Let’s Have a Virtual Tour to Panch Kedar
Uttrakhand is home to several temples which are dedicated to different gods and goddesses. Panch Kedar is the combination of five respectful temples which are dedicated to Lord Shiva. These are situated in the Garhwal region in the state of Uttrakhand. Panch Kedar consists of five temples which are Kedarnath, Madhmaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar. It is believed that each of the Panch Kedar sites is dedicated to the part of the Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is the hump of Lord Shiva, Madhmheshwar is his belly button, Tungnath is his arms, Rudranath is his face and Kalpeshwar is his jata or hair.
The combination of these five temples is the destination that is at the top of the must-visit list. The destination is not the only reason behind people's attraction but the journey is what fascinates tourists. People often think that Uttrakhand is just about 4 dhams, Chardham itinerary and Chardham hotel booking but it is also about other things as well. So today in this blog, we are going to discuss Panch Kedar and will make your tour easy.
Tumblr media
About the Five Revered Shrines:
Kedarnath: It is one of the five panch kedar which is situated in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. And it is also one of the 4 dhams. It is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters. It has a rich history as well. As it is believed that Pandav built this after the end of Mahabharat. It is also said that Pandavas were seeking forgiveness from Lord Shiva because they killed their Kaurava brothers to pay for their sins. But Lord Shiva was not ready to meet them so in the meantime he hid in Guptkashi.
Travel Tips When Traveling to Kedarnath:
Carry winter clothes because the weather there is chilly, so you are going to need them for sure.
Bring your documents as they can be checked.
Bring the medications because you may feel little discomfort there due to the high altitude.
Know the rules and regulations of the place such as photography is not allowed there.
Tungnath: This beautiful and historic temple is situated in the Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. It is the highest Shiva temple in the world. It is believed that it is 1000 years old and the foundation of the temple was placed by Arjuna who was one of the five brothers (Pandavas) in Mahabharata. The thing which makes this temple special is that the temple is surrounded by the shrines of other gods. The trek of this special temple is 4 kilometers long which hardly takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.
Travel Tips When Traveling to Tungnath:
Always be up to date when it comes to the weather conditions of the trek.
Always study the trek because it can be tough for some people.
Carry a raincoat because rainfalls are really common there.
Carry enough water because dehydration is a common problem faced by visitors there.
Rudranath: It is another temple which is one of the Panch Kedar. It is situated in the district of Chamoli at an altitude of 2,290 meters. It is a highly respected temple and the face of Lord Shiva is the part of Lord Shiva that was dedicated to this temple. The best thing about this temple is that it is situated in the middle of beautiful mountains and lush green forests. So more than the destination you are going to love the journey.
Travel Tips When Traveling to Rudranath:
Trek of Rudranath is not very hard but it is 20 kilometers long, this is the thing you must know before trekking there.
As the trek is a little long which means you should carry enough water for hydration and enough food for energy to trek.
The temple closes in the mid of November and opens every year in the month of April or May, so it is important to plan your tour accordingly.
Study the trek and weather forecast as it plays an important role during the time of trekking.
Madmaheshwar:  It is another temple that is a part of the Panch Kedar which is situated in the village of Gaudar located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. It is believed that when Lord Shiva did not want to meet the five brothers (Pandavas) he transformed himself into a bull but somehow Bhima the second brother of Pandavas recognize him. So he built this temple to worship Lord Shiva. And when you visit this temple you are going to notice at the very right of the main temple there is a small temple which is dedicated to the Goddess of learning and knowledge, Saraswati. The trek of this temple is mildly hard and it is 6.6 kilometers long. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,490 meters from sea level.
Travel Tips When Traveling to Madmaheshwar:
Carry your identity card because you may need it.
Carry a first-aid kit with all the necessary medication such as painkillers, bandaids, etc.
Follow a basic exercise routine one month before going trekking.
Carry comfortable clothes and shoes as they will help you in trekking.
Kalpeshwar: It is a temple which is dedicated to the hairs or jata of Lord Shiva. It is situated in the district of Chamoli. It is the only temple in Panch Kedar which is available for the bhakts of Lord Shiva throughout the year.  It is surrounded by beautiful forests, valleys, and nature which makes it even more beautiful. The trek of this temple is 11 kilometers long and it is situated at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level.
Travel Tips When Travelling to Kalpeshwar:
Make sure that you are well aware of the roads that lead you to the place.
Know about the weather before beginning your trek.

