Y’know what makes me crazy. Laurence has spent so much of his life in the New Sequence. He’s incredibly dedicated to their cause. Even putting aside the sunk cost fallacy here, it’s not incorrect to say that he’s built his entire sense of identity around the role he plays in Zelo’s Town. To go against the Sequence is going against the work of the two people he loved most dearly in the world, and everything he helped create. So it’s nearly impossible for him to like, ever consider defecting.

Nearly. Nearly.

Because like- despite alllll of this, there’s still a set of circumstances where he’d leave. Leave with regrets, yes, with what-ifs maybe. But he would leave!

The only possible way Laurence leaves the Sequencers is if Bev has 1. Already skiddaddled and 2. Asks him.

At the end of the day, Laurence has always been more loyal to the Beverley family than he’s been to the Sequence. He’d never take the chance of possibly coming to blows with his kid someday. So he’d just… go.

core jedi ocs

the heretic: shae is a young jedi who is about 16-19 during the clone wars. they are strongly against the war and refuse to participate, earning them the ire and disrespect of their peers and teachers. they spend most of their time in the archives where they run the children's part of it. they have always had unconventional ideas about the order and spend their life battling their ideals and their place in the order and community.

the hollow: dreode rosier is a jedi knight who fell to the dark side slowly and gradually and is now doing everything she can to hide her mistakes and immorality. she is naturally deceptive and presents herself as the perfect jedi as the gnawing emptiness inside grows. her incompetence and deceit is exposed during the clone wars in which her actions and arrogance result in growing casualties throughout her battalion. eventually, enough is enough and she gets what's coming to her in the face of max, via her own lightsaber.

the helpless: filti is a member of dreode's lineage and was trained by the same master as dreode: telenan. however, due to telenan's declining health dreode has to unofficially take over her teaching. faced with the deterioration of her lineage sister's morality and mind, filti keeps dreode's secret despite the older jedi's aloof cruelty. filti is then knighted before the war and by the end she has lost both her master and dreode, faced with the grief and helplessness of her life she turns to the dark side, desperate to regain control of her life.

telenan - dreode and filti's master, a steadfast and well meaning jedi whose love for her padawans was not enough to save them.

core clone ocs

max - the commander in dreode's battalion, max is the one who keeps it all going. he tempers dreode's cruel arrogance and convinces her to accept strategy suggestions. he's a patient, unyielding and steadfast man who cares deeply for his battalion but feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders.

slasher - a member of the coruscant guard who would much rather be, and often bunks off, to ghost hunt on coruscant. misunderstood by his fellow guards he struggles to explain his sense of impending doom that seems to permeate coruscant. enthusiastic but impulsive and easily distracted, he is banned from working with senators.

side/underdeveloped clone ocs

java - stationed on kamino, java has an eye on everything technological on kamino. known for locking people in corridors with the security system when they annoy her, she is not one to be crossed. however she is fiercely loyal and ambitious, desperate to use her skills outside kamino.

shriek - the head medic of max's battalion, shriek is reluctantly cheerful and often screamed for in the battlefield, hence her name. she is also named due to her and her sibling hawk's love of the shriekhawk. she is consistent but often flounders in situations she cannot fix immediately.

trouble - an engineer on 'the just' (max's battalion's venator) trouble's nature is in their name. he is an avid experimentalist which often leads in explosions. she holds little belief in the war, more interested in rewiring battle droids than fighting them.

miscellaneous ocs

chiron - a charismatic blacksmith that encounters max in the early months of the clone wars, chiron is friendly and likeable and makes an immediate impression. he keeps correspondence with max offering a way out of the war for the commander as the two slowly fall in love.

pekkala - once a jedi initiate, pekkala's lack of control led to her being sent back to her home planet. feeling betrayed by the order and isolated from her family, she takes comfort in a mysterious monument, soaked in the dark side, that calls to her with the force. eventually pekkala is reduced to a mere town legend of the evil witch in the mountains. that is until a jedi running from imperial forces by the name of shae lands of her planet.

List 102: Top Ten Favorite Kuroko No Basuke Characters

Tumblr seems to be the better place to make lists about things that are quicker and not as writing intensive for me. I think it will be my breeding ground for small lists about specific topics now. Hope you enjoy and if you have a list you want me to do about a certain topic or series tell me somewhere on the interwebs! 

