Many of you know I losses my mother-in-love to cancer (#fuckcancer) this last Fall. And then I lost my cousin. And then I had to put my cat down. And then my mom had melanoma (able to be fully removed). (From September to present.) Well, I have had trouble grieving. The totality of it is mind numbing. Then take in each part at its core and I don’t know how I am surviving except out of sheer love and will alone. This is my Mama-in-Love. I haven’t cried for her in months. My grief was stuck in a dark place and I couldn’t reach it. It scared me that I was losing her. I recently found a song called “How Will You Remember Me” by @jeremylister and it broken the dam. I’ve been bawling my eyes out while creating this piece. A lot of people claim they don’t get #abstract #art but it’s not something you get. It’s something you #feel. Jeremy was on repeat and all I did was think of her. She was a flawed human, a beautiful soul, fractured and fused together again, a mother and Mamaw, and friend and confidant, one of the most caring souls I’ve known. She was my Mama, my hippy counterpart, patch-worked from life experiences into something bright and beautiful without facing our dark, whatever the circumstance. She gave me a husband and in turn a son. A family of my own. She birthed four beautiful souls literally, and many more figuratively, and she knew her faults. She knew them. She loved as best she could, as hard as she could, to everyone who needed it. And fucking fuck I fucking miss her.
