Now no one gets the apron
This title will make more sense if you read it I SWEAR
Very sad, I'm in the mood for angst today 😛😛 and who doesn't love some Mamabuela. Seriously, it has been a hot MINUTE you know I had to hook y'all up 💪💪💪
Anyway, sadness, mean words that weren't meant to be said. You guys know the drill 🤥
eh ge ie
—————
Isabela and Mirabel tugged at the apron. Their late mothers apron. They were gonna help their abuela in the kitchen, but they both wanted to wear their mothers apron.
"You wore it last time, it's my turn!" Mirabel said, her small hands gripping the blue apron with surprising strength. Isabela, now 14, was pulling it back in her direction.
"You always get to wear it! It's my turn!" Isabela seethed, tugging at the apron. By this point, the commotion had gather some attention from other family members, who peaked into hallway by Julieta's room where they were arguing in front of. Luisa seemed distressed, trting to find ways to break them apart without causing more tension.
"H—Hey, maybe we should calm down, I mean I'm sure you guys can-" Luisa was cut off by Isabela who shot her a look.
"No! She wore it already! I want to wear it this time!" Isabela argued and Miravel stomped her foot, pulling the apron again.
"My gift is closer anyway, that's why I wear it more!" She said. She wasn't really wrong, her gift was essentially Julieta's.
Alma by this point had exited the kitchen and began walking up the stairs. She had knew this was going to happen, it wasn't the first time. Last time Luisa and Mirabel had faught with it. She should've expected it.
"Girls, what is going on?" Alma asked, and the two stopped, though still held the apron, looking towards Alma.
"She won't let me wear the apron this time!" Isabela said, pointing to Mirabel who pouted again.
"It's not like she wanted to wear it anyway! She wasn't even thinking about it until I came out of the room with it!" Mirabel said and Isabela didn't like that answer.
"Give it!" She said yelled, her voice raising and she used her vines to pull back, cacti sprouting in a nearby pot. Mirabel quickly noticed, yanking back. Alma, nor anybody had any time to react before a loud tearing sound ripped through the room. The ribbon that went around the back had tore, now in Mirabel's hands while Isabela held the other, larger part, the two girls having fell to the floor.
There was silence before Isabela stood, her eyes glassy. "Look what you did! You ripped it!"
Mirabel looked offended, stepoing forward. "I ripped it? Your stupid vines pulled too hard!"
Alma decided to finally physically step in. But before she could fully even get a sentence out, Isabela had shoved in finger into Mirabel's chest, not to hurt her, but more out of anger.
"Why do you even care?! You didn't know her!" She screamed and Mirabel blinked. Bruno and Alma had stepped forward at this point, and Dolores took Luisa and Camilo and pulled them back. "You stole her gift!"
"Isabela, that's enough—" Alma had been cut off once more, not that she could formulate any words after Isabela's.
"It's all your fault she's dead anyway! If she wasn't pregnant with you, her and papá would've been able to move out of the way!" Isabela screamed, tears spilling from her eyes.
Casita was quiet. No one spoke a word, and everyone's eyes were on the two girls; mostly Isabela. She finally seemed to process what she said and her hands flew to her mouth and she stepped back, looking at Mirabel, who had begun to cry. Her lip quivered and tears began to spill out of her eyes as Isabela's words hit her like a freight train.
Thunder crashed as Pepa finally processed what her eldest niece said to her youngest and Mirabel threw the ribbon to the ground, running to her room.
"Mirabel, wait, I didn't mean—" Isabela words were drowned out by another crash of thunder and Mirabel's face twisted into one of pure sadness and guilt. Guilt that Isabela had never intended to make Mirabel feel, especially not for their parents death.
"Keep the stupid apron then!" She wailed, slamming the door to her room. There was more silence, aside from the now pouring rain and Isabela's faint crying.
Pepa had quickly taken to running to the other side of the house to Mirabel's room, Luisa and Camilo on her heels. Bruno seemed conflicted, glacing between Isabela and his mamá, Alma, before turning and walking back into his room, clearly in the verge of tears at the reminder of the death of his and Pepa's sister.
