It's hard for me to believe that at the beginning of this year, I didn't know a single one of my best friends in the world existed. But it's true!

How we got here

I'm not quite sure exactly when I started looking up Pedro Pascal on Tumblr, but it was sometime after February. I'd watched Game of Thrones and Oberyn was my favorite character, but I was in one of my periods of not being on Tumblr (I've had this account for about 10 years, but it's seen many fandoms and I haven't always been active).

I watched the first few episodes of The Last of Us that had come out - I was 3 episodes behind I think - and immediately looked up Joel Miller on Tumblr. How could I not? Anyway, give me ten minutes on this hellsite and a middle aged man with a huge imdb and watch me develop a hyperfixation.

So then I looked up interviews. I watched basically every interview this man ever did, but I remember that the Lie Detector interview and his appearance on the Talk Easy podcast are really what did me in. I went from admiring this man as an actor and thinking he's pretty to basically being in love with him.

Anyways....

I didn't mean to start reading fanfic? I come from the world of Destiel on AO3. I never wrote it, I just read copious amounts of it. I'd never read reader insert, much less straight reader insert, and I'd never written a word of anything even resembling a fanfiction.

But I found @prolix-yuy, @frannyzooey, @joelscruff, @fuckyeahdindjarin, and @ezrasbirdie (check the spreadsheet, y'all are at the very top!) and I was hooked.

Then I read Psychomanteum by @whatsnewalycat and Celestial Navigation by @write-and-buried and was inspired to parade my trauma around in a Dieter shaped trench coat: AGOY was born.

@beskarandblasters is the first person I really talked to on here. In fact, Kel is the one who introduced me to most of my friends on here. And we've been harassing each other on the daily since. I hope to 🦵 her in real life someday soon ❤️. I love you, bitch. You mean the world to me.

I could never ever ever list all of my dear friends I've made on here. Seriously, there are so many of you that mean the world to me. But I'm gonna list a few.

My cannibal crew @pr0ximamidnight and @atinylittlepain, without whom Love as Violence Dave (starving season), Head up his Ass Javi (in the a.m.), and the later editions of loser druggie Dieter (AGOY) would not exist - or at least they wouldn't be as good as they are.

My darling soup snake, the loml, my spider twin, my forever partner in making bitches cry (it's us, we're bitches, making each other cry in an endless loop) @ramblers-lets-get-ramblin. #1 AGOY stan forever, you may love my own magnum opus more than I love it. Thanks for listening to me scream about every pedro boy on the planet and thanks for screaming right back at me. I love you.

The random college student I found by accident, decided to take under my wing, and then was subsequently taken under their wing bc it turns out they have more fandom experience and life advice than I can ever hope to have @idolatrybarbie. Bea, my darling, thanks for always letting me bitch, for showing me fics I never thought I'd be into (The Santa Claus AU Frankie Morales Free Use Kink, anyone) but that I often was into, for encouraging my writing, and for being fucking real with me.

The pedrostories crew, but especially @pedrorascal - I love screaming about Pedro with you at... 2:30 in the morning my time (we love time zones!). Thanks for letting me be a terrible mod for your fic archive blog and never getting mad at me for not doing my job. And for being a wonderful, kind, amazing person all the fucking time.

I'm being so serious when I say I could list at least 20 more people. People who brightened my day with a reblog or a message. Or who wrote a fic I still think about at least once a week. Or who made a gifset that is permanently etched into my brain. People I talked to in discords and most likely trauma dumped on and they listened and they cared and they let me hold their trauma in return. I love you guys so fucking much.

Conclusion

I never could have imagined I'd be a writer and run a fic rec blog at 24. Especially not for Pedro Pascal Characters. But here we are -- and I can honestly say it has been the highlight of my year. And I bought a house this year.

