Mahindra Thar Roxx It Is! Launch Date Revealed!
the official name of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door! The Mahindra Thar Roxx! The brand, along with the Armada had also trademarked the Roxx nameplate for its upcoming SUV. And as we thought it could be called the Armada, Mahindra surprised everyone with its official name
The biggest news for Mahindra fans has to be the launch date of the Mahindra Roxx. So with the official teaser, Mahindra has confirmed that the Roxx SUV will be arriving on 15th of August 2024! Now will the brand launch the Roxx on Independence Day
The design is actually nothing new to us as we have already seen the leaked images. That said, let’s quickly discuss how different it looks from the regular Thar. So upfront, the Thar Roxx gets a different grille and headlamp setup. The lights have the same circular design but get LED DRLs and LED setup on the inside. Below we have new bumpers which house LED fog lamps. The side profile is yet to be revealed completely to judge the length of the SUV. However, we can see a new design for the alloy wheels. Whereas at the rear, the new Mahindra Thar Roxx can be seen with similar short and vertical tail lamps, but with LED treatment.
The interior of the Thar Roxx is yet to be revealed but we do know a few key details. As seen on the spy shots, the Thar Roxx will carry the same design cues for the interior from the current Thar. However, it will be equipped with new features like the 10.25-inch touchscreen system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and the XUV700-like steering wheel. Additionally, it will also get some exclusive features like panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera setup, and more
Powering the new Thar Roxx could be 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines from the ScorpioN. These engines will likely be offered with the 4X4 variants of the Roxx. Whereas the RWD variants will likely be offered with Thar’s 1.5-litre diesel engine. In terms of pricing, the Thar Roxx is expected to be priced between Rs 17 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Mahindra Thar 5 Door – A Powerful Beast under the Hood
Source - Business Upside India
The increasing excitement surrounding the upcoming release of the big Mahindra Thar 5-door, which is hailed as the ideal car for adventure tours, shows that the Mahindra Thar SUV is expanding its door count in an effort to increase its appeal. The legacy that the Thar, which was first presented in 2010, has left behind is well-known to Mahindra aficionados and auto enthusiasts. At launch, the off-road vehicle inspired by a jeep gained popularity quickly because to its durable construction and well-tested design. The public was enthralled with the new car's enormous attractiveness and practicality.
The Mahindra Thar 5 door – What to Expect
To win over enthusiasts who can't help but be drawn in by the seductive retro aesthetic, the 5-door Thar keeps its fundamental design components. The spare wheel situated on the tailgate complements the new car's fixed hard-top body style, which also features rounded headlamps and flared wheel arches. According to the images circulating online, the five-door car would have all new body panels.

The Case for the Jimny 4X2: Expanding the City Appeal-car care service maintenance
The distinction between the Jimny and Thar, emphasizing that they should not be considered direct competitors due to their differing segments, sizes, and engine power. While both vehicles offer off-road capabilities, they cater to distinct customer preferences. However, I believe that the Jimny would greatly benefit from offering a 4x2 drivetrain, unlike the Thar. In this article, we will explore the reasons behind this opinion and delve into how a 3-door Jimny with a 4x2 driveline could enhance its appeal in urban environments. The Thar's 4x2: Expanding the Market: Mahindra's introduction of the Thar 4x2, aimed at customers who desired the lifestyle appeal of the vehicle without the need for off-road capabilities, proved to be a smart move. This variant helped lower the entry price and attracted individuals who primarily used their vehicles for city and weekend drives. However, it also diluted the rugged and hardcore image that the Thar had built over the years. While offering different variations of the Thar is a good strategy, the upcoming 5-door model and its variants are more likely to cater to this market segment effectively. The Impact of Removing 4x4 Capability: As evident from our review, removing the 4x4 drivetrain from the Thar does not necessarily make it more suitable for city or highway driving. In fact, the ride quality becomes bouncier due to the reduced weight, and the steering, albeit lighter, remains too heavy for maneuvering in urban settings. Furthermore, the wider track makes it challenging to navigate through traffic congestion. These observations highlight the importance of considering drivetrain options that truly enhance a vehicle's suitability for specific environments. The Need for a 4x2 Jimny: Given the aforementioned limitations of the Thar without 4x4, it becomes evident that Maruti should offer a 3-door Jimny with a 4x2 driveline in its portfolio. Introducing this variant would not only expand the existing 5-door body style but also present an ideal option for urban driving. The Jimny's compact dimensions, coupled with the light steering, make it highly maneuverable in city traffic. Additionally, the removal of the 4x4 system would reduce weight and friction, improving fuel efficiency. Maruti has previously expressed concerns about the 3-door Jimny being expensive for the Indian market. However, removing the costly 4x4 components would allow for a more affordable price point. Preserving the Jimny's Image: Maruti, primarily known as a "car" manufacturer, may be hesitant to dilute the Jimny's off-road image, as it is their flagship hardcore SUV. While this concern is valid, it is essential to recognize that there are customers who understand the distinction between a 4x2 and a 4x4 variant. The introduction of a 3-door 4x2 Jimny would not only cater to those who appreciate this differentiation but also serve as a valuable product line extension. Such an offering would increase sales volume, benefiting a single product sitting on its own platform, aligning with Maruti Suzuki's philosophy. Conclusion: In conclusion, launching a 4x2, 3-door Jimny would be a strategic move for Maruti Suzuki. While it may face some resistance from die-hard 4x4 fans, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. The addition of a 4x2 driveline expands the Jimny's appeal in urban environments, making it a more suitable choice for city dwellers. Furthermore, it opens up opportunities for increased sales volume, providing a positive impact on the brand's

2020 Mahindra Thar rear may look like this when launched
Check out photos of the Mahindra Thar.
