at the camp, luke and his group of friends walked amongst themselves as they laughed at the endless and kind of weird jokes one another was telling.

luke was always lucky with making friends but his friends were kind of—not to be rude—on the weird spectrum. he himself couldn’t say he wasn’t weird either.

‘dude, then the next thing—oh shoot, look who’s gotten out of her cabin this morning’ his friend jake, who pointed over to persephone’s cabin.

as luke looked over he saw none other than y/n l/n. daughter of persephone, goddess of spring and nature. persephone was known for her beauty, and her love, her kind mind towards all even when they’ve done bad.

all of persephone’s children seem to have these traits, but y/n? no. she had them more, she had them down to the freckles on her face that seemed to align like the stars of sirius. the most beautiful, brightest star in the sky.

y/n had been at the camp for only a few months, not as long as luke, but the second she stepped foot into that camp was when luke gave himself over to her willingly. but to her, unknowingly.

as crazy as it sounds, luke has never said a word to y/n. the only thing he did do however? was embarrassingly trip over his own foot, slamming down into the earth below her feet as she stopped her movements, he could remember it alarmist like it was ten minutes ago.

as luke walked out of his cabin he saw y/n walking with her sisters as they laughed and talked together, their laughs seemed to drown out and the only noticeable one being y/n’s.

at the moment, luke had the duty of taking his wooden swords to the swordsman practice field.

as the girl—mainly y/n walked their way across from herme’s cabin, luke tried to make himself look more attractive? cool? so he straightened his back, the wooden swords being in one arm as he confidently walked down the steps—just as the girl passed, he tipped over a tree stump that had grew out of the ground.

when he did, was well hades himself rose from the ground and put hell on earth—the swords went flying into the air, one hitting y/n’s sister in her head.

‘oh my!—‘ as luke fell stomach first into the ground he grunted.

‘oh my gosh! are you okay!?’ a soft and worried voice spoke above him. as he looked up he saw a worried face of y/n…the girl he was so desperately trying to impress.

‘i—im fine! i’m okay, sorry! i’m so sorry emma!’ he yelled to the girl as he scurried up to grab the wooden swords. y/n turned to see one laying lot to far behind her so she went to reach, but at the same time like some two-thousands movie cliché, he went to reach for the same one.

his larger hand being on top of y/n’s who looked him into the eyes she smiled warmly while he smiled back, cleaning his throat.

‘again i'm so sorry’ he nervously smiled at y/n who kept her eyes trained on his own. she smiled warmly and shook her head.

‘don’t, it’s okay, it wasn’t your fault’ she calmly told him while placing her hand on his chest. he took a deep breath while they looked each other in their eyes.

as the two of them made their way to were the food was being handed out, luke failed to notice y/n who smiled up at him and called his name softly.

‘luke is that you?’ she smiled. turning around immediately to see y/n smiling up at him he stumbled to turn around to her completely.

‘good, uhh—me and my sisters have small sleepovers almost every night, we’re also doing some get-togethers for the other demigods to join, you can come whenever you like? i already asked mr. dionysus and chiron’s permission. they said it would be a rather good thing for the demi-gods to put their differences aside and get along as a full community’

y/n was always one for having a soft spot for people. even for her own good. but, that’s what luke loved about her. she was always so caring and supportive of everyone aside from the fact they’re all from different gods. that didn’t matter to her.

nodding his head and smiling he agreed to showing up to one of them—‘yeah, yeah i’ll try and make it if i’m not taking care of other things or sleep’ he chuckled a bit at his own joke while y/n did the same.

‘good good, i hope you can. it was really good to talk to you luke, i mean it. i always saw you a couple of times but you were with other people and i didn’t want to interrupt—‘

as she walked away with her plate in hand and her long flowing hair behind her, jake was quick to hit luke with his shoulder.

one thing that was very different from all of her sisters was that her hair seemed to grow ten times the return speed hair takes to grow. she had the length of hair that almost reached her calves. she always liked it long, and luke didn’t want to lie to himself he loved the way it looked on her.

‘ouu! look at you man! get your game on!’ jake make a corny comment making luke look back at him with a shake of his head but a grin on his face.

‘dude she only invited me to some function everyone is going to be at…’

luke only grinned and smiled while he turned around to see y/n eating a bit of her strawberry while looking at him with a small smile.

luke felt his chest tighten and his face grow red and warm. smiling back at her before she turned and he did as well—not before letting his eyes linger on her for a bit longer of course.

later that night, all of the campers made their ways back to their own cabins. luke with his friends and his own sibling in his own cabin.

like had found himself in a predicament. he was trying to decide if the white shirt or the black one would go well with his gray sweats. he wasn’t one for fashion since at the camp everyone wore one thing. but they got lucky and got to pick out some casual clothing away from the orange shirt and regular pants.

‘look at lukey-pookie trying to find a cute date outfit to see his girlfriend!’ one of his siblings called out with a teasing smile on their face. turning to see them he rolled his eyes.

‘no she’s not my girlfriend and i could care less what i wear…’ luke turned back around still trying to decide what shirt.

‘dude wear the black one, chicks did the whole tight back shirt and sweats thing, trust me’ one of his other siblings told him as they sat their doing their hair.

‘really?’

some of the other unclaimed kids nodded in agreement super fast as he hummed to himself and slipped on the black shirt.

‘yeah, you have a very defined jaw and your like jacked’ another spoke while they put on their shoes.

