Her resistance to this little arrangement could have all been solved if her father had just been a little more forthcoming.

This wasn’t the first time Joseph Pulitzer had asked his daughter to entertain the children of influential benefactors or allies or employees. She’s debated and insulted her way through a veritable hoard of men who felt entitled to her time just because of who their fathers were. This time, Katherine was putting her foot down.

Well, until there were threats made about talking with Katherine’s boss and finding her less and less work.

So Katherine waits outside the Bowery, arms crossed over her chest, making no mistake that she’s not exactly pleased to be there. When a voice - soft and curious - catches her attention, Katherine’s annoyed gaze softens into surprise.

Her father could’ve mentioned his newest employee he wanted Katherine to entertain was a woman.

“Oh. Hello,” Katherine greets, loosening up almost immediately. “I’m Katherine. Just Katherine, please, none of this Miss Pulitzer nonsense. Have you seen the shows here? I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the owner and headliner, she’s absolutely lovely. I hope you’ll enjoy the show.”
