FURTHER Further news

Following on from This and This, we can now safely know that apparently JKR believes that the Naga myth is from Indonesia.

As many others have already pointed out the term Naga/Nagin/Nagini is from Sanskrit and while it spread to Indonesia during the spread of Hinduism and  trade routes and empire building... its Indian in origin, not Indonesian.

Edit: As @magicalmusemun excellently pointed out - please also note that none of the ethnic groups she actually cared to mention are Korean.

Star Trek AU

Thanks to @magicalmusemun for some inspiration :)

Infant Bishop is found in an escape pod, half a lightyear away from his old ship’s debris. He is brought to Earth and put into a group home. Analysis shows some strange anomalies in his genome, but nothing too far fetched; he is 100% human. They keep an eye on him, but nothing ever comes of it. His parentage is a complete mystery.

At age 18, he goes to StarFleet Academy and meets another student there, Dana. They hit it off very quickly and soon have a child together. But when baby Nora suddenly starts demonstrating unnatural strength and intelligence, the doctors determine that one of Bishop’s recent ancestors, likely a parent, must be genetically engineered. The modifications made no significant effects for Bishop, but Nora has inherited most of the enhancements.

Dana is quite alarmed at the thought of an augment daughter and leaves them both; Bishop is deemed enough of an augment to be banned from StarFleet service. He takes a civilian posting on a starbase (plot dependent, but I’ll probably default to DS9) where he can raise Nora comfortably. His specialty is engineering, primarily the study of other races’ technology.