‘yeah we're ready…we’ve been waiting on you for like ten minutes to decide on what shirt to wear…’

‘yeah you literally stood there looking at the wall for a bit. we thought you left us’ they all laughed as luke rolled his eyes.

while him and his group of siblings and some other that he still referred to as siblings, began to walk their way to where the small get-together was being held, they were imminently introduced with a lot of flowers.

more than usual. there was a trail of them leading down some part of the forest along with some small fires that were stuck on torches like the ones back at camp.

‘they persephone kids do know how to set a mood huh?’ one of the siblings spoke as he looked at the different versions of flowers that slowly grew in their wake.

luke couldn’t help but take notice of some of the flowers that he immediately knew were y/n’s. not to be a weirdo or anything but he saw her growing some flowers every now and again and sometimes wore them in her hair or as a flower crown.

smiling slightly as he heard small sounds of laughter and a bit of music he looked up to see the crowd of campers laughing with and down at each other.

as they walked deeper into the green patch of grass that seemed to form a perfect circle that was surrounded by trees with the light of the moon above to shine down on all the people below.

as luke made his way through everyone. some of them gave luke a smile and some gave him hugs, he smiled and hugged his way through and to the small table full of snacks and drinks.

as luke reached the pitcher of juice he poured himself some in his cup and drank it a bit. his eyes still searching for her.

while he did he noticed a small group of what looked like persephone daughters. squinting his eyes as he looked to the very distinctive long hair that belonged to y/n he couldn’t help but take a notice to the very short hair girl that stood next to the daughters.

she wore this cute flowing dress that reached her thighs and had skinny straps.

it wa plain (f/c) which he took a note looked amazing on her. he never really saw her in anything other than shorts and the orange camp shirt. so he took his time to absorb her new look.

as y/n moved her hair out of her face once more she looked up and it seemed the stars aligned. her eyes met his and he hurried to turn around .

tightly closing his eyes as he cursed myself for doing so, he took a shaky break and sip of his drink. unbeknownst to him, y/n walked her way slowly up to luke who’s back was turned to her.

‘luke?’ she spoke. he hurried to turn around and let out a nervous laugh.

‘y/n? oh my—what? that’s crazy, i didn’t expect you to be here at all! that’s insane…’ he closed his eyes once more to collect and mentally punch himself repeatedly in the stomach for what he just said.

‘uhm…yeah of course i’m here! i invited you silly’ she smiled at him while he smile back. hit face growing insanely warm along with the tips of his ears.

‘yeah—yeah i just noticed that…sorry, i’m so sorry i just—‘

‘you wanna go somewhere more quiet?’ she suggested. luke looked into her eyes immediately to see her signature soft look focusing on him.

god, could she be anymore beautiful than this? he thought.

only nodding in response, he let her take the cup from his hand and place it on the table.

‘come on’ she smiled at him once more while slipping her smaller hang into his large warm one.

he took another note at how her hand seemed to fit perfectly into his. his mind going insane as if he were some teenage girl with her first celebrity crush.

he quickly let his heavy hand chase after hers as she turned to him with her hand holding his again, her grip soft and his worried that some monster would come and snatch her away from him.

‘no! no, no not at all! not at all i like it out here, i like how quiet and calm it is. very calm and quiet…very’ he mumbled and stumbled over his words.

he only found himself like this when it comes to y/n and he was okay with that. she laughed softly as this and shook her head while looking at him over his face and chest.

before she could say anything else luke bent his body and face down to press his lips fully onto hers. as the two of them shared a single kiss. he pulled away to look her in the eyes for her to only look at his pink pull lips. placing her hand onto his face and pulling him closer, she smashed her lips onto his once more.

this time, the kiss wasn’t like the last. it was more desperate, full of energy, and all the times he’s thought about her non stop, over and over and over.

her hands found their way to the back of his neck and through his hair while he grunted a bit and placed his hands on her waist.

A really gross mentality I've seen people having abt the recent Birdie situation is fucking gross and insensitive to the situation as a whole

People are spreading around scs of Jack saying the n word back in 2020... Which he already apologized for?? He's already apologized for his slur usage along with his racism and transphobic back in 2020 (along with apologizing for harassing everyone/condoning harassment of them) in his "i'm back" video (check the sections "I sucked in 2020 okay" "my racism + transphobia") and I get people are still mad about the Dragy part but that doesn't discredit the rest of the video and what happened...

But not only that, these people are using scs of JULIAN saying the n word and claiming it's birdie (granted, in some of the scs, Jack IS participating in racism with Jack but once again, this is shit from 2020) along with victimizing Julian, Malachi in ways that are fucking gross and unhealthy

Take, Malachi's recent grooming victim for example... The kid's going around saying he isn't/wasn't being groomed while saying that EVERYTHING MALACHI DID TO THE KID WAS THEIR OWN FAULT ANF ALL OF IT WAS JUST "dumb teenager behaviour" which makes me so fucking sad... They cannot see that the behaviours that Malachi was condoning and/or talking abt with the kid wasn't normal and was, indeed, grooming. What makes it even worse is the fact that these birdie drama people are FEEDING into this mentality with scs of the minor saying "Jack refused to talk to me or Malachi abt this situation and how it wasn't actually bad" (JACK HAS EVERY RIGHT TO IGNORE SOMEONE... I'LL COME BACK TO THIS)

Another thing I noticed are people's REFUSAL to see the bigger picture when it comes to the situations that have involved Jack for the past 8 years... (Referring back to the last anon post I made) I show them evidence that Julian, Malachi and Dragy are a bit shady/are showing really shitty behaviours (Mainly Malachi and Julian) and they say "See!!!! Birdie's bad!!" And decide that all of the evidence of Jack's "victims" making a big deal to get off to drama

Going onto Dragy's shitty behavior in regards to Jack... There are replies from her account STILL UP of her making fun of Jack's vent art abt Synni assaulting him... Which fucking disgusts me, in full honesty... Along with the fact that she responded to yippee's Bluesky thread VICTIMIZING the kid and trying to gaslight them into believing that they're a grooming victim...