I have so many new friends and a new hobby (I never wrote at all before this) just because I wanted to Fuck That Old Man. Incredible.

hmmm honestly, even though they often don't get the most notes (or many at all), my fav creations are actually the ones i make for my moots bc i love seeing them love something made for them 🥺(and seeing them lose it in the tags hahaha) for example, this hyunminsung set; this soft lino set (and the infamous siyuan bias list set i made though i think there have been some new additions in the past month LOL); this changbin set; this tyong set

3. a creation you're really proud of

any of my comp sets!! apple hair lino, glasses lino, bw cap lino, shit lino says, the lino mood sets. i love making them, but they take a while and it's really nice to see the resulting set

4. a creation that took you forever

this lino maniac one took quite a while because i wanted to make all the clips move in sync, sometimes it works on my computer and not my phone so idk if it actually worked lol but had a lot of fun pain making that one

my first linotonin set, i am blown away by it but also maybe not surprised hahaha while we're here i will also plug my linotonin pt 2 and my linotonin in video form lol in case anyone needs a little linotonin in their life rn

6. a creation you think deserves more notes

like kass and sa and siyuan have all already said better, i don't think i necessarily deserve any notes because we're all here screaming about kpop in our little corners of the internet so it's not that deep lol, i'm glad if people like my sets and it brings them joy like it did for me to make them but i make sets because i want to <3 though i certainly appreciate the nice tags that people leave of course

that being said, i am still so shocked that this set received so many notes, like I GET WHY but i truly was just putting some random clips of lino that i liked from that skz talker hahaha. so i guess that just goes to show you, even if you do care about the notes it is hard to predict how many a set is going to get. so i try to remind myself to just enjoy the process :)

oh man there were a looot of new groups but the big ones would be skz and txt (it truly does not feel like i joined those fandoms only last year in 2022). also nine.i !! some other groups too like n.flying, xdh, oneus, though i haven't made any sets for those. i also started to learn tbz and mx, and learned ateez and p1h names by osmosis thanks to siyuan lmao so you can thank her for the fact that i have now listed 9 new groups even though the question only asked for one

🚲 : Does your OC enjoy playing the field? Or are they more monogamy-minded?

i feel like he leans slightly more towards one-to-one relationships more than anything else, although depending on the person he can be open to trying something new—monoflexible, is it? i'd say it might be the partial fear of abandonment, but this is some of the reason it usually takes him forever to get over break-ups (despite the fact that most of them have ended well) and is also why he's mainly been on and off with his uh, how should i put it, current situation. (not 'situation' as in derogatory, just 'situation' as it's way more complicated than the FWB that they started out with in the first place and we haven't figured out what we're going to do with that yet)

there's also a situation going on with his ex-boyfriend (*cough* Sun-wook *cough*) but those two have had that going on for at least five or six years by now, it's once a year, mutual and they know what they're doing—if the two of them could tell me what that is, of course, rather than filling my brain with plot rot about the much more unstable pairing on Ha-sang's end (which might be revealed. if i haven't given it away in the tags of some of my inspo reblogs yet rip), it would be much appreciated

Abhi is going to hold your hand. he is going to hold your f*cking hand and probably be the clingiest partner you've ever had but it's fine!!! they're holding your hand bc they need to make sure it's big enough for theirs and also the 56 different shopping bags/luggage/various containers they're going to make you carry after that mall date. you have two hands tho don't worry you should be able to handle it

the amount of gifsets i have in the drafts of this man's FC just going at it istg—it's embarrassing. completely embarrassing i am being outed as simping over my own sim. (they will post. eventually, but not yet since i do not want to scandalize the viewers) the common thread in all of them is that he usually goes in first, and then pulls back to look at the other person and then it's right back in again. just. that is hot to me

and tongue!!! Ha-sang will usually ask first before he goes ahead with it since he's very gentle and reserved most of the time (and bc consent is sexy kids!) but when things get heated out comes the tongue. it's a war scene you're going to lose at least one piece of clothing that you will never get back bc it ended up under the sofa or some sh*t like that—if he kisses a line all the way up your jawline you are done for. finished. the end of Solomon Grundy as we like to say in the Caribbean. tell your driver you're not going home tonight if it's right from your collarbone up the curve of your neck i doubt you're making it to the bedroom. God forbid we get any of this started in the car tho it is highly unlikely

I remember you being a Jensen fan who saw John as a bad father and agreeing with a lot of your posts. I was wondering what you think about Jensen's comments on the podcast that John was not a bad or abusive father during the show and the idea that he takes offense to opinions along those lines. I get that he has a show to sell but I don't know how I feel about him defending John's parenting and taking aim at fans for reacting to what was portrayed onscreen since the beginning of the show. 1/2

