Part 2
-
Batman had sent you a message about the situation going on before leaving to fight Superman head on.
You didn't want to believe that Damian would leave his own father just like that. Even if his opinion differed from his own, Superman shouldn’t be trusted with his mindset at the moment.
With all the heroes trying to fight against Superman’s team, Batman assigned you to take care of Damian.
You contemplated over the choice to message Damian to come meet you so you can talk some sense into him. You knew Damian and he wasn’t like this, at least not to you.
Taking a chance, you shot him a message. This was a situation where you can’t hesitate and Batman realized that you were probably the only one who could change Damian’s mind on this situation.
You didn’t want to fail him or Damian.
‘Do this for Damian.’ You told yourself as you leaned against the alleyway that led between a restaurant that you and Damian frequent at.
You didn’t know how you would convince him to do the right thing because when he believed he was doing right it was end of story. He was so hard-headed and it was the cause of many fights between you guys as he wouldn’t admit he was wrong or even compromise.
You heard the soft and unmistakable sound of a cape flowing against the wind. Preparing yourself to face Damian after everything that’s happened, you close your eyes and let out a heavy sigh to get rid of the nervous emotions that are pent up inside of you.
“Y/N.” Damian acknowledged, standing a few steps away from you in his red Nightwing suit instead of the robin one you were so used to.
It was awkward.
You hadn’t seen him since he left Batman and went his own way, effectively captured and jailed. Now that he’s out, you don’t know what you guys are. But you need to try your damn hardest to get Damian to realize his mistake.
“Damian… please stop.” You begged him, he was still your Damian. Still, the guy who you loved and was there for you during your hardest time. You grabbed his glove covered hands, wishing that you could actually feel his skin against your own.
“I can’t do that and you know it.” He responded, his voice cold and so emotionless. It was like he was a shell, back to square one when Damian first came to Gotham. No emotions just fighting.
“Yes, you can! It’s not that hard, just go save your father and come back to me. I love you!” You took off your mask showing Damian how serious you were right now. You were pulling at every emotion within you to convince Damian to stop believing in Superman.
“Batman doesn’t understand me.”
“He is your father! He raised you!” Your heart ached for the man, Bruce spent so much time teaching Damian how it was okay to feel emotions after finding out how he was raised as a weapon instead of a human.
“He did not raise me, the league of assassins did!”
“How could you say that Damian? Your father loves you! Who was the one who took you in when the assassins left you? Who taught you it was okay to love?” You were desperate, trying to get Damian to see the right side.
“He was trying to make me into someone I’m not.” Damian wasn’t swerving no matter how much you tried and you didn’t know what to do.
“And this is who you are? Superman is not the person to go to, he’s hurt and not himself, his morals are not what they used to be, he’s not doing the right thing can’t you see that?” You grabbed his shoulders this time, trying to shake it into him but he moves away from your grasp.
“He cares for me more than Batman does and he doesn’t have his stupid no killing code, he believes in my way of justice.”
“Way of justice? Superman’s killing everyone!”
“He’s killing people who deserve it!”
“And would I deserve it? If he killed me would you be okay with that?” You don’t know if you want to hear the answer anymore after you said it. This Damian wasn’t the Damian you fell in love with.
Not waiting to hear his answer after a few seconds have passed you instead hugged him hoping that he would change.
“Damian please.” You cried into his shoulder. The world was turning into shit and Damian wasn’t believing you. He hugged you back giving you the slight hope that maybe he’ll choose the right option, he'll choose you, but as soon as that thought flashed your mind it left at the feeling of a needle entering your system.
You part from him to see that he had injected some sort of liquid inside of you and you felt yourself get dizzy. Your eyes meet Damian’s in betrayal and saw he didn’t feel any regret for his actions.
“It’s okay, you’ll be on the right side in no time.”
You fell into his arms as the serum took full effect on you, making you pass out. Damian looked at your body wondering if he was doing the right thing or not but chose to believe in Superman’s plan.
It will all be okay soon.
-
He carried you to Superman, you still sound asleep in his arms.
“Batman had her try and convince me to turn on you.” He spoke up as Superman looked at you in question. “She’s still a part of his team.”
“His non-existent team now.” Superman corrected as he took a look at you. You were the last one he has to take control of now.
He went to reach for another device that he used on Batman to get him to turn on his side. A glowing purple device and he got closer to you. Your mask had been slid back on by Damian so he had an easy way to connect the device to your brain as he did with Batman.
You begin to stir a bit at that moment, your body feeling heavy. You felt arms around you and you saw a blurry Superman in your vision.
“What’s…?” Before you can finish the sentence, the device attached itself to your head and the pain of the insertion makes you cry out before you pass out again in Damian’s arms from the overwhelming feeling.
“There, all done.” Damian nodded and walked away, taking you to a room to let you rest in until you woke up, not really digesting what he’s done.
‘I did the right thing.’ He tells himself as he lays you down on the bed, the purple device glowing brighter than ever and no way out of your head without killing you in the process. No matter what happens he’ll have to live with that fact.
A few hours go by before you do end up waking up and Damian is by your side, waiting. He saw his father with the device before but he never had a chance to observe him closely to see the effects of it.
“How do you feel?” Damian’s voice cuts the air as he looks at you in anticipation but you never respond. Your eyes glowed the same purple that was placed on your head.
“Y/N?” Damian looks at you, fearing the worst as you don’t respond. Superman then walks into the room, making sure every last person apart of Batman’s team is brainwashed.
“I see she’s functioning well.” He commented seeing the purple in your eyes as a sign of having full control over you.
“She’s not really responding though.”
“She’s not supposed to, she’s supposed to follow our command. I can’t let that team think for themselves or else they’ll betray us again. They’re highly trained robots and they're on our side now. They will never stray.”
Robot?
Is that what the mind controlling device does? Damian then realized the effect of his actions on you. You weren’t your own person anymore, you can’t think for yourself. He’s killed your brain, your feelings, and your free will.
This was the answer to your question. ‘If Superman killed you, would he be okay with that?’
Maybe he wasn’t okay but he can’t do anything about it now because it was one person against the whole world and you were already gone.