Felíx had quickly followed after him, Dolores by his side. That left Alma and Isabela in the hallway, alone. Casita was quiet, not even move a single tile or floorboard. Alma's face was that of disappointment, and maybe even confusion as she looked at Isabela, who was crying, soaking wet from Pepa's storm.
"I...I didn't mean to say that, Abuela, I...I waan't trying to..." Isabela wasn't even focused on the apron anymore, she didn't care. She had hurt Mirabel her youngest sister who was a miracle from God Himself. And she just blamed the death of their parents on her, knowing full well that it wasn't even remotely her fault.
She looked up at Alma, who was just staring at her. Her gaze shifted to Mirabel's room, where loud crying and soft voices could be heard. Alma rubbed her eyes, and Isabela wasn't sure if she was crying or wiping the rain from Pepa's rain away.
"Abuela? Wh—What do I do? I didn't mean to...to say those things, I swear!" Isabela said between her hitched breathing, hiccuping softly. Alma looked up at Isabela, her gaze conflicted, more than Bruno's.
"Just...go to your room, Isabela. We'll talk about this later. It's not a good time for anyone right now," Alma said, her voice low. Isabela opened her mouth to protest, to say she wanted to run into her youngest hermana's room and apologize. But the look in Alma's eyes told her everything, and she quiet nodded.
"Ok Abuela," Isabela said softly, dragging her feet to her room. The door shut quietly and Alma leaned against the railing, doing her best to hold back her tears and control her emotions. She had to. She couldn't break down. Not right now.
—————
OK. Isabela didn’t mean it, I promise she apologizes. She loves Mirabel’s and does not blame her 😭 it’s just one of those moments where you’re arguing and say something you don’t mean.
Everybody was hurt in this situation 🙏

Mama julieta au: Wait…wait…you were FOUR…when you started to take care of Mirabel?
Mama luisa: Yeah I-
Mama Julieta seething with pure unadulterated rage (with some tears) : YOU.WERE.FOUR?!
Mama luisa: Uh…yes?-
Mama Julieta gripping Luisa’s hands tightly and staring her dead in the eye: I swear on my life if you ever need ANYTHING you call me!!!
Mama luisa visibly confused, concerned, but also thankful: Thanks?
(Safe to say she wanted to strangle every adult in Mama Luisa’s family. Her reaction was pretty much the same as everyone else's. They were FLOORED. Luisa started out younger than ALL of them combined when it came to caring for a child.
Papa Agustin and Julieta’s Agustin were absolutely horrified that Luisa’s Agustin let such a thing happen.
Mama isa and Mamalores want to smack their variants across the face for not helping/being a good sister/prima.
Papa Bruno wants to strangle his other self, pepa, and Agustin for not stepping up. He understands that grief is a lot to deal with but come on…BE AN ADULT.
Mamabel, Papatonio, and Pamamilo can only shake their heads in disappointment and help out where they can. But if they ever get to see the adults in Luisa’s world the teen instincts are gonna kick in and they are gonna do some damage.
Mamabuela has beef with all of the adults, specifically her variant, and when she sees them it’s on sight.
But hey, at least Luisa gets to know her mama and a more helpful Agustin in a way? And let’s just say Mama lulu won the mother of the year award that day.)

ARTTT FINALLY...I KNOW YALL BEEN WAITIN...
Mama Isa, just the duo practicing their arts <33 we love a girl who can come up with lyrics on the fly and boy who can play along
My main man❗❗ He's the dead serpent, cause he gangsta like that 🦅🦅 He's actually bigger than Pedro, so that's rad ╰(‵□′)╯
Werewolf AU🔛🔝 Don't worry, new chapter is gonna be up soon, me and anon finished writing it and a I'll be posting it <33 But yeah!! Kinda spoiler, but also not because its on this blog, but Mirabel runs away as Casita falls ಥ_ಥ
DANELL THAT YOU??! jk jk but like. In the Housebroken I'm writing, Mirabel's wings come in after Antonio is born, but before the triplets get to them. And they were too scared to go into to town for help and too scared to get Julieta. Isabela and Dolores planned to get Julieta's food when they took Antonio, but for obvious reasons, had no time. Julieta gets to them soon after tho!!
