Friction
by Natalie von Catte
Supergirl’s face flushed, and Lena braced for another booming, self righteous speech about trust or safety or the meaning of teamwork or some such heroic nonsense, but then her voice shattered into a million pieces and tears welled wet in her eyes.
“All I want is for you to be okay.”
A thousand thoughts danced in Lena’s mind. To ask her why, to defy her, to taunt her, to demand what exactly it was that made Lena so damned important that this woman was so intense about her safety one moment and so angry the next.
In the dance of all those thoughts, the more base instinct won out.
Lena grabbed Supergirl by the neck of her suit, just below those delightful collarbones of hers, and used it as a handle to pull herself into a hard, aggressive kiss.
...
After a tense rescue when Supergirl barely makes it in time to save Lena from one of her brother's rampaging death machines, Lena Luthor ends up having a wild night with Supergirl, only to call out Kara's name while in bed with her...

Just some fun snippets from the engagement they deserved (especially as we’re getting to whatever fresh hell the crossover holds). Feel free to consider this a fix-it for…god, really the whole fucking season, but I’m giving them a bridal shower where no homophobic parents are in attendance, some wedding planning, and a bachelorette party featuring a one Lucy Lane
For those who had been asking for proposal fix-its, I already wrote one as well as a short ficlet with Maggie proposing for a change
Chapter Text:
“Don’t forget your bridal bingo cards!” Eliza called out, handing a sheet to each guest who walked through the door, along with a little golf pencil in case they hadn’t come prepared.
“Kill me now, please,” Alex grumbled, throwing an arm around Maggie’s shoulders and pressing a kiss to her forehead. The sound of a camera shutter drew Alex’s attention, and she held up a finger, pointing it threateningly at James. “What did I say about what I could do to you with that camera?”
“Ooh! Anyone who has ‘photos taken despite Alex’s objections,’ that’s a box checked for you!” Kara yelled over the din of the party, grinning as several people pulled out their cards and checked off the box.
“Brutus,” Alex hissed at Kara as she walked by.
“Nope, just your maid of honor.” Before Alex could protest, she found her hands filled with a flute of champagne and a cake pop and decided it wasn’t worth arguing—yet.
“Ladies!” Lucy yelled as she strolled through the door. “I have arrived!”
“Oh thank god,” Maggie deadpanned, “and here I thought we’d never be able to get the party started.”
“Fear not, Eliza and I have been hard at work coming up with the very best bridal shower games for you two.” Dropping her voice so that only Maggie and Alex could hear, she added, “And I’ve got even more in store for your bachelorette party.”
“What? I, uh, thought the maid of honor planned that?” It wasn’t as though Alex was scared by the thought of Lucy running wild with whatever inappropriate thoughts that came into her mind but, no, scratch that, she absolutely was.
“Typically, yes,” Lucy conceded with a dip of her head. “But since your maid of honor is more pastels and pompoms than lace and lingerie, I figured I could lend a hand. Thanks, Kar!”
“Please don’t mention it…ever.” She might be practically invulnerable, but she didn’t need to deal with an annoyed Alex in the kryptonite training room.
Once Lucy made her way over to Eliza, pulling far too many items out of her bag to Eliza’s delight and Alex’s horror, Maggie dragged Alex around the room to greet all their guests. The routine was simple enough, an excited, “Thanks so much for coming!” followed by some congratulations and best wishes and every so often a “secret tip” for keeping their marriage exciting and the romance alive.
“They don’t know that nothing about your life is boring, huh?” Maggie asked, gesturing to the clump of Alex’s aunts, all of whom had some different secret for keeping away boredom.
“They think I work in a federal lab…and really only do the science stuff.” Hearing the sound of a fork being hit against a glass, Alex grimaced. “Think you’ve got any alien friends who could be convinced to stir up a bit of trouble? Get us out of this hell?”
Maggie gestured around the room to where her closest alien friends were all looking beyond excited at the prospect of hearing about a softer side to the hardass DEO agent who had only recently been accepted by most of them. “I think they’re too invested in finding out about you to jeopardize this bridal shower.”
“Welcome to Alex and Maggie’s bridal shower,” Eliza greeted everyone, joined by Lucy in the corner. “We’ve got quite a few games to play today, but I think we’ll start by bringing our brides-to-be up to the hotseat for a round of the pre-newlywed game to find out how well these two know each other!”
“Deep breath, Danvers,” Maggie whispered, grabbing hold of Alex’s hand and dragging her up to the makeshift stage.
“For those of you who didn’t catch that, we had our first use of Danvers, so go ahead and check that on off your bridal bingo card!” Kara yelled, winking at Alex. If she thought she wasn’t going to use her powers to make sure everyone got the full bridal bingo experience, she was sorely mistaken. Though, Kara had to admit, she was fairly upset that none of her checked off tiles were in the same row or column.
Eliza and Lucy took turns reading off questions, while Alex and Maggie scribbled answers on small dry-erase boards. They started with a few easy ones.
Alex’s favorite color was quickly answered—blue—as was Maggie’s—green—followed closely by their favorite ice cream flavors—rocky road for Alex, while Alex made sure to note that Maggie preferred the vegan version of chocolate fudge brownie, accompanied by her own editorial note, “Gross.” With a question about Alex’s favorite animal (dog), anyone with “Gertrude” on their card found that they had another square ticked off.
“Now how did you two meet?”
A few moments later, they both swung their boards around. Alex’s read: “Crime scene. It was my jurisdiction,” while Maggie’s read, “National City Airport. She still thinks it was her jurisdiction.”
“And how did you two get together?” Eliza asked, remembering just how many weeks had gone by from the first phone call where she heard about Maggie to the one where Alex finally told her they were dating.
Maggie and Alex’s boards matched exactly: “We should kiss the girls we want to kiss.”
“Bingo!” Winn yelled, waving his card in the air.
“What do ya got?” Kara asked, plucking the card from his hands as she read them aloud; they’d agreed the full party would get to decide whether or not it was a real win. “Talk of Gertrude? Check. ‘We should kiss the girls we want to kiss’ story? Check. Free space. ‘It was my jurisdiction’? Check.  Eliza being extra af? I don’t know… What do you think?”
“Not a chance,” Lucy yelled back. “We have so many more things planned—you haven’t even gotten the tip of the iceberg.”
“Then it’s ruled, no bingo!” Winn grumbled as he reached out and took his card back from Kara, but soon had his pencil back out as he heard Alex calling Maggie “Sawyer.”
“Alright, who was your last date with before you got together?” Lucy asked, wiggling her eyebrows at the look of concentration on Alex’s face as she scribbled her answer on the board. Once they stopped writing, Lucy called out, “So who was Maggie’s?”
Alex flipped over her board, looking slightly embarrassed about her answer: “That blonde lady who dumped you?”
“Uh, technically…she did have a name, though—Tricia.”
“No points for Alex,” Lucy declared wielding her pen like a judge’s gavel and tapping it against the table as she announced her verdict. “And who was Alex’s last date?”
“Some boring dude” was scratched across Maggie’s board.
“I mean, she’s kinda right. It was Max Lord.”
“Fake dates don’t count!” Kara yelled out. “Go back another two years!”
Alex glared at her sister, but Lucy beat her to the punch in responding: “None of you are right. Although she clearly did not know it, Alex’s actual last date before getting together with Maggie was with me.”
“What?”
“Don’t you remember those post-Myriad drinks?” Alex looked confused, while Maggie cackled loudly.
“Guess I don’t get to take all the credit for her big gay awakening.”
“Maybe we play a new game?” Alex suggested, really not needing the next group of questions to all be about her obliviousness.
Lucy shrugged, but pulled out the list she and Eliza were working from. “Okay, we’ve got the purse game that we adopted to be more inclusive—now it’s, what’s on my person?”
Everyone gathered round as Lucy explained the directions. “I’ll call out an item. You can use your pockets, bag, and coats. Whichever one of you can produce it first gets a prize.” Once everyone realized that the prizes were bottles of wine, the labels replaced with embarrassing photos of Alex and Maggie, they looked significantly more invested in winning. Sensing the temptation for cheating, Lucy motioned for James. “Hoist me up.”
“What?”
“I need to be able to see everyone.” She looked at him like it were the most obvious thing in the world. Finally he gave in, lifting her up to his shoulders where she perched, scanning the crowd to make sure no one was already trying to start off with more than they were allowed. “Alright, we’ll start easy: hand sanitizer.”
One of Alex’s aunts won handily, producing not one, but three small travel-sized containers of Purell. Winn claimed the next bottle for having a tin of mints, and Kara shocked everyone by actually having glitter on her person. They ended the game early when Lucy called weapon and found herself faced with an veritable sea of batons, knives, and guns—of both the human and alien variety—much to the horror of Alex’s family members. “Forgot how many cops and federal agents were here,” Lucy chuckled. “Let’s, uh, holster those weapons, grab some food, and settle in for the next game, why don’t we?”
“Wait! Bingo!” Lena yelled. She might have arrived a bit late, but with Kara’s help she’d more than made up for lost time.
“Let’s see.” Kara scanned the card, only to find it plucked from her hands by Lucy.
“Nope, we need an objective third party.” Lucy looked over the crossed off diagonal line Lena had checks through. “Alright, we definitely had Sawyer used as a nickname. I’m sure I did, in fact, say something inappropriate.”
“So many things,” Maggie laughed.
“Free space, yep. Alex and J’onn having a moment…did anyone else catch that?”
“I did!” Winn yelled, earning himself a light slap on the back of the head from Alex.
“Oh! I have bingo now too!” James yelled, ticking off, “Head slap.”
“Too late, we definitely got guns being drawn, so Lena won!”
“Congratulations, dear,” Eliza said, handing over a bottle with a photo of Alex and Maggie passed out asleep on the floor of the DEO’s conference room after having spent almost 48 hours awake dealing with an ongoing threat.
---
“Do we sit Lena with Kara at the main bridal party table?” Alex asked, biting at the tip of her pencil as she looked at the large seating chart she had in front of her.
“Oh, you mean because she hasn’t formally admitted that they’re banging?”
“Some might have said dating, dear.”
Maggie just shrugged. “Are we putting Vasquez with Lucy?”
“No…why?”
“Well they’re also fucking. So if they don’t get to sit together, it would kind of be a double standard.”
“Wait, what?”
“Danvers, you run in gay lady circles now. You’ve gotta keep up with the gossip.”
“Remind me to bring a notebook to our bachelorette party to record any rumors,” Alex grumbled.
---
“I hereby declare tonight the biggest, gayest bridal shower to ever hit National City!” Lucy yelled, gesturing for Kara to pop the bottle of champagne and formally start their evening.
“I take no responsibility for anything that happens tonight,” Kara added, catching sight of Alex’s apprehensive expression.
“We’ve got some roleplaying games, the naughty almost-newlywed game, and then Kara has something ‘appropriate’”—Lucy looked physically pained by the idea—“with glitter and cell phones.”
Grabbing the bottle of champagne from Kara’s hands, Alex cleared her throat. “As a reminder, the wedding is tomorrow, and the city is to be free of any and all crime tonight and all day tomorrow. You are all to report to your designated stations on time tomorrow morning.”
“She just means show up at the wedding venue!” Maggie called out, wondering when their wedding started to sound like a DEO mission.
“If any of you get too drunk to deal with emergencies for me tonight or to risk being late tomorrow, so help me, I will show up at your home with every non-lethal alien weapon I have and ensure that you regret your actions from now until the rest of eternity. Are we clear?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Lucy saluted, grinning and looking far too pleased with herself. “But fine, yes, I know some of you are on call tonight. Don’t be stupid—take your water shots and just embody that white girl wasted no shame mentality, mkay?” Once everyone had nodded in understanding, Lucy gestured for Maggie and Alex to come take their place in the two large chairs they’d decorated to look like thrones. “We’ll begin with some roleplaying.”
“Luce,” Alex hissed.
“Hush now, you’re not a part of this.”
Alex glanced over at Maggie to see if she had any idea what was happening, but she just shrugged. Procuring a top hat from what seemed like thin air, Lucy made a show of pulling three cards out—two small ones and one larger one. “Lena and, oh hey look, me! And we will be giving our best approximation of the Sanvers morning routine.”
“I’m still not sold on Sanvers as our wedding hashtag,” Maggie interjected.
“Yes, well, we voted and you lost. Time to move on and start tagging your posts properly.”
