Interviewing one of the original members of @maharlikatmc was a great honor. Aida Valles DTM was the first Maharlikan and active Toastmaster I’ve ever met. In 2014, I was all nerves at the entrance of Jade Vine Restaurant (Ermita), eager to try attending a Toastmasters meeting, when Ms Aida calmly introduced me to the group like the doting grandmother that she is. Through her subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle prodding and advice, I began to navigate my Toastmasters journey with greater and greater confidence. Largely thanks to her, I gained the courage to take on leadership roles and play gladiator in some speech contests.
