I watched Salaar once. Got obssessed with Varadharaja Mannar and consequently Prithviraj sir and man have I been watching aLL his movies nonstop for a month now.

The movies might be in Malyalam and I may have to switch on the subs but I still watched all.

Best part is how great the guy is as an actor and now I feel like I've been fangirling for him my entire life. And the Salaar comes and Varadha's character is such a banger OMG.

Why do people keep spelling Parvati Patil as Pavarti Patil??!

As a proud Indian Hindu, it's like a bucket of cold water poured all over me whenever I see this. In a meta that I really appreciate, one of my favourite fic authors answering questions on tumblrs, on amazing fics. . . the magic completely goes and leaves me staring at the screen wondering why this is happening.

Okay, movie, I get it. British accent isn't really conducive to hearing the pronunciation of Indian names properly. Fine.

But even book enthusiasts keep spelling Parvati like that?? Why??

Parvati is a Hindu goddess, the wife of Shiva, a manifestation of Durga Devi, a goddess who symbolizes battle and destruction and carries a trishula (a three pronged spear).

Pavarti sounds terrible and means nothing (in the Indian languages I have at least a little knowledge of: Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Malyalam).

I also really, really love the contract between this name and Padma - which means lotus, and is something Lord Vishnu carries and symbolizes purity.

Please, for the love of God, spell Parvati properly.

It’s perfectly fine. I love interacting with people here.

I’ve no language preferences actually. I’ll watch films in any language - tamil, hindi, telegu, malyalam, korean, assamese, silent films etc.

I love sci-fi, thriller and comedy.

I’ll watch a film if the summary or the trailer clicks with me or if it is a recommendation from friends and other communities I belong to.

I ignore most of the hyped up, masala, over the top movies and remakes now a days because most of them are just money making and not filmmaking.

Sometimes the movies I watch can be a bit slow and boring too. (as described by my mom)

But I love the movies I watch and I love rewatching them.

However, I wouldn’t watch those cringy, baseless movies which have no meaning and do not contribute anything to filmmaking. In the name of comedy and entertainment they take these fun watchable films and turn them into baseless franchises which are just for money and they don’t interest me.

today my friends and I played dumb charades. Movies was the theme, simple enough. But we're all from different states or we don't watch the same language movies coz we have different mother tongues. I usually don't realize how different we are because we speak in English as a general rule so everyone can understand and English comes easily enough to me that I don't think about it much. But when I was given a Malayalam movie and I had to try really hard to act it out because neither I nor any of my teammates spoke Malayalam it hit me. And it was amazing. Though Idk a single word in Malayalam, we tried our best and now ik a Malyalam movie.