BUT. In the time she wasn't there. They just had to wait for Mirabel to heal. Her scars kept reopening, and she kept getting sick too, her wounds got infected and she was not feeling good <\\33 literally bed ridden for like two months, poor girl 😭 She got so sick that the older 3 almost went to Julieta, but luckily Mirabel barely recovered. Julieta felt really bad after, and vowed to never let her mama get in the way of her daughters again ٩(•̀▽ •́)ง……
Redraws👹👹 Nothing special. Nothing good tbh. Just redraws. Shout out to you if you can name the aus (≧∇≦)/
Alright that's it guys, BYEEE <33 more content, really just some art asks <33 I would write more and do more art for Housebroken but like. EVERYTHING IS A FRIGGIN SPOILER. LIKE DAWGGGGG

After seeing the latest mamabuela snippet, I decided this family needed some closure.
The family had gathered at the dining table, with Abuela placing the miracle candle in the center, behind a portrait of the two lost Madrigals. It was Mirabel's tenth birthday, the day had been spent celebrating, having a day off of their usual chores, but there was also a somberness in the air, something that came with every birthday. It was also the day Julieta and Agustin had passed on, leaving their three daughters in Abuela's care and two triplets without their third. The pain never truly left Abuela and her two remaining children, the hole in their hearts where Julieta had been could never be filled.
Mirabel was so much like her mother, even inheriting her gift, it was both a blessing and a curse. Pepa and Bruno would occasionally slip up, calling her Julieta or even hermana, only to have their worlds crash down all over again when they remembered it wasn't their sister, of course, she was Julieta's daughter, the miraculous survivor of the tragedy and the last remaining piece of both Julieta and Agustin that seemed to be a constant ray of sunshine and hope to the despairing family. In a bittersweet way, Julieta and Agustin both lived on in Mirabel, in the way she talked and acted, the way her glasses fit on her face, the way she sometimes acted clumsy, it was clear as day to anyone who knew Julieta and Agustin, and it both healed and broke their hearts.
The three of them tried to stay positive, to focus on Mirabel's birthday celebration, but by the end of the day, they were drained. They had pushed down their emotions all day for Mirabel's sake, poor Mirabel knew far too well the bittersweetness of her birthday, they needed her to know they didn't blame her and that she still deserved to celebrate, "you are your parents final gift to us" Abuela had said, "you deserve to be celebrated as the blessing you are." After a long day of partying in the village, Abuela had taken the opportunity to cook dinner, insisting Mirabel shouldn't have to cook on her birthday, but as she set the table, Mirabel took the opportunity to grab the portrait of her parents she kept in her room.
Now that picture was sitting in the center of the table, Abuela had asked why she brought it, "I wanna remember Mami and Papi" she replied, "and I want them to be here on my birthday". That one simple sentence had opened the floodgates, quite literally in Pepa's case, tears were shed amongst the entire family, none more so than Abuela, Bruno, and Pepa. Mirabel could tell the difficult time her family had throughout the day, so she decided she wanted to make the dinner a moment of memorial, where her family could release their emotions and grieve, the family had been hesitant, it was Mirabel's birthday after all, but Mirabel insisted that she'd rather have everyone be openly sad then pretending to be happy.
So here they were, eating at the table amidst tears and hollow laughter as they shared memories of Julieta and Agustin, Mirabel listening with bated breath. The centerpiece of the table setting was the small memorial shrine, hastily set up with the picture, flowers grown by Isabella, who said they were their favorite flowers, and the miracle candle.
"did Papi really get stung by bees?" Mirabel asked her older sister, "yes, he got stung all over and he was all red and puffy" Luisa replied, waving her hands around to emphasize her point, "Abuela said that's how they met and fell in love" Isabella said, "Papa would get hurt all the time and come to Mama's stall for healing food, tia says papa would sometimes hurt himself on purpose just so he could see mama, because he was too nervous to talk to her" Mirabel laughed at her sister's story, Pepa smiled through her tears as the rain poured around her, thankful to Felix for getting her an umbrella.