Maggie rolled her eyes, accepting the flutes of champagne and bowl of popcorn that were handed to them while Lena and Lucy took a shot each and got up in the front of the room, everyone else quieting around them.
With an exaggerated yawn and stretch, Lucy sat up. “Sawyer! Wake up!” she barked, earning a few small chuckles from the crowd.
“I’m not that bad,” Alex grumbled.
“Morning, Danvers,” Lena tried, looking significantly less sure in her role than Lucy. “Um, should we get breakfast?”
“I assume you want something gross and vegan or toasted to charcoal?”
Biting back a snort of laughter, Lena nodded, feeling the warmth of the shot she’d taken slowly spreading and helping to loosen her up a bit. Apparently Lucy was quite the natural. “Yes, dear. But first let’s look through our closets and pick out which of my twenty identical pairs of skinny jeans I should wear today.”
“Good idea, then we can go into our leather jacket room and find one nobody’s seen yet.”
“So glad we order them in bulk!” Alex found herself smiling in spite of herself, and Lena seemed to relax even more when she noticed that the brides-to-be were enjoying themselves as they went about reenacting their morning routine.
“Breakfast sure was great,” Lucy declared loudly. “Wonder what I should do now? Maybe I should call my dearest and most attractive and best friend Lucy…” She pulled out her phone and made a show of looking at it before putting it back in her pocket and glaring at Alex. “No, I’ll wait til it’s a world-ending emergency. Hmm…I guess the only thing left to do for fun besides shooting is fucking.”
For a moment Lena looked like she might bolt, but she finally seemed to give in with a nudge from Lucy. “We should be sure to do it right by the big bay windows when we know Kara’s visiting—make sure that she’s far too scarred to do anything fun all day.” Lena threw an accusatory glare over at Alex and Maggie, who looked appropriately bashful.
“End scene!” Lucy yelled, loudly clapping until everyone else caught on. “Unless we wanted to turn this into an NC-17 version…no? No takers? Not yet? That’s cool.” With a flourish, Lucy reached back into her hat and pulled out three more cards: “Next up will be Winn and Kara, and they’ll be playing Sanvers at the bar.”
After a few moments, Kara and Winn took their places at the front of the room, both of them grinning.
“Who’s whom?” someone yelled out.
“Obviously I’m Alex. I’m taller, duh,” Kara answered, earning a cheer from Alex.
“Hey, Danvers! Come try this whiskey.”
“Oh, my favorite! It’s totally something normal people drink, and isn’t at all purposefully dark and broody.”
“Nope, not at all. I sure like that leather jacket,” Winn complimented, even going so far as to tilt his head to the side to take it in.
“You too. Love that you’re also in skinny jeans and a leather jacket.”
“But it’s not like we’re matching, and my reaction of threatening Winn when he suggested it was so totally appropriate.”
“Threatening Winn is my favorite pastime! Maybe we should play pool? I love how no one else in this bar literally every approaches our table.” Kara shot a glare at Alex, remembering the one time she had tried playing and been shooed away.
“Ah yes, it’ll be fun to act like I could ever have a shot at winning.”
“I heard Maggie won in other ways on that pool table!” Lucy yelled out, cackling at the way Alex rounded on her and the bright pink flush that colored both Winn and Kara’s cheeks.
“End scene!” Lena yelled, figuring neither Kara nor Winn would go anywhere near the topic now that they knew it could all be turned into double entendre.
A short break and a few drinks later, Lucy dragged Alex and Maggie’s chairs up to the front of the room for all the newlywed questions she’d rejected for the family-friendly shower version. “Audience participation is firmly encouraged,” she added with a wink. “We’ll start off easy.” Alex let out a sigh of relief. “When’s the last time you hooked up?”
“Lucy,” Alex hissed. “What happened to starting off easy?”
“This should be straightforward.”
“Traitor.”
Eventually Lucy coaxed Alex into writing something down and got her to move it far enough away from her chest to let Lucy read it aloud: “Today.” She nodded in appreciation before turning to Maggie. “You in agreement?”
Maggie spun her board around: “This afternoon.”
“Extra points for the specificity, Sawyer! We’re gonna get along so well.” Maggie grinned at that. “How long did you wait until you slept together for the first time?”
At least Kara already knew the answer to this one, Alex thought as she spun her board around: “3 weeks.”
“Maggie?”
Biting at her lip, Maggie flipped her board: “2 weeks.”
“Interesting…you both seemed pretty secure in those answers. What exactly did ya do at two weeks?”
Thinking back to what had happened at two weeks, Alex flushed a deep shade of red and clamped her hand over Maggie’s mouth. “Nothing! I misremembered the date!”
Lucy looked like she desperately wanted to push for more information, but she figured she’d wait until after the wedding and get Alex a little closer to drunk before she asked. “Alright, we’ll let it go…for now. Next up, which of each other’s friends do you find most attractive?”
Encouraging the crowd to sell themselves, Lucy cackled as winks were directed at the brides to be and countless kisses blown in their direction. Lucy even played a few bars of music to try to encourage James to take his shirt off. Even if they weren’t together anymore, she could still appreciate the aesthetic.
“Alright, ladies, reveal those answers!”
Alex flipped hers over: “I only have eyes for Maggie.”
“Aww, babe, that’s so sweet.” Maggie leaned over and kissed Alex, earning a chorus of cheers.
“What about you, Maggie? What’d you put?” Lucy yelled, noticing her sliding her board away.
“Oh, uh, same answer!”
“Let’s see.”
“No need!” But Lucy moved fast enough for Maggie to swear she could have been Kryptonian too, snatching the board from her before she could erase her answer. “Oh, Detective, you could have just said so…” she trailed off, fluttering her eyelashes as she spun it around to show the crowd her own name scrawled on the board.
“Fuck off,” Maggie grumbled.
“Only if your fiancée agrees to it too,” Lucy teased, jumping up and back off the stage as she took off, Alex hot on her heels. “This your way of saying yes, Danvers?”

So, I joined my schools basketball team in the beginning of the year, I kinda suck, but that's ok cause I just started. Anyways, could you do something on Alex being captain of her high school/college basketball team and Maggie being so turned on by watching her play. I mean, I'm not saying the captain on my team is hot - and unfortunately straight - I don't know where you got that idea.
Sanvers Basketball College AU (ft. gay disaster Maggie Sawyer)
Basketball’s never been her thing.
She’ll scowl at anyone who dares to suggest it’s a height thing, and Winn still has the bruise on his arm from their horseplay a few weeks ago when he’d made the mistake of saying something along those lines.
But when Kara turns on her puppy eyes and tells Maggie that it’s her big sister’s first game of the season, Maggie can’t say no to the freshman girl who so warmly welcomed Maggie into a loving school community for the first time in her life.
So she tags along, exchanging a knowing grin with Lucy as Kara nervously takes Lena’s hand on one side and James’s on the other, as and Winn babbles along at top speed to Clark, his face getting redder the closer they get to the school’s gym, the closer they get to the crowd slowly forming for this season’s opening game.
She tags along, and she expects to have fun; but because of the company, not because of the game.
That is, until she lays eyes on the captain of the school team, who scans the stands with keen eyes until she find’s Maggie’s and waves and grins and winks.
Maggie blinks and forgets what breathing is. What…
Until she realizes that Kara has jumped out of her seat and is furiously waving back to the team captain.
The team captain with a black sweatband holding back her short, perfect, is-it-isn’t-it red hair, sweat already running in gorgeous rivulets down gorgeous, strong arms, long legs, and…
And Danvers written on the back of her jersey.
Of course she wasn’t winking and waving and grinning at Maggie like that. She was winking and waving and grinning at Kara.
“Kara, that’s… that’s your sister?” Maggie manages to choke out, and Lucy stops laughing with Lena and James to stare intently at her roommate.
“Yeah, team captain, isn’t it great?” Kara beams, too excited to notice Maggie’s shell-shocked eyes and slack jaw.
“Earth to Sawyer. Come in, Sawyer,” Winn leans over Lucy to murmur, and Maggie swats away his teasing hand gently without taking her eyes off of the team captain.
Alex, her name is. Alex.
For the first time, Kara’s amazing big sister – always busy in the lab or at practice – takes a shape in Maggie’s mind as something other than… well, Kara’s big sister.
Maggie gulps.
“We can get Kara to introduce you, you know,” Lucy follows Winn’s lead, but Maggie barely hears her.
Barely hears her, because Alex is calling warmup drills and nodding efficiently when her teammates do well, chiding encouragingly when they don’t. Pumping them up for the game, shooting the ball – perfect, every time, and Maggie has never thought much about the sound a basketball makes when it swishes through the basket, but now the soft, sweet, satisfying sound turns her on beyond comprehension – like the leader she is, at once like she knows all eyes in the gym are on her and like no one’s eyes are on her at all.
Maggie doesn’t remember much of the game, except that she doesn’t speak. She doesn’t cheer. She only claps when Lucy nudges her.
She just stares. She just accepts the soda that James makes her drink, because he knows her mouth must be dry as the desert.
She does dimly register, though, that Alex is more than the team captain, more than her school’s star power forward.
Alex is gritty – she gets slammed to the ground more than once by the opposing team’s massive center, once hitting her chin on the court and coming up bloody. She wipes it away like she barely notices, and when her coach forces her out of the game for a moment, she barely seems to notice her mouth being tended to, her eyes are so fixed on the game, on supporting her teammates.
Alex is clever and creative and focused – she sees things better, faster, than even the best players on the court; sees holes in the defense that no one else can, sees opportunities for her teammates to score that no one believed possible, sees how to rile the crowd with a simple twitch of her lips and toss of her head.
Alex is both selfless and cocky – she might score more than anyone else in the game, but she also has more assists; she sets more picks – or at least, that’s what Maggie thinks Lucy calls them – than anyone else on the team, but she also has a heady way of grinning when she scores that goes straight to Maggie’s core.
Alex comes away with a triple double and Maggie comes away with heat pooling between her legs and trembling hands.
Trembling, because Kara, flushed with her big sister’s victory, is leading her friends down to the locker room exit to wait for Alex after the game, so she can be the first non-teammate to hug her and to inspect her injuries, because Rao knows Alex won’t inspect her own.
Trembling, because when Alex’s eyes – still glistening with victory – meet hers for the first time over Kara’s shoulder, fireworks go off in Maggie’s stomach and everyone else in the multiverse ceases to exist.
Trembling, because Alex moves to shake her hand, and her hands are at once calloused and soft, strong and gentle.
“I’m Alex,” she tells her unnecessarily, and Maggie tries to remember language.
“I know,” is the only thing she comes up with, and she’s never been more grateful for Kara’s cousin Clark.
“Alex, this is Kara’s good friend Maggie. You know, the one who helped her out of that tricky situation at that house party a couple weeks ago.”
Maggie hadn’t known that the intensity in Alex’s eyes could increase, but it does at Clark’s words. Alex’s eyes rake up and down Maggie’s body, quickly, thoroughly.
Their hands are still clasped.
Their friends are silent, watching. Waiting. Hoping.
Alex licks her lips.
Maggie wants to kiss them.
“Well, Maggie, seems like I owe you a thank you. For taking care of my sister.”
“Oh, I um, what are friends for, right, I –”
“Let me take you out tonight. The team’s going out to celebrate the opener, and I uh… I’d love to bring a date. I mean. If you wanted.”
Alex doesn’t hear Maggie’s response over Lucy and Kara’s mutual shrieks, but she doesn’t have to – the answer is shining in Maggie’s eyes.

WoW We're Nerds
AO3: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11244396
Alex… Didn’t have a lot of friends. Between having a “super weird” little sister and being a total nerd whose only sporting activity was surfing (which wasn’t one of her school’s sports) it was difficult to get people to legitimately like her (and not just to use for the answers on the homework). No, Alex’s best (and probably only real) friend was Maggie Sawyer, someone she’d never met in real life before but was still closer to than anyone at school (besides maybe Kara).
They’d met when they were randomly teamed up to run a dungeon while playing WoW and had bonded over the course of several runs when it turned out they’re team members didn’t want to take them seriously because they were girls. (Alex had laughed when they decided to dump them halfway through one of the harder dungeons they were running, leaving them without a tank or a healer for what probably lasted over an hour with the que that night.)
