It falls to James to speak, which he does with as much retaliatory coldness as he can muster. “Get out of my house.”

Post series work, set ~18 months after the season four finale. John is drawn to Savannah, desperate for help. James is, in turn, pulled back to the chaos of piracy.

This is the Silverham Revenge Fuck--

Post-series, Silver finds where Thomas and Flint are staying. Silver and Thomas run into each other in town and figure out who the other is. Both are angry at Flint for separate reasons and want to get back at him. Silver because he’s livid that Flint’s curse has come true (the comfort growing stale etc) and is still angry from the fallout of the finale, and Thomas b/c Flint refuses to tell him any of what happened in the intervening 10 years (and ESPECIALLY not about Silver.)

Anyway, when Silver rolls into town Thomas is like "well fuck u I'm gonna get my own answers and also that dick." So Thomas propositions Silver and Silver is snarling mad at first but then is like "yeah sure if it'll hurt Flint's feelings. even tho I don't like you either" (but he... he does).

Lots of Silverham being catty bitches to each other with crackling sexual tension. Like full Mean Girls. They get on each other’s nerves b/c they’re far more alike than either would like to admit. aka both smarmy little shits.

We wanted there to be a physical altercation so like, at some point Thomas taunts Silver for being in love with Flint (which comes as a Huge Shocker to Mr. Repressed Disaster Bi Silver) and Silver fucking decks Thomas. 

Direct quotes from Brinn b/c it’s too fucking funny to just summarize: Silver, post finale, still hopelessly in the closet, shows up to reconnect with Flint but finds Thomas in town first and Thomas is like "ah the prodigal lover returns at last" and silver's like "this is very heterosexual I assure you" and Thomas goes "oh sweetie u gay as fuck" so Silver hauls off and clocks him and from like, the floor, split lip bleedly a little ferally over his teeth, Thomas is like "oh I'm about 2 show u how queer u are little man"

Thomas knows how to take a man APART he's got Silver panting for him and Silver's still like “no this is ridiculous I don't love flint stop it u know how dicks are" and Thomas makes him beg for it

"use your words or no orgasm" PERFECT

the whole time they're fucking, Thomas is talking nonstop about Flint, about what he's like in bed, about that little freckle he has right by divot in the small of his back, etc

falls asleep on the couch

They both do!! Flint does because he’ll stay up reading or sewing (he sews okay, like he embroiders this is a FACT), and Silver will find him asleep and tug him up and bring him to bed. Silver will stay up going over their finances because even though they have plenty of money now he’s still Paranoid, and he budgets.

makes friends with the neighbors

Flint does it just by being himself and he’s grumpy about it, like he goes out and prunes the hedge and goes out when Silver gardens in their little vegetable plot and brings over pails of dirt and the like. Silver is a little more friendly, but he also likes to keep to himself. I mean, they DID have really tall hedges put in for privacy.

is the adventurous eater

They’ve both learned to eat what’s put in front of them, but Silver is more likely to point at something at the market, make Flint buy it for him, and eat it than Flint is. But Flint has a sweet tooth and he’ll try any kind of dessert.

hogs the covers at night

Silver!!! Flint sleeps sprawled out and Silver burrows under the covers until all you can see is his hair sticking out at the top.

forgets to do the dishes

Silver. Flint is FASTIDIOUS okay. You get that way in the navy.

tries to surprise their partner more often

Flint is actually pretty affectionate once he decides he likes you, and he just says these things that make Silver blush and stammer. But Silver is no chump when it comes to romance. He always brings home little baubles or books or clothes for Flint, and he’ll wake up and sneak out of the room, having mastered that even with his crutch, and will come back with breakfast on a tray for Flint. He also writes love notes and leaves them around the house. They’re saps.

leaves dirty laundry on the floor

Silver pretends it’s too hard for him to lean down and pick them up and Flint grudgingly indulges him. It’s a routine.

stays up til 2 AM reading

Flint, king of nerds. Silver will eventually wake up beside him in bed and splay his hand over Flint’s face until Flint sighs and closes his book and blows out the candle and turns and kisses Silver until he’s dizzy from it and then turns over and goes to sleep, leaving Silver hot and bothered in revenge.

sings in the shower

Flint practically yodels when he’s in the shower, and his voice is actually pretty good. Silver likes to listen to him. If he’s in the shower WITH Flint, Flint will croon to him as he washes his hair.

takes the selfies

Silver. He and Max are instagram twins. They run a curly hair blog.

plans date night

They both plan surprise date nights and then try to surprise each other at the same time all the time, so they just stopped and now they take date nights which mostly consist of fucking around the house and then soaking in a bubble bath together. With candles.