Bruno was twiddling with his thumbs as he listened to all the familiar stories, he was far too emotional to speak, but his eyes widened as he looked at the miracle candle, which was glowing brighter than usual, and seemed to be getting brighter by the second, "uh, Mami?" Bruno said, Abuela looked towards her son and followed his line of sight to the candle, which was now glowing bright enough to catch the attention of the rest of the family, "what's happening?" Mirabel asked, Abuela stood from her chair and reached towards the candle, the light became even brighter that the family had to cover their eyes. When the light died down, the family opened their eyes, and were met with a miracle.
Standing next to the memorial and the candle were three figures, two men and a woman, emitting the same glow as the candle. The woman had long and dark curly hair tied up in a bun, brown skin around the same shade as Mirabel's, and round chocolate brown eyes, she wore a light blue blouse and teal skirt with leaves embroidered on the hem and neckline and beige flats. The tall, lanky man had his arm over the woman's shoulders, he had short brown hair that was neatly combed and a thin moustache, lighter skin close to the shade of Luisa's, and narrower brown eyes behind round glasses, he wore a three piece suit, consisting of a white collared suit and navy blue vest with matching pants, his lapel held a blooming pink flower and from his brown shoes you could see mismatched socks, one covered in dumbbells and the other covered in colorful embroidery patterns. The second man stood behind the first two, he was roughly the same height as the first man, but not as lanky, he had slightly longer brown hair, tanned skin, a small beard and moustache, and bright brown eyes, he wore a white shirt with beige pants and brown shoes.
The three figures gave loving expressions to the family before them as Abuela stepped forward, trembling like a leaf, "Julieta? Agustin? Pedro?" Abuela asked, her voice cracking as Mirabel stepped forward to stand beside her, staring with tears in her eyes at the three people she had never met before, but recognized from portraits, "Mami? Papi? Abuelo?" Julieta's smile widened as she bent down to her height, tears pricking her own eyes, "we wouldn't miss your birthday Mija" she replied, "never have, never will." Rain poured down from the dark cloud that had engulfed the ceiling as Pepa and Bruno rushed to hug their missing sibling, "Julieta!" The two cried, burying their faces in her shoulders, Mirabel stood in shock as tears streamed down her face, her own sisters standing next to her, also in tears "Papi!" Luisa cried, giving a loud wail as she ran into her father's arms, her sisters soon joining her.
Abuela stood as still as a statue as she stared into the eyes of her late husband, who gave a loving smile in return, "Pedro... But... How?" She asked, Pedro chuckled, "we never left" he explained, "our spirits live on in the magic of the miracle, the magic grows stronger through the love of our family, the love that Mirabel has for you all, and the love you all have given her, has given the magic enough strength to give our spirits form, at least for a little while." Abuela chuckled in disbelief, but smiled, "the miracle truly works in mysterious ways" she sighed, holding Pedro tightly as he kissed her forehead. Julieta guided her siblings to join her husband and daughters, kneeling down to embrace Mirabel, "oh Mija, you've grown up so fast" she said, wiping tears from her eyes, Agustin nodded, "you look so much like your mother" he sighed, Julieta chuckled, "but you have your father's eyesight" she tapped Mirabel's glasses playfully, Mirabel smiled and nodded through her own tears, "yeah, Tia and Tio said so too, I even have Mami's gift" Julieta beamed with pride, "yes you do, I'm so proud of you Mija."
What was expected to be a somber night turned into a night of joy, the three spirits sat at the table with their family, Julieta sat between Pepa and Bruno, Agustin sat with his children, and Casita had pulled up a chair for Pedro at the head of the table right next to Abuela, Julieta had asked about the man she had been on her way to heal when she died, and Pepa thundered with rage as she explained to her sister that his 'emergency' had been a simple cut, Abuelo was in such shock that he stood from his chair, "I am going to haunt that man" he declared, Abuela laughed, though no one objected the idea. As the night went on, Casita clattered it's tiles with joy and the candle burned brighter, not blindingly bright, but brighter then it had been before, the family was reunited.