They had kept in contact afterwards, randomly going to where the other one was working on quests to help get through them faster or (on one of the days when Alex was feeling like crap after some kids at school had decided it’d be funny to toss her backpack in the school pool) they had spend the evening tag-teaming higher level Horde players in Legion. (Because it didn’t matter how bad a mood she was in she wasn’t going to be the 110th level jerk who went around attacking newbies.)
That of course escalated into spending hours upon hours running Ashran cause Alex really wanted to get enough honor points to buy the new PvP gear they’d just released with the new expansion and Maggie was happy to tag along for the ride since she apparently “had nothing better to do.”
This in turn led to them exchanging phone numbers and spending hours on the phone just talking. Maggie complaining about her school’s truly terrible lab equipment, “how the hell am I supposed to know in the stuff has dissolved properly? I can’t even see inside the stupid thing there are so many cracks!” and Alex going on about her classmates, “if he ever tries anything like that again I’ll mess him up, no one messes around with my sister’s feelings and gets away with it…”
And that led to… Other things… (You’re dating her Danvers, just say it)… So she totally realized that she’d developed non-platonic feelings for her best friend. Which had led to Alex ignoring her for a week because she didn’t know what to say, until she was suddenly forced to figure it out cause Maggie had called Kara and now her sister was forcing her to actually deal with her problems and… Apparently Maggie is gay… “seriously Danvers? My username is Sapphic-Intentions, I couldn’t make it gayer if I tried.” And has a thing for her… “I’ve only been dropping hints for the last three months.” Which ended with the two of them dating. (Alex wasn’t sure if she was embarrassed or relieved when she told her sister and the younger girl’s response was to shout “finally” and start flying around her room).
And now, after four months of dating she was finally going to get to meet her girlfriend. (Kara had offered many times to fly Alex to Nebraska but she wasn’t sure how she’d have been able to play that one off to her girlfriend without admitting her sister was an alien so she’d been forced to wait until spring break to finally see her). And she was a mixture of ridiculously excited and super nervous
“Are you sure I should wear this? Maybe I should wear something less revealing…” Alex made a move to go back to her closet (not the one she came out of) but Kara quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back before she could stress change again.
“Alex it is hot outside and we live at the beach. Besides a t-shirt and knee length shorts do not really count as revealing clothing. I have seen you wear less than that at your surfing competitions on a regular basis.” Kara pointed out, gesturing rather haphazardly at her outfit. Alex groaned.
“I know… I just don’t want her to think I’m like… Angling for something…” Kara’s eyebrows scrunched together and a crinkle appeared on her forehead.
“What could you be… Angling… For by wearing less clothing?” Alex sputters, remembering that her mom had decided to skip of that particular conversation about human social interactions and she was probably going to need to fill her sister in before someone took advantage of her cluelessness.
“You know what… You’re right, nothing to worry about… We’ll talk about it later… Let’s finish panicking about meeting my girlfriend.” Kara rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around her sister.
“Look, you two have already established a great foundational bond, meeting is not going to change that. The biggest thing you need to worry about is ‘not turning into a big gay mess around her’ as you put it.” Alex sighed and leaned her head against Kara’s shoulder.
“You’re right… Come on let’s get down to the docks before we’re late and she thinks we bailed on her or something.” Alex pulled Kara to her feet and the sisters made their way outside and started walking down the street to where Alex had agreed to meet up with her girlfriend when they made plans for her to come see her.
Alex was practically buzzing the entire walk and Kara teased her, saying it was probably a good thing she wasn’t the one with the ability to fly otherwise she might have floated off. Alex rolled her eyes and sped up slightly in her haste to get to their meeting place, causing Kara to laugh.
Though Alex would never willingly admit it, she froze the second she laid eyes on her girlfriend. And not in the “holy shit I’m really terrified of meeting this girl” kind of way but in the “holy shit I’m really gay and my girlfriend is a total babe” kind of way. Because she’d never really understood the whole hype about finding “cowgirls” attractive, but damn, the other girl was decked out in jeans, a red checkered flannel (very gay), cowgirl boots and a straw hat leaning against her pickup truck and it was really hot. (She knew that Maggie was from Nebraska, it just didn’t occur to her that her super nerdy gamer girlfriend was basically a cowgirl by day.
Thankfully Maggie wasn’t facing her (she was busy looking out at the ocean for what Alex would later realize was for the first time) and didn’t notice her brain short circuiting at the very sight of her, unfortunately Kara was standing right next to her and definitely noticed her sister’s misstep.
“You okay?” Kara whispered quietly into her ear, clearly trying her best to be supportive in a less fangirly fashion.
“Yep… Just… Really fucking gay…” Alex whispered back and Kara simply laughed.
“Yes, you are a ‘gay disaster’ as it were. Now you should probably go and meet her before she notices you just standing here drooling.” Alex slapped Kara’s shoulder (which hurts) and slowly makes her way towards the other girl who had still managed not to notice her and she spends the entire thirty seconds it takes to cross the parking lot mentally coaching herself on what to say so she doesn’t sound like an idiot when she starts talking (or more likely rambling cause she’s a little nervous).
Naturally the first thing she does when she reaches her is trip and fall.
She closes her eyes cause they’re out in public and there’s no way Kara could catch her so she braces herself for the impending crash. Only to hear a squeak and feel a pair of rather muscular arms wrap around her waist and hold her up off the ground.
“Shit, are you… Alex?” Alex recognizes her voice instantly after so many nights of staying up late (but not as late as Maggie) on the phone talking and she feels her face flush bright red as she cracks an eye open to gaze up at her girlfriend.
“Ummm… Hi?” Alex awkwardly waved up at her and watched as her face transformed into a soft, rather amused smile as she gazed down at her. “Sorry I, uh, tripped…”
“I could tell.” Maggie moved one of her arms from around Alex so she could brush the hair out of her face before coming to gently rest her hand over her cheek,
“Am I gonna… Like… Stand up or something?” Alex mumbled, blushing even harder as she realized Maggie still hadn’t pulled her back onto her feet. Maggie smiled even deeper and bit her lip teasingly.
“I don’t know, I kinda like having you in my arms like this.” Maggie winked and Alex just about swooned, her insides turning to mush as she finally wrapped her arms around her neck to help steady herself.
“You… Are not allowed to be as nerdy as I am and still be so smooth… And attractive… That’s not fair… You can’t have it all…” Maggie laughed and pulled Alex onto her feet only to immediately pull her into a lingering hug.
“You forgot I have an equally nerdy, very attractive dork for a girlfriend. That’s definitely a part of it.” Alex turns away, blushing and Maggie reaches up to kiss her on the cheek. “I’m really glad I’m here.”
“I’m really glad you’re here too.” Alex bent down slightly and kissed Maggie on the forehead.
“Okay. I am glad everyone is happy everyone is here but I really need to go home and finish up my homework so can I assume that you aren’t going to kidnap her or inflict any bodily harm to her if I leave her with you?” They both jump when the other person starts talking and Alex realizes that at some point Kara had come over to the truck and was now addressing Maggie, who seemed to take the semi-threatening teenaged in stride.
“Yes Kara, she’s in very good hands.” Maggie winked at her and Alex groaned slightly before burying her face in the other woman’s neck.
“Okay, have a good weekend and I will see you on the Monday, Alex.” Alex smiled at her (thankfully) oblivious sister and waved goodbye as she took off at a normal human speed down the sidewalk.
“Come on Danvers, let’s get over to the hotel. We’ve only got three days til I have to get back and we’re gonna make ‘em count… Starting with running Ashran again cause I need that new two-handed sword they just released.” Alex laughed.
“You’re such a nerd babe.”

You can't say you hadn't see that coming. You're not surprised. You saw the signs maybe even before Kara did.  Hell, even before Maggie and that's saying something. She's your little sister, after all. Your best best friend, your family, your hero. You know Kara like the back of your hand, she always wore her heart on her sleeve, her emotions easily readable through her facial expressions and body language.  And she can't hide the fact that she's completely in love with Lena Luthor. Not anymore. But of course, you already knew that. . "Clark's in National City!" You look up just in time to see Kara sliding inside your lab, her red cape flowing graciously behind her and you try to stifle a laugh when you notice she's trying her best to not start jumping up and down in excitement.  "Yeah, I know, I just saw him outside remember?" You respond with a light chuckle. "And I still think he s-" "Stop talking about my cousin's smell!" Kara quickly cuts you. "He asked me to help him, can you believe that? I'll visit Lena Luthor with him later to see if she had anything to do with the Venture explosion." You frown at that because... well, you don't exactly trust the Luthors. You were there when Lex tried to kill Superman for the last time almost three years ago with the blade made of kryptonite, his war suit making him almost as strong as Clark. Fortunately, the DEO was there and they managed to get him in jail for the rest of his miserable life.  But still, your sister was Supergirl and there was a Luthor in the city. Of course you were worried.  "Just be careful, okay?"  Kara smiled and kissed your cheek. "Always." Then she walked out. Later that evening she texted you saying that apparently Lena was clear, and she had a feeling the young woman was really just looking for a fresh start for herself and her company. Plus, she was really pretty. Agent Danvers [18:46]: And how does that make her innocent?  Lil' Sis [18:47]: It doesn't! It was just a comment, Rao... You only roll your eyes at your sister. . Lena Luthor shot Corben to save your life. So not a villain. Maybe. Kara decided to become a reporter and you're very happy for your sister, because you know she can't be a superhero 24/7, and the whole gang celebrates her first article about the Luthor alien detection device with a special Game Night. "She talked about Lex today." Kara says after you both start to clean her kitchen.  "What?" You raise your eyebrow at Kara from your spot at the sink. "Lena. I went to visit her at her office." You see the way she bites her bottom lip nervously, as if waiting for you to yell at her for going there, but when you don't, she keeps saying, "She was adopted too. She said Lex was such a good brother and now... she looks so lonely." You don't say anything because you don't now what to say. Kara has always taken people's burdens as her own, but this time you realize it hits very close to home. Then she smiles and suprises you with a tight hug. "Thank you for being such a incredible big sister!"  . For the next couple of weeks you don't have too much time to think about Lena Luthor, and about how Kara was right when she said she was very pretty, because you already have too much in your hands trying to get the alien fight club down with another pretty girl.  Wait. You didn't mean that. Detective Maggie Sawyer was insufferable! Completely insufferable... and okay maybe a little pretty, but only a little! You're surprised when Kara says she asked for Lena's help to get the next fight club location, because you still don't know how to feel about Lex's sister. You don't think she's a threat but she's still a Luthor.  But then again, you have all those new feelings inside you and you need to talk with your sister about how lost you are and about how you think you're in lo- And Lena Luthor gets in your way. Again. And... maybe you're not as straight as you think you were, but did you just spot the gay in Lena's eyes as she glared at you? "She's my sister." Kara says and Lena visibly relaxes when she looks back at your sister with soft eyes. You're so silly.  Just because you realized you're a lesbian it doesn't mean every woman you'll meet is too.  After that, you're very glad to hear from Winn that Lena saved everyone's asses (including Kara's) with her field generator. He and Kara keep gushing on and on about how smart and brave and pretty she was in that black dress and you pretend you didn't see the way they blushed after agreeing to that.  You also pretend you're not heartbroken because you didn't get the girl, but that's just life. . You totally get girl. You're here and you're queer and you've never felt so happy in your entire life because you have a girlfriend! A very hot and very badass girlfriend. You walk in Kara's apartment without knocking like you usually do to give her the news, but she's not expecting you like she usually is after hearing your familiar heartbeat from the corner of the street. She's distracted as she types away a text on her phone, giggling when she reads the response. "Kara?" She suddenly looks at you with widen eyes.  "Alex! I didn't hear you coming." She pats the spot beside her and you move to sit there as Kara types something quick in her phone with a small smile, before leaving it on the coffee table. "Who were you texting?" You ask with a smirk because you know your sister and her silly smiles.  "Oh! No one!" She replies too quickly and too loudly for you to believe that. "You're a horrible liar." You say with a chuckle and she blushes. "Was that Mon-El?" You know that not too long ago Kara finally got over James and you're happy they're still good friends. (You're happy you didn't have to punch his face.) You see the way the dexamite keeps staring longingly at your sister and how she sometimes stares back, as if thinking about the possibility that that could be something, that she could have what Clark has. Maybe Mon-El wouldn't be your first choice for someone you'd want your sister to fall for, actually you don't think there's anyone worthy of Kara, your precious innocent baby sister, but you're in love and you want her to have it too.  "What?! No! That's not Mon-El!" Kara says, scrunching up her nose. "Okay..." you bite your lip. "James then?" "What are yo- no! It's not James. It's Lena." Oh.  Unexpected.  "Lena Luthor?" "Yes." She admits. "We traded numbers after the police sent her mother to jail. I wanted to thank her for saving the entire alien population in National City. I mean... I told her Supergirl told me that, because... you know." You nod. You were ready to tell Kara 'I told you' when Lena surprised all of you, including J'onn, by betraying her mother.  She saved hundreds of innocent lives and Kara was the one with a smug smile after everything. "How is she?" "She has been better. She sent her mother to jail, so it wasn't easy, but she told me she's glad no one died because of a Luthor this time."  You notice Kara's very proud of Lena for that, if the smile she's trying to hold back it's any indication, and after everything Lena did for the the past few months, you decide to give her a chance from now on, after all, Kara trusts her. "Anyway, you wanted to talk to me about something?"  