Going back to Jack's rights to ignore someone... Yeah, that's a human right. But that's not okay!! He has to listen to his poor victims and air out their message!!!/sarc But then when these people refuse to let drama go and keep on dragging this shit on while making a point that they don't forgive Jack for hurting them (in the ways that he did) and they refuse to forgive him... Suddenly that's fine!! People don't always have to forgive him, you don't have to forgive someone for their actions!!! Let them keep making a fuss!!!!

If you can't tell, the birdie haters have a weird mentality where they're so keen on making Jack look bad that they're willing to ignore the supposed "new victims" they're getting "justice" for while putting the most fucked people on full blast to help them "talk about their experience" and ignore when people call them out for shitty behavior... There's apparently this WHOLE community of people who are digging through EVERY interaction Jack has had with people online to find any minor/ageless account he's interacted with and harassing them to try and get a grooming allegation out of them simply because they either interacted with birdie and/or made art for him and when they grab ALL of these interactions they say shit like "If you're one of the ageless accounts who've interacted with Jack and you come out saying that you're 18+... Sorry, but you're a minor in this situation and Jack has been grooming you" (Fun fact!! These people complain abt 15yo's interacting with Jack's art bcs he's 16+ but they also complain abt a 17yo interacting with his art saying "still a minor")

This has been a whole situation where people who've shown support for Jack in the past or have interacted with him or have made art of him are being harassed to oblivion because they want to get a grooming allegation to happen... Yippee being the first to because he was the one who made the art that got people worked up...

So I have so many hc based on my view of bai he and rp’s I don’t with her over on discord! So ima share some of it (it’s allot so I am mainly talking about the important parts this time)

Bai he used too live with her dad and mother who where not living parents they would often argue and fight and this deeply upset her. She tried cheering them up by making drawings of their family happy together but it didn’t work. It only got worst as time went on and her father would start drinking and getting more angry he would often hit her mother and her and leave nasty marks on her that would hurt for months. Bottles got thrown, hurtful words got yelled and so on. One day both parents had enough and got out of control and hit her hard. The mother disgusted of the child grabbed her and threw her into the alley way while she was unconscious and left her there too root. When she got thrown she hit her head hard giving her some bad type of memory lost. She couldn’t remember who her parents where or anything only thing she could remember was her name. She started living in the streets and she stole some food from pigsty’s noodle shop for food and some clothes from ppl who put them outside for drying. After some time when she got possessed, everything was black LBD had taken her body but she was now trapped inside her own head. Everything was black around her and the so called ground she stood on was also black it looked like a void but filled with souls and fog and coldness. She tried screaming for help but nothing worked and then she heard lbd’s voice she could hear everything that was going on outside her own body. But suddenly blue chains wrapped around her making her unavailable too move. The chains were cold and icy and the ice would give her frost injuries. But when she looked infront of her she would noticed that the once so called void wasn’t just that. She could see through ‘her’ eyes. She could see what lbd was seeing and what she was doing too her home. Her city! And that’s when she saw all the suffering.. she couldn’t bare it and tried screaming and fighting for control but ofc.. it didn’t work. When she saw macaque for the first time she knew what lbd was going too do but she didn’t expect too see the flashback of him and Wukong fighting and everything lbd reminded him off… she felt bad for him and wanted too help more then ever but had given up on hope.. she knew that not even the monkey kid or his friends would save her… no one even realized that she was possessed… during the time where mk meet lbd for the ‘first’ time lbd let bai he be in control for only few seconds too get mk too fall for her plan. Bai he didn’t know it and sat down curled up into the sewer wall and cried and when she saw mk she felt scared.. she thought he was gonna hurt her like everyone else died hate her. But he didn’t- when she tried reaching for his hand she. Lost control again and lbd took over. Too finish her plan. Tricking mk all along while bai he was left with the guilt. All the cracks that lbd got during her control over bai he body would be permanent on bai he after the possession. The only way for her too cover them is with makeup or bandages since she can’t use glamour like macaque and Wukong for example bc she isn’t an immortal and she doesn’t have powers. During the fight between lbd and Wukong she felt betrayed and scared she didn’t expect the monkey king himself too try instant try killing her with a second thought but she couldn’t blame him.. she let lbd use her and this was all her fault. She deserves all the pain inflicted on her she thought to herself.. (more info on my hc soon!!)

Its interesting to me how Gojo's english VA rejects or simply doesn't see the subtext StSG has but he's so open about his admiration for GJHm because he apparently pulls the same pranks on his wife like Gojo messes with Uta. And he even went as far as to say "C'mon guys, they're best friends" in regards to people being vocal about StSG relationship.

i’m gonna be honest, i’d rather listen to what the Japanese VAs have to say about anything jjk related (but especially about geto and gojo’s characters and relationship) considering the English Dub’s blunder with toji in season 2.

if u aren’t aware, the English Dub scriptwriters took liberties with a certain translation—in the manga toji says, “oh…i remember now. megumi. the name means blessings. and i’m the one who gave him that name.” meanwhile, the english dub of this scene became, “oh, speaking of blessings. that’s right, i almost forgot. i named my cursed spirit megumi.”

to twist a translation so badly that it takes away from what the actual scene was supposed to portray (toji remembering his son, megumi)—of course, whoever wrote the script is at fault here, not the actual VA, but it makes me doubt their commitment to the story’s authenticity. i’m not sure if this happened bc of lack of research or if they were trying to paint toji in a certain light.

