if you don't know what the fuck I'm talking about:

Hideaki Anno - creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Ikuni/ Kunihiko Ikuhara - creator of Shoujo Kakumei Utena

they were buddies in the 90's (late 80's too maybe? idk) and they worked with the same studio at one point. after Eva came out, some people raised a few eyebrows and rumors started to go around for some reason that ikuni was the inspiration to and/or did live modeling for the character design of kaworu, these rumors grew enough that ikuni got actually asked about it in an interview. he didn't just say "nah lol" and move on tho, he said "I am not, I didn't model for him. however," and then gave us a fucking detail-rich lecture on how there were undeniable parallels and similarities... he even felt the need to say something along the lines of "that sauna scene reminded me a lot of our drunk talk at the hot springs after everyone else went to sleep on that company trip when we worked for the same studio, I even thought of us at the springs first thing when I saw it airing". after like giving everyone enough gossip material, he wrapped this up with "...but isn't [thing kaworu says at some point], something I'm always telling people? I guess you can make that point". like, this interviewer must have had a professional orgasm then and there. they made one risky question and man, did it pay off. it does not end here tho, but the next are just a few funny things to notice:

- kaworu dies at least three times in different Eva canons, shinji does not end up with men in any of them

- kaworu is undoubtedly meant to be one of the love interest for shinji. this is confirmed I think. not only this, but his love for shinji is pivotal to the character. it is the character, basically, tbh.

- other than this particular interview, ikuhara did some fan-teasing, mimicking kaworu's speech mannerisms by posting some ominous text on his stories this year(2021) after a doc that mentions this came out

- hideaki anno calls ikuni by "iku-chan". if you don't know much about Japanese speech manners, this is very intimate and unfitting to anno's usual way of talking. ikuni, on the other hand, calls him "anno-san", which is very formal and detached, the same way you would talk to a superficial level friend who is older/on a higher rank at your job, or even an acquaintance you don't particularly hate or like 💀 (-san is just meant to be respectful, but when someone is calling you by nickname-chan and you reply with lastname-san, it looks very embarrassing to the other person, like they are pushing to look like they are close to you 💀 alternatively, it is very rude to call someone you are not close enough to by something like nickname-chan like this, which is why it looks embarrassing tbh)

and, my personal favorite of the crack fan theories from these: some speculation arose that in ikuni's latest project, Sarazanmai, Enta the megane gay kid with an unrequited crush and Kazuki the problem child crossdresser who could not be more oblivious and at times even uncaring to these feelings are a parallel to the two 💀 like this is obviously very crack nobody actually thinks it's the case, but it's at least a little funny to look at the dynamics if you've ever seen a public interaction of anno and ikuni. very funny, actually

anyway, I'm just some basic bitch who loves gossip and my god, does this deliver... another case of terminally incubated fruit develops gross misogyny as a coping mechanism, rip leave your rose 🌹 to pay respects

I don't like or support celebrity shipping but if hideaki anno and ikuni didn't want me to gossip my life away re: what is it happened w them? what were they? they should have simply just not made it all this fucking funny 😭 please...