You smile. "Guess who got the girl?"  She squeals and wraps you in a hug. . All of the evidences tell Lena's guilty. But Kara is having none of that. You've never seen your sister defend someone so much to the point of going against everyone, punching cement blocks all over the training room.  And that's how you find her. "Kara." She's breathing heavily and you approach her slowly, looking down at her hands closed in fists.  "I don't want to talk right now, Alex." You cross your arms over your chest, but you don't leave. And she's not pushing you away either, so that's something.  "You need to calm down." She smiles bitterly, surprising you, because the last time Kara acted like that she was under the influence of Red-K. "You want me to calm down? Lena is inocent and now she's stuck in a cell all alone because your girlfriend arrested her without even letting her explain and you want me to calm down?!" Kara yells, pointing a finger a you. "Hey!" You yell back. "Maggie was only doing her job, she has nothing to do with it! "She has everything to do with it!" "Kara!" She shakes her head, moving to sit on a bench, elbows on her knees as she rubs her face with her hands.  "She's innocent, I know she is." Kara whispers. You sit next to your sister, trying to calm down too, before wrapping an arm around her shoulders.  "Everything's gonna be fine." But you don't know that. Not when later Kara flies after Lena without even considering Metallo might explode everything around him.  Of course she succeeds and carries and injured Lena in for the DEO doctors to check on her. Through the infirmary's glass you see the way your sister's running her hands carefully through Lena's hair and how she caresses the CEO's cheek with the tips of her fingers, before walking away with a pained expression, probably so Lena couldn't see Supergirl if she woke up. You're not sure why you feel like you're intruding in a very intimate moment.  (In the back of your mind, you know why.) When you visit Kara the next day after reading the amazing article she wrote about Lena being innocent, it feels like you just stepped inside a flower shop.  There are so many flowers. You're very confused when Kara tells you later she kissed Mon-El. .  Game Night was full of tension that week. Kara still refused to share a full sentence with Maggie since the day she arrested Lena, and both of them were too proud to be the one to say sorry first.  Mon-El had been all over Kara and yet, somehow, she didn't seem all that interested anymore. You remember seeing him move to kiss her mouth and she quickly using her superspeed to turn her head and laughing at something Winn had said, the dexamite planting a kiss on her cheek instead. When you're alone in your apartment with Maggie after everyone leaves, you feel your girlfriend poking your ribs to get your attention. "Babe, I have a theory I want to share with you... but brace yourself because it might come as a shock." You frown. "O...kay?" Maggie took a deep breath for the drama effect and you can only smile at your girlfriend's antics. "I think little Danvers has the hots for little Luthor!" She says quickly. You blink. "Oh. That." "What do you mean 'that'? It's a big deal, right? Wait..." Maggie gasps. "You knew already!" "I had a feeling." You confess. "But she's with Mon-El, so... I'm confused." Maggie chuckles. "I'm not. You Danvers girls and the gay panic walk hand in hand apparently." "Hey!" You shove her away playfully and Maggie gives one of those laughs that shows off her dimples, making your heart melt deliciously.  "Seriously, though. She wants nothing to do with that outer space man child and I still feel like she might split me in two with her laser eyes. And I'm pretty sure I managed to see her planning a date with Lena through a text." "They're trying something called kombucha." "It's a lesbian drink, honey." You laugh, leaning in against Maggie and letting her wrap her arms around your body. "I just want her to be happy." "I know, baby." You're both not surprised when Kara sends you text not even ten minutes later saying she broke things off with Mon-El. . Your head moves from side to side as you follow Kara pacing around the training room.  "She has a boyfriend!" Kara grumbles. "Ex-boyfriend." You say. "They were together for five years!" She whines. "But only dated for two."  "They made science together!" "Are we talking about science or se-" "I don't like him!" Kara interrupts you. "And I don't trust him! I know he's up to something and I'll find out what it is." She started to pace again. "He won't fool me with that beard of that hair or those eyebrows. Lena deserves better... but the way she looks at him..." You can't stand it anymore. "Kara, do you want to tell me something?" She looks surprised at you, like only now she understands her own words and how she just spilled them out for you. "I-I... No." Then she walks out of the room, bumping against J'onn on her way out.  You've never seen him uncomfortable, not even when he had to pretend to be Kara as Cat's assistant, but the way blushes all the way to the tips of his ears when he looked in shock at Kara's back... You're just so grateful you're not psychic.  . Getting kidnapped and almost dying wasn't in your plans.  But you can't help but feel happy when your sister and your girlfriend join forces to save you. You really have the best family. It takes a week for you to fully recover and go home, and all of your friends celebrate with Game Night, like always. Only this time, Lena Luthor is there too. "Agent Danvers." She greets you after walking inside your apartment, offering you a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  "Oh, I'll give Kara those..." "No, please... these are for you." She says, cheeks turning pink. "Kara told me you got injured on one of your missions, I'm glad to see you're okay." You can't say you're not surprised, but before you open your mouth you feel Maggie's hand on your waist. "Trying to steal my girl, little Luthor?" Maggie says and you're glad Lena smiling, raising her hands in surrender.  "Wouldn't think of that." "Get a Danvers to yourself." Maggie winks at her and this time Lena doesn't say anything. "Lena!" Kara walks out of the bathroom and quickly wraps her arms around the CEO tightly. "I'm so glad you came!" "That's what she says." Maggie mumbles feigning a cough.  "Maggie! Behave." You say, pointing at finger at her. "Yes, ma'am." You observe Lena through the night. She surprises everyone by paying for the food (the best pizzas from the most expensive Italian restaurant in National City), and you giggle as you watch James and Kara teaching her how to eat her slice with her bare hands and not with a fork and knife. Maggie loves the vegan flavored ones the CEO bought specially for the two of them, saying they could be best friends forever, and you almost choke when Kara accepts a piece of the spinach pizza Lena offered her. (Kara and healthy food? Yeah, right.) You notice your sister's hand touching Lena's tentatively as they eat in silence and how they talk in soft whispers, smiling brightly as they look into each other's eyes. You've never seen Kara this happy.  "Babe..." Maggie mumbles after you're both under the covers.  "What?" "I ship it." "Go to sleep, Maggie." You say with a smile.  "Yes, ma'am." . "Do you want to get lunch together?" You ask Kara after a training session. She offers you an apologetic look, already taking off her cape.  "I'm so sorry, Alex. Lena's finally free today, since she's been busy with this new project, so I'm having lunch with her. But we can totally have a sister night, if you're up to it?"  You nod. "Yeah, sure." Kara folds her cape slowly and carefully, and you recognize the famous crinkle between your sister's eyebrows. You know Kara wants to tell you something but she keeps chickening out in the last moment and changing the topic, and you don't want to pressure her. You don't want he to admit something she's not ready to. Kara sighs loudly, and you pretend you're busy checking your gun.  "Alex." She finally says. "Yes?" Kara folds her arms over her chest, approaching you nervously. "I... I just wanted to... I-I mean, there's this thing..." You can't help but smile and touch your sister's shoulder, before pulling her into a gentle hug. She's such a baby sometimes. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" You say, holding her tightly. "Relax." "I'm scared." She mumbles against your shoulder. "Scared of what?" You ask, pulling away to look into her blue eyes. "I think I'm in love with Lena."  Finally. "You think?" You say with a small smile, and she relaxes, clearly relieved you're not biting her head off. "I am in love with Lena." "Well, you just won me fifty bucks. Maggie was betting it would take you much longer to admit it." She gasps. "You knew?" "Kara, when Lena's around you, you're not very subtle." You laugh. "You stare at her boobs like... a lot." Kara has the decency to blush brightly at that. "I do not!" "You do, and I don't blame you. Maggie thinks she has amazing boobs too." "Hey!" Kara points a finger at you, but she's smiling. "But they really are amazing..."  "And she makes you eat kale." "It tastes disgusting." "She listens N'Sync with you." "She's amazing at lip sync." "And she's in love with you too." She blinks.  "You think so?" She asked, eyes shining with hope. "I know, Kara. The way she looks at you sometimes..." You smile. "Wanna tell me about her?" Kara offers you a lovesick smile.  "She's so beautiful, Alex! And so smart... when she talks about science it's so full of passion! But she also loves poetry, classic music, and kids, oh Rao she loves kids! She says they're curious and honest and have the brightest minds, and I'm so in love with her!" You laugh when she finishes almost out of breath, because you're very happy for your sister. "I think its time for you to get the girl." . Clark and J'onn are holding Kara back using all of their strength as she screams loudly, trying to get away from them, trying to fly straight to Rhea's ship consequences be damned.  Lena is up there. "GET OFF OF ME!" "Supergirl, you need to calm down!" J'onn screams back. You see Clark squeezing her arms tightly as he makes her look into his eyes. "Kara, listen to me! We're getting Lena back, I promise you!" She groans loudly, the veins around her eyes making themselves visible before she's hitting Superman with her laser eyes, throwing him away against the DEO's wall and managing to get away from J'onn's grip.  Clark shakes his head from his spot on the floor, before standing up and superspeeding towards Kara, breaking through the wall to the other side of the bulding. They're hitting each other so fast you only see blurs of red and blue, a glimpse of a punch here and there, flashes of quick heat vision, Kara kicking Clark in the chest so hard that the vibrations sends everyone to the ground.  Including you. Before you know what's happening, Clark has Kara on her knees, trapped in his arms as he holds her from behind, and you run to your sister when you realize she's crying. "Kara..." You whisper. Superman finally releases her from his grip and Kara falls with her hands against the ground, tears running down her cheeks. "Lillian was right... she'll hate me, Alex... she'll hate me when she finds out..." And you finally understand. You understand what she meant when she told you she was scared. She was scared Lena wouldn't love her back after realizing Kara was in fact Supergirl.  "She won't. You're her hero, remember? She won't hate you, sweetheart." . Clark brings Lena back as promised. And Lena saves the world with Lillian's help. The city is destroyed, but you can't go another day without making sure Maggie is yours and you're hers, so you ask her to marry you. That's your happy ending.  But not Kara's.  Mon-El was a man child, but he was still their friend and she let him go. And she's been avoiding Lena since Clark carried the CEO back safely to the ground. You're not sure she should be alone right now, so you pay your sister a visit, but someone's already there. "Lena, please..." you hear Kara's voice through her door. "So you lied to me?" Oh shit. "N-No... I-I'm sorry..." "You've been lying to me since the day we met and now you're sorry?" Lena spits out, her voice trembling. "You made me feel like I could trust you, like I meant more to you than just my name but you were the one who couldn't trust a Luthor!" "Lena, you got it all wrong, of course I trust you, please, believe me!" "And why would I believe you?" "Because I love you!" You gasp. "Well, now is too late." The door opens and suddenly a teary-eyed Lena is standing in front of you, before she briskly walks past you towards the elevator.  You walk inside Kara's apartment and she's sitting in her couch.  "Kara..." "Just.. don't." . Maggie tells you it's better to wait for them to figure things out on their own, and you agree to wait. You wait for three months. And then you're walking inside Lena's new office. She doesn't take her eyes away from her computer screen until you're standing right in font of her desk, but apparently she's not surprised to see you there. "Agent Danvers." Lena greets you, sitting up straighter in her chair, one of her eyebrows raised. "Lena." You say back. "I don't remember seeing you on my schedule." "There are some perks of being a federal agent." You smile smugly. "Except you're not a federal agent, right?" Lena asks defiantly. You sigh and decide to make yourself comfortable on the chair in front of Lena's desk, before looking right into those green eyes that seemed to have the power to scan her like Kara did. "I'll be honest here, Lena." She scoffs and you ignore her. "Kara lied to you. I lied to you. We all lied to you." She looks away but you keep going. "But we also cared about you. I still care about you." "Then why did you lie to me?" She asks in a small voice, vulnerable.  "To protect you!" You say. "And it is lame, I know, but Kara..." Lena's eyes flicker to yours at the mention of your sister's name.  "I got kidnapped for being Supergirl's sister. I was tortured and almost died because of Kara. And to this day she still hates herself for it. And I know she wonders sometimes how my life would've been be if she wasn't here. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if something happened to you for the same reason." Lena closes her eyes for a moment and you reach over her desk to rest your hand on top of hers, and you're surprised when she holds your hand back. "But I'll tell you how my life would've been if Kara wasn't in it: it would've been be miserable." A single tear runs down Lena's cheek. "I said awful things to her." You smile. "She understands why you were angry. But you still can make things right." "How?" You reach inside your pocket and offers Lena your first wedding invitation. . Your wedding was amazing. Your wife is amazing. The honeymoon... amazing. You're almost sad to come back from Italy, but you want to see your sister. And Lena.  You remember seeing the CEO finally approaching Kara by the end of the party and both of them slow dancing together, sharing a few whispered words every now and then. But you were too busy thinking about the honeymoon.  (And how someone anonymously gave you a full paid honeymoon in Italy as a wedding gift.) You share a kiss with your wife before walking inside Kara's apartment only to immediately step back, tripping against Maggie and making her scream in pain. "ALEX!" Kara screams, quickly sitting up from her spot under Lena and covering their very naked bodies with a blanket.  "Jesus FUCKING Christ!" You yell, covering your eyes. "Where are your clothes?" "Oh my God..." Lena mumbles, hiding her red face behind Kara's back. "Don't you know how to knock?" Maggie looks at them over your shoulder. "Thank you for the wedding gift, little Luthor." You want to punch Maggie because now it's so not the time. "And add amazing ass to that list, by the way."  "Hey!" Kara yells. "Let's go home." You grab Maggie's hand and drags her out of Kara's apartment, because your job's clearly done here. "Yes, ma'am." ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ ORIGINAL ON AO3! ENJOY!