Everything You Need ToKnow About Char Dham Yatra
Hindu community members attach great religious significance to the Char Dham Yatra. One of India's most revered pilgrimage routes opens up at the same time each year for pilgrims to travel to the four most important Hindu shrines in Uttarakhand. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the names of these four Himalayan shrines. From the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya in the Chaitya month till Bhai Dooj, the Char Dham Yatra is open. The Hindu religion holds high regard for all of these places. Every Hindu can visit religious places at least once in their lifetime with the help of char dham tour packages to find enlightenment.
Importance Of Char Dham Yatra For Hindu Devotees
In Uttarakhand, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the four main pilgrimage destinations that make up the Chardham Yatra. Whether they are coming from Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Delhi, they all take different routes. Any one of these locations is a great place to begin your spiritual journey because they are well connected to major Indian cities by aeroplanes and motorable roads. The Chardham Yatra, according to Hindu mythology, is fortunateand ought to be travelled in a clockwise direction from West to East.
Visitors must first go to Haridwar, the starting location of the Chardham Yatra, in order to arrive at the four holy shrines. By selecting the best char dham tour packages, they start their travel in Yamunotri, proceed to the famous Gangotri, then to Kedarnath Dham, and conclude it at Badrinath Dham. These four temples are visited in the sequence they are during the Chardham Yatra for a broad range of reasons, each of which has a special significance.
Significance of Yamunotri Dham Yatra
Tumblr media
The initial of these is called Yamunotri Dham, and it is situated close to the Yamuna River's source. Yamraj had assured her on Bhai Dooj that anybody who bathes in the water would not be transported to Yamlok and would consequently attain forgiveness, considering that according to Hindu mythology, Yamuna is Yamraj's sister.
Significance of Gangotri Dham Yatra
Tumblr media
The Ma Gangotri Temple, which honours the Goddess Ganga, is well-known for its location on the banks of the sacred Ganges River. The Gangotri Dham, the second stop on the Yatra, is located at a height of 3200 metres above sea level. The temple is located in Gomukh, the holy River Ganga's source. It is said that bathing in the Ganges River's sacred water cleanses one of all impurities. According to mythology, King Bhagirath spent much time here in meditation before Ganga suddenly emerged. The rock where he is supposed to have meditated is displayed in the temple. You can visit this religious place by booking char dham tour packages.
Importance of Kedarnath Dham
Tumblr media
Among the 12 jyotirlingas can be seen in the Kedarnath Baba shrine, which is well known for it. The holy site is devoted to Lord Shiva and is a popular destination for those who follow him and seek his blessings. Among the most important shrines in the nation is Kedarnath Temple, which is extremely well known. The PanchKedar pilgrimage of India includes the temples of Kedarnath, Kalpeshwar, Tungnath, Madmaheshwar, and Rudranath. This is encircled by the hypnotic snow-capped mountains that house Mount Kailash. Adi Shankaracharya is credited with constructing the fabled temple at Kedarnath in 800 AD.
Significance of Badrinath Dham
Tumblr media
With the assistance of char dham tour packages, the Badrinath Temple, the most famous of the four temples, is the final to be visited throughout the yatra. The temple, which honours Lord Vishnu, is situated beside the Alakananda River. Additionally, Adi Shankaracharya is thought to have achieved enlightenment there. It is assumed that the Badrinath received its name from the numerous "berries" that can be found there. In Sanskrit, these berries are known as "Badri." The King of Gharwal had a statue of Lord Badrinarayan carved of Saligram stone removed from the Alaknanda River and placed in the current Badrinath temple. It belongs to Lord Vishnu's 108 DivyaDesams. A black stone Vishnu statue is worshipped in the temple.
Best Time ToTravel For Char Dham
Only half of the year, from April or May to October or November, is dedicated to visiting all four of the Char Dham temples: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. As the Char Dham experiences summers, the months of April, May, and the early half of June offer nice weather. As June's latter half, July, and August are prone to rains that may cause frequent landslides in the Char Dham, the rainy months are not the best time to come there.
Due to their high altitudes and severe winter snowfall, Char Dham's temples must be closed throughout the winter months. Therefore, April, May, October, and November are the only months that are perfect for visiting Char Dham with char dham tour packages. Additionally, the deity of Kedarnath is moved to the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath during the winter when the holy gates of Kedarnath Temple are closed.
Conclusion
For those looking to find enlightenment, the Char Dham Yatra is regarded as a must-do pilgrimage. The name "Char Dham," according to Hindu mythology, was first used by the ancient Hindu philosopher Shri Adi Shankaracharya. Additionally, it is assumed that one must make this journey at least once in their lifetime. These four temples are located in an area renowned for their alluring mountains covered in a deep blanket of snow that you can easily explore with Char Dham tour packages.
