Summary:

Elzar sat on the edge of the bed, brushing dust from its surface with his hand. A faint, reluctant smile tugged at his lips as he recognized the box decorations.

Shells.

He had nearly forgotten about them. He’d stashed that box away the day he was knighted, shoving it under the bed along with all the feelings he hadn’t wanted to face. He’d only opened it once since, after his return from Naboo over a decade ago, and even then, it had quickly found its way back into the shadows beneath his bed. Whether he was treasuring them or hiding them from his heart, he still wasn’t sure.

Elzar finds himself facing a past he had forced himself to forget. A past that merged with the present and smell like salt and regrets.