"Kara is Supergirl"
Anon prompt about Maggie being jealous of Supergirl. Not sure if this is how you pictured it, but I hope you like it. Alex crawled back up the bed with the most satisfying grin on her face. She laid beside her girlfriend, propping herself up on her side by her elbow. Alex watched as Maggie tried to catch her breath and regain her composure after the orgasms Alex had given her. “Wow.” Alex smiled as Maggie's breath began evening out. “Alex….” Maggie huffed as she rolled her head to the side to see her proud girlfriends face. “For a baby gay, you're amazing at that.” She took another deep breath. “I don't get it.” “I was always a fast learner.” Alex shrugged. She was physically unable to stop smiling. Her cheeks hurt from how big and permanent her smile was. “Plus, don't know if you learned this about me yet but, I'm a bit of an over achiever Sawyer.” “Yeah well…” Maggie said rolling her head back so she was looking at the ceiling again. She brought her hand to her face and then ran it through her hair. “Overachieving is definitely what just happened there.” She laughed glancing at Alex again. “God,” Alex huffed as she rolled back onto her back. “I love making you cum.” “Alex.” Maggie groaned as she narrowed her eyes at her. “Mmmm yes?” Alex smiled as she looked at her girlfriend too. “Is it my turn now?” Maggie asked gently rubbing her fingertips down her girlfriends bare arm. Maggie bit her lip as she let her eyes follow Alex’s body down and back up, giving Alex chills all over her body. “Oh definitely. I'm so w-” Alex stopped at the sound of her phone ringing. She groaned as she leaned over and looked at the caller ID. It was Supergirl. Maggie saw it too. “Oh...she's got a direct line?” She asked with a ping of jealousy in her voice. “Yeah, but she usually only calls when it's an emergency so I should probably get this.” She sat up and grabbed a shirt from the floor for her to toss over her head. “I'll be right back, okay?” Alex grinned as she leaned in to kiss Maggie. “Don't forget where we left off.” God Alex was sexy. Maggie wondered how this woman was just coming out now. All those wasted years of what could have been amazing lesbian sex. But now she got Alex all to herself, and God that felt nice. She watched as Alex got up and walked over to the window that overlooked the city. The sun was just rising and with that orange glow Alex looked radiant. Well, Alex always looked radiant, but Maggie was officially starting to fall, so just Alex breathing made her swoon. “Hey there.” Alex laughed, her back turned to Maggie as she answered the phone. “Okay good I'm glad you made it back safe. Did you have fun?” Maggie was half paying attention to Alex’s voice, and half to Alex’s legs, and how long and smooth and heavenly they were. A loud laugh from Alex brought Maggie back to Alex’s voice. She didn't laugh that loud with everyone. Really only herself, Kara, and sometime Winn. She loved being one of the only people that could make Alex Danvers really laugh, which made her wonder even more what this “close relationship” was to Supergirl. “Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself.” Alex laughed. “Yeah. Yeah. Oh really?” Alex giggled. Maggie sat up against the headboard and watched as Alex began to pace a bit with a huge smile on her face. She was officially starting to feel weird about Supergirl. Who was this woman that made her girlfriend smile like this? And why was she calling in the middle of sex? And why did Alex answer it? Because this didn't sound like an emergency. “Shut up. Well I did miss you.” Maggie's eyebrows rose. “Of course I did. You know I'm not the same when you're away.” Maggie crossed her arms. “I know.” Alex nodded. “Yeah I've been enjoying myself and that's all you need to know.” She laughed again. Maggie could feel her heartbeat rising. She could feel the jealousy rearing its ugly head. Why didn't she tell Supergirl she was with her girlfriend? But then Maggie heard the words that felt like a punch in the gut. A verbal punch that made her want to double over in pain. “I know. I love you too.” Alex smiled wide. “Bye.” I love you. I LOVE YOU?! Maggie's mind began to race. I love you was big, especially for Maggie who rarely said it to ANYONE. And yet, her girlfriend is a few feet away saying it to her best-gal-pal Supergirl. Did they have a thing? Wouldn't Alex be trying to hide it more if they did? Maybe it's some type of open relationship? Maybe Alex really isn't all new to this? Maybe that's why she's so good at e-? “Miss me?” She heard Alex say as she slowly crawled back up the bed to Maggie. “Yeah, almost as much as you missed Supergirl.” Maggie tried her hardest for it to not sound jealous, but it did. “Wait….” alex stopped crawling. “What? Are you mad?” “Didn't sound like much of an emergency to me?” Maggie crossed her arms over her chest. Maggie usually isn't like this. She usually gets all the facts before making assumptions like this. But with Alex things are different. Because she JUST started falling. She JUST started letting that wall down, and having these feelings, for this amazing woman, scared her…and made her a little crazy. “Maggie….it's not…” Alex sat in her side of the bed as she tried to figure out how to explain. “We have a close relationship.” “Yeah….yeah you told me that.” Maggie say up, the white sheet of Alex’s bed covering the top half of her body. “How close are we talking Al?” Alex ran her hand over the back of her neck as she thought, and then it clicked. She chuckled a bit. “Oh no...no Maggie it's not like that at all.” She laughed again. Maggie huffed and swung her legs over to her side of the bed as she sat up. Here she was jealous and hurt over her girlfriend being “close” with someone else...and she was laughing? Fuck that. Fuck this. Maggie grabbed her shirt off the floor and threw it over her head. Alex immediately started to panic. “Whoa Maggie no, wait, where are you going?” “You know what Alex?” Maggie paused as she stood to try and find her pants that she was pretty sure they shed somewhere between the front door and the bed. “I just….I don't get this ‘close relationship’ between you guys, I'm sorry. She's calls during sex, you answer. She has an emergency, you leave. She flies in through your window unannounced whenever she wants?” Alex sat up, in a bigger panic. “Maggie trust me…I can't...it's not….” “It's fine Alex, I don't need to know.” Maggie said as she spotted her pants and snatched them from the floor. “Maggie please stop.” Alex spoke but, one leg was already in her pants. Maggie leaving was enough to make Alex just say it. “Kara is Supergirl. She's my sister.” Maggie stopped. She froze. She let her pants drop to the floor again. “Oh my god.” Maggie thought about it for a moment. “How did I not see that?!” She turned to face Alex, she could see the panic all over her face and Maggie immediately felt guilty for doing that to her. “Oh Al, I'm sorry.” She ran back to bed and jumped back into her spot. “I didn't mean to freak out, I just...I got jealous.” “Of Kara?” Alex sat back against the headboard. “Well, in my defense, I didn't know it was Kara!” Maggie laughed a bit as she rested her head against the headboard. A stressed forced smile came to Alex's face. “Hey I won't tell anyone, I promise.” “I know you won’t.” Alex smiled as she stared into Maggie's eyes. “I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier.” “I get why you didn't.” Maggie smiled and rested her hand on her girlfriend's cheek. “I'm sorry I got a little crazy on you. I just heard you laughing, and saying you missed her, and that...you love her, and I just got scared.” “It's okay Mags. I'm glad you know.” Alex seemed to relax again as Maggie leaned over and kissed her neck. “What do you say we pick up where we left off?” Maggie asked. “Hmm where was that again?” Alex asked with a laugh. “Please allow me to remind you.” Maggie laughed as she hand travels down her girlfriend's body.

Kismet
Pairing: Alex Danvers/Sara Lance
Summary: Alex attends ladies' night in an effort to heal from a long drawn heartache. When her friends cancel, she ends up meeting someone else instead.
N.B.: Also posted on AO3
For Alex, most night-offs involved beer, sometimes wine, and more often than not lately: whisky. Tonight was different. Tonight was ladies night at a local gay bar.
The bar was a two-story building, with the upstairs being louder, containing a dance floor and a bar of its own, and downstairs being a bar and bistro where, until 9.30p.m., the food was being sold. Though Alex sat at the bar, most of the area was set-up as a lounge, with all the coffee tables between the seating each having a lit candle for decor.
It was still a little too early for the dance floor, though bass boomed down the wooden stairs. Most of the patrons remained on the ground floor, ageing from fresh-out-of-high-school girls up to people who had a good thirty or so years on Alex.
The bar, being a cocktail bar and it being ladies night, offered half-priced shots for the big three W’s: Wet Pussies, Wet Spots and Wet Dreams. Alex had tried one of each while she waited for her friends, but the buzz from them seemed to have left her.
It had been four months since she’d asked Maggie Sawyer to marry her. Three and a half months since Maggie moved some of her stuff in before it all went to hell.
Having begun with a fight where Maggie said she didn’t want to sign the lease with Alex, it escalated quickly when she said that she wanted to keep her own place. Her own space since Alex’s apartment only was single-bedroomed. Then she was staying at her own place more than Alex’s and then…
But tonight was ladies night. The second ladies night that Alex would attend, even after she had sworn never again. Not after the guilt had settled in and the person next to her had felt like a mistress instead of a one-night stand.
But she wasn’t looking for someone else. She wasn’t looking to move on after her first big heartbreak. Hey, there it was Danvers, another first. No, Alex was looking for a proper night off with some friends. Friends who wouldn’t look at her with big, blue sad eyes the way Kara’s did. They’d have some drinks and then whatever followed, would follow. She didn’t have to work tomorrow since J’onn had made her take the day off.
But as Alex looked at her phone, she found that her friends –– or at least, those she had presumed to be her friends, but might actually be Maggie’s instead –– had all cancelled on her. Damn it.
Calling the bartender over, Alex asked him to make her a drink, “Whatever you think. As long as it’s strong.” After that crushing blow, she needed to take the edge off.
As she waited for the drink, Alex found herself casing the bar out of habit, looking over the patrons for concealed weapons, signs of abnormal behaviour or anything that may disclose they were possibly an alien in disguise.
Behind her, the bartender pushed the drink towards her, his face passive, uncaring but not upset. Just a normal hospitality worker in the middle of their shift.
Most people had come in groups of twos and fours, sitting together in clusters as they talked. There was the odd single person on their phone, or, surprisingly, reading a book under the low lighting, but since they kept looking at the door, Alex took an educated guess and decided that they were waiting on someone.