i mean, language is fickle anyway; there’s so much cultural subtext that gets lost in translation and perhaps that could be the case here. but it could also be internalized homophobia, or just blatant homophobia.

i’m a big advocate for shipping whatever u want and respecting ppl’s boundaries! if someone dislikes or is uncomfortable with a ship, then don’t talk to them about it. in a similar line, if u dislike or are uncomfortable with a ship, filter, mute, and block! but to try and pass off ur biases as canon? bc of ur own lived experiences/personal values/trauma? c’mon now. preferences are preferences—none of our ships are canon, anyway (at least for now, but even then, that’s never stopped ppl from shipping characters in a confirmed relationship with other characters—and that’s fine!)

there is some nuance in situations like these, if we really wanna get into the nitty gritty. men can be close friends, sure! but if u bring a woman in to counter someone’s gay ship/hc, then u’re doing it in bad faith and ur obviously biased. queer subtext will almost always be ignored by a straight audience anyway, mainly bc they’re not familiar with it, and they might even be uncomfortable with exploring concepts that don’t fit their worldview.

again, if u a wanna ship gjhm, by all means, go ahead! just don’t be headass about it. don’t deny the possibility of other ships, either—specifically stsg bc that ship alone has more canon “proof” (that’s what they call it) than any other ship with their characters. don’t go and pull dumb excuses or justifications out of ur ass to dismiss other ships (or ship dynamics) bc u’re gonna look stupid. like what u like and don’t go to war with other ppl for liking different things!

(also also, if this VA pulls the type of “pranks” gojo pulled on utahime on his wife, i’m a little concerned. those aren’t pranks. gojo genuinely thought he was better than her in the hidden inventory arc. in gojo’s case, he wasn’t wrong bc he was and still is the pinnacle of jujutsu, so he would’ve called anybody weak regardless of their circumstance—he’s much more tactful about it nowadays, anyway. in the VA’s case? umm…but that’s none of my business.)

Oh my god I have to say that! I just adore your your answer to the "love question" between Griffin and Valtor! It's so it is so accurate and I can totally see it!

I love the way you discribe Valtor being head over heels with her and that he calls Griffin's defection to the enemy a "silly stubborn phase". Because he would totally do that!

And in general everything fits perfectly with both of them! Griffin would totally wait until she says it. Gosh and the fact that he was so confident in himself that he just knew she would never not love him back. That's so him. But also that he knew "their love will last forever". Idk it just touches something in my heart. Because besides his big ego it also means that he sees her as worthy enough, that he trusts her enough to keep her by his side forever. That he sees a future with her. That's just- wow.

I also like the last paragraph. The way Griffin feels kinda vindicated when he talks about what they had/about his feelings after she left. And btw does that mean that some of the CoL members denied that there were real feelings between them? Bc if yes then I would love that even more when that would mean that Valtor literally threw it in their faces.

He just has to be a dick. She may hate him now but he's saving both their image (and maybe getting back at her a little for betraying him because he knows how much his behavior is pissing her off). She will be grateful to him once she comes back to her senses and rejoins him. It's better to go with this than admit that there's a serious rift between them and she might have some genuine reason to prefer working with the people who despise them both over staying with him.

His ego might be a bit too big for anyone's good, really, but he does absolutely include her into his sense of superiority. She is better than anyone else and the only one for him... so of course she'd see it that way too and stay with him forever. The opposite hasn't even crossed his mind. I think that some of the Company members (at first, it was pretty much all of them) cannot handle the implications of Griffin and Valtor's love being real so they prefer to deny/ignore it. Which is, of course, hard to do when Valtor so obviously treats her differently from anyone else but well, if that's the case, it was clearly because she was unhinged enough to match even him somehow. Unfortunately, after she joins them, it becomes clear that that was not the case so they all have to deal with the realizations that maaaaybe they were wrong and the love is real. But that's too much especially in the current circumstances so they (mainly Oritel and Hagen but everyone else also pointedly plays blind to certain things) prefer to not pay it any mind thus giving Valtor absolutely golden opportunities to mess with them. Everything would be so much easier if they just worked their way through their own issues but hey, it's war time. You can't blame them for trying to preserve their energy for the life-or-death stuff. And well, you also can't blame Valtor for being a petty bitch and a brilliant strategist and throwing it in their faces every chance he gets. Griffin certainly finds no fault with his actions.

hey, i'm new to cr fandom and wasn't there when c2 was airing, may i ask out of curiosity what was the fandom's problem with its ending?

i want to start by saying this post is meant as a personal memory and not an incitement of any discourse. i do not want a lot of asks or replies or anything about this if i can help it. i would also politely ask that no one reblog this as i really just. dont want attention about this when ive discussed it to death on twitter. i also apologize for not having screenshots but i truly cannot bring myself to wade through that again. it was bad enough i still have nightmares about it.

