"What makes Edmonton A City of Champions?"

Pretty impressive day for #Edmonton's professional sports teams. First you had the official announcements that the 2018 CFL Grey Cup will come to town. Bringing an estimated 80 million dollars of economic impact into the city as the almost one week party of activities will happen. And this is Edmonton so you know it will include the whole region. Local charities will also benefit, as always.

Then later that day it was announced that the NHL fans from around the world picked the 1984-1985 Edmonton Oilers as the BEST team of all time. On top of that three other 1980's teams made the top ten; so 4 out of the top 10 NHL teams of all time are Oilers teams! Not too bad. You can bet there will be some extra events planned around that and as always it will generate even more economic impact while benefiting some more local community groups as well. Along with the help of many other good corporate citizens plus the general public and sports fans these two teams help make an impact in Edmonton is so many way helping make the #YegRegion "A City of Champions"

The Edmonton Oilers 1980′s teams makeup four of the top team teams of ALL times. Pretty amazing accomplishment for all in involved building the team and helped put Edmonton on a world stage, the city has never looked back and continues to build a world-class city for all visitors, residence along with metro Edmonton residence, enjoy, work and more.

This is about so much more than sports. I moved to Edmonton nine years ago because of a major motorcycle accident. I was at The Glenrose for months and that place is world-class. I have also experienced a wide variety of the great health care available here. The ‘Champions’ that I have found here include help crossing the road or doors being held open for me. I have been offered lunch by a restaurant manager to a restaurant that I have been at a few times and I have also been offered to sit down and my coffee at a Tim Hortons was brought to my table after I sat by another customer. Champions do not have to be sports-related. Edmonton is a GREAT CITY with all kinds of Champions!