Tonight, it felt like, was couple’s night.
Alex couldn’t remember much of the last ladies’ night. Except that she’d wandered in, looking for a place to drink and had not realised that it was a gay bar until she saw the rainbow flag –– at that point she’d already ordered a drink and by the time she’d finished, someone had already hit her up and bought her another. And another and another until asking if she wanted to go back to her place.
Swirling the ridiculous umbrella in her drink –– the bartender sorely missed the target in what type of drinker she was –– Alex decided that after this drink, she was going to go home, binge something on tv and then go to sleep. Maybe do a load of laundry in-between episodes if she was feeling up to it.
“Not to sound too much like a pick-up line, but you look a little lonely,” a woman said as she leant next to Alex at the bar. She had an envy-worthy black leather jacket over a shirt, paired with a pair of dark jeans and boots.
Alex watched as the stranger held a hand up to the bartender, a wry smile on her face before she looked back to Alex. “Are you waiting for someone here or is it all right if I buy you a drink?”
Alex stared at the woman’s eyes for a second too long (they were green, at least, under the bar lights), and found herself categorising body language. Relaxed, one leg carrying more weight than the other, hip cocked to the left. She couldn’t tell, but she thought the woman had a weapon on her.
She was a little tipsy, and after the whole take-over a few months back, most people were carrying something. Even if it was just mace.
“Ah, no,” Alex answered, shaking her head as she returned the woman’s smiled. “They all cancelled so I’m just…having a drink. Are you…” she trailed off, watching as three shots landed on the bar. One of the W’s. Maybe all three of them.
The woman took a shot of one and then the other, setting the last shot glass down onto the first and pushing it back on the table.
“Waiting for someone?” the woman said.
“Yes,” Alex answered, before realising that the woman was finishing Alex’s question, not asking it. “I mean, are you? Not me, because, I…already answered…” Drawing out a breath, Alex winced at her own fluster, “God, I sound like Kara.”
“Girlfriend?”
“Sister, who’s a little socially awkward,” she explained, before adding, “Obviously.”
The woman laughed, a warm, good-natured sound before she leant in towards Alex, “So…am I right to presume that was a yes to the drink?”
“Sure,” Alex said. “Why not?”
Pulling away, the blonde woman raised her hand, drawing the bartender’s attention before she ordered two whisky’s. “To answer your question from before, no, I’m not waiting on anyone.” Alex looked up at the woman, finding herself lost somewhere between the eyes and the grand, warm smile. “I’m new town, actually.”
“Welcome to the city…”
“Sara,” the woman said, flashing her a grin. “And who may you be?”
“Alex.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Alex.”
As the two whiskies arrive, Alex found herself relaxing as she found Sara’s ease reflecting back onto herself. Taking the drinks, she was lead to a single lounge on its own where conversation followed and more drinks exchanged between the two.
Alex, through playful interrogation skills, learned that Sara was here for a mixture of business/vacation, she was a free-agent (“so to speak”) and had been given a flyer for the ‘ladies night’ from a coffee shop that she’d attended earlier that day.
She had been “looking for a Supergirl, actually.” Which had Alex somewhere between concern for her sister, and a little envious that Kara held the attention of this stranger.
“To see a glimpse of the one-and-only?” Alex asked.
“Something like that,” she shrugged. “Heard a lot about her. I’ve seen tidbits of her in action from a few news pieces. They all seemed to come from here.”
“From Catco I take it?” Alex took a guess. “They’re always writing about her. Even after Cat left.”
“Cat?” Sara said with a shrug.
“You know, Cat Grant. Everyone in America knows Cat Grant,” Alex said, a suspicion rising from within her. You couldn’t live in the country without knowing the famous Cat Grant. She was more famous than all of the Kardashians.
The woman shrugged. “I kinda live under a rock from all of that. Tell you the truth, I haven’t lived in America for a few years,” there, she smiled as if there was a joke to be told.
“Work has you travelling internationally?”
“You wouldn’t believe how far I’ve travelled for work.” She paused and then leant forward to hold Alex’s eyes, “Couple of years ago, I lived in the Middle East…North Africa for some time after that, then Eastern Europe and North Asia for a year. Now I just…wander, so to speak.”
“Come on, now you’re just trying to impress me,” Alex pointed.
The woman laughed. “A little bit,” she admitted, nodding, “but it’s not a complete lie. I do travel around.”
“That must be fun.”
The woman made a half-nod. “Eh, sometimes. I used to travel with a group of people for work, but…holiday season,” she said, a tight smile coming to her mouth. “Now I’m here.”
“Oh, that must be…”
Sara smiled, leaning back in her seat as she handed her empty glass to a staff member making rounds on the floor.
Awkwardly, Alex fiddled with her drink, not sure where to go from there. They’d been talking for over a few hours by that point and had breached over most of the usual get-to-know subjects. Everything safe, anyway.
“Do you…dance?” Alex asked.
The woman blinked, before she laughed, “Sure, I dance.”
“I don’t…haven’t…danced much. The floor’s upstairs,” Alex pointed, feeling the self-conscious part of herself rise again. “Or, we can just ––“
She was cut off as the woman grabbed her arm, grinning as she helped Alex to stand. “Dancing sounds fun.”
Alex downed the rest of her drink and followed the blonde up the stairs. Being half-past midnight, the dance floor held a fair amount of patrons. Alex didn’t know what to do at first, frozen before the woman took to the floor, a smirk on her face as began a simple sway of her hips and hands to the music, bopping her head to the beat as she grinned at Alex.
And then Alex found herself falling back into her nineteen-year-old self again, taking to the dance floor with ease. Within two songs they were dancing together rather than separately. Sara’s hands were on her shoulders and hers upon Sara’s waist, dancing to the music as Alex allowed the weariness of work to fall away.
They drank another round of drinks, danced to more songs and then Alex found herself leaning in and kissing the woman in the middle of a surprisingly remixed 90s song.
When she pulled back, her eyes looked into Sara’s eyes –– almost lavender under the blue and red lights –– and hoped that she hadn’t crossed a line. The kiss had been nice and Sara’s hands were still on her.
Leaning forward, Sara’s lips went to her ear and asked, “Do you want to get out of here?” before she pulled back to see Alex’s response.
Alex’s mouth opened, her brow furrowing before she nodded. “Yeah, my place is only a walk away if you want to grab a coffee or something?”
“Sounds like a plan.”
Alex led her out of the bar and down the road, her fingers digging into the pockets of her jeans to double-check her keys and wallet.
The kiss, though still seared on Alex’s lips, became unmentioned. And a tension remained as Alex walked the line of wanting desperately to push Sara up against the wall of some alleyway to kiss her hard against the brick, and pretending as if nothing had happened.
As they walked through the streets, the conversation drifted to about the city, with Alex offering different places for the woman to visit in her travels, jokes passing easily between them before they reached their destination. When they reached the familiar door to her apartment, Alex realised that she hadn’t cleaned in expectation of visitors.
“Just so you know, this isn’t how I usually keep my apartment,” Alex explained, “Work has been keeping me busy.” Then turning back around to open her door, she led Sara inside the apartment.
There, Sara’s eyes looked around the room as Alex hurried over to self-consciously tidy up the laundry basket on her couch, tucking it around a curtain and a potted plant Kara had gotten her. Then hurrying to clean up the empty wine bottles and take-out containers on one end of her kitchen bench. “Sorry about that,” she said. “I…”
“It’s okay. My room’s a mess at the moment so it’s nice to see an almost completely tidy place.”
“Your hotel room?” Alex questioned.
Sara shook her head. “It’s kinda a vehicle, to be honest.”
Alex’s mouth parted, a soft laugh coming out before she covered her mouth. “Sorry, I just didn’t pick your for an RV person.”
Sara shrugged. “What can I say, I’m flexible,” and there was a smirk, a knowing, I-just-told-a-pun smirk that had crossed her mouth more than countable times over the night.
Alex liked it. She liked the playful humour, the bisexual-puns and the ease and confidence of Sara. For the first evening, Alex hadn’t thought about her ex-fiancé for a single moment, and although she was definitely tipsy, she wasn’t drunk.
So when Sara tilted her head, eyebrows raised in question, Alex kissed her and only stopped to make sure that she hadn’t misread the situation.
When Sara kissed her again, Alex drew her fingers through the long blonde hair before she began to undress the woman. Pulling the jacket, then the shirt off, as Sara untangled her hands, discarding the clothes to the floor as she followed Alex’s lead into the bedroom.
In the doorway of her bedroom, Alex paused as her fingers splayed over Sara’s sides, her thumbs edged underneath the black sports bra. Just now, her brain had given a slight hitch as she noticed just how fit Sara was.
Back, before she’d come out to herself, she’d never really understood the attractiveness of muscles on men. But Sara was a whole other story.
Now she understood the appeal.
Then the sports bra was gone and Alex was kissing Sara again, her hands running down Sara’s waist, over her stomach muscles as she felt Sara draw in a breath and exhale between kissing before Alex reached the button of the dark jeans.
There, she found herself stopped as her own shirt and singlet were removed, her own bra, and then she was kicking her shoes off and her socks and her pants had been tugged down her thighs as Sara’s knelt down, her mouth slipping over Alex’s stomach, down below the naval, to where the plain, grey cotton underwear sat.
Until they weren’t.
And Alex was stepping out of them and falling back onto her bed and a mouth was going down and down…
Alex’s thighs trembled as she eased and then paused. “Ah,” she said sitting up. “I just…wanted to explain,” and Sara looked up, a kind smile on her mouth as she waited for Alex to speak as though she hadn’t just been about to go down on her. “I don’t…after alcohol,” and Alex gestured down to where Sara’s mouth had been heading to just before. “Not often, anyway so…”
“Is that so?” Sara said, grinning at her again, “Well, I promise not to let my ego be too bruised by the effects of alcohol on blood flow in the general area of your clit.”
Alex laughed, and then the laughter fell away into soft gasps as Sara’s mouth and tongue began to slip over the edges of labia in the beginning of a long, drawn tease.
As it was, Alex didn’t have to worry about alcohol and blood flow. Sara knew exactly how to draw it down where it was most needed.
She would kiss down, the very tip of her tongue slipping between Alex’s folds before she would pull away. Her mouth would slip over to her thighs, kissing over the skin as her hand lift from Alex’s hips and slipped down, drawing over her pubic bone to touch lights over the drawing wetness, before slipping underneath Alex’s leg and drawing it over her shoulder, parting the thighs and exposing the damp skin to cool air.
Alex shifted her hips as the mouth returned to her labia, pressing kisses and slipping a tongue over the edges, before all at once, she felt the flat of Sara’s tongue in a broad, single lick, the tip curving over her clit, tapping over the hood for good measure.
Though, only at the beginning of what was to be a long night, Alex could feel her heart race, her limbs shaking with the adrenaline of what was happening and what she wanted it to be, before exhaling out her drawn breath and easing her racing heart.
There was no fear, no worries, no work or ex-girlfriends on her mind. Only the want to have Sara go further and further, to be harder and faster, but to also exist in that wave of warmth when Sara’s tongue and mouth slipped over her clit.
Alex's hand had slipped through the blonde hair, grasping a handful as Sara’s paced began to move faster, her strokes harder as she clutched at Alex, drawing the body closer, the thighs wide apart to allow unequivocal access. Now her teeth added into the kiss, her tongue could curve in a strong, singular movement and Alex would feel her hips lift, her hand unintentionally pulling at Sara’s head to be in the right position, a little left, a little higher, a…ah…..
In a few hours, they would rest as sunrise drifted through the curtains. Sara would rise and shower after the sky had well-turned blue; Alex would make coffee and breakfast and then they would sit and talk, picking over bacon and eggs, speaking as though they were old, parted friends and not new strangers.
Maybe then they’ll realise their mutual acquaintance and the strangeness of kismet. But they had all night until then.

i am lost in you; [1/3]
powerful business woman alex danvers meets her personal assistant maggie sawyer.
inspired by chylers and flos glaad appearance.
ao3.
i.
Alex still wasn’t sure how she ended up running one of the biggest companies in the world. For real, she has no idea how it happened. But it did happen, somehow and now she is one of the most powerful women in the world and to say that she was proud is an understatement.