CLOSUREEEEEE RAHHHHH‼️‼️‼️‼️
This is so cool tho, like frfr. I’m so glad they finally got to see them again after 10 years <\\333 this is so sad but always really cute <333 gotta hand to them, they did show up unexpectedly. And then Mirabel setting up the portrait to begin with???? That. I love that. Foreshadowing, so cool 🥸🥸
MIRABEL HAD THE MOST RADICAL BIRTHDAY MYANNNNNN 🦅🦅
Also Pepa has everything to be mad. And every give a round of applause to Pedro for going to haunt him. That man literally had a paper cut, and then had the audacity to argue for causing the incident. LIKE DAWG. YOU CAUSED IT STOP TRYING TO PUSH ONTO OTHERS (coughcoughBrunocoughcough) TAKE THAT L

MAMABUELA SNIPPET WAHAHAHA 🥸
WHAT IS UPPPPPP
So since I've been missing this au, and a number of others, here's a snippet <33
It's Pepa and Bruno mistaking Mirabel for Julieta again. Lovely amirite 😀
Lea get it
----
It was scary how similar Mirabel was to Julieta. Really scary. Especially when she was in the kitchen. Ever since she got her Mamá's gift 4 years prior, she had only been even more like Julieta in terms of likeness. She was always humming whenever she cooked, just like Julieta. She moved the same, cooked the same foods, she even passed out food the same. Heck, she even developed the same habit Julieta had; whenever she couldn't sleep, she put on her apron, went downstairs and just cooked food for the next day until she felt tired enough to sleep.
And tonight had been one of those nights. She wasn't particularly tired, so she had gotten up in the middle of the night, still in her nightgown, and went downstairs to the kitchen. It was pretty dark, even with a candle, so sewing or embroidery probably wasn't the best option. Especially with her poor eyesight and butterfingers. Casita helped her around, making sure to keep the house quiet, to not wake anyone, especially not Dolores or any of the grandparents.
As Mirabel turned the arepas, she failed to notice two people walk into the kitchen. Both Pepa and Julieta had come downstairs, not for any particular reason. Pepa was coming to get water and Bruno had just happened to run into her coming out of his room to do...whatever it was he did, though he was likely getting food. Both heard soft singing coming from the kitchen as went to investigate to aww who in the world would be up at this hour.
They were surprised to see Julieta Mirabel in the kitchen. She was swaying slightly as she placed more dough onto the hot stone. The fire illuminated the room, making it warm, though it was still pretty dark, since there weren't any other fires lit, aside from the burning wood and the two candle next to the girl on the counter.
Maybe it was because they were still tired or because there wasn't a lot of light in the room. Maybe it was the humming or the (still painful) memory of their passed-on sister. Or maybe it was simply because Mirabel was just that much like Julieta. But Mirabel looked pretty exactly like Julieta. Her back was facing the two remaining siblings, and from that angle, she looked just like her mother. The only difference was that Mirabel was about 2 or 3 inches shorter, and her apron was a bit different. But other than that? She was basically a carbon copy.
"Julieta?" Pepa asked absently, a cloud hovering over her head, threatening to rain. Mirabel seemed to finally realize that she wasn't alone, jumping a bit. Wiping her hands on her apron, she removed her glasses, cleaning them while turning to try and see who was before.
"Hm?" Mirabel hummed, looking behind her.
Pepa and Bruno swore she was Julieta. Swore that she was standing in front of them, just at 9 years old rather than 44. Without her glasses on, she was her mother. Literally. And it hurt to see her like that. And in their sleepy deception, they ran over to Mirabel, Pepa grabbing her shoulders and turning her around completely, Mirabel looking surprised.
"Y-You're back?" Pepa asked, eyes wide, though the girl could sew the fatigue. Mirabel blinked, then gave a sad head shake. Pepa blinked once, then again as Mirabel placed her glasses back on her face. Pepa's face turned a bit red and tears well up in her eyes as she turned, letting Mirabel go, her cloud starting to rain. Bruno was vigorously rubbing his eyes; he wouldn't lie, he mistook the small 9-year-old for his long-gone oldest sister.
