Ortisei Ch F: Lukas Klein [Q] def. Maks Kasnikowski 6-7(4), 7-6(5), 7-6(6) Match Stats
📸 ATP Challenger Livestream (via website)
Everything boiled down to the pressure points again, yet every set came down to the tie-breaker and what happened inside. Although L. Klein tried to be more offensive through his forehand side, his frequently working volley finishes showed that he had the capability to move forward well when he had the chance, where M. Kasnikowski could pass him from whenever he had the chance. However, staying back might not be the case for M. Kasnikowski, whose shots were error-prone whenever he got pressed from how L. Klein paced his shots. As a result, L. Klein had 8 opportunities to break, but he could only convert 25% of them, while M. Kasnikowski tried his best to maximize his 3 break points with a 66% conversion rate, but it did not materialize further as this match ended up being settled in three tie-breaker sets.
On the other hand, L. Klein slightly stood out from his first serves by 7%, having a 78% winning percentage complemented by his 8 aces, scoring 2 more aces than M. Kasnikowski. Interestingly, second serves became a little trouble spot for L. Klein by only having a 54% winning rate, 7% lower than M. Kasnikowski. This was a result of L. Klein’s 4 double faults, committing it twice more often than M. Kasnikowski’s 2, where the former risked a lot of his second serves, but often paid off when they were followed up by proper rallying.
This marked L. Klein’s first Challenger title of the season, as well as his third career Challenger title after he fell short in last year’s Ortisei Challenger final, becoming the runner-up to Borna Gojo. On the other hand, although M. Kasnikowski’s maiden Challenger title had to wait, he finally re-entered the Top 300 live and even better, outdoing his previous career-high ranking of 290 by the end of the tournament to be 2 lines ahead at 288. This might just be the beginning for M. Kasnikowski, who finally found his form again after another rollercoaster season. Definitely one of many, considering his potential.
I'm a bit late but I've been tagged by @lfg1986-2 and @meraki-yao. Thank you, lovely people, for giving me a chance to talk about me (my favorite subject 🤓) 💜
Part 1:
Last song: Spotify says Lips on you - Maroon 5
Last film: High Strung, sadly 🥶
Currently reading:
Books : A biography of George Villiers and a French novel called Le dit du Mistral by Olivier Mak-Bouchard.
Fanfic : just starting the poem you make of me
Currently watching: a twitch stream on Lethal Company
Currently consuming: there is half a cup of cold black ‘winter granola’ tea to my right.
Currently craving: for old straight white men to do their job and do it correctly. And a rwrb sequel. And 3 to 5 post-canon fics in which Henry is forced to become King and he has to navigate his relationship with Alex at the same time.
Part 2:
1. Were you named after anyone? I don’t think so. I should have been named something else but friends of my parents had a child before I was born and named it that way so they changed their mind for me.
2. When was the last time you cried? Every time Alex and/or Henry is/are even slightly unhappy in a fic these days, so all the fucking time.
3. Do you have kids? I’ve adopted a 22-year-old Timothée Chalamet back in 2018 who has giving me enough headaches since then to feel legitimate to call myself a parent. (No, and I don’t want any).
4. What sports do you play/have you played? I’ve played basketball for 7 years between 7 and 14. And Muggle Quidditch a few times as an adult 🤓
5. Do you use sarcasm? In French, all the time. In English, it’s more delicate.
6. What’s the first thing people notice about you? How terrifying I am.
7. What’s your eye color? Brown
8. Scary movies or happy endings? I still don’t get the point of most scary movies so I’m going to go with happy endings for now (ugh). But one day, I’ll understand scary movies. That the only thing about cinema that remains mysterious to me.
9. Any talents? Being terrifying. I can write. And cook ok.
10. Where were you born? Val-de-Marne, France. (Stayed there less than a week)
11. What are your hobbies? Reading. Writing. Playing video games. Watching people play video games. Watching tennis. Spending too much time on Tumblr.
12. Do you have any pets? My family has a cat who answers to no authority but mine (sometimes)
13. How tall are you? 159cm which apparently means 5’2” (I’m pocket sized)
14. Favorite subject in school? Depends on the year I guess. In middle school/junior high probably Maths, Biology and Sports.
In High School probably Biology but then I kind of dropped it so German class because I was good at it at the time (I forgot everything tho) Literature and the idea of Philosophy.