Madi and Flint fall asleep while reading together all the time and she curls up under his arm and Silver makes these high pitched noises when he finds them like that, he takes pictures on his phone and sends them to Thomas, who’s working overseas and Thomas sends back heart emojis. (this is a modern au i guess)

makes friends with the neighbors

Thomas says hello to everyone, everything, and every cat and dog he comes across and Madi is gracious and president of the homeowner’s association and a beloved public official so they do, and their husbands are grumpy and antisocial and scowl at anyone they don’t know. And then when they see Thomas and Madi they get heart eyes and press kisses all over their faces, so the neighbors don’t really know what to make of that

is the adventurous eater

Thomas eats disgusting shit that the other three would never eat, but he’s not adventurous. He likes his freaky food and sticks with it. Silver will try anything if Madi tries it first. Flint is the most adventurous. Madi is just like has anyone in this house heard of fucking seasoning.

hogs the covers at night

Madi isn’t happy unless she’s pressed between two people, Silver isn’t happy unless he’s all the way under the covers, and Thomas isn’t happy if he can’t tuck his cold feet between Flint’s calves. So Flint gets pressed somewhere in the middle of all that, accepts his fate, and goes to sleep.

forgets to do the dishes

Silver does and it’s the subject of many weekly meetings where he gets glared at over the kitchen table.

tries to surprise their partner more often

Thomas and Silver are in a competition for who can surprise Flint and Madi, who generally can smell their bullshit a mile away, and so far it’s a tie.

leaves dirty laundry on the floor

Silver and Thomas are fucking terrible about it, and Madi gets into the bad habit of it because they do it, and it drives Flint’s meticulous, neat freak ass up the wall.

stays up til 2 AM reading

Flint and Madi and Thomas. Silver is in bed asleep, splayed across the whole bed while they read. OR they’re all up listening to Thomas read and Silver is passed out asleep across Flint and Madi’s laps.

sings in the shower

Flint sings sweet love songs in the shower and if one of them is showering with him he’ll sing to them. Silver sings loudly and terribly, and sometimes Madi hums along. Thomas does Not sing, he is aware the birds will die if he starts.

takes the selfies

Madi takes beautiful selfies and she’s got a big following and she and Max collab sometimes. Thomas likes to take them with Flint and Silver, who scowl but let him take the picture.

plans date night

Madi, queen of planning, does and she has all her boys trained very well to be lined up and dressed in time to make dinner reservations if that’s what they’re doing. She also plans their vacations.

He first brings Madi there when she finally forgives him, and they’re ready to leave the sea behind. They work hard on rebuilding the house and filling it with all kinds of homey furniture and books and an adopted stray animal or two (*cough* parrot *cough*).

And then James eventually brings Thomas there, because Thomas has been begging him for years to see where he shared a life with Miranda, even though James was reluctant because he knew seeing the burned remains of that life would only hurt him.

But when has James ever said no to Thomas on anything that really mattered?

So James steels himself to bring Thomas to a sad, ruined, abandoned site, and they show up, and the house is restored, and there are signs of life all over it: linens drying on a line outside, vegetables growing in the garden, chickens scratching in the dirt. And Thomas is all “I thought you said this place burned to the ground” and James is all “Who the fuck is living in my house?”.

And then Madi comes out onto the porch to see who’s there and she freezes. And then she runs across the yard to hug James, and they’re so happy and surprised to see each other, and before James can pull himself together, John steps out of the doorway to see what’s going on. And he and James see each other and can’t. stop. eyefucking. staring.

Silver crosses the yard slowly, and finally Thomas nudges James forward with a fond “Go to him”, and Madi’s crying and nodding, and James steps forward and catches John up in his arms and they hold each other and finally pull back just far enough to, at last, bring their lips together in a kiss.

Do you think Silver would go back to Miranda’s ruined house when he misses Flint? To search for anything that reminds Silver of him. Would he find meditations in the cellar? Would it be legible? And would he read it while sitting on the cliff side?