Today we cover my favorites of Kuroko no Basuke! 

10. Shoichi Imayoshi

I love characters who pay attention to details. It will be a common thread of the people on here. Imayoshi is a man who is a viper. He coils around his opponents and is always trying to talk his way into their minds. It’s all part of his gameplan. Makes him sound like a douche but off the court he is actually a decent guy, he just loves to be a clever bastard. And the moment you can tell someone who acts so strongly all the time cries even when he loses shows he does it all because he loves the game. 

9. Rinnosuke Mitobe

A silent but sweet man who is always in the background. He is the man of the house a lot of the time and does a lot of the work. That is who Mitobe is. All work and no play and misunderstood because he doesn’t talk. I love silent characters who are given depth by those around him like Koga and his family. They show how much character he really does have despite not needing words to display who he is at heart. 

8. Riko Aida

One of the most involved coaches I’ve seen in a sports series. She is a fellow classmate to all her team, and treats them all like friends. She is always using her intelligence to make the best plan to strengthen her team, self, and all those around her. Observational skills to the max are at her core with how she makes the team a real powerhouse. Also she is so dedicated to caring on and off that court I can’t help but be enamored. 

7. Junpei Hyuga

The team captain should always pull his weight and spread the encouraging vibes no matter the situation. Usually when Hyuga is going well the whole team is. Sometimes he even falters but with the coach at his side he can always find his place again. It’s this dual layer of support that him and Riko give the team and each other that makes Seirin click the way they do. Also Hyuga is a sharp tongued guy and it cracks me up how he isn’t good at speeches but gets his point across regardless. 

6. Yukio Kasamatsu

Here is a captain I truly admire. His team is often in a tough situation without the star power. Most of them are just hardworkers outside of Kise. His work ethic and determination are boundless though. I love Kasamatsu for being the very image of what a captain is. No matter the odds or circumstances he stays steadfast and ready to take it on with his team he believes in. He may come off a bit serious but it is all part of what makes him who he is, a leader. 

5. Kazunari Tako

Smartass characters are always some of the easiest to enjoy. They lightly tease those around them to keep the mood from getting too serious, while simultaneously working hard to keep the morale high. Kazunari is just a fun person. He loves basketball, and is a polar opposite to his teammate Midorima. Yet, they work in coalition so well because Kazunari is smart at knowing how to treat his fellow players with respect. What he seems to lack in serious drive he is using to his advantage to make the best play possible. 

4. Ryota Kise

Kise is easily one of the members of the show that goes through the most growth. His desire to improve in all areas of the game because he isn’t the best at anything but copying is admirable. He even goes so far as pushing his body far past it’s limits for his team. He wants to win for them so badly because he knows how hard they all work to achieve that goal. He is also just a really friendly guy with the best nicknames by far. You can see his shift in attitude and growth as the series goes on very clearly and it makes him go from cocky model to valued ace. 

3. Teppei Kiyoshi

I had to use the same gif haha. Teppei is one of my favorites for a lot of reasons. Characters who are the heart of a team though, are easy to love. Teppei puts his all into making basketball fun and satisfying for everyone who plays it. This even includes his opponents. Despite him wanting to take it seriously he also values the fun factor of the game above all else. He is like the big brother character on the team and it really shows. The only person who strives to show how fun basketball can be even more is.....

2. Tetsuya Kuroko

The phantom man Kuroko! The whole series is because of this little guy. The one who is working harder than anyone else in the shadows. No one takes much notice of Kuroko and how much he puts in, but those who do are very clearly impressed. Kuroko had a hard time with his group of teammates in the past. They all grew to a skill level to where winning was all they valued anymore. The love of the game was gone. And for most sports fanatics the love of the game is the greatest reason to play. Kuroko’s journey was all about showing his teammates why someone who had to work so hard to even be on the same court could be just as valuable or even the most valuable player(MVP!) on the entire team. This is what Kuroko brings. Where he lacks in physical prowess he makes up for with strategy and amazing observational skills. Sports series need a character who pulls it along, but when the person is doing it with a very personal and meaningful reason outside of being the best, it really is something worth being impressed by. Kuroko is the character who beats modern sports character conventions because he plays for his friends and the love of the game before all else. 