Mirabel turned, grabbing two of the finished arepas, and holding them out. Pepa and Bruno looked back and saw the girl holding the food out. "For you," she said holding them out. Both took the arepas and stared at it. Bruno's eyes watered, and he hugged the girl, and she simply placed a hand on her tio's back. Pepa quickly joined, and all three dropped to the floor, the two adults clutching Mirabel. Holding her as if she would disappear if they didn't.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry Mira..." Pepa cried, and Mirabel smiled softly. She knew Pepa was referring to mistaking her for Julieta, but she would pretend it was because of the rain that was soaking the three.
"I don't mind," she said quietly, and both only hug her tighter for that. She really was her mother's clone.
----
I LOB THEM SO MUCH WHAT ヽ(#`Д´)ノ┌┛〃
No but. Fr. I feel so bad for them 😭 All of them, but specifically Bruno and Pepa (and Alma). They were closest, and seeing Mirabel everyday??? Who looks amd acta like Juliet a??? Sobbing screaming crying seething
Not but fr fr. Hope y'all like this <33 this is one of possibly many snippets but. I might not post them all here. I've been thinking of making a one shot book on AO3/, I mean I do have one on Wattpad
Fun fact another idea before this one was Alma angst lol. It was the night of the crash, after everyone had gone to bed. Alma was supposed to finally realize that Agustín and most importantly Juliet a weren't coming back. That she was really gone. That fact was gonna set in and she was just gonna break down while hold lil Mirabel <///3
Here was the art lmao:

Another cart incident❗❗❗
Idk I wanted to write angst for Mamabuela, and what better than to put Mirabel in the same accident that her mother and father were in.
Perfect <333
Les get it
------
The family didn't know how to react when it happened. Not any of the grandparents, not the warm couple, not Bruno and certainly none of the kids. It happened so fast. Too fast. It was a repeat. It looked exactly like that day 11 years ago. It happened in the same square too. Thanl God most of the family was in the plaza at the time, who knows what would've happened of they weren't.
Mirabel was handing out food. Her tia usually was with her along with little Antonio, but she had left for a moment to go help Camilo get some couple off his back---they trying to dump their kid on him, despite Camilo himself barely being 11. Antonio was sitting down next to Mirabel playing with his toys, while Mirabel handed out food to the (seriously) injured.
She hadm't been paying attention, really. Maybe if she had, it wouldn't have happened, but she certainly didn't blame Antonio. Nor did she blame herself or anyone else for it. She had just been too careless, that's all. It was an accident, right?
Antonio had stood up and walked around the stand, something he had been doing simce he learned. Mirabel handed him a buñuelo, and patted his curls, which he enjoyed. What she didn't see was him walking off. She had busy scolding the same blacksmith who always came back with sevetheburns from working a little too close to the fire.
When someone yelled 'Cart!' she hadn't given it a second thought. But when someone yelled something about a small boy in the way she looked down and saw Antonio wasn't there. Doubling back, she saw Antonio waddling towards Pepa, and the woman was sprinting towards him. Other family members were moving in as well but...once Mirabel saw the cart barreling towards him, she realized that Pepa, nor anyone else would make it in time.
Dropping the food in her hand, Mirabel ran towards the toddler. She managed to scoop him up but hadn't been able to move in time. Cradling her body around the boy, the cart slammed into her.
Once the cart hit her, she tightened her grip on Antonio. She felt a stinging pain in her arm but ignored it as she rolled across the dirt. Once she stopped Antonio rolled out of her arms, wailing for Pepa. He didn't really seem worried over his own scrapes and bruise, seeing that he was just pointing at Mirabel, who lay limp on the ground. She had splinters on her arm and part of her leg that the cart hit, and a head injury from when she hit the ground. Red covered the top part of her shirt, and her glasses were cracked.
