multiverse and of the factions on Tarkir, the Abzan are the best <3 Go-Shintai - Five Color Shrines. Purposefully not made to be as degenerate and scary as the normal Go-Shintai bullshit decks, just made it to play all my shrines together. Manabase is a fucking mess on this one. Naomi - Orzhov Unnatural. This was originally my Mardu Samurai but it just felt like a mess so I took it apart and refined it into her <3

I've been thinking about multi colour commanders and I feel like I don't really like 4 colour commanders?
5 colour commanders are big and flashy and when they offer unique deck building opportunities like Tom Bombadil, they're really fun to build.
On the other end, 1 to 3 colour commanders feel like they're still restrictive enough that whatever colours you have, you still feel like you're missing out significantly on the colours you're missing. (which is great!)
Meanwhile 4 colour commanders just feel like they're 5 colour but worse. Being short one colour doesn't feel like it affects deck building significantly, and the commanders themselves don't feel unique compared to other commanders with more or fewer colours than them. It's like I have to work out a more complicated manabase for an effect that could be in fewer colours.
Just wanted to know your thoughts on them too.
How do others feel about four-color commanders?

OK ok listen.
I love landstill. It's such a cool archetype and so dear and close to my heart but for the most part it is Not Great. It has some glaring issues as an archetype other control lists like Oath or grixis midrange or jeskai tempo or delver or esper control just don't struggle with for the main part, cause we chose standstill as a card draw engine and kind of like Gush it has some Deckbuilding Requirements that make it tick. Part of this is being able to land a threat under a standstill, part of this is managing your standstills vs your absolute tempo and the strange pattern of mana investment that goes along with that, part of that is managing your opponent's tempo while keeping pressure up. I have tried a fair few landstill decks that attempt to balance this: temur landstill with wrenn and oko is a blast but has some card investment/mana spent for the effect issues. UW landstill with Timeless Dragon and Shark Typhoon is great too cause it has a super simplified mana base and can really lean on being able to play wastelands and urza's saga in the same shell as well as having access to stony silence which is just... pretty good. It, however lacks the explosiveness of a t1 oko, t2 standstill kinda start, which is fine, it's just far more control oriented and less midrange which I thought was an interesting dilemma and wanted to play around with.
Enter stiflenaught, a deck that's been around for ages and (a) has a simple manabase, (b) has some explosive clocks (c) has a low manacurve and (d) can toolbox exceptionally well with urza's saga.
I took a stiflenaught shell and modified it to be standstill-compatible and to use lurrus because balance is cracked and we kind of wanted white anyways. This produced a pile of jank so monstrous that it took me a hot second to parse the play patterns associated with it and pare it down to a somewhat-workable pile. We're on a 61 card special because... uh, I like memes? Anyways, here's the list and I've had a lot of fun jamming it. Remember folks, vintage is cool and proxies are based af.
