Makech is a beetle that some people in the Yucatan Peninsula wear as jewelry (or sell to tourists). Wearers would glue rhinestones to their shells and a piece of metal attached to a chain. At the end of the chain was a pin that could be attached to a lapel. As the wearer goes out, the insect crawls around and poops on their shirt.