basically, about 3 eps before c2's end, matt clarified on twitter the campaign was coming to a close, and that. did not go well. you see, folk (myself included, though i wasnt part of the following clown show) were very sure c2 would continue a while. it felt unfinished as the empire/trent had to be taken down, and for some of us ludinus was clearly the big bad, etc. so this was incredibly jarring to a lot of folk. and with that came anger. a lot of critique came down to fear of things being rushed, a lack of closure, claims of extreme neoliberialism due to not taking down the empire (i could write an essay on and cite multiple leftist activists who have stated c2 is truthful to the activist tale, not neoliberalism, and also how c3 deconstructs beau & caleb's actions, but everyone is allowed to have their own opinion on it), and that if shadowgast did not fuck in this short timespan the fans were going to kill liam & matt. and threats of killing were the least of what ensued. im just gonna put a tw here for discussion of extreme harrassment and even threat of necrophilia/rape:

people were. atrocious. beyond atrocious. know why 4sd/a lot of q&a events of theirs for a while had no fan questions? partially bc fans were frankly terrible at asking non-ship questions on talks machina, but mainly because folk FILLED their inboxes with insults (and a twitter account was made of screenshots bragging about it) that only the crew would get to filter out, not the cast. know why dani was terrified to show her face on 4sd for a bit? c2 fans would not let up on how it was her cishet fault fjorjester happened. people thought the solution to alleged neoliberalism was to therefore @ travis saying they would defile his veteran fathers corpse. if there was any solid discussion critiquing c2 happening, it was so drowned that actors who had nothing to do with the show told cr fans to stay away if that was how they treated their favorite creators wanting a break. it really didnt help that a certain disgraced talks machina host was firing potshots on twitter when the cast seemed to be just trying to take it all in, so more discourse was kicked up from him. in general besides all of that, you had the average death & even a few rape threats you would expect from the pits of fan entitlement. the way they were hardly the most notable of the insults hurled their way still rattles the mind. and thats just what i saw. my friends have claimed to have seen worse, but if we can help it we dont discuss it in detail, it's that bad. like i said, any idea of an actual conversation about c2 and how someone felt about it from an analysis perspective was not even a drop in the bucket; there was no actual discourse but rather spitting hatred pouring over that mistook personal grievances for excuses to mistreat quite literally anyone around them who didnt agree that threatening to defile someone was funny bittersweet revenge.

the thing is, after the c2 finale happened? i mean, a lot of folk didnt originally like it (i think it's generally pretty well liked now, and i enjoy it), but it wrapped up a lot of issues pretty well. all that terror & terrorizing over a fictional story was really for nothing. and even if it had ended undebateably badly did anything warrant that fallout?

there are of course a few other factors that seperate cast from fandom now. laura also got innumerable threats from tlou fans for playing some antagonist character, twitter is a dysfunctional shithole, and it's just rational the more popular you get to not be buddy-buddy with fans. but that was. a Time, for sure. c3 is a decent campaign but im far from the first person to note that many of its traits are set in trying to find vox machina's fixed story beats so no story beat is left "unturned" and being as un-m9-like as possible, even when they love the m9. a lot of the worst m9 fans now who harrass other campaign enjoyers and lament c2 being "an unloved middle child" are folk who never left the bitterness they held in that time. for as much discourse as c3 has kicked up i really dont think any of it compares to the sheer scale of what happened late may 2021, and im hoping with all my heart it never does reach that level ever again (i think c3 has a slightly smaller (at least online) fanbase compared to c2, and isnt marked by a pandemic hiatus, so hopefully that means something).

i hope i answered your question. i really hate remembering this time but sometimes i think it should be remembered so folk know what the cost of extreme parasociality is. the distance the cast has from fans now is not only earned but maybe should have always been there, so things never evolved to that extremity. but now it's done and gone. i envy people who watch cr on their own merits and didn't get sucked into twitter at the time; it has been fascinating watching folk say they love the travelercon/aeor arcs and the ending. rewatching later c2 really emphasizes how many complaints hinged on extremely online & parasocial headspaces - you definitely wont hear anyone nowadays say liam is a biphobic cishet abusing matt by not making caleb kiss essek yet. i hope new fans have a better time than we did. oh - and get off twitter.

Do you have any shoujo manga recommendations? I recently read Sasaki and Miyato and realised that I have been severly missing out!

Sure!! Thanks for asking me!

First, in case you haven't read it yet, Sasaki and Miyano has a spinoff that starts six months before the plot of Sasaki and Miyano called Hirano and Kagiura also by Shou Harusono.

This one focuses on Sasaki's friend, Hirano and his new dormmate, Kagiura. I know Sasaki had extra stories with them but the spinoff gave them an actual story. It currently has about 23 chapters and a light novel with the light novel being the first thing that happens chronologically. No anime for it as far as I know. The back of the first volume has a timeline of where events fit (this came out when Sasaki was up to Volume 5)

Speaking of novels, Sasaki and Miyano has two novels, one focusing on the characters' first year and one on their second year. I haven't read them yet so I'm not sure what exactly happens in them but if you can, check them out!

Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku by Fujita

This one is really cute! An office worker and otaku named Narumi Momose got dumped by her boyfriend when she got outed as one. Feeling awkward about running into him at work after the bad breakup, she quit her job and got a new one at a different company. This time, she's determined to keep her secret under wraps as to avoid another incident. However, this may prove to be hard when she finds out her childhood friend and fellow otaku Hirotaka Nifuji works at the company and almost outs her on her first day. She meets up with him after work to catch up and when Narumi tells him about her recent breakup, he asks her why not date an otaku. Specifically him. She rejects it at first but when he says he can help her in life, video games and with her booth at Comiket, she agrees.