Sure, her sister may be Supergirl, an alien and a hero to everyone in National City but Alex was a powerful business women who owned half of National City.
And really, her sister was more a hero for her than most people can imagine, and she dearly loved her with everyone she had but there were moments when Alex wanted to strangle her. Like, when she decided to hire Alex a personal assistant because she ‘needed more time for herself’. But Alex knew Kara’s true intentions.
“Come on Alex, you really should start dating again. It’s fun, believe me.” Kara cheekily smiled at her bigger sister, while sitting on a thousand dollars chair, a file in her one hand and pizza in the other.
“I date.” Alex replied lamely and Kara rolled her eyes.
“Going out with someone on tinder for drinks doesn’t count as a date.”
Alex groaned and let herself fall back on her brown leather chair, specially made for her and she closed her eyes, silently praying Kara would finally stop pushing her into dating again.
It wasn’t that Alex was not interested when it came to dating, but when you are one of the richest women in the world it get’s harder and harder to tell if someone is truly interested in you or your money.
“Give me the file.” Alex muttered under her breath, hoping Kara would drop the dating topic for now.
“We are not done.” Kara said and handed her sister the file.
Alex opened the file, her eyes diligently observing the details written down. Maggie Sawyer. Somehow, this name was familiar to her, but she couldn’t quite but a picture to the name.
“Maggie Sawyer?”
“Former cop. Remember the one who saved a whole alien refugee family in the warehouse owned by Lord? That was her.” Kara said, while taking another bite from her pizza.
Alex nodded, a small smile forming at the corner of her lips. When she looked up, she was met with a smirking Kara, her eyes gleaming and Alex knew her sister was up to something.
“Kara, what did you?” Alex squinted her eyes, her lips firm and her sight wasn’t leaving the other woman. “Nothing.” Kara replied innocently and Alex let out another loud groan. This wasn’t going to end well.
“It seems you like her.”
Alex scoffed. “I do not.”
“Your smile said otherwise.” Kara wiggled her eyebrows and Alex was making sure to send her sister death glares. Many, many death glares.
“Kara, tell me what you did.” Alex was getting impatient and she really didn’t had the time for this game. After all, she was trying to run a big ass company.
“She will have a job interview with you in a few minutes.” Kara said quickly, took a quick look at her watch and grinned at her sister. “She should be coming in any second.”
Before Alex could say anything, the door opened and Winn’s head appeared, an unusual smile on his face. Of course Winn was involved in this. Of course he was. Alex betted all of her money that Kara’s boyfriend was involved as well.
She really needed to have a talk with James.
“A Maggie Sawyer is here, for the job interview.” He said, grinning and Alex was close to using her years of training on Winn. Very close.
“A job interview I never agreed to.” Alex muttered under her breath but Kara hushed her and signed with her hands to let Maggie in.
Alex didn’t had any expectations because she had no idea what Maggie looked like. And why would she? She never had met this woman and she never planned on, she only had heard one or two of her heroic stories. But apparently, not only was the woman a hero to a lot of people, she was also absolutely beautiful, stunning and unbelievable hot.
When Maggie Sawyer entered through the door, Alex never ever thought before in her life that a simply skinny jeans and a white blouse would make her lose her breath for a few seconds. And she specially didn’t expected her brain to come up with some unholy thoughts, involving a certain woman bend on her table, moaning and whispering her name over and over again.
Alex gulped, quickly shoving those thoughts away and she took a second look at the woman. Her brown hair was falling easily over her shoulders, her hands were folded before her and god, those dimples and those smile was honestly the cutest thing Alex had ever seen in her life.
Kara’s voice brought her back from her thoughts and Alex put on her best smile.
“Maggie Sawyer, right?” Kara asked the most obvious question as a icebreaker and Alex rolled her eyes.
“Yep, that’s me.”
Shit. Her voice was way lower than Alex had thought.
“You are Kara Danvers, right?” Maggie asked and Kara got up from her chair and opened her arms and embraced the smaller woman into a hug. “Sorry, I’m a hugger.” Kara said quickly and Maggie chuckled at that and fuck, Alex was a goner.
When Maggie hugged her sister, their eyes met and Alex may not be very good at dating, but reading people was one of her specialties. The intensity the other woman had in her eyes told Alex everything she needed. Alex could clearly make out how Maggie's eyes were roaming over her body and Alex mouth switched into a smirk, well knowing what kind of an effect she could have on women.
There was a good reason why she was wearing suits everyday.
And she did turn a straight girl gay. It was a long time ago but Alex was still immensely proud of that.
Alex sat up, crossed her legs and put her arms on her table, letting her chin rest on her hands, her eyes not leaving the other woman’s face. Maggie’s mouth was slightly opened and it didn’t went unnoticed. Of course Alex noticed.
Kara let go of Maggie and she gestured to the woman to sit down next to her on another chair and Maggie nodded politely at that, somehow her eyes still on Alex.
“So,” Alex spoke up, her voice a bit lower than usual, “You are Maggie Sawyer. My new personal assistant.”
Kara eyed her sister suspiciously, but Maggie gave Alex a smile, her dimples showing and Alex knew she needed to make that woman smile again.
“Well, not yet but it would be a pleasure working for you.”
“Oh, I’m sure it will be.”
Kara turned her head from Alex to Maggie, then from Maggie back to Alex and she wrinkled her her eyebrows together, just pretending in not knowing what exactly was happening.
“Well, “ Alex clapped her hands together, got up from her chair (she made sure to swing her hips a bit more than usual, just because) and made her way over to Maggie, who already stood and Alex hold out her hand, “I have read your file and it would be my pleasure working with you.” Alex made sure to say every word a bit slower and Maggie took Alex hand and shook it.
At the contact, Alex shuddered and god, this was all Kara’s fault and Alex wasn’t really sure if she should strangle or thank her sister.
“The pleasure will be all mine, Ms Danvers.” Maggie replied, her eyes not leaving Alex for one second and Alex knew that the attraction was mutual. Now she needed to figure out what to do.
Meanwhile, Kara just stood besides them, her mouth slightly open, still pretending to be confused at the scene she just saw with her own eyes.
“I have a lunch date with James, I’ll see you later, Alex.” Kara tried to sound like she had no ideas what was going on, but she failed miserably when Alex shot her wink before she left the door.
“Your sister is truly something.” Maggie said laughing and Alex chuckled, nodding her head. “She really is. But I’m glad she invited you for this.” Alex said honestly and god, she really hoped she didn’t sounded like a creep.
Maggie smiled at her, titling her head and bit her lip. “I’m glad as well.” She replied shortly and Alex held her breath for a few seconds. “But, just so you know,” Maggie took a step forward, standing in Alex personal space but Alex didn’t minded it one bit, “I meant everything.” Her voice was even lower than before and Alex gulped and nodded.
“See you tomorrow, Ms Danvers.” And with that, Maggie was out of the door, leaving an astound and still out of breath Alex behind her.
Well, Alex was truly fucked.
And so Maggie started working for Alex.
It turned out that Maggie well knew that Alex was a lesbian (how could she not, Alex was never ashamed of that part of herself and the public did knew about her) and she only took the job to see how Alex was in real life.
Alex hadn’t minded one bit.
“I just couldn’t let that opportunity pass. Did you know you have a huge lesbian fellowship who would do anything for you? I'm supposed to report back to them.” Maggie was sitting on one Alex expensive leather chairs, documents and files before her and trying to figure what exactly she was supposed to do with those.
“I have what? You are what?” Alex spluttered and she could feel her cheeks heating up. Why did Maggie Sawyer had such an effect on her?
Maggie chuckled. “You really should google your name from time to time. And as much as I would like to tell your fans that you are actually a huge giant dork who can turns as red as a tomato,” Alex laughed sarcastically at that and rolled her eyes, “I don't want to ruin their fantasies.” Maggie clicked with her tongue and looked to Alex, who's mouth was wide open.
“What fantasies? And what do you mean tell them?”
“You have a whole internet forum dedicated to you.” Maggie couldn't contain her laughter anymore and the files in front of her were totally forgotten.
“You have been working here for three weeks. Why didn't you tell me that earlier?” Alex asked.
“Oh, so you are interested.” Maggie teased her and Alex groaned again.
“That's-Okay that's not what I meant and you know it.”
Maggie winked at her. “For someone who's nickname is daddy, you are really a dork.”
“I'm what now?” Alex eyes were wide and her mouth hung slightly open.
“Oh Danvers, you have so much to learn..” Maggie said and smiled at her and really, those dimples were going to be the death of Alex. She studied Maggie for a few more seconds, the smaller woman was still looking at her, with a smile that reached her eyes and Alex heart skipped a bit.
Well, fuck. Did Alex really develop a crush on her assistant within three weeks? This was probably illegal somehow but she told herself that she shouldn't let this opportunity pass, because Alex rarely developed any crushes on any woman.
So she decided to play along. Because really, what did she had to lose? And maybe, just maybe there was a tiny little chance that Maggie was into her as well, because if you would ask her, Alex totally believed that Maggie had non stop been flirting with here these past few weeks. Believed being the key word because in the end, Alex just wasn’t sure.
Maybe she had just imagined it? Maybe her imagination was playing games with her and maybe she had interpreted too much into this. But there was only one way to find out.
“Did you just take the job, so you could report back to the forum? Are you telling me that you are a member in a forum dedicated to me?” Alex put her chin on both her hands, her gaze finding Maggie face and she was clearly surprised by this. She blinked once, twice, her mouth slightly open and her eyebrows furrowed together, probably trying to think of something in return to say.
“Uh, maybe?” She answered back, grinning sheepishly and Alex let out another chuckle.
“Now that is interesting.”
Maggie waited, looked at Alex and was expecting some more words from her, but Alex just grinned to herself and brought her attention back to her papers.
“That is all you have to say?” Maggie said and her voice told Alex that she was clearly surprised. Alex just shrugged, took a look at her watch and promptly got up from her chair. The smaller woman still had a dazzled look on her face when Alex walked over to her.
“There is a reason why I hired you, and it was clearly not because of your assistant skills.” Alex leaned down to Maggie’s ear, her voice lower than before and Maggie’s mouth dropped to the floor, eyes wide, looking absolutely amazed by Alex and god, Alex was so proud of herself.
This is exactly the reaction she was hoping for.
“I’ll see you later Ms Sawyer.” Alex made sure to let her hand brush Maggie’s shoulder on her way towards the door.
All Alex heard before she left through the door was a “What the hell happened to being all stuttering and flustering, Danvers? God damn it.”
It was on.
“I need to talk to you about Maggie.” It was pretty late and all Alex wanted was to go home. But Kara seemed somehow confused and Alex sighed.
“What did she do?”
“This is the second time that James ditched me so he could go train with her at the gym.” Kara crossed her arms and Alex rolled her eyes.
“Kara listen to me,” Alex put her hands on her little sister's shoulder, “First of all, is she really working out? I mean I know she is fit but you really need to tell James to take photos and-”
“Alex.” Kara whined and Alex hold up her hands.”Alright, sorry. What I really wanted to say,” Kara rolled her eyes at that response and Alex hushed her, “You are basically spending every day with him, it's good for him to meet other people besides you.”
Kara shock her head and Alex furrowed her eyebrows, clearly confused. “She is supposed to do stuff with you after work. Not James.”
Alex face was puzzled, trying to put all the pieces together but she was lost.
Kara groaned out loud. “Alex, we were trying to set you guys up.”
“You did what?”
“Please don't be mad, but James knew Maggie since there were little kids and she recently just moved her and was looking for a job and we knew that she was gay and-”
“You thought that your sister who is also gay and not dating anyone, might be interested in her.” Alex finished, her arms crossed and her face unable to read.
“Something like this. Please don't be mad.” Kara pleaded and Alex chuckled.
“Normally, I would be mad because really Kara? Just because she is gay and I am gay, you thought we should date.”
“In my defense, she is really attractive, right? She also seemed nice.”
Alex nodded and embraced Kara into a tight high, showing her that she was not actually mad at her.
“She is really hot, but also very kind and Kara, I do really like her.” Alex mumbled into Kara’s shoulder and Kara tightened the hug.
“She really likes you Alex. She hasn't stopped talking about you whenever she is seeing James, and they almost see each other every day.” Kara snorted and Alex let out a small laughter and let go off Kara to look at her.
“You really thinks she likes me like that?”
Kara nodded. “Yes, absolutely.”