Mahindra is currently working on the next-generation vehicles including the all-new Scorpio, all-new Thar and the all-new Mahindra XUV500. However, there is a lot of interest around the all-new Thar, which is expected to receive some mega changes. The all-new Mahindra Thar has been spotted multiple times testing under a heavy camouflage on the Indian roads.
The upcoming Mahindra Thar will look completely different from the car’s current version. There have been quite a few renderings of the Mahindra Thar in the past but for the first time, here is a rendering image of the rear of the Thar. This image has been made by SRK for IAB and it looks quite realistic. The all-new Thar in the images gets a different body set-up altogether. The image shows the hard rooftop version of the Thar. It should be noted that Mahindra Thar was earlier caught with a removable hard rooftop, which will be a quite interesting feature.
The rear rendered image of the Thar also shows the metallic rear door of the SUV with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. It looks much like the Jeep Wrangler. Also, the bright LED vertically mounted tail lamps are a perfect cross between the retro look and modern features.
The all-new Mahindra Thar will use an all-new platform. It will be a modified version of the Gen3 platform that also underpins the cars like Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra TUV300. The all-new Thar will become much more comfortable than the current Thar, which will ensure that the Thar becomes the choice of many who are looking for a car for daily driving. Currently, most Thar owners do not prefer to keep the Thar as a daily driver because of its ride quality and absence of basic equipment.
The all-new Mahindra is expected to get all-new headlamps with LED DRLs. The Mahindra Thar will continue to offer the wide fenders just like the current version of the Thar. On the inside, the cabin of the Mahindra Thar will also get a lot of modern features including automatic climate control system, touchscreen infotainment, a new instrument cluster, MID, power windows, forward-facing rear seats and more.
The all-new Mahindra Thar will also get an all-new engine. It is currently under development and the engine will get BS6 engine. The same engine will be used by the all-new Scorpio and XUV500 too. The new engine will produce around 140 Bhp, which will be substantially more powerful than the current generation of the Mahindra Thar. Also, there will be an automatic transmission available with the SUV. Off-roading enthusiasts will also get the 4-Low transfer case, which will ensure that the Thar will be capable too.
Mahindra announced the limited edition Thar 700 in the Indian market days back. It will be limited to only 700 units and is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. After the price announcement, new limited edition Thar has been spotted in the showrooms. The pictures come from the 4X4 India group admin Shibu Varghese.
The car was spotted at a Mahindra dealership in Bengaluru. At Rs 40,000 extra, the Mahindra Thar 700 gets a few extra features. This will be the last 700 units of the current-generation Mahindra Thar in the Indian market before the all-new Thar launches in the market early next year. Since the all-new Thar will get a different platform altogether, the on-road behaviour of the vehicle will be quite different than the current Thar.
Nonetheless, the Thar 700 limited edition gets a special decal on the side with the signature of the Mahindra bossman – Anand Mahindra. The Thar 700 comes in two colour options – Aquamarine Blue and Napoli Black. The Thar seen here in the posts is the Aquamarine colour, which is inspired by the Mahindra Marazzo.
Other extra features that will be offered with the Mahindra Thar 700 include a new set of 5-spoke alloy wheels, black finish on the grille, silver finish on the front bumper and leatherette upholstery with Thar logo on the front seats. The Mahindra Thar 700 also gets ABS as standard, which is a major difference when compared to the regular model of the SUV.