There are three couples this series focuses on. The second couple knew each other since high school and have been dating for about a decade and work at the company with Narumi and Hirotaka. The third couple is the younger brother of Hirotaka and a gamer who goes to his college. It's a lighthearted comedy about office worker otakus and navigating their relationships. A lot of references to anime, video games, BL, GL, you name it. Like Sasaki, this was a webcomic posted on pixiv so the pacing and layout feel similar, at least to me. There are 11 volumes (6 volumes if you go by the English translation bc they combined two volumes into one for 5 of them and then the last one is by itself). I mainly got into this one bc Hirotaka was aesthetically my type. I remember seeing the first volume cover at kinokuniya when only the Japanese version was out and being like "I need to find out what this series is bc I need to meet him"

Kimi Ni Todoke by Karuho Shiina

This was a series I read when I was in high school. High school freshman Sawako Kuronuma has been feared and misunderstood by her peers all her life due to her appearance. It was so bad that her classmates call her Sadako since she looks like the character from The Ring. She had resigned to her fate of never making a friend until popular boy Kazehaya starts talking to her. The more time he spends talking to her, the more her world opens up and she starts making friends and experience things she hadn't been able to before this point. As they spend more time together, love blossoms between the two characters.

There are 30 volumes and 38 episodes. I read up to volume 18 and then stopped because that was the most recent volume at the time and I kinda forgot about by the time more volumes came out. But that was my fault not the manga because this series is really really cute!! A term I've coined for myself when I read this was whenever Kazehaya and Sawako were being cute together, I'd exclaimed "THESE ADORABLE LITTLE FUCKS!!" because they are so adorable to each other. The friends Sawako makes are really cool and fun in their own right. If you want some really cute, tooth rotting sweetness, I recommend this series.

Princess Jellyfish by Akiko Higashimura

Tsukimi Kurashita is a jellyfish fanatic that lives in Amamizukan, a woman only apartment building that houses other woman with their own fixations. They are considered NEETS and have a strict rule of no men allowed in their living space. Tsukimi's love for jellyfish came from going to a jellyfish aquarium with her mom before she died of an illness when Tsukimi was a kid. She goes to a pet shop regularly to visit a spotted jellyfish she's taken a fancy to that she named Kurara. When she sees that the employees put a moon jellyfish in the same tank, she fears for its life as the moon jellyfish will kill Kurara if not taken care of. However, her fear of talking to normal people lead to a misunderstanding with the employee until a stylish person comes to her rescue and they take Kurara back to Amamizukan. The next morning, Tsukimi finds out the stylish person she brought back to her home is an illegitimate son of a politician and cross-dresser named Kuranosuke Koibuchi.

There are 84 chapters and 11 episodes of this series. I read up to about chapter 74 before stopping for the same reason I did for Kimi Ni Todoke. It's a really fun time. The characters are funny and sweet, the situations are entertaining, it's just a fun o' time. And the art is really pretty!!

Skip and Loafer by Misaki Takamatsu

Mitsumi Iwakura moved from her small town on the outskirt of Ishikawa Prefecture to Tokyo to start high school. However, she gets lost going to school on the first day due to the culture shock and seems at a loss at what to do. That's when she meets Sosuke Shima who was late to school himself and travels with her to school. The series follows Mitsumi as she experiences school life in the city and meets lots of new people and makes friends with Sosuke along for the ride.

There's currently about 59 chapters and 12 episodes of this series. I started reading it when the anime was announced and I had a fun time reading it. I really enjoyed Mitsumi and seeing her learn and broaden her horizons as she goes to school and hang out with Sosuke and everyone else. It's a nice story!

High school student Uenoyama Ritsuka is a guitarist in a instrumental only band with college students Akihiko Kaji and Haruki Nakayama. When going to his usual hiding spot for lunch, he finds Mafuyu Sato sleeping with a guitar with broken strings in his arms. Uenoyama offers to fix it and when he does and plays a note, Sato begs him to teach him how to play. Uenoyama is reluctant but gives in when Sato persists. After spending some time together, Uenoyama finds out that Sato has a beautiful singing voice and invites him to join his band.

There are 9 volumes, 11 episodes and a movie, with another movie on the way. The series focuses on three relationships. The first is the relationship between Uenoyama and Sato, the second between Akihiko and Haruki and the third between Sato's childhood friends Hiiragi and Shizusumi. The art is really pretty and the characters are so good!! I really enjoyed the story a lot! My favorite character is Hiiragi and I can't wait for the next movie to come out because they're gonna cover his story then and I wanna hear him sing!! (Also his seiyuu is Fumiya Imai AKA seiyuu for Akito Shinonome so double reason why I wanna hear it) Also, Imma use this as an excuse to post a page I really wanna see animated bc I can hear it so clearly in my head.

Bloom Into You by Nakatani Nio

Yuu Koito, lover of shoujo manga, always dreamed of being confessed to and experience that heart pounding feeling she sees happen in her books. However, when she's confessed to by a guy in middle school, she feels nothing and rejects him. Now starting high school, she's left confused on what her lack of feeling means. When she sees the student council president Touko Nanami turn down a boy, she asks her for help with her situation. But when Nanami confesses her love to Koito, will she feel that spark she's being hoping for? There's 8 volumes, 13 episodes and 3 light novels starring a side character. I'm up to volume 6 of this one and I'm really enjoying it!! The story is engaging, the charatcers are interesting. I like that Yuu isn't a pushover, she's a bit snarky and doesn't let Touko push her around. And I like how Touko comes off as a competent student council president but she has a more vulnerable side that she only shows Yuu. They pair nicely with each other.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun by Izumi Tsubaki

OK I know you know this one already but this wouldn't be a rec list made by me if I didn't include it. This is my favorite series ever. It's mecore. Me-coded. Me. Second year high schooler Chiyo Sakura finally gets the courage to confess her love to Umetarou Nozaki, a guy in her grade. However, she messes up the confession and says she's his biggest fan instead of "I like you". Nozaki, in response, gives her his autograph and then invites her to his house. She accepts but once they get there, he has her do inking on a manga he makes. Turns out, Nozaki is a manga artist under the pen name Sakiko Yumeno and he's had his eye on Sakura for a while because he wanted to bring her onto his team as an inker. She agrees to join so she can get closer to him.