I think focusing on the idea that John was once a good man, before he turned into the revenge obssessed person he was shown to be during the show, would have been the better direction to go in to promote the show and sell the character. 2/2

okay so i'm going to start this answer off with an apology.

first of all, i'm sorry it took me a few days to get to this. i am forever behind on asks. second of all, i'm preemptively sorry because you took the time to thoughtfully write this out and send it to me and i'm afraid you might not be terribly impressed with my rambling answer. which is...

i just don't care anymore. about any of it. i have zero thoughts about what was said on the podcast. i don't care about what actors say and i barely care about what writers and/or showrunners care. i don't care about validation for my opinions, i don't care about the discourse. i just...don't. weird for me, i know, but it's a new thing i'm trying out lol.

the thing is, i'm just coming off like a month of watching and investing in The Boys and it was...fun. it was so much fun. it was genuinely the best time i have had in fandom in at least a decade. i forgot what it was like to have fun in this space. i forgot that's what fandom is supposed to be. i haven't had an experience like that in so long. i want to hang onto that.

and i've decided this is the energy i want to keep. life is short and long and chaotic and often rather terrible and fandom is supposed to be the place where you go to let go and have fun. not the place where there is constant discourse and dissection and projection and talking things to death and disagreeing with that and sneering over this and taking offense to what this actor said or what that article said or whatever. don't get me wrong, other people can do these things and they're not wrong for choosing their own fandom experience, but i'm tired and i just want to sit here on the bench and feed my birds.

i will 100% slip up. i will. absolutely. i will see something and i will bitch and moan and complain before i can stop myself. there will come a time where i see a particularly rancid take and have an ''actually you're wrong and i'm right and here's why'' moment. but for the most part, i just want to care a little less these days. i want to stop tip toeing around waiting for the next drama. i want to be less bitter. i want to be less unhappy in fandom. i want to write my fic and live in that world i've created. i want to watch these little shows and reblog these gifsets and overall just have fun. i'm here for a good time not a long time. that's my new vibe.

to speak directly to your point, which i have wandered away from and i apologize for that, yes, i think john was abusive. i think he was a shitty father. hate him. i fully believe that. others may not. jdm definitely doesn't. jensen may or may not (honestly kind of hard to tell given how he flip flops, i think it's possible he might just have a bit of a crush on jdm). but they're both entitled to their opinion. it's none of my business. has zero impact on me or how i see things. will this view of john impact the prequel? maybe, but the prequel is either going to work or it isn't. nothing any of us can do about that now. we'll just have to wait and see. watch it if it's good, change the channel if it's not, and go from there.

First of: Thanks for tagging me! I don't make many posts about this Fandom but I have feelings and your blog manages to capture them perfectly.

I had to completely disregard the Season 5/6 people 'cause I haven't watched the seasons but the outcome is similar to what I expected.

I mean, I thought Murphy would win but then I thought how I actually stopped watching when Jasper was gone - even though Murphy is still around - so I guess my priorities betrayed me.

(I will forever love Season One Murphy though even if seeing gifsets of him in Season 5 don't really seem to interest me).

Why did Finn win then? Simply because I've spent a lot of time talking about lesser loved characters with a few friends when I was still watching and Finn Collins had a lot of potential that got ruined by the whole love triangle thing. I mean, Finn as spokesperson for Skaikru instead of Clarke? Would've saved them from a lot of trouble.

(Also a character who could've showed mental illness and recovery but like Jasper, this show has obvious thoughts about 'weak' people).

Echo on the other hand is no surprise at all, even though Octavia has a really interesting story, I just got attached to Echo - which very obviously was a response to people hating her for breathing in the same direction as Clarke and I hate double-standards, whether they're in the show (Murphy) or the Fandom (Echo).

And just because I'm already talking, I have never hated a character as much as Abby. I have hated her the moment she appeared on screen in the first episode and I continued to hate her and I am so glad that after years of having to see her face, I know now that she exists no more. Just a fun fact.

Echo vs. Finn in a last 'man' standing situation: I mean, if it comes to fighting, Echo wins. No doubt. But I feel like both would try to consider a non-violent solution first and not go in for the kill directly.

But if there's no other way? Echo will do what needs to be done.