In college— I took a course where the thing to do was writing profiles and I love it so much it has kind of floated as a possible career for a while. Still does sometimes. I also took a course in a psychology department about social psychology I liked a lot. I had a lot of courses I liked actually but I remember more about the professors than the actual subject.
15. Dream job? A writer living in Paris? Not in Paris actually, but I’m a basic bitch and and writing is like breathing to me.
On June 21st, 2016 was when Z went on her liking spree of tweets straight up calling Trevor a cheater and liar. Trevor had initially posted an IG story saying that she was missing him, Z had answered indirectly and then the fans caught up, started writing the shady tweets and Z liked them (just to unlike the next day). Z was already in Atlanta when this happened. Just before she went to Atlanta, Z went with her parents to Brazil to do a combined shoot/vacation. Kaz initially went with Z to Atlanta (he went with Z to the Maks and Val Atlanta show June 23) but then left. Trevor released the song at the end of July and that was when Z (and Claire) unfollowed him. Deja went to visit Z to Atlanta in August and they left to LA together. Then Z moved into her new house, officially hired Darnell and moved to NYC in September to train for TGS. She reunited with Tom at the end of September when HOCO did a few days of location shooting in NYC. This is the period when most fans think they started dating due to possible anniversary celebrations in the following years. Tom's mom, grandma and brother Harry also came to visit Tom in NYC in this period and there's a pic of Z and Darnell with Tom's mom and grandma when they went to a Cirque du Soleil show
Also we can't forget that the infamous likes of Z stating that she was not a member of Taylor's Squad happened on July 2016, something that swifties still hate Z for
Um, I don't know if I should be scared or impressed. How do you know all of this and with dates? Is there a Zevor timeline somewhere?
As someone who has been trained in jazz I judge the jazz dances pretty hard. If it’s fun and creative I’m willing to be more lenient on actual moves and technique but I really wanna see at least some basic jazz moves. A jazz dance that sticks out to me is Riker and Allison’s. This worked cause Allison is a trained contemporary dancer and Riker had some prior dance experience so he was pulling out jazz turns and axels and actual jazz moves and he did them well. A bad jazz dance that has always stood out to me was Val and Heather’s. Heather can do jazz but Val cannot choreograph jazz. But their jazz dance was during Disney week and Val was trying too hard to be a fun Disney dance. Heather really should’ve been given the opportunity to at least contribute to the choreography for that dance since it’s a style she was good at.
I saw that you corrected yourself in a following message. But just in case anyone else who sees this gets confused, they’re talking about Maks, not Val.
I should probably watch Riker’s jazz again. If I’m remembering correctly, it was a trio dance and reminded me of Corbin’s jazz.
So I rewatched it and it was only similar to Corbin’s because it was a trio with two women and seemed to actually be jazz and not just a DWTS freestyle.
Yeah, Maks should’ve gotten input from Heather (and probably Alan as I’m sure he danced some jazz when he was on SYTYCD).
Chris is the top brain who just wants to party, Mitch is the 15-year-old college wiz kid. Supposedly hard at work on a lab project with a mysterious deadline, they still find time to use their genius to discover new ways to have fun.

Despite both players’ efforts to open their chances, the third set ended up being concluded in another tie-breaker. Initially, it was M. Kasnikowski’s erroneous service game that led to L. Klein’s lead to 4-0, with the gap minimizer starting on the latter’s double fault before the former tried to get more balls in from the forehand side to close the gap more. After holding his service game until 5-4, M. Kasnikowski created his initial point with a forehand passing shot right to the line in response to L. Klein’s preceding volley, only for L. Klein to save them with another working volley to 6-5.
L. Klein proceeded to save the second match point at the cost of M. Kasnikowski’s forehand errors, most of which being executed too wide that resulted in L. Klein’s match point creation to 7-6. Back on serve, M. Kasnikowski’s insufficient backhand response to L. Klein’s preceding shot converted the Slovak’s match point, where L. Klein ended up taking the third set 7-6(6), ultimately winning him his first Challenger title of the year and his third career Challenger title.
I know you're not Val's biggest fan and neither am I, but what do you think about Maks? I feel like he's a better teacher (and dancer), but I also know next to nothing of the BTS drama taking place?
I don’t really like Maks either. I agree, I think he is a better dancer / choreographer/ teacher than Val, but Maks’ attitude 😬
There have been a lot of stories about tension and fighting between him and his partners throughout the years…the most alarming being he allegedly slapped Hope Solo during a rehersal
So, yeah it’s a no for the Chmerkovskiy brothers from me 👎🏻