There are also no changes done to the dashboard of the SUV. It gets the simple set-up with analogue dials and no infotainment system. Engine-wise, the Thar 700 remained powered by the same 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is also available with the regular versions of the Thar. It generates a maximum power of 105 Bhp and a peak torque of 247 Nm. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.
The Thar 700 only comes in the 4X4 variant and it also gets a low-ratio transfer case standard. The low-ratio transfer case makes the Thar quite capable, which is why it remains one of the most preferred choices of off-roading enthusiasts.
Mahindra is currently testing the all-new Thar on the roads and it has been caught under a heavy camouflage on a number of occasions. The all-new Mahindra Thar gets the Gen3 platform that underpins the likes of Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra TUV300 in the market. However, the platform is expected to get heavily modified to make it even more capable on the off-road tracks.
The all-new Mahindra Thar will also become much more powerful than the current version. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre BS6 diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 140 Bhp. It will also get a low-ratio transfer case as standard.

Welcome to the XUV700 unveil live blog!
Good afternoon, folks. After a long, long wait, today is the day when Mahindra finally takes the wraps off of its much-awaited SUV, the all-new Mahindra XUV700. The unveil is still some time away, but we'll tell you all we know about this new-gen SUV so far, so stay with us as we bring you all the updates LIVE from the event!
Today is the day – the Mahindra XUV700 will finally make its world premiere this afternoon, at 4 pm IST; just a day prior to India’s 75th Independence Day. The XUV700 – which marks a generational shift from the original XUV500 – has been a long time coming, and is set to be launched this festive season as action in the three-row SUV space continues to intensify.
Spy images leaked a few days ago confirmed the Mahindra XUV700 takes from where the last XUV500 left off. It has a similar squared-off grille with vertical chrome highlights and angular LED headlights with a more exaggerated interpretation of the fanged extensions typical of the XUV500. The flush-fitting door handles are a segment-first, and the SUV appears to have 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the angular theme continues at the back with the full LED tail-lights, and the blacked-out pillars create a floating roof effect.
Mahindra has also previously revealed some key details about the Mahindra XUV700's interior and features list, including a fairly clear look at its dashboard. The highlight here is the twin-screen layout, which is quite reminiscent of a modern Mercedes. There’s a fully digital instrument cluster, a bespoke Sony 3D sound system, with the touchscreen unit running a new OS that Mahindra terms ‘AdrenoX’. This system integrates Alexa-based voice commands and drive modes named ‘Zip’, ‘Zap’ and ‘Zoom’ (exclusive to the diesel XUV700).
Already known are other features such as a large panoramic sunroof, driver fatigue alert system, an air filter and personalised safety messages. The XUV700 is also expected to get certain advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
This Mahindra XUV700 will be based on a new monocoque architecture. The SUV is expected to come with the same engines that debuted on the second-gen Mahindra Thar, but in different states of tune: the 2.0-litre Stallion turbo-petrol with approximately 190 hp and around 350 Nm, and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel with close to 190 hp and over 400 Nm of torque. Both engines are likely to come with a choice of a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque-converter automatic. Mahindra has also confirmed an AWD system will be available as an option.
The Mahindra XUV700 will take on the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar. Mahindra XUV700 prices are expected to be in the range of Rs 16 to 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Thar 5-door Images Leaked Online Ahead Of August 15 Debut
The Mahindra Thar 5-door is the next major launch from the Indian automaker. The SUV has been spotted in heavy camouflage multiple times, and recently, new undisguised images of the Thar 5-door have surfaced on the internet, revealing its fascia and side of the SUV for the first time. The extended version of the Thar will make its debut this Independence Day, i.e., on August 15, 2024.
The first noticeable change on the Thar 5-door compared to its 3-door version is the new six-slat grille, divided into two parts. Another new feature is the headlights, which, unlike those on the regular Thar, appear to be LED projector setups and also integrate circular LED DRLs. The positioning of the indicator and fog lamps, however, remains the same as that on the 3-door version of the Thar. We also got a glimpse of the newly designed alloy wheels on the extended Thar, which have also been spotted earlier.
From the profile, the Thar 5-door retains the same boxy design as the regular Thar, however it now looks bigger due to addition of two-doors which have increased its wheelbase. It gets C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and in the image, the ORVM on the Thar 5-door can be seen with a camera, confirming it will feature a 360-degree setup. Additionally, the interior reveals a panoramic sunroof fitted into the roof, with seats covered in beige upholstery.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to go on sale shortly after its debut on August 15, 2024. Mahindra could price it from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