1. Aomine Daiki 

Yet, Aomine is still my favorite of the whole bunch. He is the player who is the most talented ball player by far. And it brings him to a level where he can single handedly best other teams. He is a monster on the court and because the challenge was taken out of basketball for him he slowly changed from someone who loved basketball more than anyone, to a cynical player who found it to be almost tiresome. This is why I love Aomine, his arc comes full circle. I love players who are more passionate about the game then anything and that is what he was. Until he lost it. And with Kagami/Kuroko’s help he is finally brought to play at his very best for the first time in a very long time. He had fun again. He felt what he was longing for. He finally got to feel the challenge and in turn Aomine returns to form and is able to slowly find his love again, his absolute love for basketball. He then becomes basically the best supporting character off of Seiren as a commentator who understands the game and brings worthwhile monologuing with it. Aomine is my favorite of Kuroko’s cast because he is the brightest light in the game but something made him lose his shine. It took a shadow to bring his shimmer back, and when he finally shone again it was a sight to behold.

John Wall says he wants to stay with Wizards for whole career

WASHINGTON — John Wall wants to win a championship, but he doesn’t plan to bounce around the NBA chasing a ring.

After signing a $170 million, four-year extension with the Washington Wizards that keeps him under contract through 2022-23, Wall said he wants to watch two banners rise to the rafters in Washington: one for a title and another with his No. 2 jersey.

“There’s no point in testing free agency if I know where I want to be,” Wall said Friday. “I have the ultimate goal what I want to do here. I know what team I want to play for my whole career.”

Wall turns 27 in September, so he’ll only be 32 when this contract expires or 31 if he opts out in 2022. Backcourt mate Bradley Beal and swingman Otto Porter Jr. are signed to max contracts through 2021, giving the Wizards several seasons to try to win with this core.

In an era of players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant taking their talents elsewhere, Wall put his money where his mouth is by agreeing to another contract.

“It’s critical that your star players want to stay and play for the team. That’s not always the case,” said Washington coach Scott Brooks, who previously coached Durant in Oklahoma City. “We have our three players that we drafted all want to stay here and stay long term. It’s good because if you don’t have your best players want to stay here, nobody wants to stay here.”

Owner Ted Leonsis said he didn’t think Wall would “have a wandering eye” about free agency when his contract was up in 2019. Wall said loyalty played a role, though it doesn’t hurt that it has come with three playoff appearances in the past four years.

The Wizards had missed the playoffs the previous five seasons but are now among the top teams in the East along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. Amid all the roster fluctuation with Kyrie Irving wanting out of Cleveland, Boston signing Gordon Hayward and Paul George being traded from Indiana to Oklahoma City, Washington continues to value continuity.

“We want to have consistent, sustainable success,” Brooks said. “We don’t want to ride the roller-coaster of an NBA team going up and down, up and down each and every other year.”

Wall said he wants to stay Washington, but acknowledged he’ll see what happens after this contract. He wants to control where he plays but doesn’t have wanderlust about what else is out there after seven seasons in Washington.

“You have a lot of guys teaming up, which you wouldn’t see in the past,” Wall said. “Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side.”

Even after re-signing Beal last summer to a $128 million, five-year contract and matching a $106.5 million, four-year offer sheet on Porter earlier this offseason, Wall was always the key. The Kentucky product set career highs with 23.1 points, 10.7 assists and 2.0 steals last season and appears to be getting better each season.

“We’re very fortunate to have one of the very few players in the league that make their teammates better, and that’s what John Wall does,” team president Ernie Grunfeld said. “Basketball’s a game of stars. You have to have your best players carry most of the load, and then you have to put complementary pieces around them.”

Having quality roster depth, including starters Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat and sixth man Kelly Oubre Jr., is a major reason why Wall decided to stick around. Despite not getting past the second round, the Wizards pushed the Celtics to Game 7 and would have had a better chance had Wall not finished 0 of 11.

Wall said he was fatigued late in that game and vowed to work on that so it doesn’t happen again. The Wizards are glad they’ll have many years to see if he makes good on that.

“You would love to have him extended just because of who he is as a person and who he is as a player,” Brooks said. “When you have that combination as one of your team leaders, you don’t want to let him leave in the middle of his prime.”