There's currently 14 volumes, 12 episodes and an OVA split into six 5-mintue parts. This series has me dying of laughter with every chapter. The characters are fun, the story is fun, it's just a fun time! There are three main couples with some side couples and duos that get their own time in the spotlight as well. The main ones are Sakura and Nozaki, Sakura's friend Yuzuki Seo and Nozaki's screentone assistant and first year Hirotaka Wakamatsu, and Nozaki's background artist and third year theater club president Masayuki Hori and "Prince of the Drama Club" Yuu Kashima. Other characters like Mikoto "Mikorin" Mikoshiba, Mayu Nozaki, Yukari Miyako, Ken Miyamae, and Mitsuya Maeno all bring their own brand of fun to the table. This series made me laugh so much I couldn't read it in class to slack off because I'd laugh out loud and disrupt class. I've yet to read another series that made me do that. I cannot recommend this series enough. Please read AND watch it if you have not already. Nozaki is starting to gain awarness. I lose my mind whenever I see it happen. I wanna see it happen. It's been 13 years!

Imma put an honorable mention here because I haven't read or watch it yet but I've heard Horimiya written by HERO and illustrated by Daisuke Hagiwara is really good. I wanted to but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I’m no essay girl but boy could I write an essay about when John B and Sarah momentarily broke up in season 2

There’s something about the way it perfectly demonstrates how doing the right thing can look different. Sometimes, two people are wired differently, and they will react differently to the same situation. (Ward’s ‘death’)

They both had their own valid reasons, obviously Sarah was heartbroken and she needed him, but John B had lost his father too, and for him this was the best possible outcome; the closest he would get to justice. Except he couldn’t be happy about it, because he knew it would hurt Sarah. He was too conflicted to comfort her (which i’m still mad about bc why tf was topper the one holding her when she sobbed 😔😔 i wanted that jarah moment)

Their s2ep7 ‘breakup’ scene afterwards will always make me tear up. His hug from behind where he actually comforts her for a whole 5 seconds is everything, we need more of these moments in s4, please just the simplicity of a hug with no drama interrupting them netflix i beg you 😩🙏 . I need to see them grieve their fathers together and not push each other apart. Anyway,

‘I just thought, of all people, that you would understand what it was like,’ … ‘and i needed you.’

These quotes could be applicable to so many scenarios where things don’t go how you’d expect. She expected him to be there, and he wasn’t. Sometimes you need someone but they can’t be there.

And this hurts even more because she was already grieving. She didn’t need to lose John B too.

I feel like this leads onto the reasons why she went to Topper; he was her only source of comfort. If John B had been there the way Topper was, nothing would’ve happened. It was never her fault that she was left with no other option.

Sooo i just finished Xianyun and Arlechinno’s story quests and wow they are so mom coded (or “Father” coded for Arle). I love their story quests so much. Im not ashamed that to admit that i cried during the cutscene in Xianyun’s story quest where the traveler was dreaming about their twin and teared up during Arlechinno’s own cutscene because it turns out she isnt as bad as i thought she was (which now makes the Lyney oneshot request version of her sooooo wrong 😅).

I kinda regret not doing the past events now because well yk, i missed on so many stories, lore, and free primogems that are no longer to avaliable get anymore. While i was burnt out duirng that time and busy as well, i still kinda wish to get the chance to do it despite the event already gone. Something like where in HSR where certain limited events will still be there for new players to play or for old players to replay to get the rewards they missed during its run time but oh well :/

Speaking of HSR, i hope you will enjoy the story missions you havent played yet. I can assure you, the rest of it is as amazing as the past ones. Also, care to share what you think about Firefly..? :)

Sorry for my late response to this, but yeah, I completely agree that we may have made Arlecchino a little too evil in our past one shots of her, haha... Although, I think we could still keep it to her canon version if we just let the reader live and forget Lyney instead by taking that potion in the story quest. But oh well, I still love the twisted version of her anyways lol.

And I also understand your slight frustration regarding missing past events. I haven't played hsr in a while now, mainly because I also barely found the time for it and also because I simply just don't have the energy for it. But I've probably also missed a ton of content by now, which is really not great either...

Regarding what I think of Firefly, I honestly think she's a very sweet character, which oddly reminds me of a young Kiana, which isn't good for my heart, haha.

yeah i'm not the first to say it but dr c really shouldn't be on there and most of the info surrounding her is just fanon that ppl ran with and mainly originates from an era of mechs fic that went "oh the reason why this cis white man (w no canon sexuality) from texas has a british accent is bc this asian trans lesbian was abusive towards him and trained him to lose his texas accent like a british colonialist" (real example btw. the real reason he sounds british is bc he's played by a british man and you cant honestly expect him to put on a fake texas accent for entire sets. love and light) and saw nothing wrong w it.

we don't have enough information about ivy's backstory for any meaningful conclusions to be drawn regarding it, or the extent to which ivy's brain damage is dr c's fault but it's heavily implied to be unintentional

we have no proof dr c is responsible for the morality switch and it's v likely that it's a leftover of brian's own technology bc dr c canonically used brian's model instead of her own to mechanize him

My Millennial Tree Cookie Headcannons bc why tf not-

• Millennial Tree is bigender and doesn’t mind going by any pronouns (but mainly likes to go by She/Her and He/Him) I got this headcanon from a silly thought where Millennial Tree is just Father Time in the body of Mother Nature, and this thought spiked in my head when I found out he’s a  m a n.

• She likes to go on a morning or nightly stroll throughout the forest. She be singing like a Disney princess while doing so. (as if she isn’t already a Disney princess).