Immediately, there was screaming. Miravel could vaguely see several family members surrounding her, many of them crying. She muttered something, but none of them probably heard it. Her abuela, tia and tio Bruno had been crying particularly hard; she could heard a mix of her mothers name and her own name. Her fathers' parents looking ditressed beyong what was probably normal, and it looked like her Abuela Hortencia had some of the food from the stand in her hand.
"Mirabel keep your eyes open!" Alma cried, while the others fretted over her. Mirabel blinked for a moment, but she felt tired. She wanted to do what her abuela said but she was so tired.
"Lo siento," Mirabel mumbled, closing her eyes.

Baby Mirabel & Goddess Alma - God au snippet
The young goddess held the little babe in her hands. She was so small, even for regular human babies she’s seen. Little Mira slept soundly in the woman's arms as little sounds came out of her. Now, she truly loved her children and three granddaughters and grandson, but something about this little one made her special.
Mirabel was in a soft silk magenta blanket that was made naturally to give off warmth. Black butterflies were embroidered onto it as well as stitched with light teal lace. Alma had knitted the blanket herself and wrapped it around her small body.
She was born on the exact day her husband was, and was found not too far away from his grave. Under a tree in the graveyard where he used to sit and read or draw, he never found the dead creepy, if anything he saw death as something inevitable. Nothing to be afraid of.
When they were dating, he used to take Alma there when the sun was shining its brightest. And to her shock, it was actually quite peaceful and beautiful there at that time.
That in itself was mind baffling to her, she must’ve been a gift from him. A small little gift for her to cherish and care for as long as she lives.
Do you know what’s funny? She offered the little babe to Julieta and Agustin to care for but for some reason, it didn’t stick. Alma held and cared for her more than both parents combined, even now, when she heard the little one crying she came to her to comfort her.
Don’t get me wrong, the blue couple loved caring for her but Alma was usually in the way too often for them to do much.
Her eldest three granddaughters joke about how Alma was Mirabel’s mama and that Mira was their Tia instead of Isa’s youngest sister. Alma found the jokes a little funny and somewhat true, the older woman had no plan in letting her little Mariposa go. If she had to become a mamabuela to the little nina, so be it.
As Alma sat in the rocking chair she thought about how she would raise the little girl. She would only get the best education, training, and anything else she needed to succeed in this world. Only the best clothes and gifts for her mariposa.
Alma tried to give her neita-hija some magic so she can be a goddess like the rest of her family, but it never stuck. With every potion she made and gave the girl, the magic would never stay in her body.
The potion was fairly simple; A sprinkle of Alma’s magic fused with ambrosia. She gave it to Mira whenever she could but the only thing that stayed was immortality…and barely that. The girl was still mortal and susceptible to injuries…still susceptible to be hurt.
Alma knew so by the faint glow Illiuminating around the girl. Alma's daughters, son, sons-in-law, and grandchildren glowed at full capacity, but Mirabel only glowed faintly.
The older goddess didn’t like that, she hated it. One wrong move and she could get hurt terribly. Her half immortality could help her most of the way but what if she got an injury too severely? What if she was struck in the heart or killed like her husband was?
Knowing that her granddaughter wasn’t able to become a goddess angered her to her very core. But no matter, she would keep trying, even if she was just given half immortality, that would be enough for Alma.
And maybe this was a good thing? She could be a human who learned alongside other gods and maybe, just maybe fought alongside them. Trained alongside them and maybe could become more special than them.
Alma’s mind raced as she thought about these things, not even noticing the little 6-month-old baby in her arms looking up at her in innocent curiosity.
Young Mirabel opened her mouth, and one small word came out-
"Allllmmmma!"
The older goddess snapped out of her thoughts and looked down at her tiny granddaughter in shock.
"wh- what?!" she whispered, soon holding Mirabel closer to her face.
Mirabel, being the smart baby she was, figured her grandmother wanted her to say it again.
"Ammmama? Alllmmmmmma, Abueeeba!" Mira put her tiny hands on the goddess's nose and smiled.
Alma's eyes sparkled with stars as she heard her grand baby say her name.
