when she finishes explaining, he smiles as he tells her, “when i’m older, maybe if get a boyfriend instead, i won’t make anyone sad! and having a boyfriend would be cool, i think.”

her own heart breaks at the innocent revelation.

and Eddie may go on to not break any hearts other than his mom’s, but he’ll have his broken far more times than he can count.