• Can also tame even the most vicious animals.

• Her smile is so gentle and serene, it can calm the most furious storm

• While Millennial Tree might seem nonchalant about anyone threatening him, it doesn’t stop him from protecting the land from anything that may endanger it and gets worried about how the effects of said threat has impacted on the ones she holds dear. He’s especially worried about what DE and Pomegranate did to Wind Archer Cookie when he was Night Raven, because she can imagine the suffering he had to endure and has to reassure Wind Archer that it’s not his fault for letting the darkness consume him.

• Millennial Tree is basically like Oogway from Kung Fu Panda in a way

• She fucking loves Wind Archer dearly and for l i f e andhefeelsthesamethoCOUGH. MT is very appreciative of him as her guardian and protector, but sees him as something more to her than that and cherishes him as her dear friend (being called a “friend” by the Millennial Tree, the very being he is sworn to protect, bewildered Wind Archer at first but felt honored and humbled by the sentiment)

• MT is very fond of Carol Cookie, Mint Choco Cookie and Clover Cookie, along with their music, but is also curious about the kind of music that DJ Cookie makes. MT and DJ Cookie formed an unlikely yet unique friendship over this.

• Speaking of which, due to being foreign to the current period of time, Millennial Tree occasionally messes up figures of speech and has a tendency to use very outdated slang in an attempt to socialize with her fellow Cookies. (Her fellow Cookie friends would find the effort adorable)

• He wished there is something he can do to undo Sea Fairy’s curse, but SF appreciates the thought and insists that this is something she has to fight on her own. MT’s kindness towards her is one of the things that brings warmth to her heart and it’s also one that motivates her to fight her fate.

• She can manipulate the height of her own Cookie form, but her real height is that she’s fucking b i g. Like bigger than any of the dragons’ cookie forms and the OG legend squad (Moonlight, Wind Archer, Sea Fairy and Fire Spirit) had to hold in their laughter at their height differences, much to the dragons’ dismay.

• MT loves to lay in flowerbeds and admire the sky. He sometimes ends up falling asleep and his sleeping position in laying down is messy, looking like he fell from the 7th floor. Wind almost had a heart attack when he thought that he’s dead but MT is actually just sleeping. His snoring is soft tho-

• MT has a one-sided rivalry to Timekeeper and finds the effort in TK being a stronger time user than her kinda concerning bc even though it might not seem like it, MT actually cares for Timekeeper’s well-being. Timekeeperishellagayforherbutshewon’tadmitthat-

• He met Adventurer Cookie in The City of The Millennial Tree by the time where MT’s curse was broken and when Adventurer came to check what the hell was going on as he had heard a big sound in the forest, he saw Millennial Tree. Adventurer basically fell for his beauty and just... asked him so many questions about the city (and abt MT himself ofc). They became friends after this and Adventurer would share his stories from his adventures whenever MT asks him about them out of genuine curiosity.

• The dragons don’t like her. Not one bit. Probably the one thing they all can agree on. They never thought about her serene, warm smile when they saw her. Pitaya definitely didn’t thought about how feisty and bold MT can be, especially when she was made aware of Pitaya’s awakening. Ananas definitely didn’t thought about her consideration and thoughtfulness in protecting the land she calls home. Lotus definitely didn’t thought about her soothing voice that would probably be in tune with their own melody when they’d play their mandolin. Lychee definitely didn’t thought about how fun of a playmate she could be when they saw her playing with the Cookiemals. And Longan definitely didn’t thought about how the mere thought of MT herself brings an abundance of warmth in their chest. Yeah. They all hate her very much.

• Fire Spirit once burned MT’s head branch for fun when he’s out in the forest and didn’t realized that branch belonged to someone. Or rather attached to someone- And that’s how those two met. MT was pretty chill abt the encounter despite his head branch being burnt tho.

• MT explained her meeting with Fire Spirit to Wind Archer and that’s how his tension with him increased, thinking that FS is actually gonna burn MT (which is an accident, at least to Millie).

• Butterflies like to crowd land on his branches and MT finds it adorable.

i guess what i really just wanted to get across in this chap were the complications and nuances of both characters? it’s a bit more obvious with Nat as she is the POV character, and with her what I really wanted to capture was a sort of tentative blossoming, a true desire to make the right plays here, in spite of the terminal self loathing that’s been instilled in her since her childhood. she’s spent so much time with Lottie at this point, she really does trust and care about her, she’s really trying to make this work, trying to let herself be happy, and then her past comes knocking again and sends her into a self destructive tailspin. i plan in the next chapter to be a bit more explicit about what exactly drove nat to her outburst—she didn’t just take what her mom said at face value, bc vera is full of shit and she knows that, but it made her Think about things—but i hope it didn’t seem like it came out of nowhere? i hope it made sense to y’all?

and then with lottie, i was mainly just thinking about how lonely this girl has been her entire life. i don’t see her as a necessarily anxious or self loathing person; she’s got insecurities, but she also just desperately wants to be close to people and doesn’t have a problem wearing her heart on her sleeve with those people that she is close to. and i think she can be self sacrificing to a fault (for example, in canon, when she lets shauna beat the shit out of her for the good of the group) and i channeled that for the last scene, where she’s still hoping that nat will stay even tho nat purposefully said the worst thing she could possibly think of trying to make lottie hate her. like lottie is just so afraid of being alone again, which is rlly sad right!!! idk why i did that to her!!!

ALSO on another note, i think a really vital part of this story is nat’s relationships with all the other girls and i like highlighting those as well. i had a lot of fun with her convo with tai in this chap.