"You said my name...YOU SAID MY NAME!"
She held the baby girl above her head and cheered in joy. She was so happy and proud of her Nieta!
"Casita, get the camera and the picture book!"

New parent additions to the 'El santuario de los padres au!'
Werewolf Papa Mariano by gamerbearmira
Papa agustin and mama julieta (and agustin) by @toaverse
(you can find the au here)
@yellowcry
-
The new additions sat in the living room with their kids in tow. They were all told the gist of why they're here and the rules. And safe to say...they are disappointed.
Julieta and agustin had all six of their kids playing outside, Agustin had all six of his kids playing outside, and Mariano had Mirabel and Antonio with him.
"Sooo....from what I got from this. All of us became parents by either seeing being forced to, child neglect, or in alma's case, a tragedy?" Papa Mariano asked as he held 10-month-old Antonio in his arms. His Mirabel was playing outside with her other variants and kids.
"Yep" Pamamilo shrugged as he sipped tea. Julieta looked at this Camilo and she gave him a sympathetic look. She couldn't image HER Camilo or any of her children being forced to care for a baby at a young age.
And yet, she saw versions of all her children in the living room who were literally forced to do such a thing. Mamaisa, Mamalores, Mamabel, Papatonio, Mamaluisa, papabruno...ugh. At least Bruno was of age when he took Antonio and Mirabel in. And Alma was at least in her 60's when she had to care for Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabela.
From the stories she heard, all of her cross dimensional children were very young when they took in a family member as their own...too young.
"And my variants are usually if not always the one causing these things to happen, as well as my children" mamabuela balled her fists as she sat on the couch. "Same with you, si?"
Papa Mariano nodded, Papa Agustin nodded, and the other blue couple nodded as well.
mamabuela (alma) deeply sighed and leaned back on the couch, staring up in the ceiling. "Why am I unbearable in every universe?"
"Why do you guys do here?" Papa agustin asked.
"We mostly come here when things are too stressful or when we don't have anyone in our worlds to watch our kids for a moment. Other than that, we usually have fun here" mamaisa explained.
"We sometimes have pajama parties and play games" Mamaluisa said with a smile
"Eat food and watch funny films" Mamalores added
"Gossip about people or just talk about what's happened recently" Papa Bruno also added.
"This is so...sad" Papa Mariano's shoulders slumped as he took in the information, "not the fun parts but...just..y'know"
"yeah but, we try not to think about it too much" Mamabel shrugged and softly smiled.
"So, let's get your rooms and other things situated. After that you can meet the rest of our children" Mamalores led the newcomers upstairs and mamaisa got some lunch ready for them.
Mamabuela sighed as she took everything in...'why does this keep happening?' she thought to herself
-
All of it is so sad and common it's comical almost.

Au of mamabuela it starts out the same, but a boiler died in the cart accident as well leaving Pepa and Bruno scared grieving and angry they and Félix do their best to take care of the kids, but they’re angry about their sister mother and brother in laws death and start ruling Encanto with an iron fist
NAH JIT TRIPPIN...can you blame them though. Like the whole cause them dying is cause of overworking. Like be SO fr. The village is dependent. Cut off that dependency and what do you have? A somewhat healing and happy family and a struggling village <3
But then it wouldn't mamabuela though <\\\3

(SA) Mamabuela Cut Throat AU
"Mira. Come see." Pepa beckoned her sobrina-sister-sobrina closer to get a good look at the new baby.
Mirabel dashed forward with a curious look and made several hand motions.
"His name is Antonio. He's your primito." Pepa said showing the baby to Mirabel who beamed and was allowed to hold the baby, cuddling him and kissing his little head as she mouthed countless hellos and promises to the baby.
She was going to be his best friend, his big sister and his protector.
Mirabel swore that no one would hurt Antonio like they had hurt her.
AYO WHEN DA AU GETS LOVE⁉️⁉️
Anyway I’m sobbing. Pepa really had to double back when she saw Mirabel. And the fact that MirBel promises that she’ll always protect Antonio, breaks my heart 😭😭