“I mean, she did told me that she was a member at an internet forum dedicated to me.” Alex chuckled to herself and Kara’s eyes widened.
“She is was?”
“Don't worry about, it's actually pretty funny.” Alex reassured her and Kara chuckled.
“Besides, I've been thinking about inviting her to the event next week.” Alex said out loud but she wasn't sure if she had said it because of Kara or if she was still debating with herself if she should actually do it or not.
“That's an amazing idea!” Kara clapped her hands together and bounced up and down, probably more excited for the evening than Alex.
“James and I will be there as well, this is going to be so much fun.”
“Oh, I plan on having fun.” Alex mouth turned into a grin and Kara let out another groan.
“As much as I want you to be happy and finally ask her out, I really don't want to think about you to hooking up.” Alex stuck her tongue out and Kara shock her head, amused but truly happy for her sister.
“I still can't believe I have a whole internet pages dedicated to me and Maggie is a member.”
“Alex, please.”

Love (and Other Feelings Like It)
A thank you to @brinshannara for the beta, you great <3
This is J’onn centered, SuperCorp sap. And you can read it on AO3
The first thing J’onn felt was panic, pure, unadulterated panic. Even before Kara’s head shot up to grin at the heartbeat she could hear through the door, J’onn felt the anxiety wafting from the hallway.
“Lena!”
He’d felt a lot of emotional whiplash in his life, but this was something else. J’onn grimaced as he felt the headache begin. The relief he felt from her was short-lived though, the anxiety already tumbling back into place as she stepped into the apartment.
J’onn was impressed, the only tell to her nerves was the whitening of her knuckles around her purse strap.
James’ reaction was not surprising, you didn’t need telepathy to tell that he wasn’t exactly pleased. However, the panic, anger, betrayal, worry, determination… the dichotomy of his feelings, that surprised J’onn. The amount this man felt seemed borderline painful.
But he stood and nodded at Ms. Luthor, “Ms. Luthor, welcome to the club.”
The first of Ms. Luthor’s anxiety slipped away. J’onn nodded, perhaps James finally had enough proof.
Winn’s overwhelming emotion was excitement, as always. J’onn tried his best not to roll his eyes as Winn nearly leapt over the couch to introduce himself. There was worry in the back of his mind, but there was science in the front of it and Winn didn’t hold back his questions.
“Hi! I’m Winn, Winn Schott, we met at the gala where you made that anti-plasma bomb, could I ask you how you came up with the idea? It was brilliant! And the coupling reactor you had was incredible! That’s at least a couple of years ahead of anything I’ve ever seen before! I’ve got some schematics actually, I was wondering-“
Kara laughed. J’onn did his best not grimace at the blast of affection that wrapped through Lena’s mind. He hadn’t felt anything like that since Alex finally rectified her situation with Detective Sawyer…
“Winn, let her sit down at least!”
Oh god.
J’onn must have groaned out loud, Alex’s hand landed on his arm and he felt her instinct to pull her gun. He shook his head and patted her shoulder as he stood. This was going to make his life a whole hell of a lot harder.
“Hank Henshaw. Ms. Luthor, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Her handshake was firm and J’onn found nothing but worry and thoughts of sunshine in the top layers of her mind.
Well, at least he could take Lena Luthor off the watch list.
“Ms. Luthor.” Alex nodded at her and J’onn felt her slight apprehension, but she followed J’onn’s lead and added, “It’s nice to see you again.”
He felt a bloom of appreciation flood his chest. He knew Alex had her reservations about the Luthor, could feel her worry and disbelief, even with all of Kara’s trust. But she would try and he watched as the same flash of appreciation slipped over Kara’s face.
At least he didn’t need telepathy to read her.
Detective Sawyer opened the bathroom door and stopped. He felt her unease, not that he could blame her at all. She had put Ms. Luthor in handcuffs, for the job or not, that was awkward.
“Uh, Lena, you’ve already met Maggie Sawyer from the NCPD…” Kara did her best not to glare at Maggie. J’onn almost sighed again; she wasn’t doing a very good job of it.
“Ah! Ms. Luthor, sorry about before.” Maggie wiped her hands on her jeans and stepped forward to hold out her hand. “The job and all.”
J’onn felt the hurt on Lena, felt the doubt creep back in. Good lord, no wonder she’d taken to Kara so quickly. This woman needed some sunshine in her life.
“Of course.” Lena’s reply was… courteous, professional. Very briefly, J’onn thought about hiring her as a consultant to train his new recruits. Too bad he could never pay her enough.
Detective Sawyer grinned and J’onn matched her smile before she could even get her words out, “Y’know, just can’t help myself when cuffing a pretty lady.”
He withheld his laughter, the shock in the room dissipated with Kara and Alex’s twin cries of:
“Maggie!”
And just like that, all the tension in the air disappeared. Trust a detective to read a room. Maybe he could tempt her away from the NCPD.
Lena’s emotions were rather comical; it was like watching one of those human sitcoms. She slipped from distrust and hurt to surprise and amusement. Humans normally ate popcorn when they watched a show; J’onn felt it would be an appropriate time for popcorn.
Alex’s embarrassment slipped over him from behind and honestly, J’onn would never tire of that feeling. It always washed away to, there, that mix of pride and giddiness that only the detective could bring out in her.
“What? Don’t tell me any of you wouldn't do the same, given the chance!” A chorus of groans followed her words and the detective, armed with a shit-eating grin, only dug herself in deeper. She leaned into Lena’s space and stage whispered, “You’re kind of an icon in the lesbian community, what with the big ‘L’ on your building.”
Panic, but a different kind of panic, J’onn suspected, swirled through Lena’s mind. He nearly applauded the detective though, what a thorough way to lift the mood in the room. He’d need to ask Vasquez to start the paperwork for her transfer to the DEO.
A shame that she couldn’t see Alex like this, she’d never let her fellow agent live this down. He wondered briefly how her night was going. She’d requested the night off a few months back, but only confided to J’onn that she’d be proposing to her long-time girlfriend a week ago. No wonder he kept feeling apprehension scorch through her randomly at the DEO.
“Oh! Good! You brought wine!” Alex stood and clapped her hands together, pulling J’onn from his thoughts. “If Maggie’s going to be like this, then I think I’ll have a glass.”
Detective Sawyer scoffed and J’onn couldn’t miss the amusement and love that flooded off her. “C’mon, babe, you love my gay jokes!”
Alex sighed as she relieved Lena of the bottle, “Whatever you say, Mags.” Her eyes narrowed and J’onn felt what he could only describe as hunger jolt through her, “Holy shit. You can come back anytime, Lena, anytime.”
A waft of pleasure drifted from Lena at Alex’s careless pat of her shoulder. J’onn could get used to these game nights.
He really didn’t understand the point of this game. The rules said to match the red cards to the green card’s description, however most of the time it was the red card furthest from the green card’s description which won.
Humans.
He laid down his cards in forfeit of this game. He’d dulled his senses to try and make the game fair, but he needed to check in with their surroundings and the DEO.
Love, appreciation, happiness, not the worst emotions to come back to at all, but they still blindsided J’onn. He looked over at Lena as she watched Kara.
‘…wouldn’t look through the cards. She’s competitive but she’d never… again? No, she wouldn’t… but her glasses do slip every now and again…’
So, the Luthor knew. But there was quite obviously no malice in her thoughts. Perhaps… perhaps she could be good for Kara.
Kara still smarted from her fallout with Mon-El. Which was the main reason they hadn’t postponed this game night to wait for Vasquez and, while J’onn was not surprised nor saddened by the Daxamite’s retreat from Kara, he was worried for her.
She didn’t always make the best decisions for herself.
He turned from the cacophony of emotions and picked up his phone. Perhaps he’d send a quick message to Susan as well. Although, if what he remembered of Anne was correct, she may not have access to her phone until well into tomorrow.
James left first, an emergency at Catco.
Maggie and Alex followed not too long after. Their excuse really wasn’t even worth repeating, with a glass of exceptionally expensive red wine in Alex’s system and two in Maggie’s, they weren’t getting any work done tonight.
Winn and Lena talked for some time about particle displacers. Their ideas were exceptionally on point and J’onn mourned again the staggering paycheck this woman would deserve.
She was finally relaxed though. The glass of wine she’d nursed most of the night probably helped with that, but the easy conversation well within her comfort zone seemed to ease her as well.
Kara wandered around the living room, she’d already brushed off everyone’s offers of assistance multiple times. She seemed happy, content to listen to Lena and Winn’s chatter. J’onn threw in his two cents every now and again, mostly on better materials, but he was equally content as his ‘Space Daughter’ to let the ambiance of their conversation wash through him.
Winn’s phone dinged from his pocket and his eye widened at the text, excitement, anxiety, pleasure… probably the girlfriend J’onn mused.
“Oh crap, sorry, Kara, Lena, I’ve got a date!” J’onn congratulated himself silently. “It was awesome talking with you, Lena! Bye, Kara! See ya, J’onn!”
He left in a rush of fluttering feelings and made it out the door before Kara spotted his jacket. “Winn!” She turned back to J’onn and Lena and flashed a smile that sent another wave of affection spiraling off the CEO. “That guy, be right back!”
The warmth of affection stayed in Lena’s chest as her gaze lingered on the door.
“Kara’s not a very patient person.” J’onn pulled his arm from the back of the couch and tilted his head at Lena. “She tends to jump into any relationship that’s easy for her, even if it’s not good for her. She craves affection.”
Confusion rolled off the Luthor and J’onn raised his hand to stop her words. “While neither she nor her sister are telepaths,” He called up the power that always sat in his chest, turning his eyes a striking red. “I am.”
Fear.
“So, while I would love to hire you to train my recruits on proper emotional regulation on the job, I don’t suggest that kind of limiting in the home. It tends to be toxic.” He stood and stretched to the side. “I see how you feel about her, and you’re correct, if you wait, she just might notice you. But how many failed relationships do you want her to go through before that?”
Confusion, worry, fear, apprehension… hope.
“I can see how you would treat her.” He reached for his jacket and slung it over his shoulders before looking the woman in the eyes. “Just know that I consider her a daughter and you’ll have much worse that Alex Danvers to deal with if you hurt her.”
Hope, hope, hope.
J’onn smiled, “Though I can see that’s nowhere in your mind.” He heard Kara’s hand on the opposite side of the door. “Don’t wait too long, Lena. I have a feeling you won’t regret asking.”
The door opened and Kara looked at him in confusion. “Won’t regret what?”
“I’m sure your CEO friend would love to tell you. Goodnight, Kara.”
He turned down the hallway, the thoughts and feelings of the apartment’s inhabitants filtering through the walls. One held a mother and her child, watching cartoons, another, an elderly couple reading in the light of their bedside lamps; a brother and a sister, a man and his dog, a lady and a staggering number of plants, a family of five… a young CEO and an alien.
Love wrapped around this apartment and J’onn let it permeate his very bones. Maybe he’d go flying.
J’onn walked into the control room six days later. A bouquet of sweet peas and hydrangeas waited on the center console. J’onn very pointedly didn’t smile.
“Sir, those are compliments of Lena Luthor. The morning guard brought them this morning, there don’t seem to be any suspicious compounds and the lab has gon-”
Apprehension, worry. “Thank you Agent Hawthorn. I assure you they’re perfectly safe.” J’onn turned to the woman, she was a new recruit, a good one too. “Also, Supergirl flies in and out of this building daily, there’s a fan club camped outside almost constantly, I think Ms. Luthor knew our location long before she sent these. If she was going to try anything, she already would have.”
Agent Hawthorn snapped to attention, embarrassment sliding from her mind, “Of course, sir.”
J’onn nodded and she turned to leave. Vasquez sidled up beside him. She didn’t say anything, she didn’t have to. J’onn rolled his eyes.
“Yes, yes, you weren’t the only one having a good night. No, Ms. Luthor doesn’t need to be on the watch list anymore and no, I have nothing else to say on the matter.”
Vasquez bit her lip and saluted. J’onn didn’t know where she’d learned to salute sarcastically, but she’d learned it well. “Tell Anne I say ‘hi’.”
“Of course, sir.”
Happiness. Love. The chatter of minds at work. J’onn turned to the screens and folded his arms behind his back. Minds at work….
“Mr. Schott, I know you aren’t using DEO equipment for games.”
A squeak came from behind J’onn and only Vasquez caught his smile.
